A restaurant surcharge?!?!?! Why? And why were we not informed?!?!?!
    Nancy P.

We've dined often at both locations, recently more often at the SG location because it's closer to us. Positives... We were seated quickly, our server greeted us quickly and took our drink order. Our drinks were brought in a very timely manner. We then ordered the cheese curds, because if you're at either location, cheese curds ARE a must! Our cheese curds arrived very quickly,at which point our server took our order. I ordered the chicken skewers and was totally pumped when I was told that lobster bisque was a soup option, yay! Hubby ordered the pulled pork sandwich with extra crispy fries. Negatives... After getting the cheese curds, it took at least fifteen minutes for my extremely bland lobster bisque to be brought out by a food runner.I was so disappointed. Our iced teas had been sitting empty, all while our server was hanging out behind the bar, not paying attention to his section, another negative. It was another 10 minutes for our entrees to come out. Hubby's extra crispy fries were limp and cold. My Greek chicken skewers were completely lacking in flavor. Suggestion for the chicken skewers, get rid of the ridiculous amount of feta, cucumbers and Kalamata olives, add a lot more seasoning to the chicken and you'll have a winner. This visit was a huge disappointment, I'm sad to say.

Chili - Honestly SO freaking delicious, just try it.

A true hidden gem! Love love looooved our bartender and the decor was surprisingly SUPER cute. I was not expecting this in sugar grove for some reason. It's actually nicer than the other location I've previously been to. The steak nachos and chili are a MUST. I loved the back to basics old fashioned and apple whiskey margarita. Only complaint was the menu pricing didn't match what they actually charged... so I would just say work on that so there is nothing people can complain about. Don't add extra hidden fees to the cocktails without communication. Will definitely be back as the food, drinks, and customer service were all on point. I can't wait to try the key lime pie next time and I'm excited to see the patio in the summer/fall.

Stopped in with family and friends today and found their flag at full staff. Inquired to the manager who deflected and shrugged her shoulders. We have frequently patronized this establishment but this will not be the case going forward. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the order to lower the flag, your customer service needs an overhaul! There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and we choose to dine elsewhere.

Came here last week with family for dinner. They were able to accommodate our group of 10 with a reservation. The waitress was friendly and attentive, ensuring drinks were always replenished (even for our pop guzzling kids!). Smoked martini and Old Fashioned were awesome. Large menu. I had a steak sandwich- tasty and they easily accommodated substitutions (type of cheese, hold the mushrooms ).

Let me tell you that autumn as our server and she was wonderful. Timely, attentive, funny and personable. The added bonus was the music on the patio in the middle of the day. That guy was great. Overall from the moment we walked in the door and were met with Desire and seated; they knocked it out of the park. Food was great and service was better. Don't miss this one.

The poached pears were exquisite. The fresh spinach and thin-sliced pears were the perfect bed (better than arugula would have been) and the crans, feta and crushed nuts were great for balance and texture. But let's talk about that chicken's agave marinade. It was zesty with a slight acidic citrus to balance the sweetness from the pear. The whole deal was delicious. And with the maple-dijon vinaigrette to top it off - well, that topped it off! My buddy got a Hippie Chic sandwich and he liked it very much too. I don't usually write reviews on first visits and certainly never before for a salad but the Vault is a gem that should be on full display, not locked away!

There were two waitresses in our area and it was clear ours was not as serious about their job as the other. We waited long enough after being seated to start to wonder id we had been forgotten. Two other tables (seated after us by the other waitress) had been seated and got drinks before our someone came to our table. When I did get my water it had plastic wrap in it. The other waitress took it from us to get a new one. No sorry, nothing. Acted like nothing happened. Our waitress delivered the new one 10 solid minutes later. It was Not super busy at this time. Why so long? And again no acknowledgement of the plastic.. couldnt get myself to drink anything else with worry of contamination of the ice box. Order the california chicken sandwich and brussel sprouts. My mother had the smash burger. She seemed to enjoy it though both sandwiches were stacked super tall and mine had two huge thick red o ions on it. A bit overpowering but mine was good after that was removed. Brussel sprouts were significantly salty. Wasnt able to get through them. My mom got the fries and tho were standard. She also got a bloody mary. It was alright she seemed to enjoy it. Waitress was a little sarcastic with us for no reason and the plastic and just overall service was unfortunate. It was enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth and I dont plan to return.

I had to check this place out. We pooled up and the exterior with the sign is almost whimsical, with curves meeting odd angles and this sign screaming their name. Then upon entering you walk into this curated fine dining atmosphere that is instantly attractive and a little muted when compared to the outside. I found it the perfect balance in design. If you're going to be that bold with the building, the food better match and match it did. We always sit at the bar when it's just the two of us. We find the bartender is normally the most amazing of all the servers. We got Taylor, and that man blew us away. With his perfect drinks and menu knowledge paired with his nice and humble attitude. It was the perfect example of why the bar should always be your destination for all restaurants. I started with 4 Miyagi and 4 Blue Point Oysters. I may be wrong if the other 4 were Blue Point because the Miyagi stole the show for me. All the oysters were presented with cards to make it easy to tell the two apart and were shucked perfectly with only one little piece of shell in one oyster. The brine was retained and the flavor and mouth feel were fresh. My partner went with the Lobster Maki which includes a little show of them torching the butter/marrow mixture out of a bone onto the roll. It was exquisite. Dinner was a hard choice with all their amazing offerings. We went with the Tilefish and the Trout. The Trout was poached in Wagyu Tallow and was served Medium Rare. The tallow added a richness to each bite that paired well with the delicate trout. It was served with a cabbage wedge that will be burned into my memory as the best cabbage I've ever had. The Tilefish was the real star. We've never even heard of Tilefish before, and we will never forget it after. It was a more dense fish that had flavors of a firm whitefish mixed with lobster or crab. They took this amazing fish and they wrapped it in proscuitto de parma and cooked it to perfection. It was served on a the lightest mashed fennel potatoes and a light green salad with a sweet orange dressing. This had to be one of the best things I've ever experienced. Because of our exceptional experience and our 4pm reservation, we decided to get the Bolognaise and Ravioli to go to eat for dinner later that night. We made the right decision, each pasta was so delicious and hit every note we were hoping for. We also stopped in the cute deli in the back before we left and had to get the Two Cannolis to go also. They were the best Cannolis of my life and I need more now. I can't stop thinking about them. The drinks, oh my lord, the drinks! A curated menu that are plays on classic cocktails. You must try the Mediteraean, which is their play on a Gin & Tonic. The gin they use is not the pine tree flavor most cheap gins will give you. Instead you get this nuanced flavor that brings me back to the shores of Spain. It was that good that it teleported me to another place and time. I'm not going to list all of the ones we got in fear to sound like a lush but they were all worthy of their price tag. Finally the price. In today's day and age, Fortunato is keeping it fair and right. You can spend more at a chain sandwich shop then some of their meals cost and flavor wise, there is no comparison. I praise their owner for charging very fairly for everything. They have some very expensive meals, but the expensive meals use expensive ingredients. You have no right complaining about any of the pricing here. They, once, are perfect. As you can tell, I am over the moon with this place. I will be going back time and time again. I have found a Chicago Style restaurant in the heart of the suburbs. This is a destination restaurant. You must go. I will be bringing everyone I know back here. I can not wait to experience more of this amazing menu. Kudos all around!
