Each dish was very flavorful and loaded with sauce!! The soup had almost too many gigantic Texas-sized wontons and the Lomain noodles had flavor like it slacked up the sauce like a marinade. And the hunan chicken was the best I ever had & my mom who is very critical Loved the roasted pork and all the dishes!! You know, I don't typically right reviews but this was my first time to try this place. Don't let the outside appearance of the building deter you from coming here. I placed an order at 8:15pm. I showed up around 8:30 and my food was ready. I didn't even open it, I just drove straight home. I ordered the General Tso's chicken with pork friend rice. Once I got to the house I opened it up and took my first bite. A smile ran across my face! The food was amazing. You could tell they cooked it just for me. I love Chinese food but everywhere else I have tried on the island is just ehh. I will definitely be back again. read more

I'm a local from Galveston I'm telling everybody that this place is the real deal I've traveled the world my hometown San Francisco California where we have a huge Agent Community I mean Chinatown is huge. Houston has a really good Chinatown community. Galveston has a terrible Chinatown community. OK I advise you to this is the only Chinese restaurant that is any good this is it this is very very very good Chinese food. On that note I would advise everybody do not go to happy Buddha. Found this little hole in the wall when I was craving Wonton soup. Their wonton soup is ahhh-mazing! Today I decided to try some of their other foods. It was edible but I was sadly disappointed. The Mongolian beef was super salty and kind of mushy. The chicken broccoli was better but still somewhat salty (yes I realize Chinese food is salty in general but this tasted REALLY salty). The fried rice is not what I expected. They may use jasmine? rice and it tasted a little sweet. Not my favorite. :( All in all, it wasn't a totally bad meal but I will try something different next time and see how that goes. You never know! I will DEFINITELY always come back for their wonton soup though. read more

So I call and order take out over the phone and all is good. We leave to go pick it up and when you pull up to the establishment and it looks run down and just god awful to the point I asked my husband "are you sure we should eat here?" He says sure so he goes in and pays and we leave. We get back to our room and this is not cashew chicken. I call them and tell them I think we got someone else's order, she argues with me and I tell her I don't want a refund I just want the right food. I explain to her what I'm looking at and she says it is cashew chicken, I tell her I really don't think it is but if this is what their cashew chicken looks like I don't want it. she tells me she will not refund me my money and hangs up on me. This was my first time trying Chinese takeout on the island. It really fell short of my expectations. I got the house special lo mein, which came with chicken, beef, and shrimp. The noodles and meat were flavorless. The shrimp had a weird texture and aftertaste. The meal was $8.75, which is more expensive than what I could get for a similar, but much better, dish in Houston. I gave them two stars because the food was ready very quickly. They probably already had it prepared and sitting on the stove though. It didn't taste like it was made to order. It will be a long time before I give this place a second change, and I definitely won't be having the lo mein again. read more

It also felt a little bit claustrophobic as the area wasn't well ventilated. Food: (2/5) Overall below average. -Combination with Rice: (2/5). I wanted chia mein but I guess they wanted to give me rice. I actually don't even know the price of my order. It was heavy on the veggies, light on the meats, and heavy on the rice. Overall, the flavor was okay. Definitely not what I wanted. -Combination Lo Mein: (3/5). Heavy on veggies. Light on meat. Tastes better than the rice portion. Lady who took my order via telephone was short and rude. Hardly warm and welcoming like the food industry typically is. It was a quick and easy checkout process. I walked in and my order was already rang up and waiting for me. Food was hot however not satisfying nor appealing. I ordered pork fried rice with a side of sweet and sour. The fried rice wasn't cooked all the way. hard and crunchy in fact- reminded me of rice you cook in the microwave. The sweet and sour is watery and lack luster- no real flavor that tends to be there with Chinese food. I really try to like China Sea. There really isn't any great Americanized Chinese food in Galveston; but of the options we have, China Sea is the best. Their prices and portions are good. Everything is cooked to order which lends to very hot and fresh food. My main complaint is that lately my dishes have been a bit bland. When I crave Americanized Chinese cuisine, and can't drive off island, I go to China Sea. I keep sriracha, authentic soy, duck, and oyster sauces at home and dress it up a bit. I think of it as a hot Am-Chinese (self season) kit at a good price. China Sea is so close to great, it just needs heavier flavor in their stir fry sauces. read more

Pretty good, I haven't been too impressed with Chinese food in Texas unless I go to Houston or Austin, first small town Chinese place in Texas that I have gone to more than once. Sauces are good and the ingredients tasted really fresh. At the risk of sounding like a blasphemer, the only thing I wish was that they used MSG, that Unami taste cant be beat, but America still believes the unfounded accusations that MSG is bad for you. I've been a customer of China Sea since I moved to the island. I've always thought it has the best Chinese food ON the island and is pretty authentic Chinese. This last time, however, the food I got was absolute CRAP. I ordered Chicken Chow Mein, which in the menu says it includes "Rice Crispy Noodles". I thought the "Rice Crispy Noodles" meant that the Chow Mein was so-called "dry style" (what my Chinese wife calls it, I don't know the actual name) which means the noodles are fried and slightly crispy. What was got was a tub of tasteless glop that was about 75% celery and onions with a cornstarch sauce, a tub of rice, and a small bag of fried noodles that looked like strips of wonton skin. The oil the wonton skins had been fried in was very old and possibly rancid. I ate ONE of them and it made my stomach queasy, and I normally have a pretty iron stomach. Seriously, this would have been called Chop Suey in any other Chinese Restaurant. I took it back to the restaurant and asked "what exactly did you give me?" (I'm a caucasian, I've GOTTEN substandard Chinese food before because of my skin color. That wasn't the case here, the food was ordered by phone.) They told me that "Rice Crispy Noodles" was the wonton skin strips and the tub of rice-- had I known they were giving me "Rice AND Crispy Noodles" that would have been a warning sign-- but the menu misled me. I told them that I was expecting actual Chow Mein (which means it's over noodles), and the owner told me that I had received what I ordered and that if I wanted something different I would have to pay for it. I left at that point, because he had other customers and I was very close to starting to yell at the guy. The food went into the disposal, it was that bad. I'm not ready to write this place off yet-- they've given me good food before-- but the crappy attitude of the owner has made me really not want to give them any of my money for a while. If I can find a replacement restaurant on or even off the island I won't be back. read more

The problem with Chin-Tex food is they have a totally different definition of the normal recipes for Chinese food. I have tried to order Chow Mein from Waco to Killeen to Galveston and NO ONE MAKES IT! They try to shove Lo Mein off on everyone which is boiled noodles. Proper Chow Mein is fried noodles, fried vegetables with some fried meat all combined. Make sure to ask if they are boiling the noodles. If thats the case stay away, they are cutting corners with noodles and no telling what else they could be doing. read more

It's a bad day when the best thing in your delivery order of Chinese food is the little crunchy fried wonton strips you put into Wonton soup. The broth in the Wonton soup ran a close second. The general tso's chicken looks like melanoma and tastes like fat, breading and a sauce that tastes like very mild BBQ sauce. Mongolian beef contains a thick soup of brown mush, with very small strips of low quality beef. But the Mongolian beef was at least edible, unlike the general tso's chicken. read more

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but I have been shockingly impressed with the take-out food. I love that they make every order fresh as it's ordered and it's not some steam table Chinese place where the food sits around for days. I am partial to the moo goo gai pan and the egg rolls. These are somewhat "boring" items to order, however they are so good and fresh tasting here. I've also tried the Moo-shu chicken and it was great. The menu is quite extensive and the service prompt. I've never had to wait more than 10-12 minutes before being able to pick up my order. The negative would be the dining room, if you could call it that. The dining area is very uncharming and sterile... it's mainly a to-go place. Also, don't let the uninviting exterior fool you either, this place is making fresh and cooked-to-order Chinese! Came for a weekend getaway from our flooded Katy home and needed some good China food to get our mojo back up and running. We drove down the street looking for a diff China joint and mistakenly stopped here... The wife and kids did not want to get out of the car as the place looks run down from the outside and most people took away... I did assure the family that the food inside is what we are after and to not judge a book by its cover. Long story short I recommend to stay away as the food was not good (we had 5 different dishes to base our rating on) yet it cost as much as a sit-down in Houston.
