(4/5) Crown is a cool spot if you're looking to shoot some pool, grab a drink, and just hang out with friends. The atmosphere is laid-back, and it's a great place to unwind. The only downside is that they don't serve food. The good news is they allow you to Uber Eats or DoorDash food and enjoy it inside while you play and have a drink, which definitely makes up for it. When I go some place and am being provided service from an establishment, I think that I'm gonna get a smiling face no matter what the circumstances are with the server and background or home life. Frankly, I don't give a crap what that is because when you come to serve someone at your job, You're supposed to bring a happy face and leave that negative vibes at the door no matter how much you hate your job, how hard your life is at home or how much you may despise that patron. I don't care. Normally, I would never leave a review for this place because I love going here because of the billiards but lately, horrible service received from the bartenders specifically Jennie and a few others that I won't name have been treating me and other patrons so horrible that it made me sick today. I was literally going to pass out because I was denied certain basic needs. Not only that but we were provided with dirty looks, no service and were ignored for requests for basic needs like water or other drinks that we would have liked to have during our time while we shot pool. Jennie is the worst person to ask anything from because she's rude and then talks crap about us to other patrons. It was so hot today approximately 90 or more degrees outside and 75 degrees inside Crown and my friends and I were ignored when we asked for water but denied entry when we tried to bring our own water bottle in. However she let others bring bottles in. One could say she's targeting me and my friends specifically or discriminating but either way it's REALLY BAD, HORRIBLE SERVICE for the being the face of crown billiards when the owners aren't present. The thing is about this place some of the bartenders get away with so much and don't get fired for how they treat patrons. They are allowed to get away with discrimination, gossip of patrons to other patrons, slurs, deprivation of basic needs like water requests, and favoritism and so much more. Believe me, I've experienced this for years from certain faces there and while some of them are ok, today's treatment was out of line. Her lack of service almost landed me in the emergency room bc I needed water so badly and almost passed out. I left for my own care and am leaving this review to warn others of this particular bartender, Jennie. Oh and she's a realtor too on the side, shame of her. She of all the people working there should know what customer service is about. SMH do better Crown Billiards! read more

I was extremely disappointed by what I saw here! During my visit, the staff was not adequately verifying IDs before allowing people into the bar. My underage daughter was allowed inside and I found her hanging out with 30 year old men! As a parent, that was very concerning because I don't feel they take preventing underage entry seriously. I would expect a bar to have much stricter ID checks to protect minors and comply with the law. Based on my experience, I won't be returning. They care more about business than ethics!! read more

I would not recommend this pool bar. The atmosphere was completely inappropriate, and it didn't seem like management cared about enforcing the rules. There were what appeared to be high school students wearing baseball uniforms hanging out, playing pool, and drinking beer. To make matters worse, my sister found my nephew inside, and he's not even 18 years old. If minors are being allowed in and alcohol is being served to people who appear underage, that's a serious issue. I expected a business serving alcohol to take ID checks and age verification much more seriously. I won't be coming back. read more

I really enjoy coming here and really like the pool tables. I noticed the felt was needing to be replaced on the table I was playing on and the women's bathroom floor was sticky which I find disgusting. The bartender is attentive and quick so no complaints there! read more

Came in with 3 of my friends looking to have a great time until I was at the bar and tried to order a drink for people at the bar as I don't drink. I was met by the bartender Lydia who greeted us angrily and asked us what we wanted. I felt she was very rude and intimidating to the point that I felt uncomfortable. I was trying to order a drink for my friends as I don't drink and she took a picture of me with her phone to show the owner that I am not allowed there. I came there to play pool and have fun and ended up going home because she asked me to leave for no odd reason. How does a business stay open to serve the public with employees that are rude and denying payment for services rendered. I'm disappointed in this location and do not recommend this type of hospitality. Rude and disrespectful for trying to support a local billiards is getting out of hand. LYDIA IS TERRIBLE- IM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE STEELERS, BUT SHE NEEDS TO THROW IN THE TOWEL. read more

This is the best place to have a drink and fun in San Ramon. Tons of pool tables and a good size bar to sit around. Its a true pool hall with a ton of tables and a lot of players. All the bartenders are nice and quick with the drinks. They got a jukebox to blast and and a few tv's playing sports. The prices are amazing and it's our go to spot. read more

Waiting 15-20 minutes to close out because all three bartenders ignore me but help other guest who arrive much later only reason I was able to is because a white friend of mine was helped before me, again after they arrived much later than me and my bud got their attention, I've been in and around the industry to 9 years from concord to Dublin and I've never been straight ignored so hard before usually leave a 30% tip because I know how it can be. Not only me but another buddy of mine whose colored was ignored with me. Only like 13 people at the bar top all others were at Bullard tables with 3 bartenders and I had a tab open for about 2 hours so not sure what that's as about First time here and probably my last as well. A novel experience at a familiar place, my visit to Crown Billiards was great. There was not a long wait for a table, and time flew by while we racked and rolled through 2 games. The whiskey options at the bar were a little restricted, but we had a great time regardless. It was slightly cozy, as the tables don't have much space between them. As strangers in a foreign land, people were accommodating and respectful when we needed to take a shot. I'd say Crown Billiards is a hidden gem, but not to those who know Danville. Great spot in San Ramon. I guess people drive an hour just to play pool here. It's a good late night spot for drinks w/ friends and ample tables to always have a game. You might have to wait if it's a weekend night, but as one of the only late spots in San Ramon you can't really complain. It's also next door to Ukai, which is a Japanese restaurant that stays open past midnight. Overall, Crown Billiards is a classic spot to catch up with friends -- I personally wouldn't drive +30 mins to hang out here though. read more

The service was absolutely terrible. I work in the service industry (20+years) and I was surprised by how bad it was. A friend and I tried this place on a Monday evening. When we arrived it was not busy at all. We approached the bar to get some drinks and were not greeted or even acknowledged for more than 15 minutes. There were 2 bartenders chatting and counting the money in the till. They were ACTIVELY ignoring us. Not a "hello" or even a "just give us a moment, we will be right with you". These two workers were clearly unhappy to be there and seemed so bothered by having to talk to us. They had the most unprofessional demeanors I've ever come across in a bartender. Half of a bartender's job is to talk to customers, that's how you get tips! Pro's -The place was mostly clean (though the door curtains were off putting and you have to touch them to enter and exit.) -Prices are good -open tables if you get there early Cons -Terrible service -Billiard Tables are a little to close together (the people at the next table were in our way as much as we were in theirs) -The lounge-ish area was crammed with small tables and didn't look inviting at all. read more

My girlfriend brought me here last weekend as a surprise. I was so excited to play pool, as I haven't done so in over a year because of the pandemic. It got pretty packed as it got later on Saturday night, so people are definitely aware that this spot is open (try to arrive earlier if you want to guarantee having a table). It also wasn't very expensive for a few hours of pool and a few drinks. Unfortunately, there wasn't much enforcement of mask wearing. I care about safety and physical distancing (it was sometimes tough to be 6 feet apart from other players), so that's the one thing stopping me from giving this spot 5 stars. Regardless, I am SO stoked that this spot is open and I plan to be back soon! read more

I totally love Crown and love our date nights there. Their tables are awesome, so it's no wonder they're always packed! Even the pay-by-game tables are really nice, as are their pool sticks and staff. Friendly bartenders are always working hard around their large, round bar. So there I was. At the miniature kiddie pool table that takes quarters on an odd Thursday night, 10/6/16. Although not the normal scene here the whole place is currently stuffed full of super sober pool leaguers - you know, the ones who kill the cool bar vibe with their intense competitive, uptight nature in a place meant to have fun and relax. They wear strange looking gloves that only cover one finger and chalk dangling from their belt loop as a cheap scare tactic to psych out their opponent. There was a 20 minute wait for the table clogged up by the pool league people but these kiddie tables were open without wait. Although not at the big boy tables this is still better than my normal Thursday evening that would consist of daydreaming of my friends dog, Piggy, and spit shining one of my cars. My friend John and I meet our perfect opponents: of similar skill level and mindset yet a they were already settled into the place and were a few drinks ahead of us. I learned this tactic from my little brother. Get your opponent super drunk then brag about beating him/her. Opponent Jeremy has to make a shot. He needs to get his ball through a narrow path between two of our balls. Will he make it? He compares this shot to a certain part of the female anatomy. This shot is impossible to get. He makes it!!! He screams his friends name Trevor!!! so loud he can hear it from across the entire building to the bathrooms. Good thing this isn't the Napa Valley Wine train. Been to this fine establishment many times before. Its one of the most classy pool halls around. In fact it feels more like a bar. If you are on a date and want to bring a girl here I would say its perfectly fine to do so. I can't say that about some of the other pool halls in the greater bay area that seem more institutional or dark. An added bonus is if you come here on a Friday night. Some of the crowd from the cougar bar next door come on over all dressed up. This really is a fine crowd. At the end of the night you know you will be taken care of. The bartenders really go out of their way. Barely capable of opening your Uber app? Not sure of where you are or where your going? The bartenders will help. They really go above and beyond to get you home safely. Well, its Thursday evening. Time to head off to the Sunshine Saloon to let my friend cream me at their air hockey tables. He loves that. Oh, and plus you get to see the crowd who will brave the karaoke there. read more
