I really want to love this place and make them my go-to spot. The first time I went was perfectly good if not meticulous. However, the last time I went the woman who did my manicure was obviously still in training, cut me twice, and said my nails were "so small" it was hard to do a proper manicure (they're normal nails). One of the fingers she cut got inflamed and a little infected; thankfully it healed on its own. I didn't say anything to her at the time because what was I going to do? Damage was already done. One of the staff quietly mentioned to me that they have been trying to hire more people for months and are very understaffed, so everyone is rushing. I feel bad for the business, which is very promising, and I know everyone had a hard time during COVID, but I can't go back somewhere that cut my hands twice. read more

I tried this salon because it looked nice in the pictures and had good reviews but mostly because it was close by. I wish I hadn't. My dip powder manicure took 90 minutes and chipped on Sunday....I had them done on Friday. I've never had dip powder even chip before so I'll be returning tomorrow to ask for a refund. Many reviews mention that Gina is particularly good, and I did not have her, so maybe it's hit or miss. The salon is nice inside, and I appreciate that they don't have any TVs, just peaceful music. There are many colors to choose from in nail polish and a decent selection of powder. It was busy when I was there (around 4pm on a Friday) and I saw a few people turned away because they didn't have an appointment and didn't want to wait. There is a second location in Bryn Mawr so they've had success; however, I'll stick with my tried and true manicure at a different salon. read more

I feel like I've already written this review, because I've been raving about Sophia to all my friends since I was there yesterday afternoon. This place is FANTASTIC. First of all, I got a mani/pedi and it is beautiful. I'm embarrassed to say, I forget the name of the woman who provided the services (because haziness seems to be my current state during these insane times), but she was talented and super nice. Prior to arriving, I was sent a form to fill out, informing me of Sophia's Covid 19 safety practices, asking for contact tracing info for me, and asking questions to determine that I have been following smart safety practices in my life. Upon arriving, masked of course, I had my temperature taken and was given hand sanitizer to use. The place was absolutely spotless and sanitized. During the manicure portion of the appointment, there was a plastic shield between the manicurist and me, in addition to both of us wearing masks. I have been very careful during this epidemic and I have to say, this appointment felt safer even than outdoor dining. And even with all the precautions, the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. First manicure / pedicure since spring! I chose this place because they had updated their COVID precautions here on Yelp. It was excellent - Hot stone, exfoliating, massage and very precise nail clean up and polish. Every employee had masks on, plexiglass shields, sealed packs of every item were open in front of me, plastic liners on all tubs and bowls, and they took my temp and gave me hand sanitizer when I walked in. I live in Bala Cynwyd and desperately needed a pedicure. I've only lived here two years, and I've tried other nail salons in the area. Because I wasn't impressed with the other places, I was attempting to postpone this until I had time to set aside to go back to my old nail salon in Delco. I couldn't put it off any longer; the pads of my toes and my heels were cracking, despite my best, at-home efforts. Also, my polish was coming off, and let's be honest, I did not feel like dealing with that. I walked in at 1pm on a Wednesday of a holiday week. I asked if they had time for a spa pedicure, and after some talking it over, they said they would be fine. After around 5 minutes, the woman who started my pedicure handed it off to Sarah (maybe she was on break/lunch?) when Sarah came back in the work area. Sarah was lovely. She was quiet but made nice small talk when I asked questions. I don't mind when nail techs don't talk right away or constantly. I like to unwind and relax and play on my phone, and I can't always hear the person, so I'm happiest just sitting there quietly. Anyway, Sarah was incredibly attentive. I didn't feel like I needed to explain the problem areas; she found them on her own and worked hard at fixing them. I suppose this could also mean that the problem areas on my feet are grossly obvious, but I'd like to think Sarah knew what she was doing because she's a skilled professional. Either way, I didn't point anything out; I did tell her thank you a lot so that it was obvious that I saw her efforts and wanted her to know that I appreciated it. I like spa pedicures for the massage that often accompanies them. This particular spa pedicure raised the bar for anything I get in the future. First, I didn't feel like they were rushing me through because, yes, there was a steady stream of walk-ins and appointments and phone calls. Apparently, they were slammed for 1pm on a Wednesday -- possibly from the holiday -- which Sarah said was unusual for a mid-week afternoon. She said evenings and weekends get busy, which I'm stating just as a call-ahead warning for folks like me that tend to wander in after realizing their feet look nasty. Anyway, back to the spa pedicure. Second, Sarah legit used all the products in the right order (don't ask, but yes, I've had things skipped or applied oddly). They smelled like lavender and mint, the option I requested, and post-pedicure, my skin feels incredible. She also gave me a quality massage on my legs and feet, that both resembled an actual massage and lasted a good 10 minutes. During this, there was a hot towel on whatever part of my body wasn't being rubbed. Last, and this may be part of their regular pedicure but since this was my first time I can't say, she applied hot wax or oil or something similar to my heels while she painted my toes. I had no idea this was a thing, and it felt amazing. Truly, at that point, it could have been melted fat, and I would have loved it because I was so relaxed and it was such a nice touch. While the polish was drying, I received a simple massage. So, if you're still reading, I salute you. All I have left to comment on was the immaculate nature of the salon. The surfaces were clean, the tools were sanitized, and the place was bright. I wouldn't eat off the floor or anything, but I felt safe putting my feet in the basin and allowing Sarah to work on them. I'll definitely be back. After all that, I received some sort of discount and only paid $39 for the spa pedicure (listed as $49). Maybe because it got busy, maybe because it was a mid-week promotion, maybe the holiday or the fact that I'm a new customer. Who knows. All I know is that I'm not going anywhere else. read more

Found my new nail place! The ladies were extremely nice and welcoming, I'm a bit wary when I get dip powder on my nails because every place does it differently, but this was lovely! I had Gina, and she was so sweet and did a great job. My nails were 5 weeks out on tips and powder and looking awful, I wanted to go cleaner and neater, and she did just that. While you wait for your nails to dry they even massage your back/shoulders! Nice and clean inside and they don't try to push you into paying for any extra services. Went here for the first time to get SNS dip nails. Thought everything was good until less than a week goes bye and two of my nails are cracking and chipping already.
