I tried a bunch of food in Philadelphia and on my last day it was time to try something which felt like home. The space is light and airy and does have the Israeli feel. I got an iced latte, the Jerusalem Bage withl Smoked Salmon Scallion Cream Cheese, Cucumbers, Pickled Red Onions it was incredible. Jerusalem bagel incredibly fresh, not too much cream cheese and the pickled red onions were a great twist, cutting the deep fat of the cheese and the salmon. I would highly recommend this place. We have eaten at the high tops, in the main dining room, and at the tables extending into The Harper lobby, and each area feels like part of the same unified experience. The colors and lighting inside are especially warm and inviting, giving the room a glow that feels cozy and uplifting, especially during a Philadelphia winter. Food remains at the center of the experience, and my order is always the Jerusalem bagel with egg and cheese. On the rare occasions when turkey bacon appears, I add it as a welcome delicacy and a little extra sustenance, though the bagel is already delicious on its own. The cinnamon sugar kubaneh, the chocolate chip cookie, and the Bloody Mary are excellent. K'Far has also expanded its selection of bowls and salads since we ate here most regularly, and they look consistent with the quality of everything else. These days, a full breakfast here does not always fit within our budget, but I still make a point of stopping in for OX Coffee, which is delicious and, happily, roasted in Philadelphia. The Yemenite latte is another distinctive pleasure, aromatic and satisfying without feeling like a novelty created merely for attention. The staff is consistently charming, welcoming, and composed, and the team's continuity and energy suggest that people genuinely enjoy working here. When our budget allows, I will absolutely return to eat. Perhaps the clearest expression of K'Far's brilliance arrives in one memory from a cold, radiantly sunny Saturday, when "Inspector Norse" by the Norwegian producer Todd Terje comes through the speakers as the restaurant buzzes around us. The track, the worldly crowd, and the aroma from the kitchen create the elusive feeling Steve Cook and Mike Solomonov understand so well: people go out to eat because they want to feel seen and be briefly transported into a more vivid version of life. I already love K'Far and The Hoxton as separate brands, so seeing them come together at The Hoxton in Williamsburg feels like an unusually natural and exciting partnership. Creating this kind of social magnetism inside a bakery and café is a subtle achievement, and Philadelphia is richer for having a place with this much flavor, warmth, and personality. read more

Like a spiced Vietnamese coffee. Sachlav - Loved! Like a cappuccino but with less milk. It wasn't as sweet which was a nice contrast to the sticky bun. I really enjoyed this cute café. It is so aesthetically pleasing the seating is a bit tight and the restaurant is kind of small but it works and I don't quite feel like I'm on top of people. There's also outdoor patio seating that's covered. We ordered a Yemenite latte which was good. I could taste the spices and enjoyed it. I really appreciated the metal straws that come in the drinks. The menu is a bit limited but they do have great options. We also ordered the brown sugar, ricotta toast, and the smoked salmon sandwich. We split this between two people and it was enough for the both of us. If you are hungry I recommend getting your own sandwich though. The prices are about expected for that area. The staff are observant and helpful. There's also only one bathroom so there is quite a line. I would definitely recommend going to this café for a light bite and drink. I finalize my recent bakery visits with K'far; which is much more than a bakery, but I I'll return to try some of their 'cafe' dishes another time. Of course, I'll start with what I believe is one of the best pastries in the city - the Pistachio Sticky Bun. It's one of my all time favorites. It's the most popular pastry they sell. It has a perfect balance of sweet and crunchy with a heavenly caramelized glaze exterior and a fluffy tender interior that's the result of an incredible 2 day process with dozens of steps to it. Next is the Walnut Cinnamon Babka. I believe K'far may be trying to follow in the footsteps of The Bakeshop's Chocolate Babka Bun. While this pastry was good - I think it falls between a babka bun and a Morning Bun. See attached picture. It's got a delicious glazed crust - with spirals of cinnamon inside, but the dough is more 'bun than babka' like. The Chocolate Rugelach was very dense - you can count almost a dozen layers of chocolate. It's very good - but very chocolaty. The online description is 'flaky, buttery texture.." it's not. It's very moist, so the dough has a thicker consistency, with a very deep chocolate flavor. The last pastry was the Apple Cranberry Turnover. This was basically a croissant type pastry with a small amount of apple cranberry filling. The pastry was flaky and flavorful with a light sweetness. I wish there had been more filling - which the croissant needed for balance, but it was still delicious. read more

Came to K'Far for a quick lunch - it was a random weekday so luckily there was no line! I opted to eat on the lovely little patio. I got a chai latte with oat milk and a Shakshuka (which, they told me is not a traditional Shakshuka but rather reimagined as a pasty). It was delicious! The chai latte had great depth and spice flavors, and the Shakshuka pastry was a great mix of flaky puff pastry and strong tomato and egg flavors. Finally stopped in at K'Far cafe for a late snack, getting the egg and cheese Jerusalem bagel. Have had friends rave about some of the pastries, but I'll have to try them on my next trip here. Inside has lots of seating, and there is also a small outdoor patio. Ordering can be done near the front with the display cases for baked goods. With the outstanding and unique coffees and pastries served in an incredibly beautiful ambiance, the wait is always quite long (45 min-1hr for some folks who walked in after us) but it's well worth it! Unfortunately we visited K'far after a hefty brunch so we didn't have much room for pastries or bagel sandwiches, but they're on my bucket list for my next trip. The spiced fig and honey latte was heavy on the aromatics with a lighter sweet note, which made the oat milk I subbed in stand out more. The vanilla cardamom latte, however, was the reverse - a bit sweeter but less of a cardamom or spiced note. Both were so delicious! Next, I decided to have the Smoked Salmon Jerusalem Bagel. A soft crisp lightly toasted bagel was covered in sesame seeds and filled with decadent cream cheese, cool meaty salmon, and tangy pickled onion and cucumber. The entrance is kind of hard to see so we ended up passing by the place before noticing. We came here on a Saturday and had to wait around 30 minutes for a table. We got seated in a space that's outside of the main restaurant and flows into the lobby of The Harper. We didn't mind though, because it was much quieter there. We ordered the Yemenite latte and the pumpkin bhaharat latte for drinks. Both were great and not too sweet! They make their syrups in-house. For food, we got the smoked salmon and the grilled cheese, Jerusalem bagel. We were very surprised about the bagel, we loved it! It had a nice crispy exterior that paired very nicely with the inside and filling. There was a good balance of bread and filling. It would be nice if there was a side salad or some greenery that goes with the bagel but overall it was great. For dessert, the chocolate rugelach was recommended so we tried it. We were warned that it was small, and small it was. It looked like a mini croissant, but when you bite into it, it is much denser and sweeter. I think the size was actually perfect because of how sweet it was. I think next time I come here, I'll probably get the bagel to go instead of dining in to avoid the weight. My husband and I love the Jerusalem bagel anyway it comes! I love it with scallion, he loves the egg and cheese and the one with lox as well! The texture is different than any bagel we've had! It's long, thin, and crispy yet chewy when toasted (which is how it comes). I think this is my favorite scallion cream cheese in the area! I can only really describe the rugelach as a denser chocolate croissant that is slathered in syrup. It is so good, but a little too sweet, I can appreciate the use of dark chocolate because it definitely needs the bitterness. The bagel? Blew me away. I didn't really know what to expect with a bagel this thin but now it has me questioning every other bagel. K'far Cafe lives up to the hype and great reviews. I ate there two days in a row during my recent visit to Philly. First time, I walked in on a weekday morning around 10am and there was no line - I was immediately seated. I got their signature egg and cheese bagel while my friend got the bagel with labneh trio. We loved their bagels - chewy, rich, and covered generously in sesame seeds. The egg and cheese bagel was definitely our favorite - I am still fondly recalling that breakfast sandwich as I write this review. The egg had an almost custard like consistency and the creamy cheese created a perfect symphony with it in every bite. My friend actually visited K'far again the following day just to get their egg and cheese bagel. The labneh trio was good but too much of cheese for our liking and we couldn't finish the dish. We also tried the pistachio bun and while it was nice, it was a tad too sweet for me. The next day, I tried their shakshuka boreka and it has to be one of the best breakfast items I've tasted in a while. Most recently a friend and I went on a Sunday morning, wait time was like 35 min so we walked down the street and did some shopping. Got back and got seated in a booth inside.
