Found it by chance during a trip. Service was friendly and the waiter helped me pick my plate . I had the ropa vieja plate. It was flavorful and it came with plantains in a way I've never had, flat and with a bit of salt. Different but good. I always try to experiment with new places when I visit home and to my surprise, Denver has Cuban food. I went during mid afternoon during the week so it wasn't busy at all. The staff was attentive and quickly took my order. The tostones came out hot and flavored well. I also had a half Cuban with rice and beans. My favorite Cuban sandwich is from a shop in Ft Lauderdale but this is one of the better ones I've had. It was the perfect spot to get a bite and enjoy a little down time. The pan con bistec was good and has a good crunch, but was slightly dry. The vaca said it was a "skirt steak" so I assumed the texture would be slightly different. This is more of a pulled/stewed meat texture and it was both super dry AND extremely oil-ly. I did not like it. The flavor is there but texture is off and too much oil. You could tell it was gonna be good when it was lunch time and it was very busy. Cozy and chill Cuban vibes in this little spot. The food was so comforting and full of flavor. The staff were super friendly and helpful when it came to recommendations. They shine with the roasted pork which was so tender and juicy. The Vaca Frita was delicious, nice salty crust to the meat. The black beans were some of the best Cuban beans. A subtle sweetness to them. And the shoestring fries with a garlic mojo on top were superb. No ketchup needed. My friends brought me here before dropping me off at the airport. This is the first time I've had Cuban food and....I'M IN LOVE. I loved trying my friends dishes and my flat steak and rice and cassava was amazing. The appetizer fries and mariquitas (sp?) Were amazing. I was seriously impressed by this place when I dropped in for lunch the other day. It was between Cuba Cuba and Torchy's, and I definitely made the right decision (no offense, Torchy's). First of all, everyone who helped me was incredibly friendly and helpful. My Cafe con Leche was yummy and gave me the kick I needed to make it through the rest of my day and my Pan con Pollo was So Good. Really good. Like if I could I'd eat another one right now. I ate half and had to force myself to put the other half in a box for later. I also had the tostones- because I gave a tostones problem (I can't pass them up) yum. Mmmm.... I was craving Cuban food and have been wanting to come to Cuba Cuba for years. It's nice there's other locations open since the original is so hard to get into. Positives: was not crowded since we got there early. I like the bar stools against the garage door windows. Food is outstanding. The slow roasted pork is out of this world. And I do not like cubanas. But this one I really liked. Fries are great nice and skinny. Plantain chips are so good. Drinks are great especially on happy hour. The Cuba Cuba margaritas are my favorite. Now the negative: $3.50 for a side of guacamole? And the croquette... $1.75 for one tiny croquette which was not good. Dipping sauces for plantain chips are really good too. I am being really kind in the rating. I am reading everyone else, and they seem to love it. Overall they have 4.4 which really surprises me. I got the pan con pollo, asked if it was good, asked her if she liked it. She said Yes. I then also got the plantains with mojo just to see how they were. The sandwich was super boring. Being Cuban, I thought there would be some sort of sauce, but nope. Just the chicken, lettuce, grilled onions, etc. Zero sauce. And Zero flavor. The plantains would have been flat out "Nope" if I hadn't gotten the mojo, but honestly that also was a bit over the top with the garlic. And, yes, I love garlic and I don't think I have ever said anything was too garlicky. Maybe because that was literally all I tasted. Anyway, I still gave them 4 stars because there are too many good reviews and I am guessing that maybe it's me. The people were nice, I'll give them that. And it has a nice open air ambience. I opted for the Combination: 1/2 sandwich plus two sides (lots of options). For my sandwich I selected the Cubano, and for my sides I selected fried yuca and fried plantains. Everything was delicious. Huge kudos for the amazing, soft bread they use for their sandwiches. Service was friendly and didn't delay (for a takeout order).
