When you show up and the door is supposed to be open at 7, but you're standing outside watching them set up in a ver lackadaisical effort, you tend to question the whole process and if they actually care about the process of donating plasma and is for what really care about sticking you with a needle. read more

I had left the former negative review, but that was truthful, about this donor location. I actually returned twice after that review, and it seemed the manager lady had some sort of vendetta-- maybe she was angry at my truthful review. I'd advise NOT going to this location to donate. The RNs are good, most of the staff on-site are nice; some phelobotomists ARE NOT so be careful to avoid those (see my first review). The Manager seemed to wait until my donation was completed, had already promised to provide $75 for my last promo donation, but only provided $68, so she didn't follow through, and this was twice after I had asked her directly. All I know is I'd Not recommend this donation location or try BioLife. Avoid this location. Avoid this place altogether and go to BioLife. read more

I use CSL because it's close to home. I use CSL because there's never been anything seriously bad about the program. Wait has been long at times but even with extra donor in line the entire process from walking in the door and leaving after donating had never been longer than 1-2 hours, some days it's just so seamless from check in to finish that it was just under an hour. The machines are great and I have donating about 10 times at this location. Compensation is well worth the bit of time and minor inconvenience of normally hating a syringe. read more

I've gone to CSL in Arvada on and off for about 7 years. I've also donated at Biomat and BioLife at various times over the years. They all have their pros/cons. Let me first say that Robert, who works at CSL in Arvada has ALWAYS been friendly, professional and kind and does a great job. He's been there for years and is my favorite staff member of ANY of the donation centers that I have ever been to. I just started going back to CSL and both Robert and the manager (her name escapes me) both remembered me after having not been going there (going somewhere else) for the last two years. So, that is a major PRO and both of those people deserve kudos for that level of service to a previously very loyal donor. They both get 5 stars...hand down! Also, a positive is that CSL updated their plasmaphoresis machines a couple years ago and the newer ones (Rika) are much faster than the older ones and the filter doesn't clog like on the old ones which slows down your whole donation process, so the new machines definitely decrease your overall donation time...that is also a huge PRO. I can usually get through my full donation (over 800 mL) in under 1/2 hour. The older machines (still used at Biomat) take me about 50 minutes on average and can clog in the filter which slows is down even further. Here is why I only give CSL as a whole 3 stars: CSL still has the same issue they've always had...no designated front desk staff to answer the phone and manage the new donor process and too few people doing screenings to keep the line moving at a steady pace. So, instead the screeners and/or nurses have to do their job AND float back and forth to the front desk to answer phones, do walk ins, manage new donors....and you can see/feel the stress they are unnecessarily placed under to handle all of that as well as the stress for return and new donors who have to wait...and wait...and wait, sometimes for unnecessarily long. Every other donation center I've ever been to ALWAYS has at least one if not two front desk staff at all times. There is no reason CSL can't, too....for the love of god pay them more if you have to...it is highly unprofessional for a medical center of any kind to be run that way. I'm sure that has less to do with the staff who have been loyally doing their job there for years and KNOW full well the limitations and stress this system places on all of the staff, and more to do with corporate BS preventing this place from paying more and getting a few QUALITY front desk staff. So, no criticism of the current staff...but total criticism to CSL corporate....DO BETTER! My last criticism is the occasional screener (not all of them, but some) who takes WAY too long to do a simple screening while everyone else in line is pulling their hair out in frustration while the screener and donor chit chat for 10 minutes. It should only take about 4 minutes per donor to do a simple screening, and I've seen the occasional screener take twice that long on every single donor or longer...which means if you're the 8th person standing in line, you're going to wait an extra 30 minutes just to get screened. Of course, how bad of a problem that is depends on how busy it is and since CSL does a walk-in only, no appointment system you may walk in one day to no line at all and get through pretty quickly and another day to a line that goes out to the door. That can be very frustrating because you can't plan your day around not knowing how long your total donation time will be. That being said, a huge criticism of BioLife is that they DO use an appointment system but they don't limit the number of people who can sign up at any given time. So, you show up on time for your scheduled appointment and you're still the 10thh person in line and it takes just as long...if you're going to use an appointment system, then LIMIT how many people can sign up in any 15 minute time slot. Otherwise, what is the point???? If that time slot fills up, then you have to sign up earlier or later and that will spread people out enough so that the line doesn't get too long. I HATED that about BioLife. Go read the reviews for them and you'll see countless reviews stating that criticism. read more

I was intrigued at the idea of donating plasma and getting compensated for doing so. I filled out a form expressing my interest. Several days passed and did not hear back. Then, I called a donation center near me to schedule an appointment; when directed to press the key on my phone to speak with someone, the phone rang,... and rang,... and rang. The poor review is not for lack of friendliness; the little staff they have are kind and professional. However- extremely, appallingly slow. The doctors especially- I had a tiny bruise at one point and I sat there for 3 hours waiting to be seen. There were THREE people in front of me and two doctors who were just joking with each other, going to get their Amazon packages from the front desk, and slowly walking back and forth to/from their offices, all while we waited for them to call people back. Absolutely insane. My first time there as a new donor I was there for SIX HOURS. Six hours! Showed up today at 8:30am on a Monday morning and the line was almost out the door, and they had one intake specialist who was moving at a snail's pace. We all waited while she spent 20 minutes on one person. I've had other intake specialists where it's taken barely five minutes- when you have a lot of donors, you don't take your sweet time. I ended up walking out- for $50 it's not worth it to stand in line for hours. I've been here when there's barely any line and it's the same deal- I've waited with 5 people in front of me for over 90 mins. With more staff- and training the staff in there now better- the process would move along a lot quicker. Yes, you should always carve some time out whenever you're donating plasma. But it should never take more than 90 mins-2 hours when you're a regular donor and there's barely a line. That said, the phlebotomists are awesome and know what they're doing. I really enjoy that part of the process... just getting in is a pain in the neck. read more

To whom it may concern I am a gentleman that comes in and out of CSL in Riverside over two years. I moved to Hesperia Ca and went to the CSL up here. They have stabbed my arm three times in one occasion and went back three days later. Amd they where sticking my other arm then once they were in they were moving the needle up and down all around to try to find the vein. They couldn't find it . They blow out my vein, I had to wear an ice pack on my arm. The employees their seem like a bunch of kids without experience that just got out of school. My last visit was on 12th of May. They were understaffed, I get it. While we were waiting the phlebotomist (short guy with a beard) decided he was gonna take a half hour break. OK, he's entitled I get it. Unfortunately that made a 2 hour trip quickly turned into a more than 3 1/2 hour trip. Also heard one of the people on the floor (older lady with dark hair) bragging about how multiple others have tried to press charges and have failed, red flag Immediately was disgusted by the attitude and treatment of the floor staff that morning. Keep in mind it was just that morning I've gone multiple times and they have been wonderful. This incident had to do solely with the floor staff that Monday morning. The best part is, when they were returning the saline into my arm, my bicep filled up like a water balloon. It was extremely painful. Than the first nurse came over and stated how she couldn't do anything because she didn't have gloves. Thankfully the older more experienced nurse came over and gave me an ice pack to sit with for about 20 minutes. Within 10 minutes the older lady with the dark hair was yelling to the guy with the beard from across the room how I was complaining about the pay. I was not complaining at all, I was only surprised I was making less than $50 for that visit. There was no argument and there was nothing further said by me. Around the 12 minute mark they told me I should leave. The only word I can use to describe the last visit I will ever have there is disgusting. read more

I've been donating my plasma here for years. I've also donated at other centers. This center has THE kindest, most professional people around. And, the "short little blonde" is one of the best managers I've ever witnessed. I've talked to many of the phlebotomists and front screeners, ALL who have complimented Colleen and have told me how great she is to work for. Marquita, Tony, Rachel, Angela, Tracy, Robert, Mark... are just some of the incredible people that work here. I don't love getting stuck with a needle, but I love being around these wonderful, hard working individuals. read more

I think that they intentionally train their staff to be slow. I am in the healthcare field and I'm absolutely appalled at how long they've managed to extend this process. The check-in shouldn't take more than 5 minutes per person, but they've managed to easily extend a simple set of vitals and a basic blood assessment to 10+ minutes. After that absolute crap show of waiting in line you're directed to yet another line to be seated. After this you're expected to wait in your chair for the single IV-certified staff member they have to finally stick you and get the ball rolling. Overall, unless you have roughly 3 hours to spend on a procedure that should take less than 1 in total, I'd say your time is best spent going elsewhere. read more

I returned and had an issue with check in so I was helped and come to find out, Sarah did wrong me. I was entitled to a retest of my pulse and both my donation history and my health proved me right that it was unheard of for my pulse to be that high. The kind nurse, Sheila, even pointed out that if my pulse really was that high I would likely be in dire straits. Overall the issue was handled and I was screened by Tony who is amazing as always. The Arvada Plasma Center is an amazingly friendly and welcoming place to visit. The people here have been nothing but helpful, kind, happy in their attitude towards me. I recommend this facility very highly also for their professional standards when extracting blood from your arm . I go twice weekly and have completed 13 donations and enjoy going there in stark contrast to the Aurora CSL Plasma Center which was the worst possible experience of my life. Way to go Arvada CSL!!! This center is an 8/10. I definitely recommend them over other locations hands down. The normal staff,the vets, and management are all amazing! They are kind and understanding and patient. They aren't out to turn people away or make things hard for people. Colleen, Robert,Alfredo,Huston, Markita all these people and a few more I would consider friends. They enjoy their job they enjoy working with everyone they treat us like people not cattle they need to get in and out! If you draw the short straw and have interactions with Susan, Chris, or god forbid TONY don't hold it against them those are just a few rotten apples! I have donated at this location 8 times. The staff are very organized and professional. The phlebotomists who take your plasma are friendly and very skilled at inserting the needle in a way that doesn't hurt. Location is clean. They are very thorough in their examinations prior to each donation to ensure you are hydrated and healthy enough to donate that day. Plasma is so needed right now and thus they are paying extremely well (as of this writing). I was a little nervous to begin donating for a lot of reasons, including whether my body could handle it, would the employees be skilled and would the loaction be clean. My experience has been so good I will probably continue to donate most of my life assuming I'll always be healthy enough to do so. Plasma cannot be made in a lab (cannot be made synthetic) and is so needed. It saves lives. read more

I've been donating at this center for about 2 years now. The staff are great and had always been a good experience until recently. These days you never know whether or not there is a nurse on staff or sufficient screening staff. I showed up at 6:10 today (opens at 6:30). No nurse. This is the 3rd Friday in a row with no nurse in the early a.m. Supposedly a nurse coming in at 11:00 but I should call back to make sure????? For the most part the staff is great but when an issue arises and you have to deal with a "manager" that's when all hell breaks out! Once you get on their shit list, they make your life a living hell. Especially the "little short blonde" one. When did it become protocol to not change gloves between patients? The person screening just rubs hand sanitizer on his gloves between patients. Phlebotomists also do not change gloves between needle sticks and disconnects. This seems unsafe when dealing with blood! read more

I don't think the other reviewers QUITE UNDERSTAND the process. Yes it does take awhile, so if that's going to bother you or you have a time constraint, don't go. This is one of the busier times of the year so unless you go early early morning, you will probably have a wait. That being said.... This location is absolutely awesome. I used to attend the location in Northglenn and am so happy that I switched over. The staff is friendly and keep the ball rolling even when it is busy. I go twice a week and have never had a painful poke. I've interacted with every employee here and each has been professional and friendly. They go out of their way to make you comfortable. This location is dogged by utter incompetence. It's never busy, but every time I have attempted to go to this facility, I've been left waiting for at least FOUR HOURS before I am allowed to donate, which at any other location has taken 30 minutes at most. *Facility is dirty. *ALL SAHH kiosks are faulty, in need of repair. *Staff does not care, nor do they have any incentive to care. *This facility deserves to be shut down, all employees fired, or both. In the meantime, I will never be returning to this facility to donate. Eight hours (over two days) of my life were wasted here, that I will never get back. read more

Hit and miss. They don't take appts for new donors.... but only see donors if they have enough "medical staff." You don't know what their staffing is that day unless you call and hope for a pick up. I had a very horrible experience here. They blew my vein which caused no flows. I raise my hand for no flows and nobody wants to help. Then a guy comes to help and says I ate wrong and that's why. Then he walks away and I'm still on no flow. So I'm dead in the water with no help. Then I have to start just vocalizing that I need some help. And that's when they all turned on me before realizing that they blew my vein. When they realized they blew my vein they did not apologize for jumping on me they just made excuses. I called management and they essentially said I was full of shit. Their is no one their for YOU! They are there to act how ever they want and then just team up and blame the PATIENT. Don't go here.
