This is the only place I've taken my board to get tuned up and waxed. They offer great prices (especially if you print off their online coupon) and good services. If you are renting anything be sure to get in early - they get super busy especially around the holidays. Unfortunately I have to give a 4 star rating after having some bad customer service. I took in my board and was told that it would be ready for pick up by the end of the day on the day that I needed it. I called on the day I was told it would be ready only to find out that I would have to pick it up the next morning. Crystal Ski Shop is the best place in Colorado for ski service and rentals. My wife and I recently went in for a simple tune up, but the staff spent extra time with us teaching us about what exactly we were paying for, how and why we could save money. They educated us on safety when it comes to ski parts, the best/worst technical gear and more. We were blown away by how knowledgeable and caring the staff was. We ended up buying more than we originally came in for because we were well informed and the prices were so good. I love Crystal Ski Shop and will always make it my go to place. read more

Wow, this place is a mess. Last weekend they could not find my reservation. I showed up and they had a reservation for one of my kids but nothing for the other. Now I call up to double check that everything is OK for this weekend and the guy on the phone tells me that there is no reservation! I told him I filled out two cards for both kids, and then he proceeds to tell me "are you sure you did because we generally only have one card." OK, you're right, I just made all that up....sheesh. I'm NEVER going back here again. The place has no computer and the "reservation" system is a bunch of people running around with writing things down on paper. I feel like I'm on a Seinfeld episode....."you know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation and that's really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. I've had great experiences renting from Crystal in the past. I've rented from them several times and they have always been helpful and nice to interact with. However, I had such an unpleasant experience with one employee the last time I rented from them that I will likely be bringing my business to other ski shops in the future. My sister and I visited the shop in the early afternoon on a Friday a couple of weeks ago when we were the only people in the store. I asked to rent boots and have my bindings adjusted to the boots. The employee who was there was incredibly disrespectful, rude, and unhelpful. I had asked to try on two boot sizes because I felt that I needed bigger boots than the ones I was currently using. The employee only brought me the size that my skis were currently fit to. I said that my toes were touching the front of the boots, and he responded condescendingly that my toes should be touching the front when I stood up straight. I corrected him that my toes were touching the front even when my knees were bent, and I had to firmly ask for the bigger size before he would bring me boots in that size. Next, the employee decided that he didn't want to adjust the bindings. Instead, he halfheartedly told me in 10 seconds how I could do it myself. Not feeling comfortable with this, I asked him if there were other places that might be able to adjust the bindings that day. He didn't respond to my question, but instead said that Crystal didn't assume liability. I ended up renting the boots from Crystal because I wasn't sure that I would find a place to adjust my bindings that day and had already spent the time there. Ultimately, though, I took my skis to Christy Sports. They were able to adjust my bindings in about 15 minutes and were courteous and polite. I understand that having the bindings adjusted might not have been possible that day at Crystal, but there were many other, more respectful ways that this employee could have expressed that to me. I was intentionally polite with this person, but left feeling very disrespected. I did not deserve to be treated this way. read more

The folks at Crystal are, hands down, the best in Boulder when it comes to ski rentals and service. They want to get you out in the mountains as much as you want to go, and it shows. They have, a couple times, done some maintenance on my skis and insisted that it didn't take long enough for them to charge me for it, even though at another shop it could have easily cost $10 or $20 for the same thing. Their rental fleet is great (as are the prices), and I always take folks visiting from out of town to Crystal if they need to rent gear. They stock alpine, cross-country, and backcountry gear (including avalanche safety equipment). I can't recommend this shop enough--if you have any skiing needs, these are the people to see. read more

Really top notch service. Took in a couple of my skis for some remounts and got them back by the end of the week. Both of the mounts were great but one of them was a victim of poor communication and wasn't mounted where I wanted it. Came back in after I realized this to see if they could redo it and they were very apologetic for the screw up and are remounting them at the right spot for free. They even threw in a free tune! Very very happy with my experience at this shop. The guys know what they are talking about and are extremely friendly. read more

Great old school shop in Boulder. I've been getting my ski gear and tunes from larger shops and found them impersonal recently so tried Crystal. The staff offered to hold my gear for two weeks until their Fall sale started in order to save me a bunch of money on ski tuning. Won't go anywhere else from now on. read more

Growing up in Colorado it's common to come from a skiing family-and we have been coming here forever. Throughout my childhood my skis were serviced here and now that I am adult I continue to go to Crystal. They have the least expensive binding adjustment/checks and same goes with tuning- all while doing the best quality work each and every time. The people who work here are always in a good mood and go above and beyond with customer service which is EVERYTHING to me. They are honest about times and prices and I have never been given false or spiffed-up information. As a Boulder native its refreshing to deal with nice, cool people who aren't trying to get you out the door and think you need to spend money simply because their store is located within the city limits (Boulder has changed in this way over the years unfortunately.) They are passionate about riding and snow and just want to please! Awesome selection of quality socks too....and they carry the cool lens cloths with different resort maps- fun to collect :) They are by FAR the best ski shop I have come across in the entire state when it comes to service, price, and employees. I have never obtained rentals personally but when friends/family come to town they always deliver the same great experience I get with my tuning etc. read more
