I ordered: The Mac Dog (3.5 stars, $12.22) with mustard added and a side of fries ($2.60) The hotdog was your average packaged all beef dog, no skin or snap. The bun was a decent size to hold everything, but a little too much bread. The American cheese was standard quality, thin but melts well with the heat of the dog. All the toppings were fresh (Lettuce, Tomato, Diced Onions, Pickle Spear). I think the lettuce isn't needed, I'll skip that next time. The Bacon Bits are fresh made good quality smoked bacon, decent size cut, good stuff. The Yum Yum Sauce is their secret sauce, but it was very light and I didn't notice the flavor that much. I assume it is a mayo and paprika based with other spices, not sure. Maybe I'll order on the side next time. We love Triple D , we haven't been in lately b/c we were out of town but the crew at the location were just as great as Rob & Chris. I guess they were opening up their new location in Livermore. The hotdogs are good on the gourmet ( ish) side but still delightfully yummy . It's a quaint little restaurant & very clean. Rob & Chris are always consistently wiping down the bar top when they're working . There are two new guys but I can't recall their names but just as friendly & nice as Rob & Chris . I feel like there's no real good place to go grab a quick beer after work in San Ramon that's easily accessible until dare devil dogs came to town. They always have great beer on rotation and if you go enough, they'll learn your beer preferences. Sometimes I walk in and Rob will just pour me a beer and it HITS every time. We used to come here so much that we developed relationships with the regulars. There's always a group of people who are always here drinking beers and talking about sports or whatever's going on, they are always here for a good time and super fun to talk to. The service is excellent, the minute you walk in, you feel like you're a regular too. It's very family friendly, our kids love the "hot dog place". They have great food and it's always rotating with creative new things. I feel like the vibe is stoner food. It's not healthy, it's hearty and comforting and you may need a nap afterwards. Super friendly staff! My favorite was the pretzel bites and corn dogs! I also got myself a chili cheese dog and beer flight. The pretzel bite and corn dogs had a clean taste to it, not greasy at all! The chili cheese dog for me was okay but honestly wouldn't mind eating it again. I prefer a bit more firmer hot dog. We picked up a takeout order from DareDevil dogs. Everything was well packaged and high in quality. Service was really good and friendly. DH said the vibe they were going for is "the Cheers of San Ramon". People were just hanging out and watching sports on TV. I came here with my boyfriend and his daughter and the service was amazing always making sure we were good, the food was really really good. I got the Triple D burger, that was the best burger I've ever had. I absolutely loved how flavorful it was, the fries were really good and well seasoned. We also got the pretzel bites and the were nice n crispy on the outside soft on the inside like I like it with an awesome beer cheese and Dijon on the side, the forbidden fruit dessert was also delicious, I loved that caramel and icecream that came on the side. Im a burger girl, so I had the linguica smash burger, he had the jalapeño polish smash burger, and we shared the Sunday special loaded fries with gravy and scrambled eggs. The linguica "sandwich" I'll call it...was bland, had a dry bun, and was so slippery that everything kept falling out. Finally got to try this spot! It was definitely worth the drive from the South Bay. DareDevil Dogs is a nice quaint spot. You can tell it's good because there were tons of locals. The ambience is energetically loud, but not overwhelming at all. There are a few tables and seats at the bar as well as along the front windows. For the food, I literally wanted to try EVERYTHING, but I used self restraint and just ordered more than enough. My wife and I ordered... 1) inferno bites - their version of lumpia. Good flavor and a little hint of heat. Nice crunch! 2) Stooopid fries - the name pretty much sums up the fries: crazy, mad, and stooopid food! Great balance and plenty of toppings. 3) Texas Joe - a play on a sloppy Joe. I must say, it's the best sloppy Joe I've ever had! I really liked this place. From the moment we walked in on a Saturday evening, the owner/employee made us feel welcome. There were so many options for hot dogs on the menu, and we got the New York Style Dog and the Grilled Cheese Dog (from their hidden menu). The latter was so delicious, nicely grilled garlic bread, perfectly cooked dog, melted cheese (and even more cheese on the side, which I actually just used for dipping the fries). It was satisfying and cooked well. The NY Style Dog had good flavor too, however the bread was a bit hard (not stale, just tough). It was more of a hoagie roll type of bun. And the fries were amazing, thick, crisp, hot, and delicious, perfect for a quick and casual meal this past weekend. My husband and I love IPAs, but different styles, and Rob always recommends us the perfect beers for our individual palettes. Ambiance - Smallish place with 4 screens playing local games. Crowded bar area with simple wooden tables lining the north wall. I took a table with a good view of the screens. Menu - Unique and varied with brunch bites, burgers, and lumpia! I chose a "sausage burger" which consisted of a ground Linguisa grilled with onions, cheese and YumYum sauce. The fresh tomato and crisp lettuce made for a nice contrast, and the Portuguese bun was light and airy. The manager Ron wouldn't give me the bakery where the buns are made..... Fries - Regular fries come out in a big basket and are golden and crispy with a nice potato coating. Overall - A surprise and on my "Hole in The wall" list. Need I say more? 1/2 order of french fries (5/5): Crispy hot french fries (crispy on the outside and soft on the inside) Pickle Bites (3/5): Sliced pickles, Carolina mustard, American cheese wrapped in lumpia wrap, deep fried served with jalapeno aioli sauce. Other people might like this but it was not for me. Note: My wife wanted a unsweetened ice tea but they only serve soda cans (regular/diet), apple juice, and bottle waters for people who don't drink alcohol. I'm not sure if the gentleman working was the owner, but the way he was with all the customers in the restaurant shows that he is in the right place and doing the right things. DareDevil Dogs is a shoebox-sized bar/restaurant in a strip mall that you could easily miss, but you shouldn't. The people, food, and beer are what make it special. The staff and the regulars are all super friendly, and it's got a genuine neighborhood bar feel. The food is surprisingly good. It's basically all hot dogs and sausages, but they do some really interesting things with them. Some are like smashed burgers, some have Thai-inspired flavors... they're always switching things up. If you're into that kind of thing, you'll find something you like. And the drinks! They have a constantly rotating selection of beers and ciders, and whoever chooses them knows what they're doing. I've literally never had a bad beer there, and I swear I've never seen the same one twice. They even had a whiskey cider the other day that was amazing. Just be warned, it's a small place. The staff member who was also the bartender was preparing drinks but also checking up on the guests dining in, taking orders, and bringing them out. He did check up a few times which was nice and when guests were leaving, he immediately cleared and wiped down the tables. I tried their chicago style dog which came with cucumber spears, tomatoes, sport peppers, onions, relish, pickle spears, Carolina Mustard and celery salt. I guess I'm not too fond on peppers so I would opt out of that in the future. The bun was soggy. Their stoopid fries which are loaded with sausage were really good. In modest strip mall store front, you'll find Dare Devils a wonderful gem of a restaurant. And this is worth a side trip The food menu is small but inspired and delicious. Having Chicago roots, I had to have the Chicago Dog. It had the basic Chi-Town dog down but missed a few things that Chicagoans would expect. - Instead of a poppy seed bun, it had a Portuguese bun - Instead of radioactive green relish, it was a dark green pickle relish - Instead of bright yellow classic mustard, it used a hardy brown mustard I would say this was Chicago-style with a San Ramon interpretation, and it was... delicious! The soft Portuguese bun was terrific. The mustard and relish, thought not classic Chicago-style, complimented it nicely. The fries had an outside coating that made them extra crispy and great.
