Went with some family and friends to this restaurant for a celebratory meal recently and I was…read morereally impressed. The cocktail menu features several cocktail specialties, a deep wine and bourbon menu, some other spirits, and a variety of primarily KY brewed beers. I had a couple of the latter options, and each of my two beers (neither of which I'd had before, a "Stone House" traditional lager and a "Kentucky Commons" low ABV cream ale). Our table split a couple of appetizers--the chili wantons and the spinach dip. Both were good with the slight edge to the wantons as they were fairly unique and very flavorful. The menu is not overwhelming--there are just over a dozen or so primary entree options but each looked very promising. I ended up going with the special, which that night was sea bass on jasmine rice with tomatoes. The sea bass was parmesan encrusted and super flavorful, literally every bite of my meal was on point. Great sauce that wasn't overwhelming, the fish and rice perfectly cooked, the little cherry tomatoes the best I've had all season. My wife had the fish tacos and loved them as well. Service was friendly. For the quality and ingredients, prices were fair. I'd say the drinks are even cheap. Dessert looked great, but none of us had room to try any. It was a rainy night and we were in the basement area, which is covered but doesn't have full enclosure, so it was loud as the rain hit the side covering, but dry and nice overall. We noticed two of the bar areas were empty on our way out, which looked like nice quiet places to meet. There's also the full upstairs dining room which looked nice. Reservations highly recommended.

While my service was a little touch and go, overall this is a solid spot. The outdoor patio seating…read moreis very lively and pretty. My beef stroganoff was creamy and hearty, with a nice tender beef provided from Le Moo. My cocktail was an aperol and St. Germain drink, a tiny bit too sweet for me, maybe not perfectly balanced, but still refreshing. It got busy quickly! I was offered champagne (was it champagne? I'm not sure, but sparkling bubbles). To be honest, I would either upgrade that bottle or skip this part, because while at first this was a nice touch, the quality of the sip was sweet and a little chemically. Overall, a spot I like to entertain if I am in the area.

From the moment we walked in just an amazing experience. We were part of a surprise party of 6 and…read morethe staff knew it. They created our birthday girl as a reservation for 2 instead of 6 and helped us surprise her at the table. The lighting is a bit dark but that helped the surprise. The manager brought out a sparkling wine and the chef sent out an amuse bouche. The pimento spread was so good we took a pint home for $20 (shhh secret). Our waitress Mo was professional a helpful with meal suggestions and separating some mushrooms for me. The shrimp appetizer is delicious and had 9 shrimp. The corn fitters come in 4 and Mo added 2. They were okay but I'd try something different in the future. The whole large kernels were odd in a light fritter. Our meals were fantastic. Everyone raved about bites of the filet and the chicken dish. The bolognese is a staple in the menu and was almost the perfect bite, perhaps a bit more meat in the sauce but the pasta was perfect. I had the wild boar and goat cheese polenta. The polenta didn't have a strong goatyness to it but was creamy, I ate it all. The boar was done to just short of falling off the bone. I used a piece of the grilled bread from my friends pasta to finish the meal. The wine list is short but complex. We had the Rioja red, so dry and smelled of old leather, but was a perfect wine to cut through the richness of the dishes. Our seat had a great view of the whiskey wall (almost every seat does) and it was a conversation piece the whole evening. Oh, forgot to mention the manhattan can be made into a black manhattan- outstanding. Best I've had in a restaurant. We are already making plans for our parties next birthday in July and will be asking for Mo. she was there at every turn throughout the meal. Pleasant and there to help at any point. The manager checked on us two times. WHP does fine dining so well. I haven't had such a wonderful evening for everyone in quite some time. We will be back and highly recommend. Will be sending out an executive's here when they are looking for L'ville dining. Well done. Sorry no pics, the room is dark and the ones I took don't do the meal justice.

Food 2.5/5: This obviously carries the most weight. The menu itself is excellent and the descriptions and components of each dish sound perfect. The execution was way off! Literally everything was far too salty and we ordered things that should not be salty... diver scallops and black cod. These are delicate proteins that don't need much help. Why oh why over-salt these?! Oddly the cook on both was very good but the seasoning ruined both dishes. Drinks 4.5/5: We had 3 different cocktails all of which were excellent.

My grandson was at a sleepover and my granddaughter picked Cheddar's for "her" night out. I think she picked it solely based on the honey glazed rolls they serve as appetizers. I had a burger. The burger itself was obviously hand-made or made in-house and was likely frozen (perfectly shaped and formed) but it had a decent flavor. The "toppings", however, elevated the burger from ho-hum status to "pretty decent". My wife and son both had the steak tips over rice. The steak was very good and the sauce (gravy) was very flavorful but a bit too salty. Depsite the sodium - they did both enjoy their meal. Service was good but not exceptional - I think they were short-staffed since there were quite a few empty tables but they weren't seating people right away.
