Being from the South, I love a good Waffle House breakfast and had been wanting to stop at this one for years. Typically this one is super packed on the weekend but a few weeks ago, there were plenty of spots out front so we finally stopped in. Breakfast was quick and the server was friendly. I just had fried eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. It was all good except the bacon could have been cooked longer but next time I'll specify that I like it nice and crispy. Still missing their fiesta omelet that they took off the menu years ago - maybe one day they'll add it back or at least another omelet option cause I'm really an omelet type girl. Came in on a Monday night and place was a ghost town. Assuming it had to do with Monday Night Football but none the less had the place to myself. Ordered five waffles to go since I have no WH near me and had the all star breakfast. I actually liked how my waffles came first then my grits, eggs and sausage after. Was very pleased with the staff. Both my waitress and the cook both looked liked they enjoy what they do. Gave them both a tip for making my experience all that much better. read more

The horror stories about Waffle House was not true ( based on our experience at this location). We made a pit stop on our drive up from Ocean City to NJ. It was our first time having Waffle House and this location served our needs for rest and brunch ! The restaurant was clean , the staff was nice and attentive and the food was good. We ordered the All star special, 1 pecan waffle and the Texas bacon cheesesteak melt. Everyone was filling. I didn't love the hash browns but everything else was good. read more

I love Waffle House. This location I've been going to for years! But today's experience left a bad taste in my mouth. The biggest negative was our server. I think her name was Mandy? Idk I just know her names said "Panda" (which I doubt is her name) but I know she wore a Pink Waffle House visor with a boatload of buttons. I had to practically beg her for the only refill I got. She also was attentive to all her customers on refills but us and then she apologized for every other table she served when their food was late. But my mom's steak didn't come til the end of us eating. And no apology on that or even touching base on where the steak was. It just kinda came when it came. Then she tried to charge an extra $1 on our bill and said "oh I charged $50 for each slice of cheese on your eggs" I only got 1 slice of cheese on my eggs. They gave me one slice of cheese but my friend's eggs (she also got 2 eggs) they gave her an absurd amount of cheese (which she didn't ask). So I'm not sure what the heck was up with that. And the server was also arguing with my friend on how she wanted her waffle cooked. My friend doesn't like her pecans cooked into her waffle and the woman was trying to say "they can't do that" (which is a lie btw) and then the server saying "well I don't think they taste good like that" to be fair, no one asked her, my server had a preference on how she wanted them cooked and the server was trying to pick what was a fruitless argument. Also what is going on with the waffle makers? Aren't those supposed to be clean? Those don't look clean. read more

I normally don't flame restaurants, but my experience at the Middletown, DE Waffle House today warrants warning to others. First, the location was not busy when I arrived. There were 4-5 servers working as, I guess, they get busy on Sunday. It took nearly 5 minutes for the server to greet me after I was seated. By that time when I was asked for my drink order, I also placed my food order, the All-Star Breakfast. After quite a bit of time, I received my platter with the eggs and hash browns, which were not as I ordered, so they were wrong; and the server walked away without providing me with silverware. I had to hail another server down to get utensils and syrup! Then the waffles arrived nearly burnt, i.e., extremely well done (obviously forgotten on the waffle iron). And when I was nearly ready to go, my bacon arrived. I should also note that the place was not clean, neither the floor or the counters. Needless to say, that is my last trip to that Waffle House. Fair warning to others, this place is pretty gross and you'd be wise to steer clear of it. Shame. Waffle House used to be a good 'go to' place. Those days must be over. read more

It's a rather small restaurant with that classic diner feel where you can readily see the line cooks preparing your meal. We ordered the All-Star Special with blueberry waffles, hash-browns and bacon as well as a separate order of Sausage, Egg and Cheese grits bowl. The food came very fast and tasted as good as any other diner we've been to. The highlight of the meal was the blueberry waffles. If you are a coffee snob/connoisseur, I'd skip the coffee. While waiting to pay at the register, I saw a sign that said "Voted Best Coffee." I'm not sure if I had a bad pot of coffee, but it tasted severely diluted. Overall service was great! Our waitress checked in with us several times to ensure everything was good. As it's open 24/7, you can drop in anytime for a nice breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or even after a long night of drinking and partying. read more

Not going to lie. My favorite breakfast place! And because I live just outside of Philly and am newly back to the east coast, it's great to know there is one just an hour away from home (I've only experienced really experienced Waffle Houses down South in the Florida area). I gotta say that I was so impressed with this particular Waffle House. Everybody here who was working was so very nice and happy and genuinely seemed to be pleased with providing us with a cheap, fast, perfectly cooked meal. The workers were singing and dancing to MoTown, customers were greeting each other by name - it truly was a pleasure to spend an hour in this place. Hosted a birthday bash here. I would give six stars if I could. A fight broke out in the kitchen because we ordered so many waffles. They were shouting at us because we ordered so many. It was glorious. The middle of nowhere Middletown had so much to offer. Absolute 10/10 experience, my Texas bacon egg and cheese melt was as impeccable as always. I will come back again. My wife had never been to a Waffle House before so when I saw the sign on the highway you know I had to stop. This is good ole comfort food at its finest. The service is on the slower side so don't expect 5 star service. What surprised me is that it is not the cleanest place either but honestly who cares. It is amazing spot especially when hungover. The servers here just yell out the order and the cooks make it happen. It is incredible. Things kinda come out as they are made though so you may get your eggs before other items. The waffles came 5 minutes after the rest of the food which we didn't mind. The waffles were the best thing we had all day. I really liked the chocolate chip waffle. The eggs are made to order and the rest of the food puts the comfort in comfort food. It also will add a few hours onto your gym workout. Now one thing to keep in mind is to cancel your plans though after eating this stuff... it will go right through you. It is worth it though. I will definitely be back when I am down south. Our family road trip tradition is to leave at the crack of dawn and have a Waffle House breakfast. We love the super friendly service and the happiness of a Waffle House no matter what state we go. I don't know what happened in 6 months but this visit was horrible. The vibe was really different right as you open the door. Immediately I see the dirty uniforms some of the staff was wearing and hardly anyone was talking to one another. Barely anyone acknowledged us walking in so we just grabbed an empty table. The place was filthy. Grimy window sills, grease all over walls, garbage on the floor. It took quite a while for the food to arrive even though it was 7 in the morning and the place was half empty. Our server didn't have our order right, basically threw our food on table, and pretty much ran from our table once we questioned him. For me being from New Jersey I have never eaten at one and since I got a job at a company I decided to try new places like Hardee's and this Waffle House on different days. First thing is that they had a sign say to pay in cash so there's a Wawa in the area for that. From that point on, I went into the Waffle House it was self service seating and the funny thing is that while waiting there a clerk acknowledge me while being on break and a second clerk ignored me. For some reason, I never stopped at this Waffle House even though it's right along many of my trips southbound. Well, I decided to correct this oversight one evening. The Middletown Waffle House is a lot like pretty much every Waffle House I've been to so far. It looks like a small diner with an open kitchen. Parking is just along the front and one side of the diner. In a pinch, you could park at the shopping center next door too. However, given the restaurant's small capacity, I doubt parking would ever be an issue. Overall, this Waffle House was relatively clean, even if not the cleanest. (Bits of food tend to fall on the floor and they can't always clean it up right away.) My server that evening was very nice and very efficient. The Waffle House menu, like all other Waffle House menus, was compact but offered many choices. I enjoyed my visit here today with my sister and nephews. The staff was pleasant and courteous. Our server, Tyler, was very sweet. The food quality is about what you'd expect from a WH: pretty decent considering the price. I had a triple order plain hash brown, and was reminded why I love WH. Anytime we head south we stop at WH. First the waitress Yolanda was just lazy. We sat at one of the booths on the kitchen side. What we didn't like was when she handed us our food/beverages she neglected to reach her hand out. So why would a customer have to reach almost into the kitchen? She literally held the plates at her side. I didn't say anything because I'm always the big mouth. My husband looked at me and asked what that was about. No idea. I thought just fat (it's ok I'm fat too) and lazy but when an older white woman sat at the table behind us, she places her food and drink items on the table. Server is black and we are black. Did she assume we're young and should reach? Funny because we are both 50+ and I just had a stroke stroke but look very healthy. Now on to the food, grits lumpy with brown bits as if they were slightly burned, asked for whipped cream when food was ordered but never received, Texas toast only toasted on one side. My husband was offered and received the wrong drink refill. The waffles and eggs were good. The location was clean and was constantly being cleaned during our visit. The new dark roast coffee is EXCELLENT. Previous coffee was "ok" but this is really the way I like my coffee. Thanks for adding a great choice of beverage. The prices are such these days, that a sit down breakfast will run you around eight dollars so it's definitely pricier than grabbing a Eggamuffin. But it's a good breakfast and cooked to order. The bread recently changed to Nature's Own (from Sunbeam) and if they'd just toast it longer, it'd be perfect, but you can always request "extra dark" and around here, light toast and undercooked pizza seem to be favorites of the locals, so if you like BROWN toast, just ask. Everything else is great--you can't beat Jimmy Dean sausage, and now the great coffee. read more

I ate here with my friend Chris, and we couldn't stop thinking of the Lil Durk and Young Thug song about trapping out a Waffle House. This restaurant chain is a Southern staple, and is ubiquitous throughout the South. I like ordering burgers; Chris prefers the waffles. This time, we decided to try each other's favorite. I give this Waffle House three stars because it was slow and our orders got messed up. The food was standard Waffle House fare. We got a triple order of hash browns, smothered, covered, peppered, and coated in thick sausage gravy. He had a double cheeseburger (two quarter pound patties), opting out of my preferred patty melt, and I also had a double cheeseburger, but the smaller one from the value menu (ask for the full menu; there's a lot more on it). His burger should not have cost three dollars more than mine, as my patties weren't significantly smaller than his to the point that that price difference makes sense. The sandwiches were still well enjoyed, as were the hashbrowns, though nothing was a real standout. Then our waffles arrived, his peanut butter, mine pecan, and yeah, they were delicious. I finally understood why people order the waffles at Waffle House. And for all of this, we were sat in that little booth for over an hour. This food doesn't take long to prepare, and it's not complicated either when two guests request their orders be put on separate tickets. One of my items never made it to the table, and Chris got hit with a mystery charge on the nonitemized receipt that neither we nor the staff could account for. Oh well. This Middletown Waffle House will have customers regardless of what I write in this review, but in my opinion this location can step up their game just a bit. Jennette sucks as a waitress! I ordered 2 hot chocolates w/whipped cream for me and my 14 yr old, and was told they no longer serve it. My 2nd choice was apple juice, why did I get 2 juice boxes??? I said no thank you, I'm not 7 hrs old. I'll take OJ instead in a glass. I felt she instantly had an attitude. My only request whenever I go to Waffle House, I ask to get my waffle hot off the griddle, if the rest of the food is not ready it doesn't matter just bring me my waffle(greedy girl voice) you will automatically get a 20% tip from me. I had to ask if that was my waffle sitting there?!? She went to get it w/tude. Dropped it off at the table I put my butter on that didn't melt and had to wait a little longer to get her attention b/c I had no syrup. She knew it was cold. Grabbed the plate, threw it in the trash and started talking about me to the cook. Now I'm scared to eat... I also ordered 2 eggs over easy, hash browns and raisin toast. She brought the rest of our food, no raisin toast, white toast instead. I had to interrupt her conversation again w/the ppl at the counter. To ask for my raisin toast. At this point she's done w/me. She gave me my receipt, never asked if we needed anything else. I went up to pay the $21.75 and get a container for my daughter's food. Before leaving I called Jeannette and gave $10 tip and also told her, that I heard her talking about me to the cook. She just smiled... I left and never got my raisin toast. read more

Boyfriend shortly after eating got food poisoning and began throwing up about 3 hours later.
