My review starts with a confession: If the Cafe Brazil a dozen yards away hadn't been packed with a half-hour wait for a table for two, my wife and I would have said, "well, we'll try that place there later." That later might never have come. But the Cafe Brazil was packed with the lunchtime/after-church crowd, and the Cuba Bella Cafe was right there, door open and inviting. So, confession over. Here's the good part: the food. We started with an appetizer: the croquetas de jamon. They were crispy on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside, and served with a fine garlic sauce to dip them in. Each was about the size of a fish stick, a perfect finger food size. My only complaint about these was that between me and my wife each having one, I wanted more. For an entree, I had the picadillo, ground beef in a tomato sofrito sauce with onions, peppers, raisins, and olives that gave just the right amount of saltiness. I had yellow rice on the side with solid flavor, and plantains that were just lightly, crispily carmelized on the outside and warm, soft, and sweet inside. My wife had the Criolla Fried Chicken, and while fried chicken is usually an iffy proposition for her, here the breading--if any--is light, leaving the outside crisp and the inside moist. Her white rice was perfectly cooked. I also had a Cortadito Cubano--something like a latte for you folks about to look it up (I had to) with robust flavor. I had to ask for it twice, but that's about the only complaint I have about this place. A gentleman who I think was the owner came around the tables twice just to make sure people were enjoying their food. Wow!!! Finally after many years searching in DFW and surrounding areas for a good Cuban sandwich, one that represented the original from Miami. Cuba Bella did that and then some. I was in town for the weekend and my sister lives down the street from Cuba Bella Cafe. It was a great choice for dinner Saturday night. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was on point. We started off with one of the sampler appetizers and the empanada and yucca were delicious. The picadillo entry I ordered had the perfect balance of spices. I will definitely be back to try one of their other dishes. Based upon another table who brought a bottle of wine, it looks like they're BYOB. Great mental note for next time! read more

I was dying to try this place since I saw an article about it and was happy a new Cuban restaurant opened near by. When we walked in, no one greeted us until we walked to the register and the lady said "You can sit anywhere" she was polite. We sat and the waitress gave us menus and took our drink order. She back pretty quickly and asked us if we were ready to order, which we were. We ordered sandwiches. We waited for our order, we noticed the waitress was very attentive with the other customers, coming by asking if they needed something else but not us. The food arrived hot. My sandwich was dry, not much favor but other two in my party enjoyed their juicy Cubano sandwiches. While we were eating the waitress never came to see if we needed anything like she did with other customers. No it wasn't busy, there were only six other tables occupied. We were done and she gave to boxes, we paid and left. Later that night, we were discussing our experience at the restaurant and we both decided not to back because we felt a weird vibe there. When we were there, I didn't want to ask my husband if he felt the same in front our young daughter. We are a mixed couple and we wondered if it bothered them. Visited this place today after receiving a deal for T-Mobile Tuesday. It certainly did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in the staff was super courteous. I ordered the steak and onions. My husband ordered the oxtails. Everything was delicious!!!!!!! We will definitely be back soon! Also enjoyed a cortadito while I waited for my food to be prepared. Solid 3.5 stars. I don't know anything about Cuban food but my wife and I had dinner here and the menu is very explanatory and helps a lot in ordering. You can tell they've decorated the place well and it's a step up from your typical mom and pop restaurant. There was live Cuban music on our Saturday night that set a nice atmosphere. I had chicken with a citrus sauce that was served thin and well seasoned. My wife had "crispy" pork and it was charred a bit but tender. Less spicy than we expected. Both dishes were served with rice, beans and grilled plantains (that were surprisingly good). Our appetizer was stuffed potatoes with a beef filling and strangely was served on a single small plate between us. Kinda odd but when in Rome... We had tres leches for dessert and it was typical grocery store deli quality. Overall not bad. Good place for a casual lunch when you want a step up from the norm. BEST CUBAN FOOD IN TEXAS! Came here in a Tuesday night on a business trip. Was greeted by the owner and promptly seated. The decor was very nice with pictures of Cuba. Was greeted with a empanada on the house which was very good. Owner was very friendly and is from Cuba. Ordered papa rellanas as an appetizer and my favorite picadillo with congri and plantains. Was as good as i get back home in Miami and was a wonderful meal and reasonably priced. read more

I was lucky to get to go to Havana with my college-aged son last summer and couldn't wait for Cuba Bella Café to open so that my whole family could go. We had lunch there last Sunday and we will definitely be back! Three of us had the Cubano because it's a classic, right? My husband ordered a grilled pork chop which was served with white ride and plantains. Other sides we had included black beans and arroz con pollo. Everything was wonderful, reasonably priced and the service was excellent. I can tell you my Cuban sandwich was much better than the one I had in Havana, no contest. Atmosphere is bright and cute with mural of the capitol building under renovation which must have been taken very recently. The place is a little hard to see from Josey as the Café Brazil is somewhat in front of it, but it is well worth hunting for it. read more

I hate to give a bad review to a Cuban restaurant but to be honest food wasn't great, I love Cuban food and I've been to others Cuban restaurants that I'm in love with and I wanted so badly that this restaurant become one of those but unfortunately is not going to happen I like the restaurant is little and have a homie feeling , service was good but food was tasteless just fry, we order a chuleta which was just fry with half cook onions on the top, rice has big pieces of tomatoes that taste raw sweet plantain were good, we also order a sample which come with 2 croquetas one papa rellena 1 empanada and fry yuca, croquetas and potatoes mere good but the empanada and yucas were bad the empanada has a strong cumin taste and the yuca was not real with this I mean it was processed similar as the French fries that you get at the store frozen but yuca version. read more

Even though their website says they are open despite the construction in the parking lot... Amazing Cuban food in North Texas! Having just been in Cuba we were excited to try this new restaurant in the area and we were not disappointed! Started with the appetizer combo platter which offered a nice variety. We both had the paella which was a great variation of the classic dish from Spain! First...let me start by saying the good first...the food was great! Literally like food my mother made! Now the bad. We spent from walking in through the door till the point where we ate and walked out the door 2 1/2 hours...I kid you not! We ordered an appetizer which came out fairly soon (15 min) but when it came to our main dish we waited and waited and waited and waited. Finally asked waiter what the problem was after more than an hour and he told me...they had run out of food! He explained a large party had come in and depleted the food. Yes...a restaurant...ran out of food. Waiter explained that a large party had come in before and depleted the food. Someone apparently had to go out the back door, go to Albertsons to buy more food then come back and cook it. I understand...it's a new business but here's the disappointing part, the owner not once came and offered an explanation, offer an apology, try to establish "goodwill". He not once showed any interest in retaining our business. So my advice is...before going it may be a good idea to call and ask if they have plenty of food! We met some friends there yesterday for dinner. Now let me inform you I am Cuban born so I know something about our food. The place was clean, nice pictures on the walls. The music playing was original Cuban songs. From my point of view I notice the menu was a bit limited. I ordered the Ropa Vieja. It came with Black beans, white rice and plantains. When the dish was served it was divided into small rectangular bowls. I have to say the portions were rather small. The taste was good but not enough food for an adult male. I then ordered a Flan and was told they were out of them, in over 60 years of eating in Cuban locations this was a first considering we walked in at 6pm. I said OK that I wanted a Cuban coffee and asked if they had guava pastries and if so I wanted 10 to go. They brought the coffee which had grounds at the bottom, then they brought out the 3 boxes for 9 not 10 since that was all they had. When we got home my wife wanted one of the guava pastries. It was large like an apple turnover, but couldn't find the guava. Finally a sliver of guava and cream cheese. I waited until today to try them and sure enough I couldn't find the guava until the last bite a very small sliver. In my opinion save your money and go to one of other Cuban places in the metroplex. read more
