    Apple Cranberry Turnover
    Joseph S.

I finalize my recent bakery visits with K'far; which is much more than a bakery, but I I'll return to try some of their 'cafe' dishes another time. Of course, I'll start with what I believe is one of the best pastries in the city - the Pistachio Sticky Bun. It's one of my all time favorites. It's the most popular pastry they sell. It has a perfect balance of sweet and crunchy with a heavenly caramelized glaze exterior and a fluffy tender interior that's the result of an incredible 2 day process with dozens of steps to it. Next is the Walnut Cinnamon Babka. I believe K'far may be trying to follow in the footsteps of The Bakeshop's Chocolate Babka Bun. While this pastry was good - I think it falls between a babka bun and a Morning Bun. See attached picture. It's got a delicious glazed crust - with spirals of cinnamon inside, but the dough is more 'bun than babka' like. The Chocolate Rugelach was very dense - you can count almost a dozen layers of chocolate. It's very good - but very chocolaty. The online description is 'flaky, buttery texture.." it's not. It's very moist, so the dough has a thicker consistency, with a very deep chocolate flavor. The last pastry was the Apple Cranberry Turnover. This was basically a croissant type pastry with a small amount of apple cranberry filling. The pastry was flaky and flavorful with a light sweetness. I wish there had been more filling - which the croissant needed for balance, but it was still delicious.

Quick. Easy. Tasty. Stopped in today for the egg and cheese Jerusalem bagel. Saw it on TikTok quite a bit and wanted to give it a try. It was delish. Fresh bagel bread, moist egg, cheesy and a bit of spice. I'll definitely be back for that. 10 bucks but it was pretty big! The space is beautiful and the staff is friendly. The wait was a little long, but they had a full house so no big deal.

I visited M'Far Café for breakfast recently and had a phenomenal experience. I started with a Spiced Fig & Honey Latte which was very flavorful and not too sweet. Next, I decided to have the Smoked Salmon Jerusalem Bagel. A soft crisp lightly toasted bagel was covered in sesame seeds and filled with decadent cream cheese, cool meaty salmon, and tangy pickled onion and cucumber. The sandwich was a perfect blend of flavors and textures. I also had the Pistachio Sticky Bun which was warm, soft, nicely doughy and covered in a sweet and sticky caramelized glaze. The pistachios added a nice crunch and flavor. This was a perfect pastry.

Soo cute, perfect brunch spot with unique flavors! I only came here to try their lemonade, but I hope to be back soon for their foods and to sit down and appreciate the service. Overall, I really love the interior, it is gorgeous inside and the perfect date spot, brunch with friends, or even just to grab a drink or snack to go.

K'far was described to me as a Philly classic, and after visiting I can see why. With the outstanding and unique coffees and pastries served in an incredibly beautiful ambiance, the wait is always quite long (45 min-1hr for some folks who walked in after us) but it's well worth it! Unfortunately we visited K'far after a hefty brunch so we didn't have much room for pastries or bagel sandwiches, but they're on my bucket list for my next trip. The spiced fig and honey latte was heavy on the aromatics with a lighter sweet note, which made the oat milk I subbed in stand out more. The vanilla cardamom latte, however, was the reverse - a bit sweeter but less of a cardamom or spiced note. Both were so delicious! I can't wait to try a pistachio sticky bun or one of their giant cookies next time I return to K'Far!

I have been back here few more times for brunch after my initial review. The service and the food quality have been very consistently good. I am a sucker for good pastries, and this place does not disappoint. I tried to resist, but today my feet just walked towards K'far and got some pastries and Yemenite Latte (my go to drink here).

The entrance is kind of hard to see so we ended up passing by the place before noticing. We came here on a Saturday and had to wait around 30 minutes for a table. We got seated in a space that's outside of the main restaurant and flows into the lobby of The Harper. We didn't mind though, because it was much quieter there. We ordered the Yemenite latte and the pumpkin bhaharat latte for drinks. Both were great and not too sweet! They make their syrups in-house. For food, we got the smoked salmon and the grilled cheese, Jerusalem bagel. We were very surprised about the bagel, we loved it! It had a nice crispy exterior that paired very nicely with the inside and filling. There was a good balance of bread and filling. It would be nice if there was a side salad or some greenery that goes with the bagel but overall it was great. For dessert, the chocolate rugelach was recommended so we tried it. We were warned that it was small, and small it was. It looked like a mini croissant, but when you bite into it, it is much denser and sweeter. I think the size was actually perfect because of how sweet it was. I think next time I come here, I'll probably get the bagel to go instead of dining in to avoid the weight. The bagel doesn't have a lot of filling, so I wouldn't worry about it getting soggy.

Nice cafe where everything tastes good and people are friendly My favorite was the borekasim. Three types all delicious pastries and unique Labneh trio - 3 spreads where honey pistachio was my favorite. Hard to taste the flavors on the others. The dough was cooked so well Yemenite coffee latte was sweet and delicious Smoked Salmon sandwich - tasty and not too strong of a cream cheese flavor. Tastes lighter despite a huge portion. Overall, service was great. Polite staff despite it being so crowded and tables crammed in - don't do any secret deals you're right up next to other people lol. Food was amazing. Easy to share with others and you walk away not feeling greasy or food feeling too heavy. Plus you get unique food options. Highly recommend! Service: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Ambiance: 4.5/5

My disgusted and I stopped here after a yoga class for brunch. We were happy to get a seat within 10 minutes after waiting in the wrong line lol The hostess was very nice as was our server. My daughter enjoyed her Yemenite Latte. My Persephone Spritz was excellent. It was a little bigger than typical cocktails and refreshing. The Quinoa and Kale salad was delicious. We added chicken for some after work out protein. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The Kubaneh toast was amazing! The ricotta was whipped so smooth. It had a tartness and slightly sweet taste. The apricot drizzle was yummy. We sat outside in the little courtyard. It is set off the street so it feels more private. The indie has tables and bar seating. The Middle Eastern vibe is relaxing.

Loved the bagel here it was so light and fluffy and did not feel food coma after eating The toast was also amazing It was perfectly buttery and had great texture The trout on top was perfectly pickled and seasoned to perfection

K'far Cafe lives up to the hype and great reviews. I ate there two days in a row during my recent visit to Philly. First time, I walked in on a weekday morning around 10am and there was no line - I was immediately seated. It's such a cute cafe you'll want to sit down for a bit, soak in the vibes, and enjoy your food and beverage instead of rushing out with your take-out order. I got their signature egg and cheese bagel while my friend got the bagel with labneh trio. We loved their bagels - chewy, rich, and covered generously in sesame seeds. The egg and cheese bagel was definitely our favorite - I am still fondly recalling that breakfast sandwich as I write this review. The egg had an almost custard like consistency and the creamy cheese created a perfect symphony with it in every bite. My friend actually visited K'far again the following day just to get their egg and cheese bagel. The labneh trio was good but too much of cheese for our liking and we couldn't finish the dish. We also tried the pistachio bun and while it was nice, it was a tad too sweet for me. The next day, I tried their shakshuka boreka and it has to be one of the best breakfast items I've tasted in a while. Think of a giant buttery puff pastry topped with shakshuka style tomatoes and egg - it was perfection in every bite. The cafe is definitely a little pricey, but seems worthwhile for occasional treats, especially considering the beautiful interiors and the quality of the food here.

It's such a cute cafe with friendly staff. As soon as we entered, we were immediately greeted and seated. the glass water bottle were already chilled on the table and ready for you to self serve. Yemenite latte: very light coffee flavor. Chai latte: it smelled like it had a lot of Spice and kick to it but once you drank it, the drink itself was pretty bland The smoke salmon bagel: delicious! But wish it had more salmon! I would come back to try their pastries !

    Sandy C.

My husband and I love the Jerusalem bagel anyway it comes! I love it with scallion, he loves the egg and cheese and the one with lox as well! The texture is different than any bagel we've had! It's long, thin, and crispy yet chewy when toasted (which is how it comes). I think this is my favorite scallion cream cheese in the area! This is a place we always bring our guests too! :) Personally the pistachio sticky bun was a tad sweet for me! But my friends and cousin love it!!! It's their number one item to get here! As long as it's not the weekend it's pretty easy to get seating inside! Weekends can be 20-45 minute wait depending on our party size!

We got a 9:30pm reservation, which was late for my usual dining habits but absolutely no question worth the extra few hours to build up and appetite and anticipate going to such a renowned restaurant. We were met with a beautiful dining room and kind, passionate people at Zahav, especially our bartenders, who made our experience a true EVENT, describing each dish to us even as we were making decisions on the tasting menu, and vouching for the fact that we MUST try the halloumi, which ended up being my favorite dish! Wow, the care that is put into the craft of this food is unreal. Zahav is a true celebration of cuisine. We started with the laffa bread being served straight out of the fire with accompaniments which were absolute flavor bombs, especially the eggplant and pickled cabbage. The bread was warm, soft, and so flavorful in itself but made even better by the hummus-tehina, which was perhaps the smoothest I've ever had. The Pomegranate Lamb Shoulder fell right off the bone, and the Amba-braised Greens and Crispy Persian Rice were side dishes that felt like main events in themselves -- the crispiness of the rice perfectly complemented the pomegranate sauce of the lamb. This was the perfect celebration dinner, and Zahav quickly made it to the top of my list of places that live up to their hype and go above and beyond in the kindness realm.

The chicken shishik and Romanian beef kebab hit the spot. I was thinking the portion size could be some what bigger but I was surprisingly full after I was done the dessert. Also the brown sugar vanilla taste better (Personal preference) than the tehina soft serve. Presentation and politeness was met. Overall great experience.

I had the opportunity to visit Greece for the first time a few years ago, and while I always liked…read moreGreek/Mediterranean food, the trip 'heightened my senses', and I now seek out the food I enjoyed so much during my visit. Almyra - I happened to walk by it a few weeks ago, I didn't know it was there. I thought, 'looks very nice, I'll have to try it'. The restaurant, which features 'modern Greek' is part of the Estia Group, which includes 7 restaurants - 3 of which are in Philly (Estia and Pietro's are the other two). I went for dinner this evening on a Wednesday, and there was a good crowd - the restaurant is quite large, and it's decorated beautifully. I started with three of the Spreads - Smoked Eggplant, Beet, and Hummus. It was wonderful trying these 3 - I spread them on the pita and crispy rice crackers - and tried them separately - spoonful by spoonful, to really taste the differences. The Edamame Hummus has a unique flavor and texture with tahini and garlic. The Beet features roasted beets blended with labneh and garlic and topped with pistachio and feta. The Smoked Eggplant with peppers and balsamic rounds out the 3 with a deep, smoky flavor and a soft, smooth texture. I always look for 'classic' Spanakopita these days, but rarely find it. The dish at Almyra was labeled 'Spanakopita Manti' - I asked my server, what that was. She said it was a favorite of hers, a fried 'flower shaped' pastry filled with blended spinach and feta, served with tzatziki and leeks. I ordered them and they were heavenly - lightly battered, crispy fried 'flowers', with a creamy spinach center, that tasted exactly like spanakopita should. I dipped every bite in the creamy tzatziki and thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer! While pork is the most popular meat in Greece, lamb is a dish served on special occasions and holidays. I 'discovered' lamb in Greece, as I hadn't ordered it that often when I would go out to eat....specifically the lamb chop. Almyra has a great lamb chop! It's seared on the grill - and I do mean seared - the deep char definitely adds to the flavor. The 3 large chops are Australian lamb, herb marinated for days highlighting the flavor of the meat. They are seasoned with sea salt, cracked pepper and olive oil for a tender finish. I like my meat pink inside - not red or rare. Cooking lamb chops medium to medium well is no small feat, yet the meat was cooked exactly the way I liked. They were tender and very juicy. These chops may have been some of the thickest I've had - and I made the 'mistake' of trying to eat them with a fork and knife. Wrong! If you order chops, you 'MUST PICK THEM UP' and eat them! What a difference!! The meat just came right off the bone and it enhanced both the texture and flavor! I'm not sure why eating them off the bone was so different, but I can't emphasize it enough - and, it's a lot more fun! Part of the treat when you order ribs are the 'layered potato fries' you get with them! These aren't your ordinary fries, in fact, they're really not fries - they are little potato masterpieces! The fries are prepared by thinly slicing potatoes and layering them to create a multi layered texture that rocks! They are truly a savory, rich side dish to the lamb chops! After such an epic dinner, I had to order dessert, and the Olive Oil cake immediately caught my eye. It was a two layered cake with a creamy custard like center and a citrus orange topping. It was light and moist, accompanied by a scoop of vanilla gelato resting on a bed of ground pistachio nuts! It was delicious and a wonderful ending to a great meal!

Fine to have a dress code. Fine to enforce it. Not fine to not have staff communicate. We were at a family happy hour and my wife choses to wear a head covering for religious reasons. They asked her politely to remove and she explained. All good. They then came back three times and several times pointed at our table. The last time the bouncer scoffed when we explained. Not cool.
