Amazing attention to detail! My grandmother and mother were both seamstresses, so I grew up around people who paid attention to the details. I brought my daughter's prom dress there to be shortened as well as it needed a bustle. She was spot on in how she approached the train and what it needed. She was brilliant how she hid the loops. My daughter said she was stepped on, but due the the reinforcements and how she crocheted the loops, it was all perfect. I will return and highly recommend her expertise. I also found her pricing reasonable for what we were asking of her. It was no easy task. Please give her plenty of time, she gets busy at prom time due to her experience, so buy the dress and head straight there would be my last word of advice. She earned 5 stars! read more

We bought my daughter's prom dress at a bridal dress salon and they quoted me a price to hem the gown for a $165. We paid $200 for the dress. I took it to Crow Canyon Alterations and Jessica did an amazing job and only charged $55. It took a week for the alteration so make sure to allow the time needed. I highly recommend coming here and will be back for future alterations!! read more

I love the little lady that works here! She remembered my name the minute I walked in! I got these awesome pants from The Limited for less than $20, size 2, wool-material which means it won't stretch over time, butt-hugging (definitely accenuated my most prized asset, lol) black pants for work! PERFECT! The only problem was it was waayy too long. I didn't care. It was a steal and I wanted it. So I came back to my most favorite alterations place to get my pants shortened! To start on a positive note...I will first say that part of my alterations came out great -- they did a wonderful job redoing the straps on a dress. I do think there is tons of room for improvement on communication and customer service. I was barely greeted and then was commanded to go into a fitting room. A smile would have been nice. I also feel I was significantly overcharged for the work needing to be done, nor do I feel the dress was taken in as requested -- basically I just gave them an extra $35 for who knows what. Terrible customer service! Just terrible! When I first went here, I thought the lady was just having a bad day so I came back a few more times to give them a few more chances because I like supporting local businesses. Brought in quite a bit of business but eventually got sick of the annoyed looks the lady gave me and other customers each time we came in. I don't know what the problem is since I've always been nothing but friendly and a good customer. I'm done with this place. If you don't appreciate your customers, then you won't have any!! I went to this shop today to see if I could get my wedding dress altered. It's a vintage dress, and I want to get the top re-worked since there is just too much bunchy material for my liking. She was helping another customer when I came in but she asked what I would like done and I tried to explain to her what I was looking for. She took one look at the dress and said there was nothing she could do. She said if she tried to alter it it would ruin the overlay material of the dress. I asked her if there were any other options and she told me I should just get a different dress. Then she said a couple "maybe you could do this", "maybe you could do that." She kept going back and forth between talking to me and helping her other customer, so I finally just asked "So you don't think there's anything you can do?" She said "No." so I left feeling helpless and disappointed. read more

A little over a month ago I HAD to get my wedding dress altered, last minute. I had researched other alteration places and people. I initially tried one woman that was located in Castro Valley working out of her home. I just knew that she would do a great job until she gave me the price of $200 for the bare minimum alterations. I couldn't afford it and tried negotiating with her. She took $25 off, still not good enough for me. So I remembered Crow Canyon Alterations way back when i started working they had tailored my business suit beautifully. Long story short, not only did they take me in after closing hours but they also quoted me $100 less than the CV lady and did a Phenomenal job on my dress and train. Whew! I've been going to Crow Canyon Tailors for as long as I can remember. When I don't buy custom, and when I shop at discount retailers (NEVER PAY RETAIL!!) then my threads get shaped up by this little gem tucked away near the almost top dog and the best crispy taco's in the east bay, also my shoe guy is two doors over so I make it an alteration, shoe shine, mange fest every now and then. Crow Canyon Alterations, thank you for at least making my clothing look good despite the body that serves as the public hanger. They have never done me wrong and their prices are more than fair. I even send my dad there to get his "dunagrees" hemmed with the original leg finish, sometimes you can teach an old dog new tricks.... read more

Thank you Yelpers for leading me to this place. I took in a Kenneth Cole wool dress coat to have the sleeves shortened. I usually do most of my own hemming of my pants, etc, but this was more involved than I wanted to attempt. This jacket is lined, plus it had decorative button-down tabs on the sleeves that needed to be moved up when the sleeves were shortened. So, I took the jacket here based on the reviews. This place is awesome. The lady (possibly the owner?) who helped me was great and it was ready when promised. $30 to have the sleeves shortened, I thought that was a good price. The sleeves are the perfect length, she moved the button-down tabs up the arm in keeping with the new length. The alterations are extremely well done and the jacket is now perfect. While they do a decent job with alterations, the prices here are steep, and I find they lack the desire to "go the extra mile" for a customer, like other tailors have. They charge consistently more than other places for the same services, and are unwilling to give an extra stitch or snip here and there. I took my $400 True Religion jeans (crazy I know) in here to get them altered as they were too long. I was nervous about them not matching the stiches etc. They did an AMAZING job! It cost me $25 but you couldnt even tell the difference! They were amazing and I dont mind paying the money as I wanted to make sure they took the time to do them right. This is now my new favorite alternation place and I come here whenever I need something done. read more

We have been going here for a long time and are always pleased with the results. But this last item pushed them into the stellar category for alterations. My husband bought ski pants that were about 1 1/4 inch too tight, being a seamstress myself I went out and purchased items that would be used to alter the pants. This involved expanding the waist, altering the lining, adding an expansion dart and changing out the elastic for the additional cinch belt. A big project I didn't want to get in to. I saw the easy way this could be done and left the supplies. She out did herself. Details from pulling off the waist, expanding it in the back, adjusting the belt loop very attractively - adding the expansion darts and altering the inside lining beautifully - I am impressed. The pants look like they are the original design from Marmot - not an expanded view. While you expect it to be adjusted correctly, the way she did the adjustment was time consuming. I appreciate her creative attention to detail and design - we are forever customers! Cash or Check only. read more

Went here for my alterations after reading the comments on yelp and they are the BEST! One of my pet peeves is when places remove the designer label and don't put it back on once they have alter the item. This place always does it right. I brought in a sweater that had a hole in the arm. She was creative and shorten the sleeve from the top of the arm sleeve where it meets the shoulder removing the section where the hole was! Wow ..what a great experience. So fresh out of college, I recently started a job which requires me to dress formal (suit, ties, sportscoats, etc.) I am NOT the type to be wearing all this type of clothing, I am a lot more comfortable in flip flops and shorts. So I buy all the clothes I need for work, and half the stuff doesn't fit me as well as I would like. I never had my clothes tailored before, so I check out this place by googling alterations in the area. The seamstress (Jessica) was so sweet and nice! I brought in all the clothes I needed to be altered, and one by one she fitted me in my outfits making marks and placing pins here n there. I swear ..when everything was done (roughly a week), it felt as if all of my clothes were specifically altered to my personal specifications. I never felt so good in my clothes before! My pants were hemmed perfectly (original hem), the sleeves on the sportcoats no longer look like hand puppets, and the shoulder area has no more puffy space between the jacket and my shoulder. I came here for a bustle for my wedding dress. They seemed rude on the phone but were friendly in person. My bustle took 2 weeks and I was charged $75. When I got my dress back, all that had been done was one button sewn on and 5 small loops of thread were added. She cut piece of ribbon to tie it all once I got there. I can't believe I was charged so much for so little and the bustle didn't hold at all on the night. The thread was so thin and held for all of 10 minutes and my dress was dragging all over the floor for the rest of the night. I will not come back here again. Went in to get my prom dress hemmed and add straps. She made the straps pretty short making my dress rise higher but overall she did a good job. The reason I gave 3 stars is because it is cash or check only and she gave me no notice of this. I had to drive to the bank and get cash in order to take my dress home, and I was in a rush since I had work. She also was pretty rude and was not customer friendly at all, if I'm paying her so much money I expect better customer service. read more

I work for the San Ramon Marriott and we have to wear dress suits. I have broad.. I mean crazy broad shoulders and having a jacket that has shoulder pads in it does not help me calm down that feature. I was nervous to get the shoulder pass removed, especially after reading some reviews here, which is why I took one of the my two jackets to test drive this place. I have now had two jackets with shoulder pads removed, a Nordstrom dress+jacket dry cleaned and today will be having a pair of pants altered. The man and women I have both came across are nice and I can't speak for everyone but I had a good experience here with all the services I have used. read more

This place is awesome! I have taken suits, dresses, skirts, pants and tops and have been happy with all of the results. They are quick to take measurements but do a great job of getting it right the first time. I have always been able to pick up my things within a few days if needed. Be prepared to pay a 50% deposit, but no worries - your garments will be handled with care and you will not be disappointed with the results! read more

I buy expensive jeans and always prefer to keep the original hem and I have never found anyone like Crow Canyon Alterations to do such a perfect job! I was amazed with the first pair of jeans and now I've been a loyal client for years and would not take my jeans or pants anywhere else! I grew up with a mother who is a sewing teacher, and even though I won't do it myself (too much work!), I do know when a job is well-done. And they do a great job at very reasonable prices. This is the 3rd place in the area that I've tried, and they do excellent work. For example, hemming jeans when you want to retain the original hem -- they don't just fold a cuff up and you're stuck with a bulky hem. They cut, restitch, and top-stitch. I've had sleeves shortened on coats where the cuff needs to be removed and put back on. Again, no short-cuts. My most recent thing was running in to have a patch sewn on my son's letterman jacket. Bulky leather sleeves that are darn-near impossible to sew on yourself. They opened up the lining to do it, and she did it for me in 2 hours so that he could wear it to the game that night. I highly recommend Crow Canyon alterations if you want a quality job that is reasonably priced. You won't be sorry, and your clothes won't be ruined! read more

Just had a really poor experience with this place. I generally don't write reviews but this lady is really rude and nasty and like an earlier reviewer commented does not treat her customers right. She seems busy so maybe her work is good but after my experience and witnessing 3 other customers getting talked to in a similar way while i was in there, I will certainly not be back to see and you should think twice about going there as well. Basically, I came in with a rush job on a Sportcoat. I called ahead to see if she could accommodate me and for an estimate on the job. The job was standard - take in the sides and shorten the sleeves. When I called I thought I might need the sleeves tapered too so my quote included that service as well (usually a pretty expensive job). She also included a rush charge of $15, so I thought her quote was fair but expected it to move up or down when I got there and she saw the jacket. When I got there she tried to charge me more than quoted. Which would be fine except that I actually needed less done than anticipated. I only needed the sleeves hemmed 1/2"(she wanted to charge $30 for that) and the body taken in (she was adamant about doing this a specific, more expensive way that was completely unnecessary. I have never had to do before on any of my coats). I have a feeling that because Im young and was in workout clothes at the time she may have been trying to take advantage of me here. But I wear a lot of suits and sportcoats, so I know how I like things done and I know what's fair. $30 to hem a sleeve is not a fair price. She wanted to charge me $65 for the body and then tack on the rush charge of $15. I stayed respectful and patient though, hoping we were just having a communication issue. So I told her it was too much and that I would just have the body done, but taken in on the center seam (normally what I have done). Before I could finish my sentence she got upset and was already taking out the pins she had put in to mark the jacket, haha. I had had enough by then so I walked out and took it somewhere else. Coincidentally the next place I went gave me exactly what I asked for at a fair price and without the attitude. So just do yourself a favor and take your clothes somewhere else. read more

This is the best alterations place in San Ramon. I trust her with all of my clothes and she does a fantastic job with complicated jobs. The turnaround is usually about a week and I've never been disappointed. Excellent service and super friendly. I've have been going to this establishment for many years. The quality of the work has gone downhill and management is extremely rude and unprofessional. This establishment was more friendly when Tom was working there. I brought in some suit pants to get altered but they never fit right. After bringing the pants back a second time management made it seem like it was my fault. The last straw was putting a patch in my pants without telling me. After I called the owner to ask her why she didn't tell me about the patch, she was extremely rude about it. Since this experience, I have been going to Essy's in Pleasanton. They were able to remove the patch and alter the pants correctly. Do yourself a favor, go to Essy's Tailoring. You will get better service and be treated in a professional manner. read more

I had gone to Jessica for a few things here and there over the years and she did an awesome job...hemming or fixing a zipper type stuff....but brides beware!!!! Jessica does not specialize in wedding dresses like her business card portrays. The story starts with a "special after business hours" appointment one Sunday afternoon where Jessica would be able to fit my 5 bridesmaids and me into her schedule. I thought wow, great customer service until she asked me to step off the pedastool where I was being fitted to take another client who walked into the middle of our appointment. She probably took 2 or 3 people between our "private" booking. Anyway, we left feeling a little uneasy about her professionalism but nonetheless happy to have payed "cash or check only" and would be back in a month when the dresses were finished/ ready for a second fitting. One month later, I arrived for my wedding dress fitting with my mom. We were excited to try my dress on when Jessica handed me the dirtier than before garment bag...she rushed me into the fitting room and encouraged my mom to help. Inside the fitting room I was shocked to find my white wedding dress full of red, black, brown, you name it threads and fabric shed dings from,I could only assume, being dragged on the floor. When we brought it to Jessica's attention she said that my dress was a lint magnet and that when I came to pick it up for good it would be clean. Come fitting time the dress had only been taken in in the hip area and not the waistband chest area yet like we had talked about. She hurried me along and said she would put a hook at the top of my dress and she couldn't bring in the side seams of my dress because it was "too hard." She went on to add that she told her daughter, "Don't buy dress like this because it hard to work on" for her own wedding. That made me feel great. Anyway, we were told it would be finished in a week and rushed along, not feeling confident that it would be taken in enough. One day later, my mom and I decided to printout a picture of my dress on the model to make sure Jessica knew what I wanted the end result to look like. Upon showing it to her, she insisted that I said that I wanted a hook at the top of my corset back...which wasn't the case....I wanted the dress to fit me like it looked on the model....the corset to be tight and fit in a "v shape" not completely closed. She yelled loudly "okay, okay, I do it but that's not what you said!" as my mom and I started to walk out of the store as I was now in tears, not confidant that she would "do it" she yelled, "I hate that dress!" It was at that point when we decided to take my dress elsewhere. Jessica clearly hated my dress and didn't want to bring it in anymore... And wanted to continue to fight with us whereas we just wanted my dress to be done correctly. Thank god we did take my dress away from her that day because upon a fitting back where I purchased my dress it was brought to our attention that the dress had been taken in almost 2 inches more on one side than on the other. The damage was almost unfixable but the ladies at "Trudy's" and "Jaime alterations" saved my dress! Yay for them and boo to crow canyon alterations! read more

I created a Yelp account to review this place. I have a suite jacket that doesn't fit perfectly. She wanted to charge me $45 to bring in the sides about 1/4th of an inch. I told her that was more than I was willing to pay, when her alteration suggestion wouldn't completely solve the issue. She said okay, and removed the pins. I asked her if she was willing to negotiate and she didn't respond. Just walked away. This place has 4 stars, I couldn't believe the crappy service. I left and stopped by two other shops and they were much nicer and much more reasonable. I'm not one to believe the bad posts, but I wasted my time coming here. I left more upset and disgruntled than when I arrived. There are other alteration places in San Ramon. Don't settle. Almost all dry cleaners offer alterations. Don't buy their lie that they are the only ones in the area. read more
