I had the pleasure of visiting this small out-of-the-way place last night. Some friends I haven't seen in close to a decade wanted to catch up and we decided to give this spot a try. Fantastic choice! The menu is very "urban hipster" vibes. Plenty of burgers, lots of fun appetizers, charcuterie, one of my friends has some dietary restrictions and they were easily able to accommodate her needs which made us all very happy. This spot has a great bar in the front, and a smaller bar in the rear of the place. Outdoor seating as well as covered seating. Plenty of shade as well which will serve their patrons nicely in the coming Texas summer months. This is also a dog friendly dining spot, plenty of people were there with some amazing canine companions (always ask before you pet a strangers pup, it's just polite and courteous. Almost no one says No!). Assuming you don't have a dog allergy, this will hopefully be a feature. There is a relatively new apartment complex across the street and I get the feeling a lot of the people stopping in were regulars who bring in their dogs during walkies and grab a bite before heading back home, but that is just pure conjecture on my part. Either way, it was a fun inviting atmosphere. The music was nice, not too loud for my old man ears to enjoy but still present enough to be part of the evening without being intrusive. Staff was very nice, helpful, friendly, etc. Everything one would expect from a fine Texas eatery. Lots of spicier options on the menu if you're into that, but by no means anything overpowering. My guess is the owner has stock in some jalapeno growers farm somewhere and the food is all the better for it! If you're in the area already or if you're thinking of branching out for a nice new burger spot, this place is great and I will be returning. I live nearby so it'll likely become part of the regular rotation for us in the coming months. We are spoiled for choice in this area when it comes to good burgers being close to Grumps, close to Kincaid's, and close to Tommy's up on Camp Bowie. But this place competes on good burgers and if you're looking for a fun hangout atmosphere, you'd be hard pressed to find better. Easily recommended! Give them a try, I don't think you'll regret it! After visiting last Sunday, I followed their social media and saw they were hosting a jazz band this week. I called a girlfriend and told her I'd found a new spot: wine, charcuterie boards, and live music. Sounded like a perfect evening. When we arrived, a young employee did her best to find the hostess and get us seated. After a few minutes, she honestly seemed more flustered than we were, she apologized and offered to seat us herself. We got settled, I ordered a margarita, and then I noticed a large dog roaming around. No leash, no owner in sight. (Later found out the owner owns the bar, the regulars are very familiar with the dog) I looked down at the menu, then looked back up, and the dog was literally face-to-face with me. We got up to leave immediately. A dog-friendly patio? Sure. That's completely fine. But allowing a dog to freely roam throughout both the outdoor patio and the covered upstairs area is baffling to me. (My last visit a dog was on the table, I assumed the young staff just didn't know how to approach the situation, but tonight shows this is how Hideaway operates day in and day out) When I explained my concern to the waitress, she said she understood and asked me to close out my tab for the one margarita I had just ordered and hadn't touched. No ma'am. I'd been there less than ten minutes, and for me, this crossed a line. Clearly, some guests enjoyed it. I saw people petting the dog and calling it over. Different preferences, and that's their choice. But mine is different. I won't be back, and if I recommend this place to anyone, it will come with a warning: dogs aren't just allowed here- they appear to have free rein of the space, whether that's on tabletops, near your food, or directly in your personal space, whether you want that interaction or not. read more

The ambiance is relaxed, making it a nice place to unwind. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, so plan for that if you're visiting during a busy time. Service was on the slower side, and unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the deluxe chicken sandwich--it was overcooked and didn't live up to expectations. Overall, the wine selection and charcuterie concept are highlights, but the food and service could use some improvement. read more

I was super impressed with Crystal Springs! I met some girlfriends after work around 4:30 and was able to snag parking right up front. There was plenty of outdoor seating and we took advantage of the weather and live music by sitting outside. The espresso martini was strong - and without cream - which is my preference. It was dusted with cocoa powder on the rim and it was heavenly. I would come back just for this drink. My friend ordered apps - corn dip and fried jalapeños. Both were good but not stand out. My burger- The Brute- was amazing though. The flavors worked so well together and the whole thing was gone in ten minutes. Service was extremely slow. We couldn't find our server a lot of the time and it felt like she was always across the patio and not attentive when we needed her. We had to flag down another server to put our food order in. My friend said this kind of service has been consistent each time she has visited. So many they need more staff or some additional training? It's really a 4 star to me, but deserves the 5 because I have a nitpick about it. Get to that later. This is a main "weekend, good weather, bike riding" destination for me. I've only experienced the outside bar. Have not had any of the food although every thing I've seen looks pretty darn good. Good draft beer selection, sadly not what I usually drink, but a couple that always do the trick. Service is good, outside bartender always looks harried and annoyed, but actually is pretty nice and attentive. Once when I was there, a manager (I think) whispered to me, "if she ever gets really bad, just grab this wood muddler and hit her with it", ahh, good times. It's nice, it's busy, nice big patio area, and obviously everyone loves it, but, here it (nitpick) comes...depending on your attitude, it's either dog heaven or dog hell. It has to be the most dog populated patio crowd in town. Now, don't get me wrong, I love dogs, I love cats, but I also love leaving them at home. It's all fun and games until it's not. I've never seen a problem here. But I have seen people bring in some pretty high energy, high anxiety types. I know, boo me, bad man. But anyway, not a big deal, I've learned to park in back and come in behind the bar. I don't have to run the gauntlet anymore hoping I don't tread on someone's child-pet. Everything good. Stopped in during dinner time on a Friday. Has a relaxed very chill atmosphere. Has indoors eating as well as outside. They had someone playing music. It was very nice hangout spot. Talk about kicking off 2025 Yelp Year with a bang I just found another gem riight down the street from my house and I could tell from just one visit I'm going to be a regular at this awesome place! I saw that they were building something in this space that's been empty for a long time and I got excited hoping for exactly this kind of place and let me tell you Crystal Springs hideaway does not disappoint, The interior is beautiful with Hardwoods and very nice furniture, the bars are absolutely great. There is a big covered and heated patio on the side of the building and a very large outside seating area in the back which has it's own awesome little bar down at the bottom with 25 beers on tap! Yes you read that right 25! Also out back is a little cubby area where they will have live music soon and I'm looking forward to that. When you first walk in the first thing you'll see is an amazing selection of wine and a really cool charcuterie station where you can order a variety of different charcuterie to go with the selection of wine they offer. The Main Kitchen is run by Big Kat burgers which made a name for themselves with their burger food truck and l gotta say these burgers are super delicious! This is a local family-owned business and they are so nice and welcoming, the service so friendly and quick as well. Don't walk, run to go check out Crystal Springs Hideaway ASAP! Checked out Crystal Springs Hideaway during their soft opening in Fort Worth and was pleasantly surprised! This new spot combines a beer garden with an impressive cheese and wine shop concept. The draft beer selection is solid. They've got a great mix of Texas craft beers (eg Community and Karbach) alongside familiar domestics. The cocktail menu is standard. Looking forward to their Ranch Water on a warm day. The highlight was definitely their cheese and wine shoppe concept. You can build your own boards with various meats and cheeses, which is a fun interactive experience. The Italian board ($30) was beautifully presented with pecorino, prosciutto, and all the fixings. The wine selection is extensive with over 135 labels available. Atmosphere-wise, it's got that classic Texas beer garden feel with a nice balance of indoor/outdoor space. The converted bungalow gives it character. Parking was a small hastle given the big crowd for the openi g. Will definitely be back to try their brunch. Bagel and Lox board looks stellar. This is a great venue for outdoor live music. Great vibe, pretty good food and drink menu, friendly/efficient wait staff. The one frustrating was the seating system. The hostess asked that we not seat ourselves in open tables outside so we got on a wait list and stood at a table at the edge of the yard. While we waited about 90 minutes (it was packed!) many people found spots and seated themselves, extending the wait time for everyone on the wait list. Really cool patio area with live bands several nights a week. We were there on Jazz night and really enjoyed the band. Everyone in our party had burgers and loved them. I chose "the last chance burger" it was excellent. My only complaint is the parking. Sign says more parking in back. If you drive a big truck I suggest not going in the back as there is no room to turn around if it is full. We had to back out because it was full. In the end we parked at donut shop next door. Well it's late afternoon on Mother's Day, so we decided to celebrate somewhere new to us. CSH did not disappoint! We found the parking to be plentiful as we headed indoors to the delicious aroma of a bakery shop--here we found the Wine & Cheese section as someone promptly took us to our outdoor seating in the back courtyard. The cool breeze felt great underneath the trees and as a bonus, we could see the big screen tv in the bandshell as the Stars played. Our friendly server(wish I could have gotten his name) kindly welcomed us and took our order of beer and food. Mom had the Southwest Grilled Chicken salad and I had the BigKat Tiki burger. Plenty of selections on both drink and food menus. It seemed like it was only minutes before our dinner was served! The beer came out in ice cold mugs and the food was piping hot. This was my first BigKat burger and it was full of culinary surprises--big juicy beef patty with a tangy grilled pineapple slice and just the right amount of jalapeño spice. On the side was an ample amount of tater tots and washed it all down with a Manhattan Project Half Life hazy boi. The wife devoured the delicious guacamole and diced red peppers in her salad. Most of all, we really enjoyed the Fort Worth vibe --laid back and enjoyable. We'll definitely be back with friends. read more

My husband and I live in Oak Cliff, and we drove out to this place to see our favorite jazz band play last month. What a fantastic spot! There are two bar areas: one outside that's open and casual, and one inside that has an upscale vibe as well as a more upscale dining area. Whether inside or outside, the place has a feel that is intimate, and classy yet rustic. I love that it has vibes for different moods, depending on where you choose to sit. We sat outside to see the band and fell in love with the courtyard. It has nice trees and it's enclosed, so you don't get noise from the road. Even in this heat, it's comfortable and welcoming. Outdoor stages at smallish places don't often have great sound, but the Hideaway definitely does. The band sounded magnificent. Some sports fans wanted the screen behind the band to show sports, and we were SO HAPPY that the managers said no. After all, (a) it isn't a sports bar and (b) if you want to see sports, there are TVs with sports on all over the place -- literally in every other room of the establishment. We really appreciated that they allowed the band stage to JUST showcase the band. I wouldn't want to go back if we had to have a giant sports game in our face while we are focused on the musicianship. Food and drink: My husband had a burger, and I had a giant portobello mushroom with an egg. His burger and my egg were overcooked and not to our specifications, but I think that was just an oversight on that one day: some of our companions had eaten there many times and this surprised them, so we'll definitely plan to eat there next time. Fresh ingredients, compelling flavors, clean presentation. In spite of the overcooking, we give five stars to the food for the reasons I just provided. Our servers at the outdoor bar and at our outdoor table were friendly, capable, and attentive. Excellent martinis at reasonable prices. We love this place! It's a long drive for us or we'd be regulars! In fact, we'll be heading out there this week to see our favorite jazz band again. Afternoon happy hour 315 pm. Parking is always ridiculous. Use the remote lot of your not sure there's parking in the back. Sat down in the bar. Server, the bartender, brought over a menu. I ordered a beer. Server brought the beer, no eye contact, and left without taking my order. Which was simple. Burger with tots. But I walked up to the bar 4 feet away and ordered with the other guy standing there fraternizing with the bar people. He was friendly. Seen him before. Bartender looked at me. I realized later the other guy was a manager I guess. Bartender heard my order and nodded and put it in. Then he came over and asked for a credit card. That's fine. I said here, but I'll probably pay in CASH. The food was delivered within 5 minutes. It was messy. The burger was horribly presented and falling apart. I ate three bites. There was nothing to it. No taste. Nothing except hard to eat from the bun sliding off and falling apart. It was not as good as a sonic burger honestly. The upgraded charge for tots was ridiculous. I ate two. Old and stale. I asked for salt. Never got it. Put my plate to the side, and when the bartender came over I asked for a check. He ran my card although I told him cash. They weren't BUSY. He just didn't care. This place is for appetizers and hanging out and drinking. The food is over rated. Last time I was here, I was never greeted and the sign said wait for a seat. They were very crowded. Couldn't find a seat for two. And was never greeted. Thought I would try again in a Friday early afternoon. They don't care about customers. Just for regulars and alcohol sales. The food was terrible. Not for small groups. Left a generous 22 percent tip but that was not warranted. Maybe a bad day. The manager was there, the owner and both were entertaining regulars. So bad day couldn't have been it. Why didn't I complain to those guys? Why should I. You can see the food was not eaten. They noticed me. Never said hello.. they didn't care. So I'd rather leave a real honest review on every platform and let them see what they are. They'll still stay in business and treat the regulars well. Great place to hang out watch golf and shorts and drink. And that's what they WANT to be. So be it. Don't offer bad burgers when that IS ALL YOU DO. Burgers. Be good at it. read more

The food is overpriced and not high quality. The wait staff (Jane) is salty and could use some coaching. The wait staff literally told us we could refill our own waters and pointed in the direction to do so. How about this...refill the water and then say "if I am not back in time, you can also use our waterfilling station." Corn dip- premade, cold, not a ton of flavor. Grilled Cheese- burnt Lil Smash Burger- dry as beef jerky. The abundance of mayo and ketchup couldn't even help. The atmosphere is incredible. but unfortunatly is not set up for Texas summers. I really wanted to like this place. On a 1-10 scale, I was the highest vote in our group at a 5. Best of luck, but I can't see coming back. read more
