I was very disappointed with the driver examination at Crowfoot Registry. I paid $85 for my son to take the road test. Within 12 minutes the examiner was back and failed him. "He needs to be stopped not too far, not too close to the car in front," I was told. "He was doing 40 kph in a 50 kph residential area." In other words, my son needs to be Goldilocks ("not too close, not too far") and shouldn't be a cautious driver. Driver exams seem to be a money-making racket at $85 a pop and failing young drivers for the goofiest things. I guess this keeps them coming back and ringing up the sales at Crowfoot Registry, but I'll be taking all the rest of my registry business elsewhere. read more

Absolutely dysfunctional registry. Sent me away twice for additional documents to prove my teenager is indeed my kid, and on third visit when I had all the paperwork, I wasn't asked for a proof at all. read more

Do not use Crowfoot Plates Registry! They processed our application and then subsequently threw it out and lied about trying to contact us. The staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. When we moved here from out of province we went to Crowfoot Plates and they processed out health coverage application and told us we should receive our health cards in the mail shortly. I later found out they actually threw out our application and lied about trying to contact us about a missing date on the application form, the same form they already went through and accepted. We never received any call/email/mail and they had all our information on file. The lady I spoke with was extremely rude and unapologetic. Complete morons and wish I told them to their face, but rather I asked if they would like to be part of the solution instead of the problem so they had to deal with me for another five minutes. Tried to register a vehicle under my name without the insurance holder, was actually helped fill out paper work to okay everything. Came back the next day and was told I filled it out improperly (even though it was looked over by their staff the day before) and also told I couldn't even register my vehicle even if it was filled properly because of something the "employee" missed in the fine print the day prior. I use employee in quotations because I don't think you should be employed for over $15 an hour legally for sitting on your (usually) aged, clearly lethargic ass all day clicking keys and sending people home on a wild goose chase for usually impossible to find paperwork. It's indescribable how angry and confused I left walking to my unregistered vehicle in their parking lot with zero effort put in on their end to move my progress forward. The woman who helped me as kind as she was didn't know what she was talking about, stumbling all over her words constantly contradicting her self and the rules for what I need to get done, yet no more or less help than the woman who helped me the day before. I grew up in this area all my life and this place has failed every single person I've ever heard of try to get their license or GDL there and most will try a different registry and pass the next day, I believe collecting the fees over and over again is the only reason they are in business. Zero stars for them and you know what I get 5 starts for not calling anyone the C word while I was there. 5 stars for me. read more

I've had my drivers license for over 10 years and decided to finally take the GDL road test. And let me say the test was pretty tricky, my particular instructor had a very specific route planned out, a route that had quite a few little tricks and think fast moments. Ive lived in Calgary my whole life and have been driving for a long time and this route he had conceived was about as difficult as you could make it around that area. I did pass the test on the first try , but what he dinged me on was pretty small stuff, (signal too soon, 1 and half second behind the vehicle in front of me, instead of two seconds,an aggressive lane change).Im giving a good review because it was a tough test but completely fair,its nice to know that some shmuck cant just fluke this test, you really need to pay attention. So a warning to anyone thinking about taking the test at this particular location,(ive heard the marda loop one has better results in passing). Make sure your ready and confident before taking your road test here. read more

If you are elderly or have elderly parents and they need to renew their license for the last time in their life please don't have them go here! My mother was continuously embarrassed by the road tester saying things like"you seniors don't know how to shoulder check " and" You seniors drive too slow" leaving my mother stripped of her self confidence and feeling "old". After 50 years of driving in Canada and NO CAR ACCIDENT ever she was turned away 3 times! She paid over $300 in testing and 2 hour lesson and still no license yet! Why would some one like that be a hazard on the road and unable to get drivers license?It just seems strange to me that a person driving that long would have to pay so much money to get a driving license. Exactly how much money do you have to spend if you are elderly person to get your license renewed? I would NOT recommend anyone go to this registry . read more

Long lines with employees standing around chatting is a bad start, but the part that grinds my gears is the blatant cash grab that it is, the drivers tests are set up to fail until you've paid them for a second test at least. If you're looking for a place to do a licence test, keep looking, the testers will grossly over-estimate your speed and dock you for it as well as blatantly make up infractions to make sure you fail. read more

AVOID THIS BUSINESS! IT IS TERRIBLE!!! This registry is by far the worst registry I have ever been to; to be quite frank, I'm surprised they are still in business. I prepaid $130 a week in advance to book an appointment for my class 5 drivers test and they mentioned nothing to me about having to pay my current speeding tickets before being allowed to take my test (which they are legally obliged to tell you this information). The day of, I went to my appointment and arrived 20 minutes early, and they tell me that I have 15 minutes to pay off my speeding tickets or else I cannot take my test and will not get refunded the $130 I prepaid (on MasterCard). Oh, and by the way, I cannot pay my tickets with credit or cheque, it MUST be by debit or cash (even though they accept credit and cheques for their own revenue). I run to the bank and come back with minutes to spare, and the owner of the registry, Brenda, tells me that I came too late and she gave my appointment to someone else and didn't have time for me to take my test, even though she had 25 minutes to spare to argue with me about this. I asked her for her business card and she lied to me about not having any with her. After I told her I wouldn't leave without getting her business card, SHE THREATENED TO CALL THE COPS ON ME. So I asked her to do such, and she didn't (because there were no laws that I was breaking) and instead gave me a piece of paper with her first name (I asked for her last name and she told me she couldn't provide that to me) and her employee number (03236). She was very unapologetic, VERY rude, INCLUDING RAISING HER VOICE AT ME, and scoffed and laughed at me multiple times while I was explaining to her how what she was doing was illegitimate and wrong. This was the most wretched and unprofessional woman I have ever dealt with in ANY sort of business, and the fact that she claimed to be the owner was just absolutely revolting. If you value your money, self-respect, and time, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT deal with this terrible establishment. read more

Terrible service! Last week, my 22 year old son came to Crowfoot Plates to get a temporary disabled parking permit. He presented the young woman with the form required, filled out and signed by his doctor. She stated that she was unable to issue a permit due to the fact the form was filled out wrong by the doctor. She indicated that 6-8 months, the anticipated length that the permit was requested by the doctor, had to be more specific. "In what way?" was my son's question. Her answer..."It has to be written as 6, 7, or 8." My son's response was, "Okay, so I'll take the minimum, then, 6 months." The young woman refused, continued to repeat herself, "It has to be 6, 7, or 8." "Your doctor has filled out the form wrong." There was absolutely no room for negotiation or a shred of empathy! I explained that he had no transportation to go back to the doctor and I was leaving to go back to BC in a few hours. It was pretty obvious he was disabled and recovery was going to be quite a few months! I don't believe there was ever even a "I am sorry...." in the whole conversation. Needless to say, we left as very disgruntled customers. My son did not need further stress, in addition to, post surgery recovery and it's complications. read more
