This place was so good. My grading curve is pretty strict especially being Puerto Rican. The food here is without a doubt authentic Cuban food. I asked for Mayochep and the owner came out and said he could make it for me. The food was perfect and reminded me of family cooking. The empanada and the papa rellena were easily devoured upon hitting the table. Finding good pork is also a very hard thing to find when it comes to Texas. A lot of places due a similar pulled pork but the fried pork here was so delicious. This place was immaculate clean. The music was great, not too loud. The service was also very kind and patient with me as I flipped the pages trying to decide what to get. The Cuban coffee was very delish and a great way to pair with the Flan. When we go on vacation we try as many spots as we can but if a place is good enough, sometimes we go twice. This place is truly special. Very close to my foodie heart . First time ordered light to go: congri (cuban rice mixed with black beans) and patacones (smashed up double fried green plantains). My expectations were low. The congri was a religious experience. I've only had congri this good another time in my life and that was home cooked by a Cuban friend. This congri is better than anything in Miami. It's better than Versailles and it's probably the best congri in the world . I come from Ecuador and plaintain runs thru my veins. That I know of Cuba is not known for excellent patacones. But these were up there with the best I've ever had. And trust me that's high praise coming from an Ecuadorian. Second time we came we ate light at the restaurant: 2 cheese empanadas, a cuban coffee (that espresso thimble thing) and a mojito cocktail. The cuban coffee was the best I've ever had but I'm biased bc he put a little sugar in it and it was deep and perfect. My wife who is half Cuban likes it straight (no sugar). The mojito was good but it needs a little work. For the best mojito ever go to Miami's Cafe Versailles. The lovely waitress who waited on us was attentive and even offered to take a picture of us. Met the owner/chef and he shared some of his incredible life story. I'll respect his privacy but he had to go to epic lengths to achieve his American dream. We ordered $100 of food to go. The pork cuban tamal was infused with pork flavor to the max. The sanduche Cubano would be something that fit right in Miami. His Ropa Vieja is right on par with my wife's ropa vieja which I consider better than any I've had in ANY restaurant including Versailles and La Carreta. These guys are so lovely and authentic that I don't think they even speak English. But don't fret, bring your Google Translate and be treated to some of the best Cuban food anywhere. I really loved this place and I really love these guys. Like the owner said: "trato de dar lo mejor de mi" = I give the best of myself from the heart . That's my kind of place. What a fun spot in Carrollton! My family decided randomly that it had been far too long since we enjoyed some Cuban cuisine and we had no idea where to go in DFW. We ended up at the best spot possible at the Cuba Bella Cafe! We arrived and were seated promptly and the restaurant was cute and very clean. We ordered Potato Rellenos, Beef Empanadas, a Cuban Sandwich, and Bistec. All of the items were excellently prepared and served nice and hot. Came here on a Saturday evening randomly. I ordered numerous items because I live far from the location. The servers were cordial and the place was not very busy. The prices seemed average. As for the food: Chicharron: absolutely delicious. Crispy on the outside and so moist on the inside. Wish I'd ordered more. Tamale: I haven't had a cuban tamale before so cannot tell if the taste was typical but I wasn't a big fan. Oxtail with yellow rice and black beans: I found the oxtail to be a bit under seasoned and not particularly moist. One piece was difficult to eat because of how tough it was. The sides were average. Picadillo with yellow rice and black beans: the meat was fine. The sides were fine. Not particularly memorable as either great or less than great. read more

In the interest of full-disclosure, I should mention that my family is Cuban and I grew up eating Cuban food. No restaurant outside of Miami has been able to match my mother and grandmother's cooking. But with all that said, the food at Cuba Bella was pretty good; on its own, I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. However, the service was absolutely atrocious. From the moment we walked in until we checked out, we all felt that our server saw us as a bother. Mind you, we all speak perfect Spanish, so we had no problem communicating. There was another server there taking care of other guests, and she did not seem to have the same attitude. But our server seemed like she really wanted to be somewhere else. read more

Loved this place. Lots of parking. Modern and clean atmosphere with lots of Cuban flags and photographs of their capitol building. We both got Ropa Vieja entree with white rice and beans and plantains. It was divine!! He got fried green plantains which came with a citrus garlic sauce, while I got sweet plantains--they were perfectly crispy and sweet. My favorite! I asked for a chimichurri sauce on the side but I wasn't a huge fan--it's fine because the food was so good on its own! They brought our waters out and then a glass bottle for the table for refills which is always appreciated. I called beforehand to make sure they had Ropa Vieja--the reason I go to cuban restaurants. They picked up quickly so thank you. The only downside I found is that they had a 20% increase of price written on the menu... while the menu on their website hasn't been updated and still shows the original prices. read more

Full disclosure that the one star review I gave was due to service and not the food. The food was great but left a foul taste in my mouth and I can explain why. I came around 2pm today and at the time I came in I was the only person dining until about 20 mins into my meal. While I was ordering my meal, I had a hard time understanding my waitress. I felt like she was very impatient. After she got frustrated by lack of understanding she then was speaking to another person perhaps another coworker but how she was explaining the situation to her coworker she said "Chino" basically assuming that I was Chinese. What a shame. Not all Asians are the same. I'm Filipino but not Chino. She never came in to check on me that I can recall. While still some Arroz Con Pollo on my plate she kept asking or insisting for me to pay my tab. After feeling a little bit irritated I went to the register to pay via Apple Pay. Although I had a bad experience I still left a 20% tip. Just wanted to be a better person despite being treated like second class citizen. Racism is real but when it's another minority doing it to another minority it's mind blowing. read more

Id been here once years ago and ordered a cubano. I thought it was an excellent cubano that felt like textbook definition of what you'd expect. This time, I ordered the Masa De Puerco Frita meal with black beans, white rice, and sweet plantains. The fried pork was cooked just right, where the meat tore off like flaky pulled pork. This isn't crispy like chicharrones or fried chicken skin, or there is definitely a fried food taste that added to the meal. The garlic citrus sauce is what really wowed me! Full of flavor that had me licking the plate at the end. It helped with the rice as the sauce seeped into it. The black beans were ok, but I feel they could have done something to doctor them up. Whether that's adding fat, spices, or something to give it more flavor than just straight black beans). The white rice is standard, and nothing about it is memorable. The sweet plantains were not as soft as I would have hoped, but they did have a good banana flavor. I wish they were more charred on the outside as well. I also ordered a slice of tres leche cake. This is not a normal cake, as it was more a piece of bread soaked like tres leche. This is definitely more European sweet, which means it goes great with coffee. I wish it were sweeter or had more cinnamon, but it's a light and cold dessert I can still appreciate. read more

Our waitress did not understand English, and therefore our order was all mixed up, along with the bill. I got a sudden craving this past weekend and remembered all the great Cuban options in Miami so was curious on how this spot would pan out and it did not disappoint. The Tostones were thick and crispy and some of the best I've had in a long time. The Jamon croquettes were alright and could be better. As for the entrees, the pork chunks were cooked Perfectly and paired so well with the congri. The shredded beef was solid and was paired with an incredibly well flavored white rice (reminded me of the chicken stock rice in Singapore) My son devoured the mini cubano which was stacked with lots of pork and yummy bread. What a find! I am just sad I hadn't been here earlier! The ambiance and vibe here is great. The staff is very friendly and pretty prompt. If it looks like you need them, they will be right there. The board with specials noted they have live music on the weekends so may be worth checking out on a Friday to get the true Cuban vibe. The food was excellent as was the tres leches. I have a sweet tooth so dessert is a must. My buddy doesn't typically like tres leches but this one he was all about. There are many things I have yet to try on this menu so will definitely be back! Wow I've never had such flavorful and delicious Cuban food in my life!! I'm no expert but it tasted very authentic and warmed my soul! I got the masa de peurco frita and my husband got the vaca frita and both were so genuinely delicious!! The pork was tender and melted in your mouth and the beef was so unique in its texture almost like crispy beef noodles and bursting with amazing spices. The empanadas were also amazing and the plantain chips were seasoned so well with the signature garlic citrus sauce that I want to put on everything from now on.
