Last time I came to Cuba Cuba was during the pandemic where everything was carry out so I'm glad I got to experience the dine in ambiance because the interior design is definitely a vibe and the server was very accommodating and knowledgeable about menu items. It's nice to get to experience diverse restaurants in Denver. Although this was Cuban food, there was a lot of other Latin inspirations on the menu as well. I got the old Cuban with less simple syrup. At first I thought it was too citrusy as I don't like sweet/sour drinks but after the first sip the prosecco and orange bitters paired so well together and it was refreshing. I also got the steak sandwich with chimichurri on the side. The shoestring fries are fun. It's all on the pricey end but it was a lot of food leftover so it's worth the price! read more

A great golden triangle dinner date stop! If you haven't had the pleasure of trying Cuba Cuba yet, I highly recommend. I enjoyed a dinner here a few weeks ago and I still think about it. The menu is no fuss, to the ignorant it may be confusing but if you go in with a curious heart, ready to ask the staff questions, you're in for a treat. Based on our servers recommendation, I got the Puerco Frito, and WOW. Every bite was light and flavorful. I've been told that you really can't go wrong with any of the menu items, and based on what I tried, I have to agree with that sentiment. If you are lucky, they'll seat you in this massive room with one wall that's just windows, which makes for an even more relaxing dining experience. Give this place a try! read more

My friend and I went to Cuba Cuba as we arrived in the evening and were recommended it by a nearby bar whose kitchen had already closed. We stumbled in wet and Andre made us feel so comfortable and at ease despite being ready to just about call it a night. The regulars spoke so highly of the place and the food was incredible. I devoured my meal and my 'desert to go' before we left. The black beans are probably the best I've had, and the yuca frita was so good. We returned for dinner with a larger group because the food was so good. Honestly, i kinda wanna open this kitchen in my hometown. read more

Great food and cocktails but very slow service. We arrived just before five but could not be seated in the dining room as they don't begin serving dinner until 5 and the bar was full. We enjoyed Cuba libres and pineapple mojitos off the happy hour menu which were excellently prepared. Lots of pineapple flavor in the pineapple mojito. The app with tostones and avocados was tasty but a bit pricey considering you only get three small tostones topped with avocados. The ropa vieja was excellent and a good sized portion. Only thing that really detracted from our experience was the very slow service. We had to wait an inordinately long time to check out and get our CC back. Atmosphere is festive and fun. I'd return here but would be cautious coming here if you have plans after due to the slow service. read more

Cuba Cuba was the first Cuban restaurant in the City, founded by Kristy Socarrás Bigelow, a Cuban-American stranded in the food desert of 2001 Denver and homesick for the Miami food scene. She soon livened things up and I've been enjoying this charming spot ever since. Tonight's dinner was, unfortunately, a little inconsistent. Our entrées were great and very flavorful, although both were a bit dry and bland. They definitely could have used more of a kick. I had the Puerco Frito (fried pork) which came with garlic mojo, sauteed onion, moro rice (white rice cooked with black beans), and fried yuca. The mojo sauce was very disappointing. It tasted of nothing and seemed to be only a neutral vegetable oil with a bit of garlic. Where was the bitter orange, tangy olive oil, or spice blend? None of these were to be found. Definitely not authentic. However, the pork was still tender and savory, the moro rice was great, and the yuca fries were delicious. I added some of the mango habanero mojo from the appetizer and that pepped up the pork quite a bit. My friend had the Pan con Bistec which is a pressed sandwich on authentic Cuban bread with steak, onions, and [optional] Swiss cheese. The steak was very tender and the sandwich had a good mix of flavors, but again was somewhat bland and dry. The tiny pitcher of chimichurri was only a partial help. She also added some of the garlic mojo from the appetizer. Too bad this was so bland. We started with the Mariquitas. The plantain chips were great. The guacamole was good. The garlic mojo was disappointing as I've mentioned. The mango habanero mojo was better, but had very little spice. I had a Mojito which was awful. Totally unbalanced with too much sugar, too much rum, no taste of lime, and mint that was not muddled properly. Very disappointing. We finished with a very nice flan in a delicious caramel sauce. The staff was extremely gracious and efficient. We sat in the back room of the main building. The night was a bit warm, but the doors were open and we enjoyed a gentle breeze. One of the first restaurants we fell in love with when we moved to Denver 5 years ago! My favorite dishes are Lechon Asado and the Churrasco con Chimichurri. The Yuca fries and the Moro rice are my favorite sides. I like their cole slaw because it has a bit of a kick from jalapeno, and is very fresh and crunchy without being overdressed. I thought the sandwiches were mediocre. They have a good blackberry mojito too. read more

I can't recommend this spot enough! I dined here with my dear friend and to say we had a blast is an understatement. The food and vibrant atmosphere is enough to make for a feel good experience! First of all, I have little banana allergy and this restaurant fries everything (plantains included) in the same oil. I let my server know that my allergy isn't detrimental unless I consume too much banana or plantain pulp / meat- in that case, I'd get hives. She was very quick to assist me by subbing the maduras for yuca fries so I could have a great experience here. I really appreciated that and the yuca fries were SO TASTY. I mean I am dreaming of these again. I ordered the famous vaca frita and absolutely loved every bite! It's so satisfying to have the crispiness and juiciness married in this combination. Also, we enjoyed the mojo fries with garlic sauce for an appetizer. I am a heavy garlic girlie and this sauce was so spot on! Rich in garlic and oily goodness, it was so much fun sharing this and enjoying that garlic burn together. As the meal ended, we opted for tres leches and a cortadito to bring our energy back to us! The tres leches was so moist and flavor-packed. Dare I say the best one I've had to date? The cortadito was the perfect balance of coffee flavor and sweetness. This is my new favorite restaurant in Denver. We were visiting for a work convening at a hotel nearby and we walked here mainly because of the reviews and the place did not disappoint! It's a super cute small restaurant but with three different seating areas an an outdoor seating space. The food, drinks & dessert were amazing! I particularly enjoyed the empanadas & the salpicon. I ordered the ropa vieja but I think that one needed a little more flavor for my taste. The congri & yuca frita were really great but my favorite was the flan & the tres leches de chocolate! My friend and I were looking for a place to eat and she suggested this place & said it was one of her favorite places to eat in Denver. We came here on a Tuesday evening around 6 PM and was immediately seated in the dining room. This place is so cute and lively. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with providing recommendations. We decided to do family style and ordered the following: -Empanada - Shredded Beef (Ropa Vieja) -Croquetas de jamon -Side of plantains -Lechon asado Everything was delicious. My favorite was probably the empanada. The crust was perfectly baked and the filling was flavorful and moist. The lechon asado was a second favorite. We call this location Grandma's House. There are other Cuba Cuba locations in town which we enjoy, but Grandma's House is special! The bar area is fun and energetic, the house has several rooms, all with a great vibe and they have an outdoor patio. We've gone with groups and passed the dishes to have a smaller of everything which is a great way to enjoy a meal. The servers and ambiance give a feeling like we are at home surrounded by family! There is an extended menu that is more oriented towards dinner options and their bartenders always hit it out of the park. And free parking in front of the restaurant! read more

Out table had 3 legs instead of 4 so no balance and if you leaned on it just right, it spilled your drinks over! Really bad. put those tables in the dumpster NOW and PLEASE! The food is good but the menu is not exciting. They need more variety and they definitely need to rotate and change things up. This place could be so much more. Came here for my husband's birthday a few weeks ago. I think he had been to either this or another location before and really enjoyed it, and it was my first time. We got a table right away in the larger back room and it had a cute vibe (I loved the feathery overhead lights) - kind of that living roomy restaurant vibe. Our waiter was friendly and answered several questions for us. We just got water here and ordered some empanadas for appetizers. They were pretty good, not amazing, but good for an app. For dinner, I got the ropa vieja (pretty much what I always get at Cuban places) and thought it was great. Nice mixes of flavors, beef cooked well, good rice + beans. For dessert, we shared a small, but amazingly delicious vanilla orange flan. Definitely recommend that - hard to go wrong with flan. Overall enjoyed the meal. Took a star off because the prices are pretty steep here. $27 for ropa vieja seemed a bit high to me although looking back at the place we used to go in CT, their ropa vieja is $25 now so maybe things have just gone up in price and I am still cheap and longing for the prices of 2012. Also I had to use the bathroom during dinner which was downstairs. As I started walking down it smelled *awful* to the point I had to hold my breath. What an awesome place! The food was very similar to how my family makes it. We enjoyed a few drinks, but the food was really amazing. We had two of their empanadas and we were still talking about it the day after. The moro rice was great, but I do wish they had congre (with the bacon and peppers). Their Cuban sandwich was just like the ones from my childhood and really took me back, with the only difference being they cut the pickles the short way (circles) vs the long way (super thin, long slice). The ropa vieja was also a huge hit, with the only difference there being that we make it with a few green olives. The servers were awesome and attentive and the seating had a cool vibe that was very comfortable. I am definitely coming back here and will try more of my favorites. read more

Be aware that their Uber Eats system may not work. We placed 2 orders and they were never prepared. Either the system didn't work or they never checked it. After I arrived to pick them up 40 mins after placing them, they couldn't find them but coincidentally the orders "just popped up on their system" after they looked for them. They asked me to wait since they needed to start cooking them! No apologies, didn't offer to make it better, not even offered to take a sit or a glass of water, nothing. They must've thought I was an Uber driver, well I was the PATRON. They need to train their hostess on better etiquette and not to make assumptions. Even if I was a delivery driver, I deserved to be treated better. Complete disregard for one's time and utter lack of courtesy. Thank you but no thank you, I'm not going to wait 1 hr and a half to pick up an order. After being 30 mins on the chat with Uber Eats, they finally agreed to cancel them penalty free. As someone who lived in Miami for 8 years, I was thrilled to have Cuban food walking distance from my house! The food was a great quality and the vibes were perfect. Cuba Cuba is in an old house and so fun. The patio looks awesome on a nice summer afternoon. We enjoyed everything but the mojitos and croquettes were the stars of the show! Came for the cubana, stayed for the vibes. This spot is so so cute - a really great spot for a date night, or friend dinner. Large seating area with great service. The food was solid. The appetizers and drinks were the highlights for us. The yuca fries were probably my favorite dish. They were SO crispy and flavorful. The empanadas were solid with the highlight being the habanero crema sauce. The croquetas were decent but I'm not a croqueta fan in general. Moving on to the drinks, we were so happy they made a lot of their cocktails n/a so we could get a fancy drink without consuming alcohol. We got an n/a mojito and n/a piña colada and they both hit harddddd. As far as the entries, we may have been too full to really enjoy them but they didn't hit quite as hard as the apps. The cubana was good but nothing out of this world. The plantains I got on the side were KILLER though. I can't speak on the ropa vieja bc my friend ordered it. 5/5! I can't believe I've never been here before. The spot is tucked away, near Denver Health off of Speer. And this is a great spot to go for a date or to catch up with friends. There is a huge drink menu ft. mojitos, daiquiris, margaritas, sangria, wine, beer - really anything you could want. They also have a variety of Cuban coffees. If you've never had a Cuban coffee, it is a small cup that will kick in the butt and it is just the best ever! For those that are nonalcoholic, they have lemonade and Cuban sodas. The food was heavenly and the experience was made even better by our extremely personable server. For apps- Don't skip on the plantain chips or the mojo fries. The garlic butter sauce is heavenly! I was with a group of five, and we ordered most of the entrées and shared. Everything was equally delicious! You can't go wrong here. The wait time between being seated and being served is a bit long, and the table seated after us got served first, but everyone was friendly and attentive overall. The food was very garlicky, which we love, but wanted to give a heads up to those who are not big garlic fans. I got the vaca frito and he got the paella. Mine came with sautéed onions with the meat, rice and beans, and plantains. The black beans lacked flavor. They needed salt. The beef also lacked a punch, but I ordered it with a side chimichurri which was very flavorful! His paella was over cooked. All the meat in it was dry or rubbery, but the flavor was good. I had been coming here for years and moved and when I came back Cuba Cuba was first on my list. Was so disappointed the dish I craved wasn't being served but only Tuesdays and Weds now. Didn't see that online cause I would have gone somewhere else. So tried the fresh fish it was okay. They need to find a better recipe for Sangria. No taste but red wine and I think just an orange rind and maraschino cherry was it. Had another dish that we thought was a bit dry. Use to be 1 of my favorites in Denver but now feels like a lot of other Denver restaurants, over priced and underwhelming food. Too bad they use to be a gem. Met owner years ago who brought us over some dessert that was fantastic. Ambiance is good but when folks bring dogs and kids in strollers, feels like a sardine can. Good service read more
