Since everyone else seems to be reviewing the dentist...I will too. I used to hate going to the dentist, now I don't think twice about it. I love this place. I don't know if they have some super dooper scheduling system, or if they're small, but I walk in and they all know my name. I like that I don't have to say "hey I'm so and so, I'm here for a 4pm" ... They just know and remember me. Also, Dr. Adam, the periodontist is the greatest oral surgeon ever... and he's Canadian, ehh? I also love that I can schedule just about anything and not have to wait for 3 months. Not that I need it, but I could probably pick up the phone and schedule a root canal for next week and get it done. I don't always quite understand the billing they do, but the insurance picks up everything I've ever had done there so it's somewhat non-issue... If they have any flaws, it's with their billing... Every time I visit, a week or two after I'll get a random bill ... Then I'll call and they'll say it was a mistake and to ignore.. Or last time when I was leaving I tried to pay my co-pay, they told me I didn't need to... Then a week later I got a bill for my co-pay. Then a few days after that, I got another saying it was automatically paid out of my FSA account... But then a few weeks after that I got another bill saying I needed to pay it and they charged me 40 cents interest. Over the weekend, I fell on my jaw and cracked off a tooth. I knew I needed to get my tooth repaired fast but had no appointment scheduled with Diverde Dental Studio. Monday morning I went in without any appointments and was hoping that they can help me on the fly. The receptionist looked at me and saw that I was in fact needing a dentist to look at my jaw. She told me to hold tight and went thru the entire office looking to see if she could find any dental specialist to examine my tooth. She found Sabrina Cinqui, she asked me to step into her office and took a quick look and asked me a few questions, to my surprise she knew what was needed and glad to know that within Diverde, they have their own lab to make moldings on the fly. In less than 2 hours, I had a cap for my cracked tooth and able to smile now until they make me a permanent mold for my tooth. High recommend Diverde for all your dentist needs. read more

I went in for a tooth extraction and instead of pulling the tooth, he told me the tooth might be saved, called an endodontist colleague, put on his coat, and walked me the two blocks to the colleague's office himself. Dr. DiVerde had an hour of his time booked for me but instead of doing the procedure, and getting compensated, he did the compassionate, ethical thing and placed me in the capable hands of Dr. Davenport. Let's be honest. No one likes going to a dentist. We fear the pain we think is associated with our visit. At the same time our teeth are so essential for us. Also, to find a good dentist whose interest is not his/her profit but a wellbeing of his/her patient is not easy at all. Dr. DiVerde is one of the rear exceptions. He is a true artist in his field. Even if I know some discomfort will take part during my visit, mostly if not all because of my own negligence, I am looking forward to seeing him. Why? I know I will be in good hands. I know he will do only what is in my best interest. I know he will not do any treatments which are not required. Last but not least I know I will feel better. I also know we will have good time. I am tough manly man. But I am SOOOO SCARED of dentists. I have not had any good experiences with dentists. A friend of mine told me about Dr Diverde because I was in horrific pain. I had no choice but to go. He was so good and cool with me, I barely felt even the first needle. He was very gentle, thorough and caring. There are too many great dentists in Chicago to risk your credit with this one. I just ran my credit report and saw a collection amount for 12 from Diverde. I paid them 12 dollars two years ago. The next time I went (not knowing they had turned me into a collection agency for a paid bill) they misplaced the record of me paying them 25 dollars. "Oh, there it is" was the response when I called to point out my payment later. When I called about the collection agency issue it was obvious that they had the complaint before and didn't care. I like the office and the doctor but risking your credit is not worth the view of Millennium Park. read more

I rarely give a negative review, but Di Verde Dental Studio's office is enough of a pain that I've decided to go elsewhere. I had gone several times for regular cleanings. The hygienists were ok, and they do have a great view of the park and the lake from their chairs, but it's not worth it for me. Like Dane K. said, I don't understand their billing. Most places overcharge for their services to milk as much insurance money as possible, then they send you a notice showing the total and the amount insurance covered, but they don't actually charge you for the little remainder insurance doesn't cover. I have really good insurance, which covers $250 per cleaning twice a year, and also covers regular x-rays. I expect that any decent dentist office would work with my insurance so I don't need to hassle with billing. But Di Verde sent me bills for $4 or $5 after each visit. I naturally assumed that like other places, it was the customary milking insurance money and not actually expecting me to write a check for $4. But after a couple visits they sent me a billing reminder, so I called and talked to a woman in the office who said, ok, they'd waive it. Then I got a late payment notice. I called again and got the office manager who said there was no note on my account that I didn't have to pay, and she gave me total attitude about why I wouldn't pay it. I really don't care at all about the money, but it's just obnoxious and annoying to have to both with writing checks for those sums. Now call me modern, but I haven't payed a bill with a check in ages, and I send at most one piece of postal mail a year, so it's really a pain when someone sends me a paper bill, much less for $4. I'm bound to forget about it and get late notices, since I'm just not used to working with paper, and it can require a special trip to the post office to buy a stamp. I wouldn't mind at all if it were a reasonable bill, but this is ridiculous. My partner also goes there with the same insurance and has never been billed for the $4 remainder. He called and asked about it, and the office manager gave him major attitude too. Besides just not wanting to waste my time bothering with mailing $4 checks each visit and having to remember to do so, they've lost my trust and the woman on the phone was such a jerk that I've decided to go somewhere I don't have to think about billing -- that's why I have good insurance. Other people may not consider this a hassle and might not mind going here. read more

Dr. DiVerde is the best for three reasons: 1) He provides exceptional dental care. 2) He doesn't pressure you to pay for services you don't need like so many other dentists. 3) He's hilarious and makes going to the dentist a pleasant experience. I started going to Dr. DiVerde a couple of years ago after two years of trying to get my old dentist to fix the dreadful crown she put in. On my first visit, I told Dr. DiVerde about the problems I was having with my crown--I couldn't chew on that side of my mouth, I was grinding my teeth, etc. I asked him specifically if I should get a mouth guard because of the teeth grinding. He suggested we adjust my old crown first and see if that helped before wasting $300 on a mouth guard. Thanks to Dr. DiVerde, I could actually chew on that side of my mouth for the first time in two years!! And, I stopped grinding my teeth WITHOUT having to blow $300 on a mouth guard! Dr. DiVerde is not in my insurance network so I have to pay extra to see him, but he is worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY! Especially since he's NOT trying to scam me out of hundreds of dollars for something I don't need. While we're on the subject of money, I NEVER have any problems with billing at Dr. DiVerde's office. They'll even call my insurance on my behalf to confirm whether a service is covered before I schedule an appointment. As Lee C. said, mailing a paper check in the electronic age can be a big pain, especially if it's only for $4. However, it is ludicrous to suggest that they shouldn't bill patients for the amount. It may only be $4 in your mind, but if you multiply it by hundreds of patients, that $4 becomes a pretty large sum of money. I've been seeing Dr. DiVerde for nearly a decade and he's the total bomb. (Note: He has been Barack Obama's dentist since way back in the day and now he is official Dentist to the President and has been to the White House and everything. Bonus!) While I've mostly had routine cleanings, I've had a couple of other services there and received state-of-the-art treatment every time. Dr. D is very fun and personable and the office is immaculate. The office staff is okay but at the end of the day they aren't the one drilling holes in my teeth so who cares. The hygenists are a little chatty but competent enough. Dr. DiVerde has restored my faith in dentists! As someone who grew up without dental care/insurance, now in my mid-20s, it's all damage control. I've had a couple of shoddy dental jobs that I have paid for (monetarily and in terms of personal discomfort), and all I wish is that I could have found Dr. D earlier in my life. Fortunately, I've picked up a lot of great education from working in the dental hygiene association, and someone there recommended Dr. D to me. It was the best recommendation I've ever received. Dr. DiVerde has coached me through numerous cavities, a couple of crowns and root canals, and if any of those things COULD be painless, they would've been. I have never felt judged for the quality of my oral care, or if my routine hasn't been perfect. Dr. D always talks me through his recommendations, never rushing me, but explaining the consequences of waiting. His dental hygiene staff and the assistants are always pleasant, offering a lot of education and recommendations of their own, but they never push any services on me. You can tell they are all passionate about oral care and the health of their patients, and they all seem so driven to learn more. I think that's the atmosphere Dr. D creates. The team at DiVerde Dental Studio really offers you all the tools you need to take charge of your oral health, and they hold you accountable without making you feel so guilty for not flossing that you are ashamed to come back. When people are so willing to help you succeed and be healthier, it's hard not to want to step up and make them proud. The front office staff (Peggy and Jamie) are the most patient, kind, and helpful pair you will ever come across. They're easily accessible by phone or email, they confirm all appointments, and submit pre-estimates before expensive care actually gets done. I am a really annoying patient because I am a bit of an insurance nut, but they are always willing to help me figure out the REAL cost of a procedure before going through with it. The only hitch with DiVerde Dental Studio is that they don't participate in insurance networks (I don't blame him for this, actually), so the cost of services may be a bit higher than what your insurance deems a procedure is worth. That being said, they are still reasonable charges--it's just the way insurance systems are set up. For me, that extra money is assurance in a job well done. If I've ever had any issues or been slightly unsatisfied with anything (like a rough edge on a cavity that was driving my crazy!) Dr. D gets me back in the office and fixes it right away, no questions asked. His whole team really stands by their work. This is a big change for me and all the drill-and-fill dentists I came across in my life who made me feel like it was my fault if something was uncomfortable after dental work. Yes, I am accountable for my dental care, but I've come across too many dentists who just wanted to charge for procedures and never talked about prevention, diet, or finding an oral regimen that worked for my and my lifestyle. All of the things that make Dr. DiVerde and his team shine. This place is worth every penny, because for the first time in my entire life, I feel like my teeth and gums are on track to getting healthier. And I have Dr. DiVerde and his team to thank for that. I actually look forward to going in and catching up with everyone on staff, because I know I'm getting the best care possible, and that THEY care about me. The hours work perfectly for those of us who work 9-5 downtown, as I can get in early, on my lunch hour, or after work. I moved to Chicago last year, and this is the BEST dentist office I have found. I see Dr. Gallagher, and she is wonderful. She has a great "chairside manner" and explains things really well. The front desk is also friendly and helpful. It's never difficult to schedule an appointment or talk to someone about your insurance or a bill. I have been a patient of Dr. Di Verde for over 15 years and send as many people as I can for him to care for. I am a Loop physician and appreciate the care and quality my referrals get there. He is an excellent doctor and the staff is professional yet fun. The person that reviewed the office above, Lee, has no clue what it takes to run a medical or dental practice. Doctors do not "overcharge" insurance companies to "milk" them. That is insurance fraud. And he should be ecstatic his balance is "only" $5.00, not angry that it isn't written off. It is ironic he says a "decent" dental office would ignore a balance, again, insurance fraud. Dr. D is my dentist and my friend and I can't give a strong enough recommendation for him and his office. Dr. Diverde is a nice dentist with the WORST staff possible. The front desk receptionists are rude, and after 2 disappointing visits I've decided to go to Downtown Dental instead. They have terrible phone and in-person etiquette. My first visit, a receptionist called me to cancel my originally scheduled appointment and then she had the audacity to be inflexible with my reschedule time. She was rude over the phone and rude in person. Due to my work schedule, I had to come in as their last appointment of the day. The receptionists were too busy talking to each other and packing up their purses to even notice that I was standing there waiting for them. I made a 2nd appointment to give it another try because Dr. Diverde is a pretty nice guy. Big mistake. The receptionist said my hygienist is no longer employed with them and I can "go somewhere else" if I wanted. If you want to go to a dentist office that believes in great customer service and general politeness and manners, Dr. Diverde's office is NOT the place for you! read more

I've been meaning to give Dr. DiVerde a review for the longest time. To put it bluntly Dr. DiVerde is a ROCK STAR in my eyes! There was a long gap in between my last two visits due to financial reasons and not having dental insurance. I had a major dental issue with badly bleeding gums. Needless to say I was freaked because I was afraid that I was going to have some teeth extracted and that's the absolute last thing that I wanted to happen. When I went to that first appointment after the long gap between the last one I was crying because I was terrified that I was going to have some teeth pulled and Dr. DiVerde was able to calm me down. I realized that I had to take care of the issue right away but didn't have the money. Dr. DiVerde worked with me. He provided me with free X-rays. I was relieved that I didn't have to have any teeth pulled. He reassured me that my teeth were in very good shape considering the fact that it was many years in between appointments. I was happy to learn that all I needed was a deep cleaning. That process lasted for two hour and a half hour appointments. My hygienist Jennifer was the bomb and kept me relaxed. After both deep cleaning appointments Dr. DiVerde gave me a free sonic toothbrush as well as a free water pic air floss. I do a much better time of maintaining my dental health ( I could do a better job though). To top all of that due to my financial situation Dr. DiVerde put me on a payment plan that was manageable. Needless to say Dr. DiVerde will be my dentist for a long long time. If I could I would give him three thumbs up. As I stated before Dr. DiVerde is a ROCK STAR!!!
