The burger was a typical smash burger, but didn't come with fries, so we ordered some. The fries were crispy and salted. The wings were probably the best part of the meal. The sauce was slightly different from a usual wing sauce, but IMO, was better. It was so good we had to order some more wings. Overall, what we ordered was fine and in case of the wings, quite tasty. Honestly, the Bucking Berry Goat Cheese Burger was the main reason I came to your restaurant in the first place. It was unique, flavorful, and one of my favorite burgers anywhere. Getting rid of it -- along with the onion rings - completely changed the experience for me. I'm also really frustrated with the new "build your own" burger approach. After getting off work, the last thing I want to do is stand there making a bunch of decisions about toppings and creating my own burger. One of the things I loved about your restaurant was having great burger options already crafted and ready to order. Great burgers and fast friendly service. Parking can be a nightmare depending on the time of day as it's downtown McKinney. The chairs are also the very small metal stools you find in food courts and not very comfortable and the tables run small. The food is great, and not very expensive as it's the same source as The Local Yokel which is my favorite downtown eatery. I really like their beer selection and $3 drafts is very inexpensive compared to the $5 drafts some places do during happy hour. That's their normal price! read more

What I'm most impressed about and the reason for 4 star is the quality of service. He made sure we got taken care of, we never ran out of drinks and he made sure to check on us if we need anything. We like the toppings on the fries , although the fries itself it's just average a bit too oily. The salad was okay , my son and our friend both like burger ( one is spicy and the other one is the lonestar burger). The place was of average noise . Waygu burgers for all!! Husband and I joined a work party and we were very pleased with the experience. This is a strip mall location, so plenty of parking available and easy access. It's a quaint location, but they were able to accommodate our large group of 20 plus. All the food came out quickly and effortlessly at the same time. We happened to be there for happy hour, so enjoyed several apps, including the Waygu nachos and pretzel bites with beer cheese. All delish!! You can get your burger with lettuce or a bun, which is great for gluten free peeps!! We loved the LOYO burger, and I tried the bucking' berry burger as well, which was fabulous!! Def get the onion rings too!! Meat was cooked perfectly and oh so soft!! They do have cocktails and their Ironroot martini is absolutely something y'all need to try. I have had burgers all over DFW and LOYO is in my top 2. Their Vaquero is my all time favorite burger. Their tots are the best I have ever had anywhere. Loyo has a clean, cool dining area that can accommodate groups of different sizes (we had a group of 7 adults and 1 baby and could all sit at the same table). The food is delicious and very shareable! Everything tasted great, but I especially loved the Wagyu nachos packed with flavor and fresh ingredients. I assisted this business in recommending how to decrease their fruit fly problem. It worked. They definitely have a service problem do to a couple of inattentive servers. I'm older than most of the employees and been interfacing customers over 30 years. I was asked not to return because I made a few feel uncomfortable. For those who slandered my name you need to be fired. I asked the manager if he could give me some insight on what occurred and when this occurred, and he couldn't give me any examples. We all know people lie, especially immature young employees who definitely need some training. I guess this place doesn't care about loyal customers. You need to start hiring the right employees who don't wear their feelings on their arm sleeves and to pay attention to the customers needs. These type of employees need to get over your delicate feelings and grow up. Some people don't belong in the service industry and have a personality of a gold fish and no customer service skills, especially a few that tend the bar and tables. Sorry to hear you are closing, but at least you know what type of employees you need to hire and what doesn't work. I did enjoy the food and the $3 beer and cider. I wouldn't recommend dining here if you have children. My twin toddlers were getting antsy, so a member of our group took them out to the car to avoid disturbing others. Instead of recognizing that we were simply trying to keep things calm and courteous, multiple staff members decided to assume we were attempting to dine-and-dash. We asked for to-go boxes, received them, and then--almost immediately--were accused of trying to skip out on the bill. At no point did anyone in our party indicate we weren't planning to pay. It's disappointing when a restaurant is quicker to make baseless accusations than to offer basic hospitality. Needless to say, we won't be returning--there are plenty of restaurants that understand how to treat paying customers with professionalism, respect, and maybe even a little common sense. read more

I really wanted to like this place! My family and I stopped in tonight (Thursday 5/8/24), we were instructed by the bartender to take a seat anywhere we liked. We sat near the restroom in a booth. My family and I sat for 15 minutes without a server or any other waitstaff checking on us, asking us if we were ready to order. I certainly hope this was just out of the ordinary... we instead walked next door to union bear and were sat, with drinks ordered within 5 minutes. We arrived at 7pm and there were only two tables seated outside, and the inside wasn't very busy. Despite that, we waited 30 minutes without even being greeted, while the tables next to us had two different servers helping them. Several staff members walked past us and never acknowledged we were waiting, even with our toddler. At one point, I even saw a waiter sit down at a booth. I understand he may have been tired or near the end of his shift, but he could've let someone know that there was a table waiting outside. I eventually went inside to ask if they were seating outdoors, and they said yes. The host went to speak with the waiter who had been sitting down, and after a brief exchange, she came out and offered to take care of us. At that point, we politely declined and left. I did not like the Kiosk order situation and completed my entire visit with no personal contact which Im not a fan of. When I entered ,I stood waiting for the bartender(right in front of me) to direct me or someone to come out of the back and greet me but, Nothing. I struggled but finally put my order into the kiosk, and found my drink and seat. About 10 minutes later someone sat my order down in front of me without comment. The burger was hot and fresh and the fries were excellent. The space is pleasant and Im sure they will be a success here. I really liked everything. Food is fresh and bun on the burger was fresh and toasted just right. I got the Yaki burger because I wanted something different. It was good but due to all the adds, I couldn't really taste the meat- but it was good. Pork rinds are great. Fried pickles are hand made but the batter will fall apart. Service was great. Ok, I just woke up from a food coma. Tried LOYO for lunch today after church. Beautiful location, clean, and friendly staff. Ordered a burger, shake, and all the usual sides. Onion rings, tots, regular and sweet potato fries. I listed them in order or tastiness. Onion rings were great. Tots really good. Both fries were average but well seasoned. My whole group raved about their burgers. Juicy and delicious. I tried one of the chicken tenders from one of the kids meal, great. Real chicken seasoned and breaded well without disgusting over breading which is a thing at a lot of places. Not here. The shakes were a good size and tasty. Classic chocolate vanilla strawberry options. I was trying everything everyone had and loved it. Ate too much, but that's my true compliment to them. I'm not an over eater but couldn't help myself. I really want to love this place, but for now, I've gotta stick with 4 stars. I love the burger at Local Yocal and recommend it to others often, and Loyo does several things well, but in order to get that 5th star, I think there's work to be done still. The location is cute, it reminded me a lot of the now closed Grind burger. Large wooden bar, modern farmhouse decor vibes, and the place was clean and cute. We ordered at the bar but there's also an option to order via kiosk. I can see the kiosks being a great way for someone to order who really wants to customize the heck out of their burger and make sure it goes to the kitchen just right, but for those who don't want to do that, they will take your order at the bar. Loyo proudly stands behind their wagyu beef pattys and unfortunately this is where I felt like the food was lacking a little. It was juicy, it was cooked just fine...but it lacked flavor. Im not sure if it was a lack of seasoning or a leaner beef, but it was just missing something. The bun was good. The toppings were fine. The house burger sauce was just okay, so I'd definitely choose a different burger on a return visit. The fries were good and seasoned well but the star at our table were the tater tots. Those are excellent and probably the best choice for a takeout order, they'd hold up well over fries I'm sure. No coke or Pepsi here, they serve the real sugar soda line, as well as a full bar for those inclined. We do plan on returning and giving it another try, and sampling some other things off of the menu. We like the vibe, we like everything else we have seen out of the Local Yocal group. Hubby and I visited on a very busy Thursday afternoon and were super impressed with the Wagyu Yaki burger and very cold beer. The owner, Matt, was super attentive. If you want to say hi to him, he's the one with the cowboy hat. The wait for food was a bit long but it's their first week so no problem. You can order from a kiosk or from someone behind the bar. Walking in, we weren't greeted, neither were there signs to explain how to order etc. We waited a while just standing there not knowing if someone would sit us down or what the deal was.. until the bartender said "are you ready to order?" Ready to order, we haven't even looked at your menu yet. She then said , you order here first, then go sit. Gotcha! The burgers came out fast and were absolutely delicious.
