We read some bad reviews about the registry before coming, but thought we should give them a fair shot as this is the closest registry to where we live. Reading the reviews it seemed like the registry is always busy and the line ups are always brutally long and a waste of time. We must have been lucky that day as we arrived, there were only 4 people in line and we were quickly helped. The lady that assisted us was pleasant and helpful. She explained and took care of every single detail regarding our marriage certificate and right after she helped us with our registrations for both of our vehicles. This all took only 20 minutes! All of the ladies that work in the registry seemed really cheerful and friendly as well! I really couldn't find any fault at all with the registry, so I can definitely, without reservation recommend them. And will definitely come back to them for all of our registry needs! read more

Moving back to the city meant getting my health care and driver's license changed over from Ontario back to Alberta. Walking into the registry I found no line at the health care desk so I started there. This process took all of five minutes. I had to fill out a form and answer a few questions and that was it. It certainly wasn't the drawn out red tape filled process I was imagining. The drivers license took a little longer. Mostly because I had to stand in line. The lady I dealt with was quite pleasant, unlike the woman I had encountered a week before when I popped in to ask what information I would need to bring with me to get everything changed over. Again, just a few questions, got my picture taken, signed inside the little box and I was on my way. Unfortunately a few days later I got a call saying that my driver's license had expired a a couple weeks before I went to change it over. Oops! I thought my license expired in November but it was October. The agent explained that I had to get a letter of confirmation from Ontario or a copy of my drivers abstract. Luckily, Ontario has a program where you can go online and pay $12 for a PDF copy of your abstract. A few days later I dropped off the abstract at the registry and everything was taken care of. I had my new license in that mail in less than a week. read more

I have been heere a few times, first to register an out of country vehicle. It was quite the hassle and I was given attitude when I didn't have everything they requested. Sorry if I haven't imported a car before but how am I hassling you when this is your job? I just waited in line for 15 minutes only to find out I needed more paperwork, I should be the one with the attitude. On Saturday, I went in to pick up a bill of sale to sell another car of mine. There are lots of people working here which is much appreciated but any person I talk to here seems to be super grumpy (maybe working 2 jobs is too much and they should quit working at Air Canada). I suppose should give it 3 stars as it is a Registry after all and that seems to be the going prerequisite. 22/30 read more

The guys here actually reuin my day after I booked advance road test online having the test permit number from another registry already but unfortunately 5minutes to my test they told me that I'm not eligible to the test due to their incompetience... I had to go back the other registry where I got the test permit # and confirmed that I'm still eligible for the advance class 5...but they still persisted the same..yet they sounded ruin and don't listen to at all at all. I won't recommend anyone to book a road test here. They will really spoil your day. read more

Was supposed to take my learner's test here. But after lining up for more than 30mins under the scorching heat of the sun, they suddenly announced that they wouldn't be accepting exam takers anymore. They should have announced it sooner even before letting people line up in the first place! read more

worst experience at Southtrail registry office. My wife was there for knowledge test for her drivers license. Lady asked her her for photo ID, but unfortunately my wife didn't had it, cuz while applying for citizenship they took her PR card and drivers license was we were applying for. anyway, we offered her to present citizenship certificate, health card and tax documents to prove address etc. but she didn't accepted. Then we went to south land registry and told the lady that its the second place we are visiting and the REASON. She told us that it photo ID wasn't necessarily required since you are presenting more than enough to prove ID and proof for address. So everything went well there. And then we came back and reported the lady on CSR desk but instead of accepting the mistake, she started arguing with us even after showing test papers done at southland registry. So these are all same at Southtrail registry. Save time and choose any other registry service for your needs. read more

Don't ever come here. Worst system and always a slow line. These people hate their job and take it out on you. I'll never be back.

Let me begin by saying it appears to me the ladies on the front line staff are doing their jobs in a friendly and efficient manner. However that is not my issue. I booked a 2;30 class 4 drivers test arriving at about 2:10. The place was busy. No one was at front reception so I could not report in to say I had an appointment. I got in line. Over 20 minutes later I got to the front and handed over my paper work. I was informed it was 2:36 and I was late for the test. Then they said the medical was missing. I had the receipt for it. The ladies, manager included, referred the matter to an older fellow wearing a funny hat who was sitting at a table about 6 feet away. I learned it was he who was doing the testing and he was clearly calling the shots. As it was, he did not get up or even say anything: just shook his head no and looked away. He did not say one word. I get the impression the staff are not willing to cross him as the "manager" deferred to him when I proposed a quick trip home, less than 5 minutes, to pick up the medical. We could even do it on the test. The tester continued to sit there denying each proposal with a quiet shake of his head. Then I was informed that I would forfeit my fee for the missing document and being late. I objected. The tester simply shrugged. I have given a lot of customer service in my various careers over the past 40 years. Seldom have I experienced the raw indifference to customer satisfaction or willingness to accommodate a client. Furthermore, I feel like I just had $157.00 stolen from me. I do not recommend this establishment so long as the older fellow in the funny hat is there. Also they need to accommodate folks that have appointments. Making people wait in line only to tell them they are late is not appropriate. read more

Every time I go here I am continually impressed by the friendly quick service I receive. All the ladies seem very experienced and professional. I had to renew my registration and license and I was in and out in 15 min and that was with a line. They are an efficient crew. read more

I had trouble getting my identification card......I stopped in to see a lady at south trail ( Jen ) was her name. I explained to her what was going on..... she was so helpful in not only helping get this piece of ID but was also so polite and non judgemental..in 8 days I had the ID I needed to move about the world again. I'm on my way now to see her again in hopes to get a health care card. On another note my wife dealt with the same lady for out of province inspection and was in and out in no time...... Might I add that the second time I went to see Jen she knew me by name. how cool is that :) great experience and place! read more

Some of the instructors are adding ridiculous amounts of points for the same thing. He brings you into Makenzie area and when you pull forward after stopping at the stop sign to actually be able to see around the bend to make sure there ACTUALLY aren't any cars coming expect an excessive amount of points added on for every time you need to make sure you're not going to hit anything in the intersection. He will tell you that you're going to slow because technically you're in the intersection. So much for being safe, as well as if you're being careful on small snowy roads expect it to have marks taken off for "going to slow for conditions" where on the back it says "IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF TE DRIVE TO OBSERVE WEATHER, ROAD, AND TRAFFIC CONDITIONS AND DRIVE ACCORDINGLY" Its a total money grab failing you on things that are irrelevant to get you to pay again. i would just like to say that the road test instructor named David is not a very good instructor what so ever. While he may be friendly, I have had the test with him twice and he doesn't even take the time to find an actual hill to park on. In fact the first time he made me park parallel at a water hydrant and the second time i took the test i uphill parked on a straight road right next to a bus stop.. Both of those are illegal and it is sort of difficult to do your best on a uphill park when parking on a straight road and on a spot you are not supposed to park on. If he is going to be 20 minutes late every time i have a road test with him he might as well make that up by finding and actual hill. Not coming back ever again. read more
