My 1 year old spilled entire drink when we first sat down and let them know and didn't get a complimentary replacement drink for a $6.00 strawberry lemonade. (Which pricing was confusing as the menu only shows it was $3) The ambiance was more takeout with seating to wait and peak in ya platter. Also, only available sauce to go was the sweet and spicy ;( seeing the plethora of sauces available for sell this was quite disappointing as these sauces are "award winning"... food was good though. If I could, I would give this place a zero. This was my first time there, and I had high hopes even though I heard nothing but negative things about it. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a try. I ordered stuffed salmon, green beans, a cheesesteak, and an egg roll. Firstly, my salmon was completely burnt on the inside and no stuffing, rendering it inedible. Secondly, I paid $6.00 for half a cup of green beans, which were just okay. Lastly, the cheesesteak egg roll was merely a large roll of meat with no cheese, onions, dipping sauce. At some point during quarantine, The Great Food Truck race came back on Food Network. Watching the first episode, I was hooked on the team wearing comfort food written on their shirts. This was my team. Crystal said something like "It ain't soul food unless it's season right" and I agreed. Then their introduction said they were from Philly. What?!?! Specialize in wings and sauces? I'm in. I looked them up, thought they were in Lansdale (my wife would argue that I rush things and don't pay attention) and wanted to get there once the World opened back up. They impressed Tyler with their Deviled Eggs. Possibly invented the Champagne sauce on the show? Right? I don't know, but if they already had this in their arsenal, that was an unfair advantage for this team. Anyways, this was on my list of places to go, but then these George Floyd protests started up. I was trying to support my favorite places that make up my community during Covid-19, but now I wanted to support businesses that I haven't been to, but still make up our community. The first place to pop into my head was Crystal's Comfort Food. They had some frozen food and sauces, so I placed my order for two chicken sandwiches, Swai nuggets, and honey mustard, sweet and spicy, champagne, along with the Cajun butter sauce. Picked up my order on the weekend and saved it all for tonight. I cut open the vacuum bag of Swai nuggets and put some of them in the oven. I used my vacuum sealer to seal the bag back up for later. Reheated the chicken sandwiches too. Sadly, my sandwich roll was too done, but i Heated my wife's in less then. Smothered them in champagne sauce and ate my meal. The sandwich was alright, but it was frozen. I think I'd reheat it differently next time, maybe wrapped in foil in the oven, or delegate out the roll and fry the chicken again? Not sure. Hopefully I could just get the food fresh from crystals though... The Swai nuggets were so good. Something I've never had before. I ate them plain, with champagne sauce and then we opened the sweet and spicy. That was good... really good... you'll keep my business with flavor and they did it here. No napkins for me either. Can't waste that flavor in a piece of paper that will go in the trash. I have a tongue, I can clean the sauces up. I'm hoping the covid world beginS to open back up. everytime I have a craving for chicken wings or soul food and I'm in the area I come to crystals & they hit everytime. Chicken wings are my favorite but I've had the chicken soul rolls. Today I had the spicy and sweet chicken cheese fries and oh my god, i can't stop thinking about it, it's so good!! I've had the champagne wings, mac and cheese, yams, cabbage, and the fish nuggets. My husband saw Crystals on the food truck race and wanted to come here. He placed an order online and we came to pick it up on a Saturday afternoon. We got there right after it was supposed to open I think it said 1:00 online , but it wasn't open and there was a note on the door saying it was closed. I yelled at my husband because he never checks store hours or calls people, I thought maybe they had to close because of the coronavirus. But we went to a kohl's about 10 minutes away and he then decided to message them online. They said they were open, so we drove back there again after Kohl's. Maybe it just opened late? I dunno We picked up our food and the man working at the counter was very friendly and talkative. We got 2 frozen chicken sandwiches, swai nuggets, and a bunch of sauces. The swai nuggets were actually really good. Seasoned very well with a lot of flavor, tender and moist. We heated them up in our toaster oven. The chicken sandwiches didn't turn out too good, it said to microwave them and it made the chicken dry. I'm sure it's different if you're actually eating it at the store, we'll have to try to eat there sometime. The sauces were very good. I liked the champagne sauce and the sweet and spicy sauce. We had so much hope for this place. First we called in an order and ordered the seafood wings, the girl who took the order asked me to hold came back and asked what else I would like. Go to pick up the food to be told they don't have the seafood wings available which leads me to believe she may have known, asked someone and then still let us order it. [467] This new local place opened up so I had to try it. Stopped in 8pm on a Saturday evening. Parked on the side street as this restaurant is on the main road. The staff was very nice and friendly. Inside had two tables and a few counter chairs. I'm guessing more tables are on it's way since the restaurant looked really empty/bare. We ordered a bunch of items and I was disappointed that the food was room temperature. Luckily I went straight home so I was able to pop it in the microwave (which I prefer not to do if I'm paying for take out). I guess I should have known since it was ready in less then 5 minutes. Wing platter - Chicken wings - cousin said it was ok but hubby enjoyed them. Candied yams - They were very good. We all agreed on that. Mac and cheese - It was good. Cabbage - cousin said it had too many onions and didn't enjoy Cornbread was ok Pound cake which is sold by the slice $1 was very good. I've been around since the introduction of chicken wings. I have had endless style, sauces, seasonings and cooking techniques. On Sunday 1/22 I ordered 12 wings from crystal's. They are by far the worst wings I ever had. They were over cooked to the point of being burnt and rock hard on the exterior. They we're totally tasteless except for the burnt taste. In stead of returning them I stripped the usable meat off the bones and fed it to my dog. I usually give a place three chances but these were so bad I'm not sure I can force myself to try again. I finally got a chance to visit Crystal Comfort Food Restaurant. It was my day off and me and my sister went for a ride. I decided to take a drive to try the wings that everyone's was talking about. The new location of a restaurant is very very far from Philadelphia my sister thought I was crazy. To drive all the way out there too try some chicken wings she didn't know what the big deal was and neither did I. But when we took this long drive the wings was ok. I think because it was different kinds of flavors of Wayne's debt in the flavors of wings that was the height of the chicken wing. The lemon pepper was too salty for me. It seemed like half of the bottle of salt was pulled on the wings. My sister hit the barbecue hot I think that's the name of them but we totally forgot but they was ok too. We also ordered a order of fries they also put half a bottle of seasoning salt on the fried they was too salty for us to eat so we had to throw him away. Ordered two strawberry lemonade it was too sweet and no ice We were thinking if it was ice in the cup and it might diluted a little bit. Crystal was very nice but very busy. This is a black own business They had another location in land style but they closed it. This location is really a no man's land but if you think about it is no other place walking distance or driving distance that make chicken wings. They even order trays of macaroni and cheese for their parties. They also need help A restaurant is located in the shopping mall. Oh I forgot to tell you about the wings the crust of the wings was good the taste was OK like i stated earlier mice was too salty to really enjoy i had to take a paper towel to watch the salt and pepper off. It was a little expensive for 3 whole wings was $9 and 6 was $18. When we opened our container we couldn't even pull off because we wanted to see and what the chicken tastes lik. They took 3 whole wings and cut them up to seem like you have wing things but truly you just have 3 whole wings cut up. This restaurant is convenient if you live in the area. I also wanted to try the food because Crystal and her Family was on The Great Food Truck Race. And that's one of my favorite shows But I truly wish I would try the wings when she was in Lansdale. They used to have delivery for their wings I might try that next time but with no seasonings at all. And what was crazy also that you had to pay a dollar for whatever saw she wanted on your wings. Every song you have to pay for even if is a different sauce which they did not offer. And unfortunately they did not win the great food truck race but I still wanted to try the food. The restaurant has a nice size you can see them preparing your food we didn't have a long way but some of the tables was pushed back because it the covid restrictions. People in the area probably never had chicken wings because they have variety flavors of sauces like sweet potato, sour cream, barbecue harbanera and The menu has so many sauces it was kinda confusing especially the one that was wrote on the board which is the wall. I visited a few months ago and the food was amazing! I went back this weekend and there was a noticeable change in the taste of the food. I had a Groupon and was told it is no longer accepted although it doesn't expire until April 2022. It would have been nice to notify customers; post on social media or on the website. Ordered salt and vinegar wings as well as champagne wings, sautéed cabbage and macaroni and cheese. The wings were well done, but did not taste like salt and vinegar, champagne wings were good but really sweet,macaroni and cheese was cheesy but bland and the cabbage was brown and extreme salty. We've driven past this place several times and I really wanted to try it. Sunday night (yesterday) seemed like the perfect time. Called and ordered at 6pm (they close at 7) and my fiance' went to pick up the food. Unfortunately, I was mostly disappointed. The sweet potatoes were not nearly sweet enough to be called candied yams ( which ok, is definitely subjective, I get that) but my poor crab cake was cooked to DEATH! I did not enjoy this meal. Now I NEVER write reviews, this is my first, but I was absolutely disappointed. I had bbq wings, the sauce was good, however the chicken was very chewy/hard. I couldn't even swallow it. The Mac and cheese was just Mac. There was barley any cheese. I tried to add salt to the blandness but it didn't help. The green beans had a seasoning in there that I could not identify but it was not something my tastebuds agreed on. The cornbread appeared to be store bought and very sticky like. I also did not eat that. I also ordered an extra side of potatoe salad which was ok and although it was only ok, it was best part of the meal. As someone who frequented Crystal's Comfort while in Lansdowne, PA and actually loves their wings, I was very disappointed yesterday after driving almost an hour and a half to find they were closed. The day before heading to Delaware, I actually called the restaurant. A voicemail came on that said "please listen to this message in its entirety", which I did. Nowhere in the voicemail did it state that Crystal's would be closed for a week from 8/17 to 8/25. The voicemail also stated to check their website for any updates and before coming to the restaurant, which I ALSO did the day before and day of. Again, nowhere did it state the restaurant would be closed for a week. I even went to the section of the website for "latest news" and again no messages. To my surprise, we get to the restaurant to find this sign on the door "Closed for Vacation 8/17 to 8/25". As a business, I'm actually shocked that this was neither on their voicemail or website. Everyone is not a local customer. Some people actually travel to patronize establishments. There were multiple people who I saw walking up to the door and then turning around or going to the restaurant next door. Customer service is definitely an area of need. In the future, when closing your business, please take a few minutes to update your voicemail and website. It's only right for your customers, especially ones traveling from out of town! read more

Was in Lansdowne for business and walked by this restaurant at @ 2:45 PM. I thought I'd give this place a try. All I can say is that I will never return. I don't eat meat. Nope out of crab cakes. OK. I ordered 3 sides. Out of potato salad..."it's being made". The cabbage was somewhat tasty. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be fried, but it was brown. The other two sides were garlic potatoes and collard greens. The potatoes were edible, but I could not detect garlic or much seasoning. The greens were AWFUL. The sticky wings have good flavor. However, the are too big causing them not to become crispy and cooked all the way through without being wet inside. The seafood egg salad is extremely sweet (horrible in my opinion) & the Mac & Cheese is basic (lacking flavor). I also ordered the fish but since the chicken & fish is cooked in the same fryer my fish came out dark (not sure how often the grease is changed) also, her help (her boyfriend or whomever) will cause the business to cease he is very unprofessional.
