We've had them for…read moreabout ten years and they are pretty much just like our children (with all due respect to those who have actual human children :) Over the summer, one of our dogs had emergency surgery (with months of recovery time and still has on-going meds), so we didn't feel comfortable with the kennel route. We had just moved to San Diego, to boot, and we wanted as little stress for the dogs as possible while we were away. On top of all that, we'd never left the keys to our house with a virtual stranger, and wanted to know our home's security would be a priority. Needless to say, we were really serious about finding a caring, trustworthy pet sitter. Lisa was among several pet sitters who came very highly recommended on Yelp, and we decided to interview her and two other companies before choosing the best fit for us. I mean, I was serious (if not over the top). My husband and I both had written-out questions, I had researched national pet-sitting standards, and we were determined to find the best person to care for our dogs (and our home). Of the people we interviewed, and while the other two were nice people, Lisa was by all measures the clear leader in professionalism, knowledge of pet-sitting standards, and down-right sweetness with our two pups. * Professionalism: Lisa is licensed, bonded and insured, and has excellent practices for medication administration, pet care and home/ key security. She took detailed notes at every preliminary meeting and by the time we left for vacation, she seemed to have every one of our detailed requests memorized. * Personal Touch: Lisa did a video chat over iPhone with us one day so we could "visit" with our two dogs (although they seemed to be perfectly happy just visiting with her!). We were gone for two weeks, and Lisa or her staff e-mailed every day with a brief update. She was very accommodating of every request we had, even when I felt like we were being crazy pet parents. * A true pet lover: Our dogs don't snuggle with just anyone. But the minute Lisa walked in the door the first time, they were up on her lap, giving her "kisses." We could not believe our eyes! Every time after that, they've been super excited to see her (and her staff) -- just as excited as when my husband and I come home. I truly could not ask for a more perfect fit! It was so important to us to find someone who would be as loving as we are with the dogs -- and we definitely found it with Playful Paws Pet Care!

Their website also says they are closed/no appts Sunday Monday & Tuesday, but they are open M & T. Anyway-- staff was great though the experience wasn't great before. Was on hold for a very long time when I called, but they were able to accommodate an appt switch once we did get in touch. Nice front desk guy, vet and vet tech were all very sweet- quickly booked next appt, called us for any issues with our pet and finished everything promptly. I believe the audio was being recorded on an iPad (it's no problem), but no permission was asked beforehand, which is strange since other vets do. In conclusion-- this is a business you HAVE to call to get help, would totally recommend in person service once you are there, would return if needed.
