Decent diner in the Toms River area. They have all your diner standards and is in a great location. They have fresh baked goods there but I really like the cheesecake. The restaurant has the retro diner vibe which I like. The food itself is good and the service is decent. Open later in the night too. There are other and cheaper options but this place is solid.

Went to this diner about 4:30 pm on a Thursday in mid June. It was not crowded and we sat down immediately. I had a BLT and asked for crispy bacon and they did a great job. Came with a pickle, coleslaw and extra mayo on the side. My husband had scrambled eggs, toast, hash browns and fat linked sausage. All very good. This food was not greasy. It tasted fresh. Service from Pauline was fast, polite and professional as well as friendly. We will be back. It was a clean place. Old school looking diner, like the 1950's. It was big and roomy.

I asked for rare and made it clear I wanted rare I received well done. I would not recommend this business for anyone who wants their food properly cooked and received. I am extremely disappointed and there are flies everywhere flying around the sitting areas

I joked when we rode by this place it was probably a 2 star dive but we stopped anyway and after we sat down and I checked Yelp, I wasn't far off. Honestly we should have gone somewhere else; there's so many 4-5 star places to choose, go there! I ordered a Chicken Cheesesteak platter with fries and coleslaw. My pickle was covered in whitish Cole slaw juice and pushed into the inside breading and the fries on my sandwich literally took off the little cheese that was on there since it stuck to the fries as I pulled them off. The bread was extremely dry and my sandwich was 2/3 mushrooms and peppers and like 1/3 sliced chicken lunch meat. All for $10.95. The fries were good but that was about it. To top it off, there are signs on the tables and the bathroom counter advertising a possible free lunch for two (max $20) if you give them a good review on any social media site (and they will contact you via social media). So food was not good with dry bread and basically no meat (left hungry and we took home the other half of my sandwich for the dog) and trying to get people to write good reviews in exchange for possibly winning a $20 lunch? No thanks. I wouldn't come back there for lunch if it was comped.

I was in Toms River on route 37 going to go north when I decided I was hungry. Where to go for breakfast? Ah the Crystal Diner. This is a typical diner with typical diner food. I cannot write too much cuz it would be silly to rack one's wits trying to think up something original for a typical diner.......enuff said! Staff? The only UN-typical thing was my server's name: Alycyne! Yes, pronounced Allison. She was a sweety. Diner Advice: go between 2AM -8 AM. PS It's really not important what I had for breakfast.

The chicken noodle soup tasted foul--almost as though the soup pot hadn't been properly cleaned between uses. My mother ordered a fruit cup with her meal, but the first thing they brought her was French fries. When they corrected the mistake, they brought out watermelon, pineapple, and banana slices. While the fruit itself would have been fine, the banana was already beginning to brown, which made it look particularly unappetizing. Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop there. The French toast was limp and undercooked, and the French fries were hot on the outside but cold in the middle. The experience was bad enough that we noticed another customer at a table across and diagonally from us take one bite of his burger, put it down, get up, and leave without eating any more. By the time we left, we hadn't been able to eat much of anything. We ended up stopping at McDonald's on the way home because we were still hungry and needed something we could actually eat. I understand that mistakes happen in restaurants, but this was far beyond a single mistake or an off dish. Nearly everything we ordered had a problem, and the overall quality was extremely disappointing. Based on this experience, I would not return.

The hostess has this look of doom on her face every time someone comes in. Table of 3. Doom. Table of 4. Doom. Table for 2 and a car seat. Super DOOM. Can you move us. Doom. She looks like she's looking across the Cheesecake Factory for a table. And I'm looking like is there another restaurant in the back? Nope. Just doom. We were waiting for a table no big deal. I'm not an instant gratification person. I'll wait an hour for a good place. And they tried to accommodate us by sitting us at a bistro table for 2. I'm like no we'll wait and they're like everyone just sat down you're gonna have to wait a long time and my husband was like OK. This is fine so I just went along with that. First thing you need to fix that table it is wobbly flip it over grab a screwdriver and make it not wobbly. Second take those tables unless you were ordered by a fire marshal to only have that size throw them in the garbage and put four regular tables there. Not round. Not itty-bitty. Four tables for four people it would certainly alleviate the face of doom. No one might wonder God why are you going on and on about the tables well for three people three breakfasts I waited for my food for over an hour so I paid attention to every thing that was around me in the itty-bitty teeny tiny restaurant. The bacon was mushy. I don't know if it was raw, but it was mushy. The parts that were cooked to my liking were really good, but I didn't want to eat it because I just kept thinking is this raw? My last little issue is all the little charges on the bill. I don't expect food to be cheap. I don't expect breakfast to be cheap either. I am realistic. I know that when I go out to eat likely I'm spending a minimum of $100. One of the meals we ordered was steak and eggs so I definitely knew we were spending over $100. However. Charging $.20 for cream for coffee is such a stupid business decision. That stuff gets you one star reviews, and makes old people really mad. Work it into the price of the coffee. The girl asked me what kind of toast I wanted, pumpernickel, some sort of grain bread or I can't remember what the third one was. Why are you charging me for toast? It's supposed to come with my food. Was the pumpernickel toast more money? Why didn't you say that? Why do I have to scour the menu for all these little hidden charges? It's stupid you need to fix that. Overall, I think the place is good, but it certainly needs some tweaking the people running around the dining room with the exception of the girl who is our waitress with the braids just looks lost. Some people got an explanation of the menu. Some people didn't some people look like they come there 100 times a month. And I'm sure there's a reason for that. The food wasn't bad but for a first time it was also my last time cause I don't mind spending $100 on food and sitting down to eat, but it needs to be better then just good and it missed the mark. But for the love of god get rid of those stupid small middle tables they're not even big enough for 2 people. I do wish you nothing but success though. Change the tables and retrain doom face and I'll make it 5 stars.
