    Fried rice with chicken

I had a veggie soft noodles and it was delicious. I had to add chili garlic oil and sriracha to increase the heat level and balance the sweetness. But that's just me. I like my food on the spicier side. Husband ordered chicken fried rice and it was bland and flavorless and yellow in color. I was expecting more in the brown side. But guess it's close to Thai than Chinese. Thai tea was standard and decent. Vietnamese coffee was good and strong. Service was a bit slow. But the restaurant was full so kinda expected. Very clean and neat ambiance. Looks like a mom and pop shop. I am all in for giving my business to local shops!

Based on prior reviews I was really looking forward to this restaurant. My order was wrong, and did not taste good. I ordered chicken fried rice with no egg. I got shrimp fried rice with egg. I tried to eat it anyway, since this was a to go order, but the taste was not good. The rice was an orange color and did not taste like fried rice at all. My son ordered the orange chicken and fried rice, he took one bite and refused to eat the rest. We threw out all the food. It was pricey also.

After countless times coming, I've been meaning to make a review about this place. Everything in…read moretheir menu is something great, with some of my personal favorites being the Homestyle Trio with Eggplant, their Mapo Tofu (off menu, no gatekeeping), their Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup (a wee too spicy for me personally, but I love the simplicity of it), and the General Tso's Chicken. The eggplant dish mentioned is very rich and flavorful, with the eggplant cooked to be soft and almost mushy (but in a good way), nicely complimented by particularly the beef. Their lo mein is a little watery on various occasions, but still maintains a great and very nice flavor. Their fried rice is one of my favorites in the area and is always very well made no matter the time of day. The fried chicken wings, crab puffs, and crab bomber appetizers are both just such standouts in what is often an overlooked part of the menu by many restaurants. I have nothing but praise about how this place handles food. The staff is all really nice and welcoming from entrance to walking out the door. They are very good with order additions or food/allergy restrictions and the dishes always come out in a timely (but not rushed) manner, no matter whether it is a weekday morning or a busy dinner crowd. I'd recommend the lunch special for anyone coming around that time, as the deal of egg rolls, soup, and an entree or 2-3 sushi rolls for a low price is a steal. The ambiance nice for sure and the tables are clean, though I do sometimes get disoriented by the wallpaper they use (I think it's just me though). Whenever this place first opened, I was very disappointed in the restaurant. Meals were salt with a side of meat and rice and was just overall underwhelming. But now, it is one of my family's go to places whenever we need quality food in a short distance. Definitely worth a try, even over other restaurants in the area that serve a similar menu.

We started with the Pan‑Fried Pork Dumplings, delicious and surprisingly filling. For mains, we ordered the House Special Lo Mein and a Lunch Special that came with egg drop soup, fried rice, Szechuan shredded beef, and an egg roll. The soup was flavorful, thick, and nicely eggy. The fried rice was good, and the beef was tender and savory. The egg roll was also really good. The House Special Lo Mein, though, wasn't our favorite. The texture felt off, and the meat was colder than the noodles, so we couldn't really eat it. For a Chinese restaurant, the House Lo Mein is an important dish to get right. Overall, some hits and some misses.

It was very loud, making it difficult to even converse with those at our table. We had the muscle appetizer which was very good, followed by the braised beef special. The beef was good but I prefer it on the bone in a more stewed fashion. This looked almost like beef brisket and was a tad dry. The mashpotatoes and asparagus were very good. My friend had a very large crab cake. It had a nice large pieces of white crab meat that also had quite a bit of "stuffing." Others at the table had shrimp plates that looked amazing. They also had a happy hour which made drinks very reasonable. I would go back for sure. I would go back for sure.

For whatever reason the bartender, Sean, wasn't happy to see us. He asked us if we didn't like our table. Which I thought was weird to ask. Anyhow we did two appetizers once we were able to get Seans attention to order- Mussels and the Crab cake. Both were excellent. We had planned on ordering entrees but Sean never once checked back with us. So, we flagged him down (from 5 feet away) and asked for the tab. So, instead of getting tipped on $150 tab, he got tipped on a $65 tab. My wife and I are both service industry veterans and walk in expecting to drop at least a 25% tip. Sean earned a 15% tip. He cost himself and his employer money. Bartenders should be engaged and as social as they can be. We were the only people seated at the bar and the restaurant was quiet. No reason we should have been ignored.

We started with the egg rolls and gyoza as appetizers. Both were delicious, but the egg rolls were especially impressive--they were packed with flavor. The gyoza was cooked perfectly and tasted great as well. My wife ordered the Volcano Salad and absolutely loved it. It was fresh, flavorful, and a great way to start the meal. For my entrée, I tried several sushi rolls. The Godzilla Roll was my favorite by far. It had the perfect combination of crunchy and soft textures with incredible flavor--you don't even need soy sauce because it's that good. I also ordered the Baked Salmon Roll, which was something new for me. I loved that it was served hot, and the flavor was absolutely spectacular. The service was excellent throughout the evening. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made our date night even more enjoyable. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back. Highly recommend Akashi!

Sushi has always been solid--nothing life-changing, but consist and gets the job done. Service? A bit of a wild card... sometimes great, sometimes you're left wondering if you accidentally turned invisible. Tried the hibachi for the first time and... meh. Not terrible, not amazing--just kind of there. The shrimp was tasty, the noodles were decent, but the fried rice (my favorite part!) was a real letdown. Somehow managed to taste like straight oil with a side of disappointment. Overall: come for the view, stick to the sushi, and maybe let the fried rice sit this one out.
