She said "but you don't have that much to clean up" ...Gel polish is extremely uneven, not smooth at all, with "legs" and bubbles. Up charge you, I was told one price while sitting and then told another when I got to the counter, They charged an Extra $30 for gel on toes, So $35 or regular $65 for gel,,, rushed my nails and had two people working on me at one time, Nails were uneven not bugged out enough,, I can admit they were very polite and nice but I will not be going there again no way!!! read more

Three days after getting my nails done the top coat was gone and a nail had broken. It was clear that the technician was inexperienced in dip. She glued her fingers to mine and her own together a number of times and did not shape the nails. They also were very thick and painful. I came back the next day when the top coat had chipped off and they were unwilling to give me a refund. They did offer to re-do my nails, but I did not trust them to do a better job. I went with my friend because she needed to get her nails done for her engagement photo shoot. I needed a pedicure, so she looked up a place with great reviews, and made the appointments for us. My friend came in with an inspiration photo and wanted a gel manicure. The inspiration photo featured a grey/taupe shade, a silver glitter nail, and a whiteish nail. They said they could do it. My friend was wearing regular nail polish in a deep purple burgundy. Her nail tech didn't remove all the polish, didn't soak her nails in a dish. I heard my friend say something several times and point to her nail. Meanwhile, this was the fastest pedicure I ever had. The cuticles were barely trimmed and so gently pushed back that I don't think it did anything. She barely buffed my nails in fact she missed my toe several times; it was almost as if she was pretending to buff them. She massaged my legs and feet quickly, and she even took a break to check her texts with her hands covered in lotion. I don't even remember if she used a base coat. She was so fast, I don't even know if she did a second coat on all my nails. She got a decent amount on my cuticles and she tried to remove what she could with her nail. No time was given to let the nails dry before she went in immediately with the top coat and I watched- she decided to skip the sides of my nails and only applied top coat to the middle! There was a visible line of missing top coat, so I figured I would just do it myself when I got home. We got in the car and saw my friend had gel polish all over her cuticles, her old polish is still there and visible, and her skin was stuck to her nails. We know how businesses are struggling and that we're in the time of a pandemic, so both of us were kind and polite and didn't say anything. I wish we did. We paid and tipped, got out of there, and agreed that we will never return. For the quality of work and time spent- they were pretty pricey- $35 for the regular pedicure and $45 for a gel manicure- and this is not a luxury spa environment. I tipped $10 for my lousy pedicure and my friend tipped $15 for her "gel manicure". When I got home, I was going to finish the top coat, and it just looks terrible upon closer inspection. There are chunks out of the side where I guess she tried to remove the polish from my cuticles. I can confidently say we will not return, and this may be one of the worst pedicures I've ever gotten. I CANNOT believe they let my friend walk out of there with her nails looking the way they did. While writing this, I decided I cannot NOT say something. I called and they told us to come in so they can look at it and they'll fix it, but neither of us feel comfortable to go in. read more

I have been having a very hard time finding a reliable nail salon since moving to the area. I decided on Crystal Nails last weekend and I am very glad I did. I received a pedi and a gel refill. The color selection is great! So many pretty colors to choose from. I originally chose a Chrome color which would have cost me an additional $15. instead of making me pay extra, they found a similar normal gel color so I could save the money. Most salons that I have been to try to get every last dollar they can out of their customers. All 20 of my nails look great! The pedicure was one of the most relaxing I've ever gotten. Everyone working in this salon was very friendly :) I think this will be my new go-to salon read more

This review is based completely on my attempt to get an appointment. I never actually made it to the business so can't comment on the service or quality of product. I tried calling to make an appointment or at least see if there was any availability for a manicure in the next three hours. A heavily accented woman answered the phone, I said that I wanted to see about getting an appointment for a manicure, and she asked me to hold a minute. I did. And then I don't know if it was the same woman or someone else but she asked again how she could help me. I explained that I was looking to get a manicure that evening. I was asked to hold again. A third person got on the line and this time asked, "who's calling?" Never mind. I got my nails done elsewhere. read more

I'm not one who generally is at a loss for words; I enjoy talking. However, my experience at Crystal Nail & Spa in Bala Cynwyd, PA floored me. Things started off very positive, I was greeted by a very friendly woman named Rebekah who assisted me with picking a color and immediately got my seated. There were several employees who were very busy but seemed happy regardless. Next to me sat a woman who was probably in her early 50s. She shared with me that she was from out of town and just needed some time to herself. She didn't speak much, but she seemed pleasant enough. On the other side of her sat an older white gentleman named Steve, he seemed to be a regular, all the employees knew him (they kept referring to him by name). Steve was a grouchy older man; wearing tattered jeans, stained white t-shirt, and an old leather jacket and had a scruffy face - his appearance didn't scream Main Line. But, as we learned when we were children, appearance means nothing, it what's on the inside that counts. That was true with this man; his insides SUCK. More about him in a minute. Back to my nails, because that why I went in the first place. Rebekah got started, I informed her that I needed them shorted and cleaned up, they had become bit out of control. I told her it was really important that she shape them nice because I'm getting married in a few weeks. Her response was excitement and she made me feel special; as did the other women in the shop, including the woman who sat next to me. Conversation was minimal, which never bothers me because I go to turn off and relax - people talk to me all day. This is where things started to get interesting. It was time for the women next to me to pay, she pulls out $20 from her wallet and when she does Steve, the gentleman next to her, said: "While you're flashing all that cash around, you should pay for me." While people joke like that often, this man would not let it go, you could tell by her responses she was getting uncomfortable, but she brushed him off. I thought maybe he was done, but he continued to sit there and babble out loud. No one was responding, he was complaining about anything and everything hoping for a response, which clearly no one was going to give him. At this point it's clear that he was upset. As time passed both the woman next to me and Steve ended up across from each other at the drying station. He sounds like he was trying to whisper to her, but she wasn't answering. He gets a bit louder - similar to his prior behavior while he was getting a manicure. He says, "that girl should probably get a few more tattoos, it will help to build on her horrible appearance." I know he's talking about me, but I'm trying really hard to maintain my Zen, this was supposed to be my lunch break. I'm not sure if that woman ever said anything, based on her prior actions I'm going to assume she didn't. He then proceeds to say: "I'm not sure who would ever marry her, with all those tattoos and she's fat." At this point the level of rage inside me is high and I'm sure you could see the flames burning in my eye. I look Rebekah who smiles at me very awkwardly and says, "he's a long-time customer," and leaves it at that. The woman across from him gets up and walks away, I'm not even sure her nails were even dry, but I'm certain she had enough of his shit, I know I sure did. As she walks out he yells "see ya later, fat ass!" This guy clearly is trying me today, but something tells me this behavior is how he is. Which is completely unacceptable. So, while my nails look flawless and I'm very impressed with their work, I will never return to this salon. It's not because I fear running into Steve, I'd actually like to see him again. because I'd love a second chance to give him a piece of my mind - with a more level head of course. I bit my tongue and I took the abuse because I refused to stoop to his level, I will not be the scum that he It is because the women (and men) who worked there did NOTHING to stop him. It's clear that his weekly $20 is far more valuable to them then the treatment of their other customers. So please, you shouldn't go there either. They allowed this old while male to go on with his white privilege and continue to put down other human beings because he doesn't approve or agree with them because they are different than he. I refuse to support a company that supports hate - you should too. read more

Plus extra attention to cleanliness with special single-use plastic liners for the pedicure tubs and single-use tools. What hasn't changed? Really great manicures that last over two weeks and a very friendly staff. read more

If i could get all of Philadelphia to get their nails done here, I would. I stumbled across this spot because I worked in Bala and needed to get a fill. Not only was Sue and the staff there pleasant they were personable, gave me a free lotion as a gift for the holidays (first started to see them right after Christmas 2018) and did an amazing job. My gel fills last 3 weeks, don't crack and don't falter. They can sculpt, they can hand file, their loofah pedicure is amazing and even though I fell off the face of the earth and haven't had time with work to get my nails done, they remember me when I call. I love the team there and how sweet and efficient everyone is. 1000000% recommend them to anyone looking for personable, kind, honest, and talented people to do your nails. Went in for the first time today. The ladies were super nice and Maria did a wonderful job shaping and painting my nails. They had a really cool selection of modern gel colors and the definitely had a lot of dedicated returning clientele. The manager (I think her name was Young) was super sweet and a very lovely caring woman. Would 100% recommend to a friend. Didn't try this but they had a variety of other services - massages, facials, eyelash extensions, semi-permanent makeup, specials on mani/pedis. I can't believe it has taken me this long to write this review. I have been going to Crystal nails for almost 13 years and I have moved three times during that period but still managed to make time to go for my regular appointment. The place is spotless and they honor their appointments, not to mention how particular and perfectionist the staff are. I tried other places that are closer to me but was unhappy with the results. I am giving a two because they were very nice. But their service was actually terrible. I am surprised with costs that high how bad it was. I also think they have a lot of "regulars" and give them better treatment. Wouldn't you go out of your way for a new customer in hopes to make their experience wonderful they come back? My roommate and I decided to try this place since it's closer that the one I used to go to regularly. Since this place got good reviews, we were excited to try it. I am now so thoroughly disappointed. I have acrylics, and I have no desire for gel (it doesn't last for me). I told them I wanted a fill and a pedicure. They didn't tell me until they had already filed and sanded my nails that they don't do acrylic, only calcium gel. They just kept stating the benefits of this calcium gel, ignoring my request for acrylic. They eventually convinced me to get the gel--which they placed OVER my acrylic. I wanted regular polish (because that's what I get with my acrylic) and they didn't tell me that 1) I should get gel with the calcium gel and that 2) gel polish wouldn't be an extra charge. It's only been three days, and the polish is already chipping. It also feels disgusting--not smooth at all. There are bumps every where in the paint. I am worried about damage to my nails due to the gel being placed over my acrylic. Also, they did not shape my nails the way I wanted them shaped. It cost me THREE times what I normally pay to get my nails done, and I am so dissatisfied. I seriously want to cry. The staff was friendly, but they were super pushy and literally in my face while I was trying to pick a color. I will now have to pay to get all my nails removed and start from scratch. I will never go here again. UPDATE: The day after I posted my original review, Young contacted me via telephone about my concerns. She called me twice and offered to redo my nails. I went in today and had them remove the gel and acrylic and got a gel manicure over my natural nails. Much better now. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! I'm from Virginia but last weekend my boyfriend and I went to PA to celebrate his mother's birthday. I didn't have time to get my nails done before I left so I looked on Yelp and I found this place that was half a block from were we had brunch. I went in and asked for a manicure. Nobody spoke enough English, and believe me, I don't like to be critical of that because English is not my first language either, but it was very hard to understand what they were telling me. Anyway, after choosing the color I wanted by pointing at my toe nails, they proceeded to do the manicure. It was a disaster! I told the lady I wanted to cut them a little bit because one of them broke and I wanted them a little more even; well, she cut them so short they were hard to file. I told her I wanted a square shape, she left them round. When she massaged my hands with the lotion I thought she was going to break one of my fingers; and the worst was that she didn't even cut my cuticles all around, just on the sides! (?). At last, when she got to polish them, she didn't shake the nail polish and you could tell it was too liquid and kind of transparent. She left all kinds of streaks and the final job looked horrible! If I had been at home, I would have taking it all out and done it again myself! I didn't complain because I don't have the personality for that, and I believe the pen is mightier than the sword! I am SO glad I finally came to Crystal Nail & Spa! I needed a reliable manicurist and salon here in the Philly area since the presentation of my nails could potentially affect my ability to get booked. Finding a solid nail salon, let alone manicurist you can genuinely connect with can feel like a struggle, and I had more or less given up on my search after a series of flat-out bad or less than stellar manicures elsewhere in the city. Today changed everything. I called the salon ahead of time to see if they could take me since it was late on a rainy post-holiday Saturday evening, and after confirming that they had time for my manicure, I was jovially invited to come in. Upon my arrival 15 minutes later I was greeted warmly with both eye contact and greetings by every single person who worked there. Sue invited me to her station after showing me their wide selection of colors, and I found myself quickly feeling at home as she worked precisely, thoroughly and carefully to give me a picture perfect manicure. My hands are camera ready, and I cannot wait to come back and try their spa pedicures, facials and waxing treatments. I will be bringing my friends and family, too!!! read more

If I could give this place 1 star, I would. It is overpriced, and they do a horrible job. I just went for a french manicure, and specifically asked them to keep my nails long. I came in with long nails, hadn't cut them in a month, and left with extremely short nails. I complained and they said that's how french manicures look. When I explained that I specifically had asked for my nails to be kept long, the owner finally asked if I wanted to get my $18 back and pay $60 for tips. Beyond absurd! So, in the end, I left with short nails, plus lots of white nail polish all over my fingers because the manicurist wiped the extra errant polish back onto my fingers and left it there. read more

This is my third time coming to crystal nails. I'm actually currently in the pedicure chair as I type. I'm from New York and moved here a couple of months ago and have been looking for "my nail place." After a few attempts elsewhere, I didn't find it until I walked into Crystal's. Every time I walk in, all the technicians greet me with big smiles and hello's. They are always so comforting and really know how to make you feel welcomed and relaxed. So far I have received 2 gel manicures and 1 pedicure and they have done a great job with all. I also noticed they treat ALL their customers like this. Such a great culture they have going on here. I spent a long time picking a nail salon since this was supposed to be my first time getting acrylics since high school. I went in and asked for an acrylic set, they said they only had gel, which was fine. The manager was very friendly and there was a good color selection. The woman who did my nails started and didn't add any length. I asked multiple times about the extensions I asked for and she didn't seem to understand. After asking about six times she finally understood and the manager told me it was too late to give me what I actually asked for, and said she assumed I didn't want extensions since my nails were long, which they weren't anymore. The gel is bumpy and my nails are extremely short. She painted my nails then kind of slapped some cuticle oil on and massaged my hands for maybe thirty seconds tops. So basically I paid $45 for a subpar gel manicure. Save your money. I want to give a better review because the manager was very kind, but it was supposed to be a nice treat for myself and I left hating my nails with a much lighter wallet. read more
