It wasn't bad just not the greatest I've had on the Gulf. It was really large inside and looks like a hopping place in busy season.

We got these at LaPlayita and they were outstanding!

We called Jose's Cantina yesterday evening and asked if they had oysters on the half shell? The girl said yes we do (after she went and checked) at $12.99 per dozen. 15 later we were there being served drinks and appetizers after ordering 2 dozen oysters. The waitress then told us that they didn't have oysters on the half shell! I asked to speak with the manager and she said sorry . The past 3 times we have been here the service has gotten worse and to top it off this is the second time they told us they had them and didn't. Don't waste your time or money here. The only reason I rated them a "1" is because zero isn't a option!

We had a "I'm too exhausted from the drive down to cook" evening and decided to go to Jose's. I'm glad we did. It was nice and cool inside and it wasn't so loud we couldn't talk and hear each other. The menu was different.... But good different. They had all kinds of seafood and.... All kinds of Mexican food. So if you wanted fajitas bam or if you wanted some fried seafood bam. We started off with the fried calamari and fried seafood stuffed jalapeños. Wow absolutely delish. I didn't get a picture of our food but it was amazing as well. They also have a full bar and prices were reasonable. Our waiter kept checking on us and kept the ice water when we first got there.

The best restaurant on the beach. . One of the best.

The Avocado Shrimp Salad with a side of Gumbo is my best pick on the menu. Delicious. Happy Hour is $3 for a Magarita. It is good a spot to dine.. Services is great. Ambiance is the beachy feel with great food.

Came with a group of 12, great service and great food. Manager came several times to make sure everything was good and even gave the kids a quarter each for gumballs. The server Heather was awesome recommending food and making sure everything was ok. 10/10.

This place is very good! Stuffed shrimp is a little spicy but I like it that way. Service was great. Atmosphere is nice.

My family had a couple excellent experiences at Jose's. Our kids loved the alligator bites, and each had them twice! I had a different white fish each time, and each time had them Veracruz style, which involved the addition of a concoction of peppers, little shrimp, butter, plus more. Really good. On our first visit there was live music, which we really enjoyed. The second time we did carry out, which was also a good experience. Highly recommended!

Everything was very good. Tried twice, lunch and breakfast. Food was hot fresh and flavorful. Waitstaff was attentive and friendly. Decor is nice and fitting. Easy to find and parking is plentiful. See pictures

Service was great! Atmosphere was very laid back which is something we enjoy. Our waitress was very attentive. Highly recommend building your own platter. Jose himself stuffs the crab and it's amazing! Came around and checked on his customers. If you like mixed drinks try the sandblaster! As 1st timers here we will def be back and highly recommend

Our table also had the East Coast oysters. As expected, East Coast oysters tend to run smaller, but these seemed even smaller than usual. That said, they were still fresh and tasty. The deviled eggs were decent, but with how phenomenal some of the other dishes were, it's probably not something I'd order again. The butter served with the bread deserves a mention because it was excellent. The poke bowl was another standout, and the wontons were perfectly crispy. Service timing was a little slower than expected, but the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the meal. I went back and forth between 4 and 5 stars mainly because of the exterior surroundings. The inside is very nice, but the outside atmosphere initially makes you second guess whether you're at a higher-end steak restaurant. In the end though, the food quality won me over. The meal itself was excellent, and I'd absolutely come back.

At the entrance doors, you can see the attached bar called, "The Hideout." There are these very tacky wooden mermaid statues that made me raise an eyebrow. The outside decor seemed more fitting of a tourist spot on Seawall than a more upscale dining experience. I suppose the place is meant to be a combination of the two so in that regard, they were on theme. Just threw me off that's all. On the other hand, there are a lot of parking spots. The inside atmosphere looked a lot better. There were lots of seating with large windows that spanned half the restaurant looking out on the water which let in natural light. Service was good, staff were kind and conversational. I got the 6 oz filet ($49), mac & cheese ($15), & the broccolini with bernaise, shallots, buttered breadcrumbs, & serrano ham ($17), and the strawberry basil cocktail (I don't recall the price, perhaps ~$16). We were given complimentary popovers and butter to start, which was a pleasant break from usual bread options from other establishments. I ordered my steak medium rare but it came out medium well and SUPER FIBROUS. It took so much effort to cut into it. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it but it was incredibly bland and disappointing. My friends ordered other steak dishes cooked at the same requested temperature, including the 16 oz bone-in filet ($92), but did not have a similar experience. My friends thought I was exaggerating initially when I complained, but when they tried my steak they said even the best part of my steak did not compare to the worst bite of theirs. At that price point, I was very unsatisfied because it essentially tasted well done which isn't my preference. The price really rubbed the salt in the wound though. Per my friends, the 16 oz bone-in filet was good but not anything to write home about. The side dishes were made with good quality ingredients and well seasoned. When it comes to mac & cheese, I can be a bit of a critic but this met my basic standards. The sides were on par with other good restaurants I've went to but nothing unique or notable. The mac & cheese & broccolini serrano were not so great that I would seek out this restaurant again to eat them again though. I did enjoy their strawberry basil cocktail though; it did not taste incredibly alcohol forward. Overall, I'm glad I got to try one of the most popular spots on the island but I don't see myself returning or recommending it to others.

So now for our second visit we were in the area delivering donation cakes for an action and decided to eat dinner at the Rusty Cowboy again! They weren't to busy yet and we got right in funny to say got the same table as the last visit. Jason our waiter got got us 2 Coke Zero's in those big old mason jars while we looked over the menu. Bonnie my wife decided to just have a couple of appetizers instead of a meal and to try some of my French fries when I get them with my shrimp and fish dinner. Along with a side of coleslaw and plenty of tartar sauce! Bonnie got corn nuggets and they came out first with sides of Ranch dressing. They were hot and very good. Then they brought out her chicken wings with Buffalo sauce with just a little kick to them and lots of meat on them. She loved them, I got my 3 fried shrimp and 3 fried pieces of Catfish along with my small mason jars while we of creamy coleslaw and my extra tartar sauce. Everything was hot and so, so good. Fries were hot and salty but not greasy. And there was even a couple of hush puppies underneath the fries, very good too! We stopped just short of finishing up so we could try some of the Blackberry cobbler we missed the last time, with some vanilla ice cream. It comes in a Mason jar with a spoon. I'm sorry to say, but we didn't like the cobbler, too much cobbler and not enough Blackberries! But will still come back and try some more choices! Jason did a great job!

I can't rave enough about this place. The service was impeccable and every staff we interacted with so, so friendly and welcoming to us. Most of our table went with their many diverse seafood options and said how delicious everything was. I wasn't in a seafood mood and opted instead for the grilled chicken smothered with bell peppers and mushrooms. I was genuinely shocked by how moist and juicy the chicken was and loved the blackened cajun seasoning used on it. Everything was delicious, but the surprise star was the mango habanero dipping sauce. 10/10. Hush puppies dipped in that were amazing. Really anything... it paired with the oysters or shrimp, too. The coleslaw was the only miss, but it's complimentary. Mine was a bit frozen still and relatively flavorless. Skip it and you'll be just as happy. The desserts were all amazing. Chocolate cake and key lime pie were HUGE and great. The ... Chocolate torte... I think it was... was excellent. I'm not gluten sensitive, it was just worth trying.
