Upon examination he said I had a piece of glass in my heel - I was shocked. He removed it to and to my utter surprise - no more pain. Dr. Mellul knew just what to do and I was extremely grateful. Recently I began having other troubles with my feet and he is tenderly guiding me through the healing process as he understands my fear of surgery. However, there's an angel at Jefferson Health Plans, that radiates empathy, compassion, reliability, follow-through, authenticity, kindness, and attention to detail. The angel that Jefferson Health is blessed with comes in the form of a nurse care coordinator for their special needs unit, Janice. After contacting Janice, because one of my specialist doctors didn't appear to be covered under Jefferson Health, she called me at least eight times to follow up, check for updates, make calls to the physician's office, all over 4 business days. My last call from Janice was on my ride to the doctor, to let me know she had spoken with the office, and ensured that my appointment was covered. To the Executives and Board Members of Jefferson Health, if Janice isn't highly promoted, add recognized each year, you're mashing a "big mistake. Big. Huge!" to quote Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. You have a rare commodity, with extreme value, character, and skills that cannot be taught. Since she's likely in a work for hire position, essentially, she's a free agent. Lock her down, and don't be shortsighted. To the other healthcare companies, let the poaching begin. I guarantee Janice is talent of star status.

I told them that I am already in a cancer program of strength training my back. Twice a week for 12 weeks. I have cancer. Awful repercussions from the cancer treatment , and I have gi and back pain. I have to see at least three doctors a week it seems on the average plus all of the testing. These people are stingy with medication. My spinal doctor recommended opioid treatment. It is in the old Graduate Hospital campus at the corner of 18th and South Streets. Valet parking reasonably priced and makes transportation by auto very easy. I was there for a lithotripsy to blast away a few kidney stones. But, for the fact that it required general anesthesia because they did not want me to move while their laser guided micro shocks were breaking up the stones, it would not have been a big deal. Nothing invasive beyond the line for the anesthesia. Their process is also fairly simple. Arrive an hour or so before the scheduled time, get logged in on the third floor and wait for a call to go up to the forth. There, I was screened by a nurse, the anesthesiologist, my doctor and the specialist operating the equipment, to be certain they had the right patient, and that I had followed the preparation directions correctly. Then, a mark on my left shoulder to confirm that was the side being treated. The line was put into my left wrist with care and skill, while a light dose of Xanax was injected to mellow me out before the heavy knock out drug was administered. All very professional and smoothly done. I remember being wheeled into the O.R. and being transferred to the bed/table where the work was done. Next thing I remember was waking up in recovery with a smiling nurse offering me juice and crackers. The doctor stopped by to let me know everything went well, and that he wanted to see me in a few weeks. There is nothing like the confidence instilled by skilled professionals with a humane touch. These Penn Med folks are selected for their humanity as much as their technical abilities. I was impressed with all of them. They even made jokes as we went along, and made me comfortable laughing with them. Although I was given a prescription for pain meds, and standard post-op antibiotics, I have had no pain at all, and have taken only the antibiotics as a precaution against the possibility of infection. So far, this has been an efficient and smooth process from beginning to end. I feel totally confident in the Penn Med staff and the facility itself. True 21st Century medicine provided by a world class institution.

I was not offered a dressing room to disrobe..I was to l disrobe in the radiology room where the test was to take place. Anyone could have walked in! 3. The tech was a perfectionist about the procedure...breast placement, etc. But she was ROUGH...She handled my breast like a piece of meat...pushed and shoved to get it in place without regard for the additional discomfort she was adding to an already uncomfortable procedure. 4. She told me I would get results in a week...not what was on the website. In the future, I will travel to the mamography center in Sequim, which has state of the art customer care, a friendly staff, and a caring approach.

What started as a small splinter turned into a drawn-out ordeal. My PCP and the ER ran several unnecessary tests (2 X-rays and a CT), yet the problem persisted. I was beginning to feel hopeless until I walked into Dr. Miller's office. Within five minutes, Dr. Miller identified and expertly removed the splinter that had been causing me so much pain and stress. His skill, efficiency, and no-nonsense approach were a breath of fresh air after such a long and frustrating experience.
