    Pedro and Mr. Pete
    Victoria B.

What an amazing find!!!!! Today, I had a random impulse to dye my virgin dark brown hair to platinum silver. After calling a bunch of different salon schools that quoted me me a bunch of high prices and appointments a week out, I decided to come in to CRÚ because the woman named Michelle (?) on the phone said to come in for a consultation. I walked into the room and was surprised to see a huge room full of young boys and bumping R&B music. A man named Mr. Pete greeted me at the door and gave me an extremely generous quote for a full head of bleach and color. One of the senior students, Pedro, was assigned to me for the entire job. Mr. Pete was kind, informative, and caring, walking Pedro through every stop of the process. Mr. Pete helped Pedro apply bleach to my hair before going on lunch break, handing Pedro off to another instructor named Ms. Angie. Ms. Angie was a completely different vibe from Mr. Pete -- She seemed busy, uptight, and not quite as friendly. Ms. Angie helped Pedro mix solutions and pointed out where he should apply more toner on my head, then stepped away to tend to other students. After having my hair washed by Pedro, I returned to the barber chair, and Mr. Pete appeared disappointed by the results. He and I had agreed upon an ashy silver color, which turned out looking darker and more orange than expected due to the bleach and toner not being left in my hair long enough. Mr. Pete was determined to make sure the job made him and the client happy, so he and Pedro went back to do things the right way. Together, they re-applied toner to the dark spots in my hair and washed and blow-dried it again, which took another hour. In total, the job took about 5 hours. It was a really fun and interesting experience! I super appreciated Mr. Pete for explaining the process every step of the way and making the experience so comfortable and enjoyable. Pedro was super chill and easy to talk to as well, even staying overtime to get the job done. 10 stars for the Pedro/Pedro duo!!! :)))

With customer service fantastic by student's supervisor, Kevin, & student, Ed. I had a grand & fun chit-chat with student Jason Morales / Raminez. I had a burned spot that was noticed, but student Jason did a great job - solo - without supervision. I hope he had fun - helping me get a clean cut I appreciated ur team CR'U Institute

Closer to a bob than a wolf cut but not mad at all!

Got my haircut by Edgar (I think his name was) and he was great! Went in asking for a shag/wolf cut after clarifying they do women's cuts and right from the get go they were transparent about it maybe not coming out 100% like the picture I showed them, which I was fine with considering it's being done at a school. Ms. Cat was really helpful when showing him how to go about doing the cut. It did take a while but given that once again, it's a school and they're still learning I left happy. Came out with more of a bob cut but honestly? I'm not mad, looks better than some haircuts I've had in the past from professionals.

On a whim, I decided to get the kids haircut at Cru. I messaged for an appointment and was told the store hours & to just come in. I brought the boys in on a weekday at 5pm. Ricky introduced himself as the night manager and asked a few Qs on how I wanted their hair cut, etc. (I didn't opt for the Yelp check-in for a free cut since they are charging $5.) They both were assigned stylists and went to their respective chairs. I'm only going to review one of the stylists because I understand this is a learning academy and don't want anyone to hold anything against the one who is still finding his way. Chris was assigned to my younger son who sat nervously in his booster. Chris routinely checked in if I liked the length and how I wanted the shape. It took about an hour but the fade was the smoothest I've ever seen. So many details and precision to his cut! My lil man didn't want to shower and ruin his haircut; lol. My older son...as noted in other reviews, haircuts in general take longer than normal salons but I got worried when his stylist came over and spoke to Chris. Chris went over to the other chair and gave a few tips of the trade from what I could gather across the room. After an hour I got smoothies with my younger one and came back to more stylists around my older son's chair. Uh oh. 30 mins later he came out with an ok haircut and a slightly choppy fade. But I knew this walking in that it was a possibility. I still respect the stylist. I know you have to start from somewhere & hone your skills. My older son was excited to talk CoD with his stylist & was pumped when we left...and that meant more to me than his cut. Thank you for not treating him like a kid. Xoxo I'm not sure the turnaround & how long stylists stay at Cru but I highly recommend Chris. His skill set & abilities deserve to be noted. Will definitely snag an appointment with him in the future! Covid note: Everyone wore masks inside unless they were drinking. I asked both stylists before removing my kids' masks so they could properly get around the ears. Parent note: this isn't one of those places that have plastic airplanes for your kid to sit in. There's no play area or catering to fidgety kids. It's a very positive environment but not censored for kids. Karens need not come in if you can't handle a little pg-13 sailor banter. :) My sons loved the vibe & so do I.

Been coming to Cru for years and they always make my son look so so good! Crystal and Ernest worked this mop into magic!

Get a cut with mario. He is super professional and cut my hair well. He didn't make me feel bad at all that it was a free cut. He was appreciative of me for coming in and very friendly. I've paid 45 for cuts. He did a great job. I hesistated a little because it's a barber school, but I'm glad I tried. Definitely coming back here.

The owner SETH is rude , ill mannered and lacks emotional control!! He is also a liar!! I was a repeat PAYING customer and came in one day to use the free cut coupon and my child got a butchered haircut because the student (manny) was upset he wasn't getting paid. Both of my boys hair lines were messed up and tried to cover it up with enhancement spray!!! In addition several of the students were using inappropriate language and were making fun of my children along with complaining because they didn't want to do the work. I called to speak to the supervisor on duty (Brad) and was told he wasn't available, so I spoke to the person in charge (SETH) frustrated in hopes of a resolve and not only did he get hostile with me but he interrupted me and called me all kinds of liars! Upon going back to the institute after the horrible phone call, He immediately walked up on me without any conversation yelling/raising his voice, called me a liar, put his fingers in my face, called the police and told my three children that their mother was going to jail today. Told me I was trespassing and that I wasn't welcomed and that he was going to send me to jail! I waited for the officers to arrive....Upon the police's arrival they were in awe and disbelief of the horrible haircut my son received. After the lies that the owner decided to tell, the police reviewed the camera footage and were able to verify my story. In the end, the owner (SETH) refused to fix my son's hair. On top of that, the supervisor (BRAD) that was there during this botched hair cut totally ignored me as if he didn't know who I or my children were . My son got made fun of at school and his picture day was ruined!! CRU INSTITUTE needs new ownership and management and I will be contacting the BBB and the licensing department. My family and I were treated like trash without any questions, conversation, concern, or resolve.

I got an appointment to cut and shape my long hair. This is a school so things take longer but it was well worth it just for the kind and warm experience. I've visited cosmetology schools before but this one was very friendly and fun while still maintaining good learning and discipline. In particular, the teacher in charge is so amazing! She keeps everyone busy with a good balance of love and rigor. I just love how they did my hair but more importantly, I love the emotional kindness and friendliness.

If you are looking to attend school for barbering please take the time to read this. My name Is Marco Uriostegui and it wasn't too long ago that I graduated from this school and I'd like to take the time to write a review about my experience here over the past year. When I first showed up to this school they promised me quality education BUT they failed to give me just that. It took me some time to to figure out what I was passionate about when I got out of high school so when I finally decided that I wanted to become a barber I was excited to attend Cru. Shortly after I had signed up I stated noticing that the school was a complete JOKE. FIRST OFF the school is overly priced, if you take the time do your research there are schools that are wayyyyy cheaper. I wish I would have done much more research because I'm I'm stuck paying an out standing amount of $$,$$$. Second of all the teachers were a joke I learned nothing when it came to fading, tapering, cutting long hair, texturizing, and styling. YouTube does a better job at teaching you those things. I recommend you watch all the fantastic educators the internet has to offer, thank god for them or I'd be lost right now. Third, the kits they provide are A JOKE. They make you pay over a grand on the kits alone when if you do your research (once again) you will find that the same "starter" kit they put together costs maybe about a couple hundred. When it comes down to it I write this review in hopes that one of you will read it before you sing your life away to these people because I did and I got crap out of it. There are better places out there people don't be fooled by the mirage they put up. I'm attaching a picture of my certificate to show you that I was a student and I did spend a whole year doing BS. Save your money my friends it does not grow on trees your education is very important I don't want people to go through the same as my friends and I did.

Bầu không khí tiêu cực do một số nhân viên tạo ra đã làm lu mờ những gì lẽ ra phải là một trải nghiệm học tập tích cực. My experience with Top Line Beauty College was extremely disappointing, largely because of one staff member, Kim. She often acts as though she runs the entire school and creates an uncomfortable environment for students. Over the years, I have heard similar concerns from numerous coworkers, classmates, and colleagues who felt they were treated unfairly or disrespectfully. Students come to beauty school to learn, grow, and build confidence in a supportive environment. Instead, many feel intimidated and afraid to speak up. A learning environment should encourage students, not make them feel fearful or anxious. Based on my experience and the experiences shared by others, I would not recommend this school. The negative atmosphere created by certain staff members overshadows what should be a positive educational experience.

When it comes to communication between teachers and students, it hasn't been very consistent. One instructor will say one thing, while another says something different, which makes it confusing. The grading is also inconsistent, as each instructor seems to grade differently. At the beginning of the semester, we weren't given a clear rubric for how we would be graded. Now that we are close to graduating, points are being taken off for very small details that were never emphasized before. For example, labeling the cups for the products we use--this is now required in abbreviation form, but we were never taught how to do that earlier in the program. Usually, the dispensary person would take care of that. I hope the program can become more organized, with clear expectations for both day and night classes. Right now, it feels like the night class does not receive as much attention or support. Overall, I hope things improve. However, if I had the chance to choose again, I would consider a different school because I don't feel like I learned everything I needed to know.

I was the only person getting my nails done and there was a gentleman getting a five dollar haircut. No other customers. That should've told me something.
