I remembered we stopped here a couple of years ago and it's time to return. I had the chicken parm grinder with fried peppers and it was so melt in your mouth tasty I could eat it again right now. After visiting both Harkness Memorial Park and Seaside Park, we were hungry and started looking a restaurant. The parking lot was almost full as was the restaurant. We were soon directed to a small table and provided menus. We decided on sharing a pastrami grinder. The portion size was good though the amount of iceberg lettuce was almost overwhelming. Unfortunately my half was devoid of pastrami at one end which I did not realize until I was almost finished due the aforementioned quantity of lettuce. Did I mention there was a lot, too much, iceberg lettuce? Looking at the portion size of various meals at other tables, I doubt too many people depart while still hungry, In fact most people leave with a doggy bag that I doubt there doggy will ever see. Crown Pizza is one of my favorite restaurants in the Waterford area. We recently had their new Godfather pizza. It was fantastic, unlike any specialty pizza I've ever had. Another favorite of mine is their antipasto, served with their own creamy garlic dressing. The salad is loaded with meat and cheese and is a meal in itself. A few years ago they changed hands but they didn't change the quality and selection of food. I've eaten there many times and never been disappointed. read more

I went there ( nights ago for takeout & ordered their famous TACO PIZZA and it did NOT DISAPPOINT! IT WAS DELISH! I was shocked at how well it was executed bc it could go south in a lot of different ways but it was PERFECT. (BTW, their pizza sauce is very tasty and they don't overdo it on this pizza so it isn't soggy). The pizza was strategically layered with tomato sauce, ground beef, cheese, thinly shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese, sour cream & jalapeños. The dough is solidly good. It stood up to all the ingredients. It had a slight chewy dense consistency & was freshly baked. I thoroughly enjoyed it & I WOULD ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO ORDER THE TACO PIZZA - IT WAS THAT GOOD! I ordered a small turkey sub the other day at lunch & the grinder roll WAS TO DIE FOR - pillowy soft freshly baked Italian roll. Everything else was good quality & super fresh too. It could've used 3 or more slices of turkey but the SUB WAS STILL DELICIOUS. The reviews here are equally good & bad so it's tough deciding what to try going forward. I think sticking to customer favorites is always safe. I am thinking of trying an entree next. I think you cannot go wrong with any of the pizzas based on my experience with the Taco Pizza! If I could give this establishment a zero rating I would... Ordered from here for first time yesterday, My husband and I got food poisoning, were deathly sick all day and night after eating the food... I reached out to Doordash and got a refund, but felt it was important to reach out to the restaurant and give the owner a chance to be aware of the situation, and let them know how sick we were after eating food from their establishment; possible cross catamination, or spoiled ingredients, etc, wanted to give them a chance to maybe apologize or simply make them aware of a major health issue going on... They didn't respond, read my message though which I find disturbing and speaks volumes about the owners... The grinders and pizza are incredible. I'm always looking forward to the specials they have here. It's usually pretty busy in the small restaurant and the staff is running around helping each other out (great team work)! I've been a customer for almost 7 years. Food was excellent in the beginning, but has gone seriously downhill since changing owners. Last night I ordered the chicken finger platter with bbq and honey mustard sauce on the side. What I received was soggy chicken fingers covered in bbq sauce (not plain like I asked for), obviously no honey mustard, and the fries and onion rings were all soggy. Pricing has been raised as well even though they said nothing would change with new ownership. Coming from NH we are always skeptical of pizza joints that are "the best". We had dinner, group of 4. We had pizza, eggplant grinders , mozz sticks s d sone fish . The fish was good, the tarter sauce needs some work. Mozz sticks and grinder were spot on no complaints. Pizza is a freeze style pan pizza. But it was very tasty and they cooked it just like I asked. AMAZING CLAM STRIPS and the BEST GREEK PIZZA IN NEW LONDON COUNTY! The clam strips are covered in very crispy batter, the clams are fresh, and the tartar sauce has an amazing lemon-dill zing that I love. Their pizza crust has an amazing buttery flavor and their cheese is definitely high quality. Of course, the sauce is also amazing. 5 stars is for their GRINDERS. But their Greek style pizza is good too! This should be the proto type for an authentic no fuss real-deal grinder. During my high school years this grinder satiated my fierce hunger after field hock games, home from college they cured my hang overs, and as an adult (although I live over an hour & a 1/2 away) I make it a point to take a detour off I95S to grab 1 & go. And my brother (who lives in San Diego) makes the pilgrimage here when he is back in CT. Ya, they're that good. Nostalgia? Nah- they are as good as we remember them from our youth.
