I've sold here for years and always had a great selling experience until my last two visits here. I used to make $60-$170 before their new payout policy. The last time I was here, I only got $28 and if it wasn't for their new payout, it would've been an estimated $46-$60. I didn't mind their new payout policy so I came back today. I came with a medium size bag full of clothes nicely folded with some shoes. It was a slow day and I watched the gentleman with long hair review my clothes. He quickly went through my items and left them unfolded into a big pile. Some of the items, he didn't even bother to unfold or look at the brand. In the end, he didn't buy anything which is the first time this has happened (I brought in Zara and Revolve brands). I understand buying can be subjective so that's fine that they didn't buy anything. However, I wish the buyer would've folded everything back into the bag nicely instead of shoving the clothes he unfolded with the garments overfilling and hanging off my bag. That just shows how careless the whole selling experience was. I went to a different consignment shop right after and most of my clothes got accepted. This makes me question if it's even worth selling here anymore. read more

Came here on a Tuesday early afternoon, as it could get busy later in the week or weekends. There was only one person before me, so it was a short wait! I unloaded my daughter's stuff and shopped a bit while waiting for the kind staff to look through everything. If you like the clothes here, consignment's more worth it. They took 7 items and my daughter will get to shop here with $90+ credit. From what I saw on the racks, they sell unique styles and young active wear. They took all of my daughter's hardly worn new sneakers! Remember to call to see if they want certain seasonal clothes because I did, and didn't bring any shorts since they're not taking any yet in February. read more

Rolled up on a weeknight and started casually browsing through the men's section. I saw these practically brand new pair of white vans that were my size. I asked one of the employees, Kenzie, to see the other shoe. She initially could not find it and I thought no worries and move on. A couple of days ago, I brought in many bags of clothes, many of which were completely new (and very much in trend), just for them to take one piece (honestly the ugliest one of all), with little compensation- which was equivalent to the amount of gas I lost driving till there. To make matters worse, the wait time was over an hour, with no guarantee you'll even get anything. I recommend Poshmark for selling clothes and actually getting your money's worth for it. The employees were sweet in all fairness, I just don't think the sell/exchange rate is worth the effort. I don't see the "high-end quality or style" of the store they are claiming when rejecting your clothing (a lot of the clothes were hideous), especially for the prices. I was visiting the city so I wanted to thrift to pass time. I was hoping SF had better pieces than SJ. // Location This Crossroads is located in Sunset district. It's a busy street with lots of other stores to check out. I went on a Saturday afternoon so parking was terrible and I had to go through multiple streets. My car is an SUV and I was surprisingly able to park in between two driveways (shoutout to the random lady on the street that helped make sure there was enough room). It took 10 minutes to walk to the store. // Organization The store was really well organized by section by garment and size, which made the process less overwhelming. Still a lot of clothes to dig through nonetheless. // Clothes Crossroads can be pricey. I'll see shirts from fast fashion stores that are priced at $15+ which seems unreasonable for used clothes. Some clothes had stains on it and I saw a pair of pants that were ripped at the crotch. Some pieces just seemed too worn down to justify the price. You can find pretty solid items if you check the label to see the value. I think it makes it worth it if it's something you know you can wear multiple times and look up the brand. * For example, I got a Tommy Hilfiger jacket from the men's section for $35. It was in great condition and I couldn't find a flaw. Normally jackets would be $100+. It's really big on me bc it's a men's large (literally swallows me) but I love it cos it reminds me of my moms clothes in the early 2000s. * The reversible bucket $15. The manufacturer is Super Prima which makes items in bulk so I have a feeling it might have been overpriced. I still decided to get it though cos I liked the look of it and didn't want to go through the trouble of ordering online (where I'd have to order 12 at once and pay for shipping) Other notes: * Men's T-shirt section was cool and had Urban Outfitters and Obey. I saw a cool Andy Warhol and Simpsons tee. * They had Lisa Says Gah, NAKD trousers (retails $50+, selling for $23), BGD denim, and other popular brands. * I wish the dressing rooms had more knobs to hang the clothes. I put my personal stuff on one and all the clothes I wanted to try on the other. It was hard to fit and switch between them. It tires me. * Staff was friendly when ringing me up and it was a nice chit chat. Tips: * If you find a piece you like, but the price tag seems discouraging, I recommend looking the brand online to see if it's worth buying thrifted. * Dont limit yourself to a section bc it's marked for "women" or "men". My kid has fun taste in clothes. She gets a lot of compliments on her style, which makes her feel good because most of what she owns comes from thrift stores and estates sales. Although she typically has decent luck trading at Buffalo, her experience at this Crossroads exceeded her expectations. We can usually come to a close estimate based on the number of bags she has, but Crossroads offered more than double the dollar figure we had in mind. They took nearly 2/3rds of what she brought in, which might be an all-time record. She also had awesome luck with a bunch of pants and tops that she purchased with her trade credit. However, something I don't like is that they don't let you stay at the counter while they look through and process your things. That doesn't give you the opportunity to pull back items that you feel they are under-pricing. But as long as you don't have high-ticket designer items, this is most likely a non-issue. We are excited to return after the next closet purge! P.S. Carve out at least an hour for your trading experience, even if you get in the queue with their app. read more

I haven't been inside this Crossroads in awhile - so it was nice to step inside last week. I've always appreciated how well organized the clothes racks are here. I typically go straight for the men's selection - since I've never had much luck with the women's clothing here. I find that most of the women's clothes are unflattering or Forever 21ish. The men's clothes on the other hand - are often unworn and they carry a slew of medium sizes - so it's easy to find a decent fit. I scored two solid men's shirts - a soft gingham shirt - as well as a vintage Grateful Dead shirt - both for a reasonable price. There was no need to try anything on (always a score) - and the staff were helpful and quick at the counter. For T-shirt and jean basics (especially for men) this Crossroads is worth stopping into. Sustainability in fashion is important however how they do it at Crossroads could be refined. I stopped in to drop off a new jacket with tags on priced at $375, however the buyers there told me that the jacket would sell around $60, and if I wanted cash, I'd be paid 1/3 of that. As I walked around the store to kill time since I was waiting for my turn, I noticed they carry brands such as Everlane, H&M, Levi's, LL Bean, Uniqlo. They would probably be more attractive and easier to sell if the clothes looked more wearable. In some sense, a customer purchasing from Crossroads is more favorable of getting their money's worth and a deal in comparison to someone selling here. Would recommend selling here as a buyer only if you can't get your money back face value at the big department stores-Nordstrom, Macy's. read more

Came here one day while I was in the area. I normally go to Out of the Closet and GoodWill locations, and last Crossroads was in the Haight. This Crossroads unlike the other locations listed above is a lot smaller and there isn't a lingering smell in the air. Being a lot smaller, so is the inventory. As far as prices, GoodWill and Out of Closet is typically about 25% cheaper than what one would find in Marshalls. I found a Uniqlo jacket that I liked and found it about 33% of what Uniqlo would had sold it for. read more

This is in regards to the experience as a seller. Don't waste your time trying to sell here. This is literally the worst Crossroads to come and try to sell clothes at. I brought in a large bag of items of good quality clothes, seasonally appropriate and waited an hour to finally be seen, only for the associate who got my bag to NOT take one single item. I am careful about what I bring in because I know they're picky, but it has gotten ridiculous. Not even an explanation offered for why they couldn't find anything. I am likely going to stop coming here as a customer because I've had it in terms of snobby service and overly long waits to be told I've just wasted an hour of my time. I am saddened to say that I am never coming back again. This is the 3rd time at a Crossroads in the past few years I have had a poor experience. Upon entering after I had signed up to sell on the app, the young lady was friendly and inviting. Only now I know it's all a front. I had to drive into SF and deal with traffic which took me 40 minutes. I parked a few blocks away and carried 2 duffle bags and a backpack. After waiting about 45 minutes maybe less, I was told they took 2 items with cash value of 9$. I just about laughed in her face when she told me they are focusing mainly on "high end" clothing. Well I had some beautiful pieces as well as brands they say on their list they are looking to buy. Let me make sure to tell you I walked thru this whole store and looked and most of the items which I found mostly hideous or not something I would ever wear. Not that I am the fashionista but seriously this place has gone downhill. Similar issue I had down in the South Bay with a nasty young lady that didn't buy anything and had a bad attitude passed me over twice to help people that came after me. Buying This store has TONS of cute things but in extra small or small. It was difficult to find things in medium. I had to search through the store to find my size. There was more things that were half off than I expected but none really fit me. I tried on 30 items and walked away with 2 that I really love! They have a 7 day return policy, store credit only. Selling Just like any crossroads, they are pretty snobby about their brands. They usually don't take Forever21 and H&M, maybe if they had tags on. You get 50% of the value if you take store credit or $30 of the value if you take cash. I always take credit. I would hate to walk away with 30% of my value. They have a HAWK eye for stains so make sure if you are selling whites, there aren't stains! Went it with two ikea size laundry bags and a box of shoes. Got $110 back. Items that I sold include 2 pairs of converses ($10 each), 1 pair of adidas ($14), 2 Gap shirt dresses that I didn't think they'll take ($8 each), 1 Rag and Bone jeggings ($14), Vince cropped sweater ($14), 1 DARE sweater, 2 American Eagle Jeans with tags ($8), 1 J Crew cropped sweater ($9). Most of my items were size 00, xs, or small, which fit their exact sizes. Most of these items I already posted on different venues to sell and they weren't selling for about 1 month. It was nice to offload some of my junk at Crossroads. As always I wish I had gotten more, however one thing to consider is even though you feel like you aren't getting much back, the clothes at the store aren't THAT expensive. I could have sold more but I didn't want to part with things I could sell on my own for higher. read more

Good experience consigning. Came in on Saturday mid-morning which was probably a very busy time. I read other reviews prior to coming in and knew to sign in on the tablet to get in line. Tablet offered real time tracking and a text option when it was time to come back(15 minute window). It took nearly an hour from signing in to walking out but I was able to run a few other errands and shop in store while waiting so it wasn't a waste of time. I think I'm done selling to crossroads after my most recent experience here. I always come to crossroads with a free day knowing that it'll take a while to sell, so I was super happy/surprised when I went in on Saturday and the waiting list was completely empty. I put my name in, was the only one on the list for a while and...it took them two hours to get through my 3 bags. I figured they were probably just understaffed or something, but eventually I went up to the counter and found out they forgot(?) to let me know they were done sorting through my stuff. The staff at the counter had switched, so maybe my order got lost during a shift switch? Anyways, it's possible I didn't hear my name, but I was sitting at the front almost the whole time with no headphones, so it seems unlikely to me. I also signed up for the text alerts, but never got anything through there. This location is fine for shopping, but go to the market location if you want to sell. If you're looking to sell some of your items, I suggest finding another place. The people who work here are not knowledgeable of what they are looking at but require searching online to see if the same thing is sold elsewhere. Style is subjective and it depends on who is reviewing your stuff. A few months ago a buyer rejected a Karl Lagerfeld jacket I was looking to sell. Today someone agrees to take in a leather bag but didn't know how to price it accurately. Meanwhile on their racks you will find sweaters with lint, shirts with worn out collars, broken fittings. What happened to training their buyers to look at quality? I was called up after 10/15 minutes of waiting. This location is a waste of time for selling. Cute options for buying but I spent 2+ hours waiting to sell on a Wednesday afternoon. When I asked how long it would take the women at the counter said "not too long". 2+ hours later!!! Additionally the buyers have no respect for peoples time. They were having personal conversations the entire time and thus making this process much longer. Crossroads is a joke to sell to them. I had Italian flats, brand new, from Milan, originally over $300 and they only priced it at $28 retail. Only reason I was trying g to sell them is because they are too big for me. They didn't even buy my lightly used Vince Camuto heels. And when looking at their inventory on the racks, their clothes are ugly and old-fashioned. I don't recommend Crossroads to buy or sell. In response to the store comment - NO your comment did not help. Your buyers do not know anything about quality products and probably only care for "basic" popular brands in the U.S. Your store sells over-priced Uniqlo and Target Brands. read more

I like selling here. All the buyers I've sold with are super friendly and I usually end up having a great conversation about anything from binge worthy shows to skin care while passing the time as they're sifting through my hand me downs. I thought the company use to do 35% cash but it's 30%, don't know if that's a recent change or a decade's worth of change - time and I don't seem to get along. Anyway...don't be hurt if they don't buy your brand new J Brand Jeans or NWOT whatever the brand, sometimes that's just not what they're looking for at the time. Sometimes I'll hold on to an item until the next season and I'll try again. If it fails me twice, it's just a win for Goodwill. Ain't nothing wrong with that. What is going on with this store? I've been coming here for years and even though I understand that Covid is playing a role -- the racks are beyond empty - Men's and Women's. Plus the level of brands they are selling have really fallen by the waist side. When asked, one of the sales assistants claimed they are being "pickier" due to the lack of crowds -- except how can you attract potential customers if you have NOTHING to sell??? The Fillmore and Market Street locations seem to be doing fine in attracting folks to sell them their goods - I guess that old adage of "location, location, location" means something here -- this store can't attract anyone with nice clothes to sell in the Sunset. read more

I have been here before as a buyer, but now I can say I've also been a seller. I'll break down my review as such. BUYING If you take the time to look, you'll actually find some gems. I was able to buy a like-new Mango jacket for $50. It still had the original tag on it (99€ = basically $110). The clothes are predominately XS or S, but I can still find stuff in a M or L! However, I've seen some clothes and shoes that are clearly worn out, some with stains. The fact that someone has accepted articles in the condition it was in gave me hope for selling. SELLING Granted, I've never sold before, so I wasn't sure what the process was. I came in with a bag of items to sell (just 3 pairs of shoes, all in like-new condition. By that, I mean I've only tried on two of the pairs once, and the other one I've worn twice). I saw there were two people at the counter, standing perpendicular to each other. One was ringing customers up, while the other was looking through items that one lady was trying to sell. The lady that was selling stood at the counter, watching the associate look through her items, and I stood directly behind aforementioned lady. Well, the lady ended up taking a seat, and I assumed the associate was going to help me next. I was clearly waiting for her, but didn't take the two steps I needed to in order to approach the counter. The associate disregarded me. Another woman walks in with two trash bags of items she wanted to sell and the associate glances over at her and asks if she had any questions. WHAT THE ACTUAL F---. Hello?! So the woman with the trash bags stands beside me and says she came in to sell items, and the associate tells her to sign in at the iPad. At this point, I was IRRITATED. What do you think I was standing here with my bag of items for? To gawk at you? Or am I just invisible? I didn't even notice the iPad. Maybe if this particular associate decided to acknowledge me, I could've beaten this other woman to the iPad. Darn! Mind you, the woman I was initially standing behind of had 4-5 bags of items. At this point, I debate if it's worth waiting x amount of minutes just to possibly have my three pairs of shoes (wedges, booties, sandal heels) rejected. I decide yes, because it's been sitting on Mercari and Poshmark longer than I would like it to. It took half an hour to get to me. I felt bad because I witnessed a lot of bags get rejected because it was "fast fashion." It was very interesting to me because I've previously seen fast fashion items in-store. (That's right, I'm talking about you, Forever 21). Maybe it was purchased by mistake and now Crossroads is truly enforcing that they only want good quality, trendy pieces. The woman that looked through my shoes is named Michelle. I thought she was absolutely lovely! She was a great conversationalist, and very fair, in my opinion. She explained the process in-depth and I was very thankful she purchased 2/3 pairs. She didn't take the wedges, but I understand it's a hard item to sell... also they're objectively not in-season right now. (I say "objectively" because SF doesn't really have seasons.) She gave me the option of either trade or cash. Trade would've left me with a higher value in store credit I could use, but I wasn't looking to purchase anything right now. So I took the cash. At 30% of the retail value they appraise the items at, I was left with about $15.75. That made me a little sad, but I was more concerned with clearing up my shoe rack and having at least some sort of pocket change. Besides, to put it into perspective, these are heavier items to ship. In time, I might've been able to sell the shoes at a higher price, but Poshmark or any some other selling app would've taken a hefty commission. read more

Let me first by saying I've sold many times with crossroads and my second time at this located. I'm disappointed and annoyed. Waited for about 45 minutes to finally get helped. But before that. Only one person buying back while another co-worker were just chatting it up. Finally called me up and I get the lady that breaker the other girl. I stepped out for may my 1-2 minutes then looked around the store. 5 min max, she was done with all my clothes. I brought a large bag and bin of sneakers and she didn't take anything. After thinking about, once I left, the clothes inside the bag didn't looked touched and she only said, she are not taking puffers or later jackets. (Summer time sure) but I had lululemon, Nike, adidas , carhartt clothing. I left and went to the Fillmore and Oakland (College) stores and they took a good amount for clothing. Even the "puffer". The products in the store are nice.. however some of the clothes I bought from my last visit were stained... the staff is usually friendly but one particular staff member decided to bark at me for trying on a jacket. She definitely added a sour element to our experience.. I know that Covid has been difficult but I don't see the need to stomp over and scour at a paying customer. I like dropping off my clothes here since Crossroads is known for buying designer and brand name clothing, shoes and handbags. I hadn't dropped off clothing in years, and wanted to empty out my closet to get ready for 2017. I came in around 11:15am (they open at 11am) and already I was 3rd in line. You check in on an iPad, put down your phone number and # of articles of clothing you want reviewed by them. I ended up grabbing lunch down the street and it literally took 45 minutes before I was up next. Get ready for a long wait! With 6 bags of clothes of random clothes, some designer, some just regular clothes, they took $300 of my stuff. You can either take 50% of that as store credit, or 30% cash. So I got $100 cash out of it! Super sweet. But they are super picky about the season of your clothing which is annoying since San Francisco in general doesn't have any seasons! But whatever. Seems like they also take a lot of items with the price tag still attached, and brand name items. For instance, I sold my Le Sport Sac Tokidoki bag from 2007 that I barely used, and also some Toms with the tags on that were brand new. Tip: Be ready to spend your afternoon here, or around the area. It takes a long time for your name to come up, it takes a long time for them to filter through all your clothes, and a long time for them to set a price for each item they are buying from you. It's ridiculous. And there are only 2 people filtering through clothes, which can take a long time if the person in front of you brings 6 bags (like me). I think next time I'll just come in 5 mins before it opens. Also, they have this thing online where you can request for bags, send all your clothes in it, and whatever they don't take will be donated for you, which is also super convenient! read more
