    POTATO GNOCCHI
    Bridget M.

Beautiful restaurant with a whimsical front patio. Service was fantastic, he even helped us with recommendations of where to go afterwords for a cocktail. We all enjoyed our food, 2 of us had potato gnocchi and 2 bolognese. It was large portion and filling, we probably could've split the gnocchi. Started with calamari and focaccia bread. All great!

Came here for a work gathering, got a seasonal sangria. It was pretty good. I'd come back here for happy hour or sips. Didn't try the food but waitress was consistent and comfortable with all of our questions.

The food and drinks were great. They had some mocktail options which was nice. Our server was very attentive and helpful when deciding what to order. We sat inside but the outside looks gorgeous for a day with better weather! But even the inside was very well decorated and clean.

Ambience and service was great! We had a weekday night reservation and we were seated immediately. Drinks 1. Berry ginger soda 7/10 - little too sweet for my taste 2. Dark and Stormy 9/10 - delicious! Appetizers 1. Bean dip with bread 6.5/10 - We were not super impressed as the dip was a bit bland and underwhelming. 2. Mushroom arancini 8/10 - portion included 3 arancini balls and we enjoyed the yellow sauce that arancini came in. 3. Salmon avocado sandwiches 9/10 - Great flavor and large serving size. We like this dish the best out of all the appetizers we had. Entrees 1. Lobster ravioli 6/10 - good filling, but the sauce was a bit underwhelming, might not order again. 2. Salmon picatta - 10/10 - my husband ordered this, but it was so good that I found myself taking bites out of his plate. Best dish of our meal! Salmon was well cooked and delicious sauce! Would definitely order again! Dessert - Blueberry shortcake 7/10 - The yellow sauce and blueberry topping was just a tad too sweet for us, but overall decent dessert.

Went here for brunch and got the buttermilk pancakes with crème brûlée better. How good does that sound?? It was perfect and the pancakes were so fluffy and reminded me of my grandmother's. Also had a side of potatoes which were crispy and flavorful. We sat in a cabin which was a cool experience!

This is definitely the kind of spot that is more for the vibes and less for the food. We were looking for a place to grab brunch on a beautiful fall morning, and the outdoor space at Harper's Garden was extremely inviting. It's beautifully decorated with a ton of hanging flowers and pumpkins, and the vibes are 10/10. Unfortunately the service was incredibly slow and the food was lackluster. It just felt like greasy spoon diner food - and nothing screamed 'expensive brunch' except for the prices. Definitely regrettable, considering there were probably 10+ better spots within a few minutes. Luckily the outdoor patio helped make up for it, but I still would not return.

Cute patio area, decent food and happy hour specials, and the staff was super polite, and helpful especially when we asked for other recommendations around the city

    CHOPPED ITALIAN SALAD FRIED CALAMARI
    Hannah J.

Food: Solid! We were very happy with the quality though the portions were inconsistent. Our appetizers: Italian Chopped Salad & Fried Calamari. The salad was a generous size, delicious & def recommend! Calamari was good but the portion felt skimpy. Considering the big boat of sauce & price maybe it was an overlook by the staff that the serving size was very small. For entrees we ordered the Manhattan Steak & Rigatoni a la Vodka. Flavors were great! (I added chicken to my pasta after seeing a table nearby get their's with added grilled chicken.. but when my plate arrived, I had about half the amount of chicken I saw on someone else plate, so this was rather disappointing). Still tasted good, just another portion inconsistency. Drinks: I ordered a mocktail: Bee's Knees it was fabulous. My boyfriend ordered a Harper's Sangria & he really enjoyed it. Ambiance: Very beautiful! Great place for a date night, a drink at the beautiful bar area, or friend gathering! Service: Our server Katie was welcoming & efficient!

Had a holiday event in the back room and I must say they did an amazing job. The waitresses were friendly and accommodating, and the food was delicious. Service was fast, and our guests were happy. The space was the perfect size for a small group. If I'm ever in Philly again, I'll definitely come back and try more dishes from the menu.

Expensive for the quality of food. Service was very subpar this time which is sad because a total opposite of my first experience here. Unfortunately because the food quality has gone downhill I will not return for a while. Cute seating outside. My cup was not clean.

I came here for a business lunch this past summer and was surprised by how mediocre it was. As you can see from the pics, the calamari was undercooked. The burger was...okay. None of the food really did it for me. It was just completely average. The ambience is cute but deceiving. We sat outside and the table was dirty. Our waiter was...okay. there were multiple times when we were just waiting for him to come back. I might go back here for a drink but I wouldn't go for the food.

    Pasta fagioli
    Rilie F.

Great happy hour deals! $7 select appetizers, and $5 beverages. My whipped ricotta crostini was amazing. The pasta fagioli was flavorful and so perfect for the cold day. Tried my friends pesto gnocchi and it was great. An earthy, fresh pesto. Would love to come back

    Omelet with potato hash
    Shabby A.

Its a beautiful place, servers are polite and attentive. Food was ok. My crab cake and avocado eggs Benedict were very average. mimosa was very good, cappuccino very milky The crab cake was thinner than sausage and big lump of avocado just plonked on a muffin. Hash were the worst. Stale and hard. Nashville chicken and grits were good, accompanying polish sausage were super. Omelet was ....omelet. nothing great. Served warm, not piping hot weirdly no breads were offered or served at all. 3 people bill was 90$ so pretty reasonable. Won't return though.

Ask the Community - Harper's Garden

Are there steps to get into your restaurant?

    Yes

Is there any open-air seating? Greenhouses and enclosed outdoor spaces don't have outdoor air circulation. For folks who aren't dining indoors, sitting outside in an enclosed space is basically indoor dining. Do you have any open-air dining options?

Yes. No roof, no walls on the patio.

Can you tell me the gluten free brunch options?

Hi Wendy- For brunch at Harper’s Garden we have a few gluten free options…. Field Green Salad…

Is the patio warm enough if temperature below freezing?

Hi Louise, the enclosed patio does have heat circulating throughout. Most guests dine without coats, even with the cold weather we had this weekend. I can not answer for everyone but I hope this helps.

Are dogs allowed in the outdoor heated seating area?

    Yup I saw one there

Is there still late night happy hour?

Harper's Garden does not currently offer late night happy hour, however, we do offer our Weekend Lite Fare menu which is available Friday - Sunday 2:30 PM - 5 PM.

    Is the outdoor patio heated?

Yep! Our patio and greenhouses all have 100% fresh air heating, to keep everyone warm and safe.

Are the greenhouses heated? They have the dining pods that resemble a greenhouse. Are those heated inside the glass pods? Thank you

Yes! The private greenhouses are heated! Enjoy!

What happens if it rains with outdoor seating? Is there coverage or umbrellas?

Is there an option to substitute another juice instead of OJ in the bottomless mimosas?

Unfortunately no. I made a suggestion to the manager that they at least offer 1 other flavor option.

It is intimate, friendly, down-to-earth, and totally unique. I don't visit Philly as often as I'd like (I live in NYC but grew up here) and while I'm always keeping up with dining scene, it's rare and thus special when I get to put a space to the name, so the speak. Next of Kin has a quirky, playful, impressively creative menu with drinks that are memorable. We came here at around 10:30pm on a Saturday night after dinner. There was a bit of a line outside which moved slowly, but we were given cute champagne jello shot things for our patience which were delightful and a fun little preview of what to expect on the inside. The seating options consist of tables, bar, and what I believe they call "love pods", all of which are beautifully designed. We were seated at the bar, which is our preference anyway. I always like chatting with the bartenders and hearing about the craft, and it is particularly enjoyable when they're as friendly and generous as the folks who work here. We were talking to them about some of their infusions and they let us try a taste of the coconut mezcal and the bruleed banana infused rum and both were unreal on their own. We ended up getting the Coco Bello (coconut mezcal, apertif, aromatized wine) which is a white negroni variation and the Swamp Thang (green chartreuse, herbal liqueur, pineapple and poblano tepache), which was served in some particularly memorable glassware (pictured). Both drinks were exceptional and complex, the former more sophisticated and the latter wacky and wholly unique.
