I've been wanting to try this place & finally went today. They have a large selection of donuts + cinnamon rolls and also offer savory options that you could heat up: breakfast burritos, sausage rolls, empanadas, etc. I ordered a classic maple bar and what I thought was a pistachio donut (I asked and the employee confirmed it was pistachio). When I got home it was actually a full on blueberry donut inside with green frosting on top. I'm not a fan of blueberry baked goods so that was disappointing. The empanada somewhat made up for it. I got the Chilean pino since that was the only flavor left. I had never heard of the flavor (and neither did the employee). It was delicious...but over toasted. Next time I will just heat up the empanada at home to avoid this. I would return for the empanadas. It would be nice if the donuts had signage for the flavors and/or if the employees were knowledgeable on what they are selling so customers like myself don't go home with mystery flavors! read more

Not overly sweet. Just soft, balanced, and exactly what a cake donut should be. The Fruity Pebbles raised donut with white icing though? Exceptional. Light, fluffy, perfectly iced, and nostalgic in the best way. The kind of donut where you take a bite and immediately look back at the box like... okay, who's next? The cinnamon sugar twist was classic and comforting. Fresh, generously coated, and exactly what you want from a simple donut done right. Bonus points: The atmosphere was great. Bright, welcoming, and unhurried. The short-term parking out front made popping in easy (and felt brand new ), and the staff were kind enough to let me look-e-loo for a minute while I stood there happily overwhelmed by the choices. If you're in Maple Valley and craving donuts that are actually worth the stop, Crown Donuts is absolutely it. No gimmicks. Just really good donuts made well. After reading so many great reviews I decided it was time to give it a try and I was not disappointed. I stopped in last Friday morning, and they were having, a steady stream of clients. The two women working at the front were cheerful to everyone and very helpful. The woman that worked with me made suggestions and help me put together a dozen pretty quickly. The place was clean and well organized. These donuts were amazing. I tried several different varieties and each one of them was outstanding. I highly recommend this shop. read more

OMG! First time there, and based on word of mouth from other people, I made a leap of faith and got 4 DOZEN donuts to distribute at various stops on my travels today. Everyone I took them to LOVED them! I thought Safeway donuts were, eh, pretty decent, and I previously considered Pao's to be the absolute best of all possible donut worlds, but Crown actually leaves even PAO'S in the dust! Which I wouldn't have thought possible. I live on the Key Peninsula, so it's not exactly a small trip, but... I foresee a lot more mining for excuses to have my errands take me somewhere near Maple Valley in the future. read more

Oof super poor customer service. The employee there was incredibly rude to me. I pre-ordered for curb-side pickup online the day before and on their website, it says to order ahead to skip the line. So I arrived but there was no phone number posted in the parking area to call for curbside pickup. Ok that's fine. So I went inside to look for my order and the employee yelled at me to get in line and wait. I apologized and said I have an online order and she snapped at me that I can't just grab my order. Ok? She was so angry and staring daggers at me. There were like 12 people in line which is what I wanted to avoid by ordering online. And after all that, they got the order wrong. One of my favorite donut places. Always nice and friendly customer service. You can tell they make all of the donuts right there fresh. I like this place because every time you go there there's some type of new donut flavor or food item they are selling. I have purchased bread, empanadas, coffee and all type of other things and they all have been delicious no complaints. Today I went in and requested a special filled donut and the baker made it for me! I would highly recommend this place if you love donuts like me. Sadly, this wasn't a great first experience. The store was clean and well marked for social distancing (small lobby with signage for only 3 customers at a time). The person behind the counter was super-friendly and very patient and helpful (5-stars for the staff). Since it was our first time here, we decided to get a dozen to sample a variety of their offerings. We tried one of their breakfast sandwiches. What stood out the most about this sandwich was its complete lack of flavor. The egg, the cheese, the sausage, all in generous amounts, but we couldn't taste any of them... just textures. Also tried one of their sausage rolls. It was very picturesque and the outer pastry was light, fluffy, and tasty. The sausage had a good initial flavor but then came the burn. My best guess is that the sausage had jalapeno in it. Some may enjoy that, but it certainly wasn't what I was looking for. Now to what we came for, the donuts! Maple Pershing/Cinnamon Roll: Sad to say, there was essentially NO cinnamon spread in the roll. It was essentially a raised spiral donut with maple glaze. That being said, the donut itself was fresh, light and perfectly cooked. The maple glaze had a really good flavor. Unfortunately, it wasn't an isolated issue. My wife tried a plain glazed cinnamon roll, same thing (no surprise)... "Cinnamon Roll", just with no cinnamon. Old Fashion: Pretty darn good overall! Good flavor and well prepared. Apple Fritter: Decent. Right amount of apple, well cooked. French Cruller: Crullers shouldn't be brittle! It was hard and dry... Either hugely overcooked or a few days old, can't tell which. Donut Holes: Light and tender, cooked just right and not greasy (like some other places). Pretty happy with these! Their prices were on the steep side as well. For the dozen donuts, a breakfast sandwich and a sausage roll, our total was over $30! Sorry to say but even with as close as they are, its not likely we'll be going back. read more

DONUTS & HOURS- I picked up a mixed box for one of my kid's activities and they wolfed them down, giving all thumbs up. They didn't leave so much as a crumb for me. . .hahaha. The Choice or Custom Dozen run about $15. My husband and I stopped in right before closing (2pm on Saturdays, 1pm the rest of the week). Luckily they had one apple fritter left, which is exactly what he wanted. It was tender and fluffy, with a thin layer of glaze. A few little apple bits dotted the folds. No greasy mouth feel (like after eating one at Voodoo Donuts in Portland). The blueberry holes were a classic cake donut ....but not heavy, with little bits of sweetened blueberries. It also had a very thin, nice glaze. Too much glaze and they taste sickening sweet to me. STORE & STAFF -Being a really cute, clean place I'd return to try a breakfast burrito or the bagels they will carry soon. The worker was very sweet and threw in more holes than I asked for. AREA- I don't like having to drive through the gas station parking lot to get to it, or wait in an awkward line at the light to exit; there isnt really a good place to line up. read more

If you're going to sell day old donuts at least sell them at a discounted price. Walked in on a Sunday morning and did not smell fresh donuts. Bought a half dozen + a cinnamon roll totaled $16.50. Bit into the kruller which wasn't soft and bouncy, it was definitely stale. Thought maybe it was me. My husband had the sugar raised and he agreed before I said a thing that it was also stale and not soft and fresh. Not what one would expect on a SUNDAY from a donut shop. The original owners apparently sold the business and my hubs stopped in the other day, and said they have a bunch of shelves with "wanna be Legendary donuts" now. Okay, maybe because I came 30 minutes before closing that the doughnuts were dry and stale. I bought a dozen of assorted doughnuts, as I was meeting friends nearby and wanted to check this place out, especially since they have such great Yelp reviews. But unfortunately, it was disappointing. I came here half an hour before closing and one of the employees was mopping the floor, which was when I realized that the place was closing soon. But the cashier/other employee was nice and didn't seem bothered by my visit. I told her that I was getting an assorted dozen and she could choose for me a variety of flavors, which she did a good job of doing. With the promotion they were having that day, I also got a a bag of free donut holes, which was nice. Once I met up with my friends they all seemed to enjoy the doughnuts, especially the ones covered with cereal. I'm more of a chocolate fan, so took a chocolate-covered doughnut and thought it was very dry. I ended up not taking more than two bites until I tried one of the mini donut holes, with hopes it would be better, but I thought it was dry, too. The texture was just so off-putting for me that it was hard for me to eat them. I'm glad others enjoyed them and I always try to support a local business, but won't be back here anytime soon for doughnuts. read more

This place is fantastic! I moved here from the east coast and always find myself disappointed with donuts here on the west coast. We went to Crown about an hour before the closed, so it was a little picked over, but we got a few kinds to try. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was fantastic. The cake donuts were the best I've ever had. Moist and tender and chewy and dense. The filled donuts had SO MUCH filling, and the the dough was nice and light. The old fashioned had a great flavor and wasn't too sweet. The coffee was strong and good, and they provide a few flavored syrups to add if you like. The service was also excellent. The woman working was working alone and had so much energy! She made fresh coffee for us when the carafe ran out and was kind and friendly to every customer. The maple bacon bar was supa yum with tons of bacon and a good maple glaze. Their cinnamon roll on the other hand? The worst cinnamon roll we have ever tried. The dough tasted cheap, there was no cinnamon essence, there was no delicious gooey glaze, and for some reason there was an offsetting artificial banana flavor to it. I keep thinking about that sad cinnamon roll and it really put a damper on my morning :( we wanted a perfect roll but we got the opposite of that. I am not giving it any lower than a four because the donut we had was good. This a donut shop, not a shop who sells cinnamon rolls-- so maybe they should do that and not sell these to disappoint customers. read more
