I moved away from NJ getting on about 10 years ago, but the food is always a good reason for me to fly back for a couple of days, and stopped by JB's on my last visit home, and wow I am glad that I did. Staff was friendly and attentive, the "Jersey Diner Vibe" was in full swing, but the breakfast is what really stood out - all of our entrees were spot on, and the pork roll and scrapple were absolutely perfect. It's not fine dining, and it's not supposed to be. New Jerseyans don't realize how lucky they have it with a diner on every corner; it's one of the main things I miss (that, good Italian food, and Wawa). JB's was a great experience, and I will be back the next time I head back east. read more

Stopped in around 8pm for a quick last minute dinner. It was my first time eating here and was very happy I went. We were quickly seated and attended to by a lovely waitress named Pam. The menu was extensive, but I settled on an Italian grilled chicken sandwich deluxe and my fiance ordered a Turkey Rueben. The food was very tasty and had a good flavor. Hubs and I decided to give this place a try and were immediately seated after arriving. Hubs ordered Veggie omelet with home fries and whole wheat toast. The omelette comes with peppers, onion, broccoli, mushroom and tomatoes. This order has never disappointed him. Omelette is standard diner omelette. It was a little overcooked and flat but still did the trick. Potatoes were nice and golden brown with onions ( which is very important ) and also satisfying. I ordered a short stack of blueberry pancakes and thought that this was nice and fluffy. I've been wanting to come back here for a while but the traffic outside of this place scares me into coming. It's not bad entering into the parking lot, but it's a nightmare trying to exit. You have to close your eyes and hope for the best. LOL. Service was quick and friendly. Unfortunately, this one was a miss. - worst meatloaf I have ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth. - my mushroom burger lacked flavor, even the ketchup couldn't save it. - I'm pretty sure my hot chocolate came from Swiss Miss. - the chocolate egg cream needed more seltzer. On the bright side, these following items were good. - my pickle & coleslaw that came with my mushroom burger. - the plain baked potato that came with the meatloaf. I knew we were going to have a terrible experience when it took 10 minutes just to get a menu. Let me get right to the point. My wife ordered a steak dinner, grits & an avocado. She did not receive her steak. The Russian waitress forgot to order it. I ordered a cheeseburger. She kept asking me what else do i want with it. I said nothing else, just a cheeseburger. She then questioned me by asking "just the bread, cheese & the burger"?? Crazy. I then had to go to the counter to get a soda refill because we were being ignored. My wife had to ask them to come over to bring my son some condiments he should have gotten for his order from the beginning. They didn't even come over to refill coffee. Not once. Our family decided to dine this morning at JB's! It was our first time and I will say it was fantastic. Food: The food was great. Generous portion sizes and decent pricing. They also offer a kids menu which is great for the kids. Service: Overall Service was excellent. We were in and out within an hour. Staff was very prompt and attentive. Everyone who sat down got served immediately. I absolutely loved how as soon as customers would leave they had bus boys cleaning and SANITIZING each and every table. You don't see that too often and as a mom I appreciate how clean it was. They also offer sanitizers at each table. Ambiance: The inside is very retro and cute. Hey! Was in there at around 2:30, today with my elderly parents. I go twice a week with my boyfriend. The waitress served my dads sandwich with no fries, (nbd) but told him it was extra if he wanted them. Would've been great to hear, "if you'd like some no problem I'll be right back" The bill came and he was charged for them. Left a great tip even though we didn't have flatware or a clean table, and that she clearly heckled us with her buddies three feet away for the entire meal, which my even my hard of hearing elderly parents noticed. Mentioned it to the cashier, to appease my 75 year old dad, whom I admit is hard of hearing. She didn't want to adjust our bill for 3$, I had to point out in a menu that he was overcharged in contrast to the bill. I was embarrassed as hell. I expected a "oh im sorry, not a problem !" Because like I said, it's 3$ and I eat here weekly. I'll never bring my folks here again, or at least just ask for a different waitress, the ones with experience are great. Seemed to be overpriced for what you get. The best part is when I asked a simple question: "Instead of potatoes with my omelet, can you please give me grilled tomatoes and also skip the toast." So ultimately - Just 4 tomato slices and NO potatoes and No toast. The waitress came back and said , I am sorry, we cannot do that. The menu says NO SUBSTITUTIONS. She then said, for $3.00 we can give you the tomatoes. I then asked "This is with me ALSO getting potatoes and toast". The answer was yes. So I just paid the $3.00 and ended up throwing away the toast and potatoes. It made no sense and this was the only diner to ever do this. The diner was absolutely eye-catching, unique, and felt authentically vintage. The food was great as well. Decent prices and good portions. What ruined the entire atmosphere was the service. The staff consisted of young women who had attitudes of not wanting to be there working and were pretty dismissive. The waitress never checked on us, as she was too busy sitting in a booth with the hostess on their phones. I had a stuffed burger which was very good but the bread was hard on one side soft on other , almost stale like - got tots which were very greasy !! Impressed upon walking in. Bright, clean with fast service! I ordered a bacon cheeseburger for dinner. It was really good! The meat was fresh and cooked just as I asked. The bun was flavorful and fresh. Even the bacon wasn't greasy and cooked just the way I like it. I was in the mood for soup so they had Manhattan clam chowder. Definitely above average and had a nice kick to it. Had the entire bowl. We also ordered a corn beef on rye sandwich. Cooked nicely and very tasty. This diner is a little gem located in Farmingdale, NJ. In my opinion, it may be one of the best diners in the state. The food is always fresh and delicious. The menu lists many items. It is a 50's-style/retro-like atmosphere (both inside and outside), with music and decor that makes the dining experience so much fun! Like boiled potatoes thrown on the grill. So go for fries instead. But the first oet I got went right back when the salt, pepper, and jelly packs were thrown on my llate. I called over the waitress and said are you kidding, who does that? She said because of Covid that is how they do it here.
