Met for a "first date" at the Crystal. We'd already decided we were gonna eat there, and coincidentally, the Watertown Daily Times did a big, front-page article on the place today. You can definitely sense the history of the establishment when you walk through the door. The atmosphere is great, but the food is mediocre. My salmon was cold and my date said the seafood platter batter was "a little hard." They were out of scallops and had to substitute extra shrimp for him. The cole slaw was very good. Service was pretty fast. Our waitress never told us her name. The place had a fair share of customers for a Sunday night, but it wasn't crazy-busy. Not sure if I'd recommend it to a friend or not. read more

Pretty good. My husband and I gave it a try for lunch one day and actually enjoyed it pretty well. I had a chicken salad sandwich and it was very good. Both of us enjoyed a nice, cold beer with our lunches and were very pleased by the both the service and the prices. Definitely a good casual eats spot. read more

We were looking for a place to have breakfast and came upon Crystal's restaurant in the heart of downtown Watertown N.Y. Fell in love with the atmosphere. The tin ceiling , tile floors , the woodwork , oh yes and the front door!. What a nice step back into time! { love the history behind it} Our food came quickly and our server was very pleasant. I've been all over Watertown to eat (h2otown isn't very big) and Sackets Harbor is right around the corner which has fancier restaurants; however the atmosphere sets it apart from everywhere else in Watertown for eats. There are some good eats like Bistro and in the Paddock. there's a Thai rest. and Greek food. This place is inexpensive, food quality is pretty good (just as good as Shorties diner which is much more expensive) and the Tom & Jerry during Christmastime is a must try! Stopped off here while travelling through from Canada and we were so glad we did! Incredible value for home cooked style meals . First off, I absolutely love the location and the building itself. The owners did a great job keeping the historical factor. It's really like stepping back in time. The waitress that we had was great and did everything she could to make sure we had a good experience. The food was pretty boring, nothing spectacular. There was a lot of grease in the food, which my family isn't really used to. They seem to fry about everything. I would try it again though, maybe for lunch. The bathroom is a nightmare. It's down a very steep and narrow flight of stairs, you literally feel as if you would fall if you breathed wrong. I was scared to death to carry my son down them while holding my daughters hand. They should really do something about that, it's just not safe. read more

Tonight was our first time at this restaurant. Sadly I've driven past it a million times and wasn't sure what it would be like. Well after dining here I can tell you I will go back again. It is very much set in a different time and although some might want it to be updated I loved the small town feel of the restaurant. The service was wonderful and our waitress was super nice. Now here's what makes this place 5 star, the food was so good and the prices were extremely reasonable. I had the turkey dinner, which included two sides and stuffing for $8. I couldn't even finish all the food on my plate but it was so good. The turkey is roasted fresh every day and you could absolutely tell. My husband had the seafood combo and the tuna melt (he can eat). The seafood combo was gone before I could have a bite and the one small bite I got of the tuna melt was delicious. It's hard to nail two different types of food but they did it. If your looking for home cooked style food that's yummy than you must stop by. read more
