We were in the area and stopped in for a late lunch. This is a classic country cafe - exactly what they say they are. Good homestyle food. I ordered chicken fried steak (comes with gravy)I selected fried green tomatoes and mashed potatoes for my sides. The husband ordered fried catfish - his two side selections were fried okra and mashed potatoes with gravy. Both meals came with a small side salad, a basic lettuce-tomato-cheese affair. Tasty and just the right amount. The CFS featured crispy peppery batter. The steak was fork-tender. The catfish fillets were incredibly meaty, with a crisp cornmeal crust. The mashed potatoes were lumpy (like I like them) and came with a peppery country (white) gravy. The okra was wonderful, too. The fried green tomatoes came in small bite-sized pieces rather than the slices I'm accustomed to. They were also sweet - almost like a fried candied tomato. This was a huge surprise because the flavor profile was dramatically different than what I normally experience with fried green tomatoes. You will either like these or you won't - I doubt there's middle ground for people. We both ordered a draft beer which was a ridiculously good value. A 16oz (short) was just $2.50 while a 24oz (tall) was $3.25. There were 4 beers on tap but one was Ziegen Bock, so this deal was a great deal indeed. We also got a piece of pie - just $2.25 a slice meant we were able to try both the coconut meringue and the chocolate meringue. The meringue was tasty but not super fluffy. The chocolate was incredibly dense (not a pudding pie!) - gold stars! The coconut was equally tasty. All in all this was a very worthwhile trip and since it's just 30 min north of Plano, we'll be back. And when we come back we're definitely getting the okra and catfish again, along with more tasty beer. read more

I'm not from this area, I don't think I've ever been to Anna until this trip, but stopped by for a bite to eat with a large group. Our group consisted of 7 dads and daughters. The staff welcomed us and sat us without fuss. We were given smiles and great attitudes from the time we stepped in. We had already spent over an hour in the car, the kids were rowdy and loud... this was met with a great attitude. Every dad ordered something different and everything was delivered fast hot and yummy. I had the crows feel (tater skins) as an appetizer and a steak for my meal. All made to greatness... This place is an example of how you run a local hotspot. You staff it with quick witty fun people and hire cooks that know how to make a good meal. This is the first restaurant we tried when we moved to Anna. It immediately became a family favorite. The service was friendly and very efficient and the food was great. It is like the food you imagine a southern grandmother would make you. My husband had the fried pork chops which were huge and perfectly cooked, I had the grilled which had a great flavor. What sold us on this as a family favorite was the sides. My 10 y.o. son ate all his sides (Mac n cheese and green beans) and then finished my squash casserole. They were just that good. The salads were simple and tasty. We especially appreciated the service. As we arrived we received a call that we needed to return home within the hour for a delivery. We asked the host if we would be able to get in and out within 45 minutes and they did it. Our second visit gave us more time to savor our dinners, but left us just as full. One day we will have room for those delicious looking pies. My entire family looks forward to many happy meals in the future. read more

Don't enforce pick up parking. If not enforcing would not been nice to had for handicap parking instead of having to cross the street . Went in for happy hour with my husband on a Tuesday night. Sat in the bar enjoyed happy hour beer $1.75 for short and $2.50 for tall-if I remember correctly. Also enjoyed the combination crows eggs. Stuffed jalapeños with brisket/chicken/cheese with a side cup of ranch. Super tasty and not too spicy. The bartender was attentive, even made us a shot we had asked for. Not extraordinary but good enough to come back. On Sundays they have a brunch buffet from 10am to 3pm. Dishes like fried chicken, fried fish, chicken fried steak, ribs and stew are among the main and for sides you could try fried okra, mash and a sweet mash, veggies, fruit and salad. They serve dinner rolls and desert as part of the buffet. The price is under 12 bucks and honestly for that money the food is pretty damn good and abundant. We had been here a few times. The fried steak was a bit salty the two past times, and the burgers were over-cooked on a Togo order in early 2020, but everything else was pretty appropriate for the price. The servers are sweet and the owner stopped at the table to talk to us a few times, so I thought that was nice. Came here with a friend for dinner. Quick to seat us and we both ordered the chicken fried steak, which is the Texas test for any "Country" cafe. I also added green beans and fried okra along with the house salad. The okra was good, but a little much on the breading. Green beans looked microwaved...they lost a star on these two. The CFS? LARGE and tasty! Gravy was very good as well. The sweet tea I added was just right. Service was very good. Parking can get tight during busy hours for downtown Anna, but you can find something within a reasonable walk. I look forward to my next visit where they will no doubt get that 5th star. read more

Food is ok if you're tired of the truck stops and fast food places in town. The owner's? They need to make some serious changes. I understand that you have a bar area but it doesn't need to be overrun with the same loud people that you treat like they have a stake in your business. The sign over the bar says "No Smoking" but you allowed at least 1 person to sit there this past Friday evening (5/4/18) and puff on their ecig! No smoking should mean none of any kind but you allowed it and I know you saw it because you the owner, stopped to talk with the couple. It's been a long time since we've gone to Crow's because the last time we were there a drunk guy at the bar was in charge of the television. Starting off... foods not bad. Setting here now, second time here and just like the first the service is ABSOLUTELY terrible. I swear on my two kids they both times they've acted annoyed that we even showed up. No smile, rush me in, rush me out. Not the slightest hint of courtesy. I imagine they're only still open because of the limited options here but advice to the owner... clean house because I promise you I'm not the only person who feels this way about your establishment. Look to be a good comfort food locals stop. And service was quick and friendly. Drinks came quick and stayed full. Of the three orders one was mostly right. Kinda don't understand some of the confusion since mistakes didn't add up. Mine was the mostly right order. It was average burger and onion rings were frozen type. So little underwhelmed. Great place for country comfort food. The BBQ nachos were very good. I ordered the fried catfish and my husband got the country fried steak. They were both great. The fried green tomatoes were picked but i liked them. It was just a surprise and my husband did not care for them. My only complaint was about the sides i ordered because they were very bland . I wanted to like this place, I really did. I tried it on multiple occasions and it was the same every time. This last one was by far the worst. We came in shortly before close (we left a big tip because we felt bad). We ordered a French dip sandwich with macaroni, chicken strips with a house salad and macaroni, and 2 kids corn dogs. The order took quite awhile to make which was ok because they told us the corn dogs took quite a bit of time to cook. After getting home we were very disappointed with our food. My chicken strips were burnt, cold and very thin for $9.95, the macaroni that came with all of our orders tasted bad. My son wouldn't even eat it and that's his FAVORITE food. My husbands French dip was soggy, and cold as well. I called back (which it was past close and I didn't expect an answer..I was just going to leave a voicemail). But they answered and hung up TWICE. Which I get it was past close, but they could've just not answered at all. I called back the following day, after getting the run around from the employees and being placed on hold for awhile, I was able to talk to who I think was the owner. I explained the situation and told him we saved the food to bring back for a refund. He said that their credit card system wouldn't let them do refunds...Which I know isn't true because my husband and I both work in a restaurant and every single system has the ability to refund money. I was told he would call me back the following day, which never happened. I called back around 3 PM and he told me he would call back at 5, when the server arrived. At 6:45 I called back and talked to a female manager who told me that it was against company policy to issue a refund. (I thought they couldn't?). After a very unpleasant conversation I told her I would just go a different route. I was able to dispute it through my bank and they took the refund from them and gave it to me, and I filed a report on BBB. Wouldn't recommend going here at all. Horrible customer service. read more

Several of us went to crows on a Saturday got there about 1 o'clock lots of folks having lunch we had about 12 people at two different tables and it took them a while to get everything but our waitress did great she kept our glasses filled. I always "judge" an American style food place by their chicken fried steak (CFS). My reasoning is that if its good the odds are that everything on the menu is too. I'm going to put Crow's CFS right up there in the top three places I've eaten. Had their CFS ala cream gravy with the squash casserole (excellent), the pinto beans (excellent) and a side salad. The service was prompt, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is wonderful: Clean and old fashioned nostalgia. We sat in the booth that had an authentic front page Dallas newspaper framed headlining Elvis' death. We look forward to eating at Crow's as often as we can. read more
