The restaurant was very clean. The staff was very friendly and it's some of the best Cuban food I've had in Atlanta.

A very small quaint place and great food made fresh to order . Food does take some time to come out since it is made to order so give a little extra time . Never have had Cuban food before so have nothing to compare it to so this is a first impression on Cuban food . We ordered 2 different soups and 2 different plates to try out . Everything was extremely flavorful almost to the point of to much . The food had so much flavor it was like pow right to the taste buds . Just ok. I will say it smelled so clean when you walk in, you know they keep up with that end of the business. It's nothing fancy on the inside, but has a Cuban vibe. The menus are so outdated (and lots of typos) that we asked what the lunch specials were and we were told they haven't had those for a long time. Our food took a bit, but I'm ok with that so that I know it's freshly made, but it was disappointing. I'm no expert on Cuban food, but the roll seemed like a regular roll kind of pressed and just wasn't as good as another placed we loved. We love this intimate, locally owned restaurant that has been here for years. The staff is attentive, and the food is delicious. Today we had both beef and chicken empanadas (they are big!), and Cuban sandwiches. The Cuban comes with delicious rice and beans. I had a latte and the Cuban coffee is great too. I really wish when locally owned restaurants had issues hiring people they could find ways to make it work. Where both the business and customers are happy. Simplify the menu. Reduce hours to high times only. Make sure every person who walks in is acknowledged and greeted-even if it's a holler across the place. But that didn't happen here. I walked in at noon-figured it would be darn busy and take a while. I'm patient and was willing to wait. The sign that said understaffed, cued me in that it might take even longer. Ok. No worries. My expectations were set to low. There were about 5 tables w two folks each. I saw zero food or drinks at any of the tables. There was another lady seated on a bench waiting for her takeout. She had already ordered-I asked. The place had tiny tvs on some random stations on the walls, tons of handwritten signs and cuban music playing. Lots of tchotchkes and crap everywhere. It's hard to know where to look to find a wall menu or where to order. There isn't one. You have to ask. But nobody is there to ask. Sooooo. You don't come here for the ambience CLEARLY. lol You come for the food. But you also CLEARLY do not come here for good service either. Someone who works there, walked by me-gave me a dirty look and said not one word to me while walking back into the kitchen. I totally get being frazzled and overworked-but not even greeting me is just barbaric. This is a service industry. I can eat anywhere. And I can also be patient and understanding! But at least say hello. So. I walked around trying to find the menu. Or how to order. Finally asked the lady on the bench for help. I was looking over the menu and as I was, one of the couples waiting got up and left. I overheard the guy quietly saying to his friend that 20 mins without ANY acknowledgment to being there was long enough to wait. That couple GAVE this place a solid chance. I continued to look around. Place looked dirty. Nobody looked happy. Nobody had food or drinks. At that point, I figured I could eat at home. Not worth waiting here in this sad sad frowny face place. I am wondering why the owners stay in business if they are struggling so much w hires. Maybe they need to look inward. Perhaps their own attitude & the way they treat customers and their staff is a reason why they cannot keep servers. Just a thought. I know keeping servers these days is hard. But again, figure it out. Problem solve. Is the food any good here? Who knows. They have a good menu w lots of choices that look delicious. But how am I supposed to order black bean soup and a pork sandwich if nobody even takes my order? Or any other person in this place? Were there like 2 people working today? Why open? I am still looking for a solid cuban place. Sad that in an area this populated there is no decent cuban. We lived in SC and had the most epic, high quality cuban food to eat. Tropical Grille just set the standard high for us. Clean. Decent service. Amazing food. It was buffet style. So maybe this place should change their serving style? Whatever. I tried it. I stopped in this small Cuban restaurant on a Sunday evening around 7:30pm and didn't get my meal until almost 8:30pm. Although the service was very slow, the food was decent. The staff was pleasant and they worked very hard. Aside from the wait time, I enjoyed my meal and that's the most important part of eating out. I think this place is worth visiting. read more

So delicious ! We stopped in for lunch on Saturday and order some Cuban sandwiches. The restaurant is kind of hidden on Buford road in Cumming. I had a Cuban sandwhich with fries and I loved it. The Cuban was crunchy but yet so easy to eat. The food took longer than usual because it is cooked to order but I have no complaints considering it tasted phenomenal. read more

I was more than disappointed when I saw the Cuban dishes that I ordered for tonight's dinner. Understandable the economy is not the best these days... Nevertheless I felt robbed and taking advantage of,18.00 dollars per dish!!! The dishes included a small cup of rice, few small fried plantains and 2 tostones. I am tired of restaurants taking advantage and overcharging for meals that are not worth the value. I will never order from this restaurant again and I'll definitely not recommend this place to anyone. You are better off getting fast food! read more

I should have never ordered a burger from a Cuban joint but if it's on the menu it should at least be somewhat edible and not a bricked meat puck. The black beans and yellow rice was pretty good although others in my party complained of hard grains. The boiled and fried pork chunks seem somewhat good but had a lot of fat and not a lot of flavor. Also it was a very small portion. Last week we had just read in the Forsyth Cty News that Coco's in Cumming had a Cuban that was in the top 100 fav locals place in all of GA. With that we had to try this out. Pretty bold to claim one of the best 100 meals for locals in GA so I took my mom there for her first Cuban. We came on a Saturday round 2pm and the place was not full so was looking forward to a good meal without a wait. We sat pretty quick and ordered some Tea and had a look at the menu. We started with some sweet plantains and then both had the Cuban with the rice and beans- suggested by the paper. It took a bit of time to get the food and the service was quite slow, but the meal came out and a great looking sandwich was on the plate. Both of us made of mix of the rice and beans which I thought were quite good then dove into the Cuban. I have to say the Cuban was also very good with good crunchy bread and good size as well. It was a true cuban. My mother loved it and I was happy she got to have a good meal and something new. This is a small place, looked to have a good repeat crowd and maybe 10-12 tables and an area in the back I didn't go back to check out. The atmosphere was quiet, and the chairs were a bit hard but we did enjoy our meal. I can't say it's one of the best local favs in GA, but if you want a Cuban and your in Cumming, this is where to go. read more

Stopped by CoCo's today for a Cuban Sandwich. It was good, but they the sandwich was a bit skimpy on the meat. Just one thin slice of ham and a single layer of pork and one slice of cheese through the sandwich. Other cuban restaurants i've been to usually have much more meat. It came with Black Beans and Rice. For the price paid, I would have expected more meat in the sandwich, but it tasted good. read more

A Cuban sandwich shop serving traditional favorites such as Cuban Sandwiches and Bistek Pallomilla, as well as a few inspired twists, such as the Tropical Cheeseburger. I didn't see anything priced over $10. There isn't much for vegetarians, but this is not unusual in Cuban cuisine. Owner made a great pressed cheese sandwich, served with rice and beans. Not a fan of having black beans served on yellow rice though. The environment is casual, music is lively and loud. The waitresses are super friendly, and surprisingly all Gringas. No alcohol is served. I have not tried the desserts but the Pasteles de Guayaba y Queso looked perfect, i may be back just to grab a few of these. Overall good food, good service, good music. Fantastic food and low prices served up hot and fresh in an authentic Cuban Cafe setting. CoCo's Cuban in Cumming is a real gem if you love Cuban food. Walking inside the door will immediately take you to Little Havana in Miami. The inside of the establishment is immaculate while being decorated in bright, vibrant colors. The mouthwatering aroma from the kitchen will make you hungry to try everything. We have stopped here on two occasions, once on a Saturday morning for a Cuban Coffee and one Saturday evening for dinner. On both our trips the underlying theme was excellent food with incredibly slow service. On the trip for our Cuban coffee, we were the only ones in the restaurant around two on a Saturday afternoon. There was one person in the kitchen and one server. Despite the low volume of customers, it took us 22 minutes to receive our coffee. Our second visit was on a Saturday evening finding a large crowd with steady streams of people coming in. On this night there was a man and woman in the kitchen along with a young man in the dining room who brought drinks and was busing tables as quickly as people got up to leave. There was also a lady in the dining room who took orders and brought out food as it was ready. We ordered the Cuban Sandwich which surprised us by being served with a side of yellow rice and black beans. Incredible value as we usually pay a few dollars more for just the sandwich alone at many other places. Everything we ordered was great, the sandwich was pressed and had what we think were bread and butter pickles, a little different than most Cubans we have had in Florida. Excellent flavor on everything with large portion size. The only thing keeping this from being a FIVE-star review would be the time for service. Our trip was over an hour for two sandwiches and much of that time spent waiting for our check. Bottom line: The food and the atmosphere is definitely worth the time, and we will return to try many of the other dishes they have on their full menu.
