This is not the first time I've been here but the first time I've walked through the door to start the night. It was not the first time ending the night there however! It is an attachment to San tan brewery and also has food options from the San tan brewery but a smaller choice. They're open until 1am so it's also a great place to finish the night. We ordered the nachos with shredded chicken and also the chicken wings. They're both good to order. One thing to note is that the nachos are potato chips and not tortilla chips so it might not be something you prefer. The toppings were plenty and tasty. The guys ate it so fast while we were chatting. We ordered multiple different style and flavor old fashions and the menu will indicate if the it comes with an add on like cookie or bacon with a little icon. The cookies were all fantastic! The bacon was tasty but a little bit soggy and not crispy for my taste. But the fat and savor of the bacon really works well with the sweet old fashioned choices. The sweet cookie works well with the less sweet and more tart options. It's pretty smart. Our server, Hanna was very attentive with food, drinks and waters and also very upbeat. Definitely not a dull place to get a drink at all. People seemed to be having a good time and enjoying the cozy feel of the bar. When the bartender asked for my name, I was confused, but I gave it. Imagine my surprise when my drink appeared with my name on it. It made my whole dang night. Meet a friend for drinks and dinner here on a weekday evening, so it was pretty empty. I have attempted to come on a Saturday, but the wait for a table was too long and I'm pretty impatient lol. This place is pretty small, but the atmosphere is great. I love the wall of colored bottles, and the large round lighting fixtures above the round bar is pretty cool. We arrived during happy hour and ordered a couple of drinks and snacks off the happy hour menu, as well as something off the regular food menu. We started with the unnamed drink of the day, which was really yummy. It was fruity and kinda sweet (not TOO sweet), made with tequila, I think. We ordered the nachos, which were really good. They are made with potato chips (possibly house made??) instead of tortilla chips. Nice touch, as I would always rather have potato chips. We also ordered boneless buffalo wings. They were okay,nothing special, and kind of small. But they were fine. Finally, we ordered the Green chili pork Mac and cheese. I had seen this on the menu and was really looking forward to it. I had tickets to see a performance at the Chandler Center of the Arts on a Thursday evening, so I was looking for somewhere close by for a bite to eat before the show. I hopped on the trusty Yelp app and came across Spirit House. When I saw "Star Wars themed bar," that's all I needed to go. I parked in the parking garage a few minutes away on foot. Spirit House is located in the heart of downtown Chandler, so it can be a busy area. Ambiance (4/5): This is a good-looking bar, although a small one. The circular bar is in the center, with a couple of tables on the outside and also on the patio. I sat at the bar. They have bar stools without back support, which I'm never a fan of, but on a good note, outlets under the bar. There is some Star Wars decor here and there, but I was expecting more. The Star Wars highlight for me was when someone ordered a smoky old-fashioned, the bartender donned a Mandalorian helmet for a few seconds. Epic! O, and they also have free WiFi, which is always a plus. Service (4/5): The staff, including the bartender, were friendly. I had to grab their attention here and there, but overall, solid. Drinks (4/5): Spirit House has a nice list of craft cocktails, with an emphasis on whiskey. I'm not a whiskey drinker, but they still had plenty of options for me. Any spot that has creative cocktails is a winner in my book. Food (2/5): Here's where things fell apart a bit. The menu mostly consists of appetizers, pizzas, and sandwiches. I went with the Nashville nuggets, which are essentially chicken nuggets with a kick. They're also served with fries. The nuggets were crispy and flavorful. The fries were also crispy and well-seasoned. The problem was the nuggets were drenched in oil. To the point that they were swimming in oil. It ended up being such a heavy meal that I had stomach problems that night. And the day after. This is a rare occurrence for me. Pat down the nuggets at least! I found another great spot with delicious food and great drinks. In downtown Chandler hidden away is Spirit House. Small but cozy bar. Skye who served me and my sister was excellent. She made the best Classic Mai Tai. She also came to our rescue when a carpenter bee was hovering near us while dining on the patio. We were at no risk but it was so cool that she came out to check on us. I had the Nashville Chicken Nuggets that come with fries. This was so good. The perfect comfort food. The nuggets were chunks of Chicken breast with a perfect Nashville oil sauce that wasn't too spicy bit had a lfaint heat to it. The nuggets were cooked perfectly too. Spirit House is a sister company of San Tan Brewery. Spirit House distills all of their liquor, with the exception of a couple, like agave/tequila. I'm a big fan of Old Fashion cocktails, and Spirit House does not disappointment with an entire side of the menu devoted to a handful of specialties. HINT: get one with a cookie coaster, the cookies are delicious! For daytime/brunch drinking, their Bubbly Basi Lemonade is refreshing. They've got a great gastropub food menu as well. Nice place! Didn't realize til I got here it was San Tan's cooler younger sib who makes their own spirits and slings homemade pizzas. I quite enjoyed it! Inside is moody, outside is lively. My husband had a "lumberjack" beer and I started with a Painkiller cocktail. It was really delicious and nicely balanced! We ordered the whiskey chicken pizza to share. It was definitely doughy (it's called double dough) and was rich and flavorful. I personally wished there was a little more smoky whiskey forward flavor, but enjoyed it. Pro-tip: Get the wings! There's not a ton of seating so probably not ideal for a big group. Highlights: Shrinkflation has not hit the wings here! I was thoroughly surprised to see nine wings for the appetizer and 8/9 of them were very substantial in size. They had really fun flavors too like peach bourbon bbq and whiskey glaze. Great beer battered fries. The pesto pork pizza was pretty good as well and very crispy which can be tricky for pesto since it's so oily. I thought the real highlight was the customer service though - our waiter was SO attentive and quick. Lowlights: We asked for the burger to be cooked medium rare and it was incredibly red. The person I was dining with didn't mind so we didn't send it back, but I had to take my half home to reheat. Great place for a drink. Spirit House is Santan Brewing Company's tasting room and is located right next door to their Chandler location. I have been drinking beer from Santan Brewing Company for as long as I can remember and a big fan of Mr. Pineapple. I first learned that they were getting into spirits a couple years back when I picked up a bottle of Sacred Stave CaraMellow Salted Caramel Whiskey from Total Wine. I like putting that in my cup of coffee in the mornings. I love their spirits and they have a nice selection to taste or purchase here. The tasting room a beautiful space that holds around 50 people. The bar itself is pretty large with tables located next to some barrels. Spirits include vodka, whiskey, bourbon, gin, and rye. They have a number of cocktails, flights, and beers that you can order off the drink menu. In addition to spirits, they also have a food menu. The bartenders are pretty knowledgeable and one of them will put on a show by wearing one of his multiple Star Wars helmets. My usual go-to is an Old Fashioned when I come here. For whatever reason, me and the wife ended up bar hopping after we ate and drank at a fairly new Mexican brewery. This was our third stop and it ended up leaving a memorable impression. We sat at the bar. We were given a couple of menus, including a food menu. They had a pretty nice selection of food and drinks. Unfortunately we already ate; so we were only set on good libations. Chris ordered a Pain Killer and I ordered an Espresso Martini. I never had a really good Espresso Martini. Well guess what? I was just served the best Espresso Martini ever! It was just as I always imagined how it should taste. I loved the foam on top! It tasted like a slightly sweetened chilled espresso drink with a kick! I had two! Of course I had to chew on the espresso beans during and afterwards. The Pain Killer was good and similar in taste to a Piña Colada. After I downed my second martini, I ordered a JW Powell 12yr old scotch neat. That was a pretty good whiskey. Not Macallan 12yr old good, but decent enough. What I didn't know is that San Tan Brewery got into distilling and aging spirits- and this is their bar to showcase them all! My friend is a vodka drinker and I am a gin drinker so we each were directed to correlating items on the menu, and yes, both so good. Did I mention how crazy good the service is? Super friendly, welcoming and open to answer the barrage of questions you have once you find out San Tan Brewery is a distiller! Seeing I had eaten dinner I cannot review that, although looking at the menu I will be coming back to give that a try as well! When in Chandler do not miss checking out this place.
