A very pleasant Italian eatery experience. I ate in at Jack's for lunch and it is clear this should be thought of as more than just a pizzeria. The seats are all really comfortable looking, the service was fast, attentive, and friendly. The menu isn't vast, so there's faith that the food is being cooked for real. Tried today were: A slice of regular cheese and Sicilian cheese pizzas, a meatball grinder, and seafood ortolana (from the specials menu). Sicilian cheese - thick crust that wasn't too heavy. Very airy and crunchy. The sauce is a little sweet, but the overall slice was really good, especially with some parmesan added on top. Regular cheese - thin crust, crunchy but still pliable. This one needed the parmesan because I felt it was pretty bland on its own. Meatball grinder - soft meatballs with mild seasoning, that sweet sauce, melted cheese, on a bread that was toasted but not overly flavorful. A solid grinder that is acceptable in every way but not blowing you away. Seafood ortolana - while this is a special, I can see that they know how to mostly cook seafood (the scallops cooked way too long and were tough as a result, but the shrimp and calamari were just right) and pasta. I like that the vegetables were cooked to where they still had a bite to them, no one wants soggy squash. There was a flavor tone that I was never able to pin down, I thought maybe propane? jarred minced garlic?, something with a sweet back end but sharp front end. In any case, it hovered on the edges of every bite, becoming inescapable and not overly pleasant. In general, this is a good restaurant, I'll be trying other food here in the future and can say that I'm confident you could have a nice meal here too. In terms of handicapped access, their main parking lot has one spot, but then steps to get in. A single parking spot with ramp access is available on the back side of the restaurant, looks to be where employee parking is as well.

We got a medium pizza, a calzone, gluten free pizza. We had ordered garlic knots. Which we had to go in to order as she forgot them. We sat outside on the patio as it was a nice day. I also got the coco special which is coconut tequila and pineapple juice. The Margarita pizza was dry, and the gluten free Fresca pizza was good while hot and fresh, then when cooled it was not as good. The calzone was great. Lots of chews and ham, plenty of sauce, got soggy as it sat so eat everything while hot. I enjoyed my calzone and would order again.

Our server was very cordial and polite. Drinks and food were out promptly without an issue. Pizza is good, cheese could have been melted more on the garlic bread. Prices are a little high but I guess that's "authentic Italian" Only negative thing is the "clean" plates were greasy and smelled like bleach/sanitizer. Sadly it transferred to my pizza and the taste was on my food

Everything was perfect! The food was delicious! (Especially the garlic knots) and to top it off they are dog friendly!

Place looks awesome driving by, finally went in, glad I did. I'll be going here every time I'm here in my hometown. Dave Portnoy should check this place out because the pizza is delicious. The chef prepared it for me in under two minutes. It looks just as nice on the inside as it does on the outside, very good ambience.

We were in the area and after seeing reviews we decided to try Jack's Brick Oven Pizza. This was a great call. The food was spectacular. This might have been the best Calzone I've ever had in my life. The service was very helpful. I would recommend people try the food here.

Four stars, only because of my waitress. Note this was my experience as a first timer here. Came here solo today to try the restaurant out. Unfortunately, My initial feel of the restaurant was negative due to the lady who was at the front. when I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by a employee who or speaking very quietly. And I said I'm sorry I can't hear you, what did you say? She said you can sit at the bar. And then proceeded to walk him three guest the walking right behind me I want to see them first. As a first timer to the restaurant, each patron should be treated with respect. It's not a very bad tone to start out. She came back to the front after seating the party of three to tell me i could sit at the bar or at a booth and then took me to the area where there was no other patrons. It was dark there. She didn't offer to get me anything to drink and left me at the table. The waitress that took care of me, Tracy, was very nice and knowledgeable of a man in the drinks that were available. I'm glad I had her as a waitress vice the lady that greeted me at the door. While I was looking over the menu that same person walked by and said Shrimp Bisque soup and then said louder, did you hear me? I said today's special is shrimp bisque soup. I ignored her like she did me at the front door. Then the same woman she sat another couple behind me and asked them what they wanted to drink . There is so much on the menu, it is very hard to decide and it took me forever, it seemed, to choose something. I ended up choosing penne ala vodka with shrimp and mushrooms. Meals come with a salad or soup. She said the Bisque was really good and she recommended it. So i went with the bisque. The food was really delicious. Meat was seasoned and juicy. Garlic Knots were huge and the bisque was so flavorful. Recommend these items.! I ended up with three to go containers.... Thank you to my waitress for making my first time here a good experience. Definitely helped to make up for the rocky start. Ambiance is casual but romantic with the Italian music playing in the back ground. Old and young both patron this restaurant. Will i come again, maybe but not completely sold on it. Hopefully, the manager will provide some additional training to those on staff.

They have their takeout service down to a science. This is one of those pizza places where it would be best to go with a large group of people order several different styles of pizzas and kind of do a tasting? However, I went solo and thoroughly enjoyed my Mamma Mia. Great pizza, cool bar and very old school pizza joint vibes inside.

I'm always looking for great pizza in unexpected places in CT. Earlier this year, I noticed Mama…read moreMia on a monthly Yelp List identifying the Most Popular Restaurants in Connecticut. That's how I first learned about @brickandbasil in Yantic. I visited several months ago, but forgot to post my review. There was a bit of a hiccup when I visited. I drove about 40 minutes to get there, and when I arrived, I learned that they were closed for their first ever private Baby Shower party. I was crushed. But this story has a rated PG Happy Ending. I called the restaurant and spoke to Amy. I explained that I had driven a ways and asked if they could make me a pizza to go. They didn't take long to tell me that they would make me the first pizza of the day before the shower got into Full Swing. I was grateful for their hospitality, and terrific wood-fired pizza. I was inside briefly. They have plenty of seating and a bar that with decor suggesting a love of music. I ordered the Mama Mia and ate a couple slices outside. It had sliced meatball, roasted red pepper, mozzarella and ricotta on a good chewy Wood Fired Crust. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. The red sauce had bright flavor. The ricotta was creamy and fluffy. Brick and Basil is well respected in pizza circles, and I can see why. It started as a food truck. But a food truck that starts with the word Brick, was bound to have a Brick and Mortar. And we're lucky they do. 5 Stars
