I was looking for a decent restaurant closer to home (tired of driving all the way to Wanamaker) and I found this place. It's clean and has a solid menu of a variety Asian food. The Chicken Lo-mein is tasty and the Salmon Roll I has was satisfying. The Salmon Sushi I had on my second visit was fresh and the pieces were quite large. My father-in-law was happy with his selection of Beef and Broccoli. My husband ordered the Honey Chicken and it has quickly become his favorite. Service was very good and our food was prepared and served very timely. Putting this one in my regular rotation, you should too.

Best pad Thai in Topeka. Food quality is always good. We use take out so we don't dine in but otherwise very satisfied.

Terrible food. They are not asian or any chinese food. They are Mexico food by Mexicans at the kitchen. Bad service

My husband asked about a chicken friend steak, so I Yelp'd and low-and-behold, Cook's is really close to where we were. I was raised in a small midwestern town, and this, folks, is a quintessential midwestern diner! I didn't snap a pic of the menu, but ordering is done at the register and all the prices are very reasonable. I ordered a coffee & western omelette, which came with a side of hash-browns and biscuit. The coffee, very standard diner percolator brewed stuff, was fresh and the perfect consistency. The food was served quickly by a cheerful waitress who came by a few times to continue to check on us. My husband was very pleased with his chicken fried steak, hash-browns, eggs and toast. My breakfast was well-portioned; not a huge plate but definitely ample, fresh and tasty! The best part of the experience for me what the cleanliness of the dining room. Not fancy- utilitarian carpet, linoleum table tops- but so clean, fresh and well-tended. It seemed busy for a Thursday morning; more than half the dining room was occupied, and the low storefront of the building is easy to miss, but I was confident these customers were regulars. We don't live in Topeka, but this is now my fav restaurant there, so I plan to return!

No need to dress up - it's a casual environment, with booths and tables and adequate but not glaring, light. And, they're open till 10pm. The general atmosphere is of a clean, modern diner. Think "fancy Denny's". When we went, around 1 on a Monday or Tuesday, the place was almost vacant, so by my experience, I'd say the place is pretty quiet too. The menu had a nice selection of sandwiches and diner-esque type food. Enough selection to feel you have a good choice without being overwhelmed. Mostly sandwiches, soups, and salads. I, as is typical of someone with a burger fetish, ordered a basic cheeseburger. 'Tis one of those basic foods I judge new restaurants on based on a previous set bar in my head. The service was pleasant and everything we ordered arrived fairly quickly and tasted fine, though it wasn't spectacular. Just average. The prices were about average too - $7-$9 a plate. I really wanted to fall in love with Madison Street Diner being a locally owned non-chain eatery, but I didn't. I imagine they make most of their sales to hotel guests and those passing through. Because of the lack of sensational food, this is probably not a place I'll frequent. Everything else about the dining experience was nothing to deter me though and if you like basic diner food give it a try!

My wife had the beef kabob with vegetables and rice and I had the chicken fried steak with potatoes/gravy and a side salad. The beef kabob was tender with delicious vegetables. The chicken fried steak was one of the best chicken fried steaks I have had with great flavor. The side salad was fresh spring lettuce and tasty toppings. The best however was last. We ordered a piece of strawberry cake for dessert. It was one of the most moist and delicious cakes we have ever had and was only $2.99! Full bill with drinks and dessert was $30 including tax and tip. With our $5 off from our voucher made it $25. We will be back. Staff was friendly, personable and ready to help.
