It just felt like greasy spoon diner food - and nothing screamed 'expensive brunch' except for the prices. Both the interior is thoughtfully decorated, and outdoor is very cute, especially in great weather. Our server was great too. Friendly, stopped by at appropriate timings, overall good experience. So why 3? Overall, Harper's missed the mark for me on price/value and quality. I'm all for paying for good quality food, and I do think we live in a time that's just hard for restaurants to survive.. I feel for them. I'm merely reviewing as a consumer. The brunch grits/chicken was $22 pre tip and tax, served in a shallow bowl and a thinly pounded slice of chicken breast. Flavor and execution were there.. just the price/value was not for me personally. It's definitely safe from a service and food standpoint but there's definitely other tastier/elevated brunch spots in Philly. The service was phenomenal, the hostesses helped me with finding parking. They were also very lenient with arriving late. The menu is limited, a few egg options, several seafood options, some meat options and a couple of sweet options. The portions are relatively small and there isn't anything exceptional about the food. We got everything off the menu that was vegetarian and pescatarian. I would recommend the French toast hushpuppies, it comes with this crème brûlée butter which is decadent. It has pieces of toffee in it or something. I would not recommend salmon flatbread, the flatbread had no structure to it. The dish seemed off and not that fresh. read more

My two small complaints are that service was really slow and the food portions are inconsistent. It took us over 30 minutes to just be served water and even longer to order. I guess it's nice not being rushed and having the privacy of the cabin room but we had to get up to alert someone twice. Other than that, I really enjoyed! I have been here a few times and the food is good. Went out to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday with a party of 6. We opted for the heated greenhouse, which was cute. I personally would have preferred it during milder weather, which is no fault of the restaurant -- that is on a friend that coordinated this dinner event. It ended up being windy and briefly rained. Customer service from the wait staff was decent. Waitress had to be reminded about salt and paper shakers, water refills, and a glass of prosecco. I selected the no shirt no shoes cocktail, grilled shrimp app, grilled salmon main dish, and mascarpone cheesecake to finish. The cocktail was okay. The grilled shrimp appetizer is great. The accompanying harissa sauce had a spicy kick that I was able to tolerate but it was far too spicy for a couple of my friends. The grilled salmon main dish was sitting in truffle cream sauce. I did like the flavor but I had to add salt and pepper. I wish there was more substance to the dish too. Risotto or something similar would have been a great replacement for the small amount of heart of palms in the dish. Lastly, the mascarpone cheesecake was too good. I was already stuffed, but I finished this dish completely. The fruit combination plus the rich mascarpone make for a decadent dessert. A couple friends ordered the brussel sprouts app and they were so good! All in all, I found the food to be delicious. I want to return soon to try their weekend brunch menu. read more

This is a fantastic option for brunch! My friends and I came here for the first time this past weekend and were blessed with an awesome waiter who welcomed us with a great personality. We were seated in their "outdoor seating". It's technically outside, but it was enclosed. And I'm so thankful that it was! The weather this weekend was nice but a bit windy and chilly. Our seating was fantastic for the natural light (see pictures!) and provided us enough warmth and shielding from the real outdoors. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious, with a fantastic host greeting you as soon as you come in. We ordered some mimosas and cocktails, and it all came out asap! The food was very nicely prepared and looked just as good as it tasted. My only qualm is that the ham from the Monte Cristo couldn't be substituted, so I just got it put to the side. The eggs Benedict could've used some more salt or flavor in the sauce, only because the cooked greens really watered it down. The monte cristo was good overall, but if you get a lot of the sauce in your bite it is definitely sweet. It almost tasted like a thanksgiving meal smothered with cranberry sauce. And perhaps the right order would bump this from good/fine/solid to a 4 star really good/great. The outdoor dining section is nice, the indoors is a bit more cramped. Luckily we all dined outdoors. Some solid beers on tap, some unique cocktails (pricey, especially for the area with so many happy hour options, and lower 1 oz pours in the cocktails here). My salmon was good and though I enjoy spicy usually, the sauce was a bit too spicy for the dish in my opinion. Our charcuterie style appetizer platter was good enough, especially the cheese. We arrived 20 minutes before the dinner menu took effect and so they were kind enough to bring the dinner menu over to some of my companions so they could preorder. I did not eat food here but some of my party did and they all enjoyed what they ordered. I had two of the house sangrias made with red wine. It was tasty but did not taste very strong. Not a big deal since this was a business/education trip. Despite coming to Philadelphia often, I had never been here. So I plan to return with my family next time I'm there. Also bathrooms were clean. There are two of them. One downstairs for everyone and one upstairs that's for women. Also despite having my own separate bill, they did add the gratuity automatically.
