The Good: Great breakfast food! The bacon egg and cheese biscuit was fantastic. The food was fresh and the biscuits were very good. They were a little short staffed so a longer wait was expected, but you call tell the two servers and owner were putting everything they had into the service. They were very friendly, coffee was fresh and hot, and the atmosphere was clean, bright, and very pleasant. The food was reasonably priced and we would definitely come back. The bad: they need help in the kitchen for sure just for speed of the orders. There is nothing else negative to say. They have a great menu. Summary: I only ate here for breakfast was really liked it. Go here with plenty of time because of their staff shortage, but you'll enjoy the food and if you came with someone it's just more time for coffee and conversation! read more

The owner hasn't a clue what he's doing and ran off the best staff he ever had. We live here and used to go quite frequently but we have steadily watched service go downhill and today we went for breakfast and were never acknowledged at all so after waiting a while we got up and left and they never said anything at all. December, 2025: Health Concerns The menu on line is out of date -- we went there because Vietnamese dishes were indicated on their web site, but they didn't actually have any. We should have left then, but didn't. The worst part was that I was served a very molding piece of bread there as part of the meal I did order. I asked the waitress to show it to the cook. This was our first day of a 7 day vacation to crystal beach, so why not try the local crystal beach cafe? Let me save you the time of making the trip and just don't go! Here's our story We walked in and were instructed by a waitress to have a seat anywhere! We sit down and many other families came in after us. It was about a half an hour into our wait that we were making the decision to go elsewhere because we had not even been seen for a drink order yet! At this point we are realizing that tables that came in after us have received drinks, are giving orders and some already receiving food! Clearly not a first come first serve restaurant. We finally get to put our drink order in and yet another 20 minutes go by before drinks ever hit the table. Every single time the waitress came to our table she repetitively kept saying I'm so sorry, I'm sorry! Brought the wrong food, didn't bring all the food, gave part of our first order to another table. It was a rough breakfast! The food was mediocre and our 2 littles couldn't even eat the eggs, they were not very appealing for scrambled eggs! We were at about 12 dollars a person for breakfast and when the 100 dollar tab showed up for the 5 of us, I didn't even have time to argue just paid and got out, they did not bring a paper copy just a machine with a total on it. After this experience I was asking some locals if this was maybe just an off day for them and they responded with "No, they have a rough day everyday" I wish we could have had a better breakfast to start our trip and we wish we could leave a 5 star review but there are other places to try! read more

I had a veggie soft noodles and it was delicious. I had to add chili garlic oil and sriracha to increase the heat level and balance the sweetness. But that's just me. I like my food on the spicier side. Husband ordered chicken fried rice and it was bland and flavorless and yellow in color. I was expecting more in the brown side. But guess it's close to Thai than Chinese. Thai tea was standard and decent. Vietnamese coffee was good and strong. Service was a bit slow. But the restaurant was full so kinda expected. Very clean and neat ambiance. Looks like a mom and pop shop. I am all in for giving my business to local shops! read more

Based on prior reviews I was really looking forward to this restaurant. My order was wrong, and did not taste good. I ordered chicken fried rice with no egg. I got shrimp fried rice with egg. I tried to eat it anyway, since this was a to go order, but the taste was not good. The rice was an orange color and did not taste like fried rice at all. My son ordered the orange chicken and fried rice, he took one bite and refused to eat the rest. We threw out all the food. It was pricey also. read more

We ate at the new cafe this week. We ordered a range of items to get a feel for the menu. Appetizer was the shrimp dumplings. They were good and fresh. I ordered the #13 Seafood Pho. I really enjoyed it, large amount and very fresh. My wife ordered the #52 grilled chicken banh mi. She said she enjoyed it, might have needed a little more meat but wasn't bad. Two of my children ordered the #44 chicken fried rice. They both liked it. My youngest ordered the #32 grilled sliced pork vermicelli. Seemed to need a little more sauce but the flavors were good overall. Large portions as well. Only complaint would be the service. Only one girl working and the drinks come in cans so you don't get a refill even though they are $2 a can. Service will get better I'm sure as they learn. We live in Houston near some great authentic Vietnamese food so we're worried that our bar was a bit high, but this place not only met expectations, in some cases it matched some of our top experiences. Our family got into Crystal Beach late on a Sunday, and after driving ~10 hours that day, we were exhausted and hungry. Crystal Beach doesn't exactly have a ton of food options, but we found this little gem on Yelp and gave it a shot. The food is amazing - some of the best Pho i've had. Their Bahn mi and porkchop/rice plate was awesome and had a ton of flavor. We also got their chicken fried rice, which was also very good and my kids loved it. The place is extremely clean and the staff and owner are great. This is a small family-run business with excellent food and service. We've already been here twice this week and plan to come back a few more times during our stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in visiting Crystal Beach! read more

I have a hard time writing a 1 star review for a restaurant; however, someone in our party had a severe peanut allergy. When placing her order, she asked to make sure there were no peanuts. By the time we finally got our food, hers came out with peanuts on it. We sent it back and explained again, no peanuts, deadly. Our waitress looked annoyed. 5 minutes later, she brought back a new one. Looking carefully through it, we found there were still peanuts, they were just covered up by the new meat. The rest of our food was all fine, but being that careless and rude about such a serious allergy is very upsetting. So my advice would be to stay away if you have any food allergies. read more

With only two reviews when we went, it was hard to know what to expect. The sweet and sour chicken had good flavor as did the orange chicken (nothing like Panda Express in case that's what you're expecting) but the Pad Thai was very different than what I'm used to, and I love ordering Pad Thai whenever it's on the menu. it was more yellow and had a different smell. Although the flavors were good The portions were a lot smaller than we expected given the $16 a plate price. Enough food for one adult to be satisfied but not full. We visited on a Wednesday during the slow season (April) and got seated right away. The service was decent and the food came fairly quick. Honestly was not expecting much going to a restaurant on Bolivar but this place was awesome!!! I didn't get pho but my wife did and I instantly regretted me decision.
