So glad this place has popped up! I was walking home and wandered in seeing that this place was new and specialized in chicken wings. I had yet to find a place that really hits the spots in terms of wings for me...but after eating here I think I've found it. Food: The wings are perfection; just the right balance of crunch, good quality chicken and flavor. I also tried their dumplings which were decent; the dipping sauce they come with really add a punch. Atmosphere: Casual but modern/nice. Good place for a post-study meal if you're a student or a casual jeans/sweaters date. Service: Awesome; they were very friendly and when they made a mistake delaying my order, the manager came up to me, apologized and made the meal on the house. I was really excited for this new wave of Korean food for philly and especially for Korean fried chicken. The food: - half chicken: approx $13 dollars with a variety of white and dark meat. The chicken was perfectly cooked, with tender meat and a good crunch. You can request multiple sauces to try at once. I ordered the sweet chili spicy and the soy honey super spicy sauces. My biggest gripe was that these had very little spice. I had multiple friends who are really bad with heat and they were both able to eat these with no problem. I do think they are receptive to feedback, and are working on figuring out the right spice level. - dumplings: the dumplings come in a fried skin and with a tangy vinegarette dressing. Just got take out from here this morning. An excellent addition to center city food scene! Possibly the most COVID friendly experience ever. You order online. They give you a time to pick up your food. You call when you get there and they put your food in a small shelf in the door. I never even saw anyone. Who knows...maybe the place is run by robots. To be fair the person on the phone was very nice. I got 5 piece wings with Korean BBQ sauce. Crispy on the inside yet nicely covered in sauce. A good helping for the price for sure. Just excellent. Also had a bulgogi taco which was random but actually delicious! I think they feel bad about the size of the tortilla so really pile it on with cream, guac, lettuce and bulgogi. The meat was deliciously seasons and very tender. The while thing came together great. A bit messy. They should probably just make it an order of two. So glad I finally got to eat here!!! I loved it. The interior is clean and cute. There's a nice amount of seating. It was beautiful outside so we didn't stay inside; we went to the park across the way. The menu is great. I wanted to try everything. I need to try all the sauces. I got kimchi fries. They were delicious and crunchy and cheesey. I ordered a popcorn chicken bowl with sweet chili and that was excellent. The bowl comes with a dumpling noodles and rice! The side of popcorn chicken with Korean BBQ sauce was also amazing. My friend said the bubble tea was just ok. But I didn't order any. I can't say enough good about this place. I've lived around the area for a while, but it this is my first time trying Crunchikn. I should have been coming here a while ago! The food and service are awesome. My friend and I decided to take a peek inside and we were not disappointed. The cashier was nice and friendly and even gave us her recommendations for our popcorn chicken. We went with her choice, and got the Honey Soy Super Spicy. When it came, the chicken was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside without being oily. Also, the sauce was just right, it had a bit of a kick, but not too much were you couldn't enjoy the meal; plus, the chicken wasn't smothered in sauce, which really allows the chicken to shine. They pride themselves in making everything from scratch and running a tight and clean ship. You can really see all of the effort that the owners put into their recipes and business and it shows. It wasn't baaaad (more like 2.5 than a 2), but it's not a place that I would come back to, which is such a shame because everyone is so nice there. I love Korean fried chicken but I wasn't a big fan of the way that the wings were cooked. It's hard to put my finger on it exactly, but the skin was a little more "hard" than "crunchy" for me. For sauces, I liked the honey soy better than the sweet chili - the sweet chili was too "blunt" and didn't have any depth of flavor. I actually was not a fan of the crunch ball at all and didn't finish mine. It was covered in this thin cheese sauce that did not pair with the kimchi. The kimchi cheese fries were nothing exceptional, and kinda tasted like fries you would get at the sports stadiums (aka nothing exceptional and definitely not real cheese). I tried this place out because it had great reviews and closed to campus. The service is great! They were super friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. I had the beef crunch ball. Very crispy shell and filled with seasoned beef, onions, rice, and corn. It also comes with a great sauce that pairs well with it. Combining those two gives an explosion of flavor and textures. Definitely a must have. The cashier recommended me to try their wings so I went with the sweet chili super spicy. The wings are crispy and they remain that way for a good bit of time. I wasn't able to eat all of it and came back later and they were still crispy. The sauce had the right amount of heat for me and the sweet notes that comes through helps balance out the spiciness. Last I had the large beef rice bowl. Tons of food and definitely worth it. It contained well seasoned beef on top of some rice, lettuce, a section of noodles, and a small section of diced veggies. It brings great flavor and a healthy blend of food. The dumpling is a nice touch. For the price and flavors. This is a great place to try out and become a regular. I went for the soft opening, it is a small restaurant, the service is nice. It's more of a order by the cashier and sit type. The food is affordable. The spicy tuna tacos are amazing! I love the amount of vegetables in it although it is very messy to eat. The wings, i am not a huge fan. It's not bad, but the part that I got have a lots of bones. Unlike how others fried chicken place, those other place use mainly the drumsticks and wings, which I prefer more. I think that is more of a personal preference. The best thing about this place in my opinion is all the different sauce options/ types of chicken so you can mix your order up each time. Both the fried chicken wings and the fried popcorn chicken are delicious, I can't decide which is better. The wings are great because they are just as crispy as the popcorn chicken. My wife and I were in the area and wanted a quick and fast meal so we both tried the Popcorn Chicken Rice Bowl. I frequent this place often in ocean city so when I found out they were opening one two blocks from my work I was ecstatic! First, customer service. I've only met a few of the other workers but each one has been a positive experience! They keep you updated on what's going on with your order too which is great. Okay now the food. I have always been obsessed with their honey soy wings. They are incredibly crispy and juicy at the same time. I've never ordered these and have had a disappointing experience. They are consistent every time. Since they've opened this location I've tried the kimchi cheese fries, crunch balls, popcorn chicken, rice bowls, and the bulgolgi beef melt. (I was very excited) I still have NO disappointment with the quality of the food. I have loved every single thing I've tried. The bulgolgi beef melt is probably one of my favorites. The roll they use is nice and fluffy but dense enough to hold the filling of the beef cheese and vegetables. You get the savory satisfaction of the beef and the cheese but also a touch of sweetness from the pickled vegetables. The kimchi cheese fries are awesome. Kimchi is spicy but in a flavorful way. The fries are always cooked perfect and are never soggy. Crunch balls are awesome. I got the beef ones. Again a little spicy but flavor is all there! I've been to this place probably five times since it had opened and every single time the food is consistently fantastic. I've told every single person I work with to order from here. Good but a bit pricey! I paid $30 for 20 smallish wings recently. The honey soy was good, very similar to Cafe SoHo's soy garlic sauce but less intense in flavor and the batter is less crispy. The super spicy honey soy has a kick but is nowhere as spicy as Cafe Soho's spicy wings (if you need a comparison). Oddly though, after eating only 4 spicy wings from here I experienced bad heartburn afterwards. I don't recall having this issue after having Cafe Soho and their wings are on another level of spicy. I'll still come back here if I really want Korean fried chicken and don't feel like driving to Cheltenham. The honey soy is worth coming back for. read more

For those who have been to Bonchon or Cafe Soho, they do not offer soy garlic wings at Crunchicken. However, they offer more sauces which are good. Many places serve Korean fried chicken with the wing and tip intact. Instead, the wings/drums are the size of your typical buffalo chicken wing. The wings were definitely crunchy, double friend and everything. There was some sauce dripping from all the wings. The crunch balls were a disappointment. It was not bad and the sauce was actually pretty good. However, it was cold inside and it was drizzled with too much sauce. I recently was searching for spot to try a Korean corn dog, ended up going with Crunchik'n, and am so glad I did! I brought a fellow foodie and we split one of their crunch dogs along with some other bites. We went with a cheese crunch dog topped with potatoes and spicy mayo and coated with sugar. The cheese pull was legit! The combination of flavors very pleasantly surprised us!! If you're considering trying a Korean corn dog, you have to get the sugar coating. Trust me! It made the whole experience. We both thought it was delicious. Another huge high was that I had one of the best bubble teas! Mango bubble tea with passionfruit popping bubbles. So good!! Didnt have that crisp i was use to or looking for. I had the bowl. Im not sure why they layer lettuce between the chicken and noodles and rice. The interior is small but the people are all super nice. There's a couple of screens to order or you can order from the cashier. We ordered the crunch ball(Beef), the beef bowl over rice and 10 wings. It honestly wasn't super duper authentic but it didn't really bother me all that much because it tasted good. For example the breading on the wings was kind of lumpy and wasn't sleek but it sure did have a good crunch as their name suggests. I recently got to try a newer addition to their menu- crunchdogs! I am now a firm believer that fried cheese should be coated in sugar, such an unexpected but DELICIOUS combination. This is honestly a long overdue review. I tried this place once via delivery and decided to splurge on the Bulgogi melt and the regular french fries. I did not know what to expect, but I was truly impressed by both of the items. The beef was perfectly seasoned and the cabbage and salsa that they put on it just complimented it perfectly. The french fries were just the right amount of crispy without being too burnt. I had to facetime my friend just so I could show her how amazing the food looked. I was so impressed the first time that it was an easy decision to order from here again a few days later. This time I got the Bulgogi melt again, but I switched it up and got the kimchi fries. I loved the sauce that they put on the fries. You could definitely taste the kimchi flavor without it being overpowering, nor did the cheese make the fries soggy. Final verdict? Crunchik'n has rice bowls but it's not that tasty, just some salad over rice with a mediocre dumplin and meat (i had beef and they were a bit too dry) I'd rather to have bibimbop to accompany the wings... a little sad they don't have this option. Their new volcano sauce is actually fire. Their kimchi cheese fries are also some of the best fries in the city.
