This is probably the best place to go to dinner in the Graeagle area. We always enjoy it the one time of year we go there. We always sit outside in the patio, because it's much more enjoyable than being inside. This year, I was disappointed; not by the food but by the staff. They got our order wrong several times, but they made up for their mistakes by fixing them. My family and I understood, it was a busy Sunday night. What I thought was not okay at all was the hostess and/or manager's attitude toward my party. We were finishing our dessert, and I could tell she kept looking our way as if checking if we were almost done. Finally, she came over to our table to give us the check. We were looking over it, found they hadn't charged us for an item, let her know that, and she said it was on the house. We all got a feeling she did this to get us out ASAP. The waitress came, took the check then brought it back. We were in the process of filling out the receipt, when the manager returned again and told us, "I have a group waiting..." She then proceeded to explain how her morning staff had overbooked the patio area and that's why it was too crowded, etc. We got up and were walking out when we overheard her telling the waiting group, "Your table is almost ready, it's being cleaned up. The party before you was being too chatty." I didn't say anything to her because I don't like conflict. My family and I felt like this was rude to say about other customers and to lie to the waiting group. We were literally only there for ONE HOUR & FIFTEEN MINUTES. We were certainly not there to chat it up but more so to enjoy the food, which is delicious. In the future, I hope staff can be better at booking the patio AND/OR the hostess/manager is better at doing her job and not lying to her customers. She basically kicked us out. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. Let's start with the good. The building is super cute and the interior is well done. They have a small dining area outside that is surrounded by a screen, so you avoid the bugs in the evening! The pizza is also great. I love the sourdough crust. They have a decent wine selection for such a small place, with a good variety. Now time for the not so great... Sadly, the food (besides the pizza) was a bit lacking. Everything I've gotten has been... wet. Almost like it was previously frozen, then heated up and served. Being gluten-free can be challenging, especially when visiting small towns. After hearing about Cuccia's for years, I finally stopped by and it was amazing! Our waitress was well-versed on gluten-free choices and my meal was fantastic. The wine selection and prices can't be beat and I am anxious to visit again. Enjoyed dinner on the patio several nights during our stay at the Lodge at Nakoma. Fortunately we made reservations each night as they were very busy. Excellent service and a variety of housemade Italian dishes. My favorite appetizer was the Garlic Dip. Roasted whole garlic cloves in olive oil and topped with blues cheese. Chicken Gorgonzola Fettuccine was outstanding. It was our 8 year old granddaughters favorite restaurant for her Butter Noodles. Excellent wine selection, bottles are half price on wednesday nights. We are local residents and come here frequently. The two stars represent our experience tonight and don't reflect the quality of the food. We had a reservation and arrived on time. We were seated promptly, but did not see our server for almost twenty minutes. There were several loud large parties which seemed to have everyone consumed. Our food came promptly and was very good as always. Once we were finished it was another twenty minutes before we,got the check which we had to ask for. We never saw our server once the meal was delivered. I think we will wait until summer is over and the tourists are gone before we return. read more

I'm not going to say this is the most amazing Italian food ever ... let's face it, we're in the Sierras. But the location is absolutely lovely. If you can, sit on the outside patio - it's screened in, so no pesky bugs while eating, views are beautiful, and nice pillows for your back if you are seated at the benches around the sides. Excellent food and excellent service. We didn't have reservations and they were super busy, being the one nice restaurant open in town on a Tuesday night. So they were honest, we could do appetizers/salads/pizzas right away, or make a reservation for an hour later. I really appreciated the honesty and the committment to providing everyone with a quality meal and not overloading the staff. Wow! What a pleasant surprise to find a nice cozy little Italian/Sicilian restaurant in Graeagle. My GF and I were hungry after quaffing some tasty brews at the Brewing Lair so we decided on a hidden little gem - Cuccia's. We wanted to try out a little bit of everything on the menu so we started with the Shrimp Scampi for an app and it was delicious and fresh and served on sourdough bread - something different. The next course was a Ceasar salad which we shared and it had just the right amount of dressing but could have used some more shards of parmigiano cheese - I can never have enough! A artichoke heart and shrimp pizza was next in line up and it had fresh and tasty crust with just enough sauce and cheese. For the entrée, I chose the Special - Raviolis - homemade with a tasty cheese filling and light sauce (I can't remember exactly) was incredible and my GF had the Pesto Pasta with Chicken and was not disappointed. Very clean tasting pesto with strips of chicken cooked just right and it was a huge portion! The meal ended with the finale - Tiramisu and it was one of the best I've ever had and I've tasted many over the years! So I raved about the food, but the best experience was being served by a very friendly, ambitious and hard working staff of young waiters and bussers. They were efficient and outgoing but not overbearing or inexperienced in their presentation or service. We even got to met the Chef in training and the working sous chefs too! An update to last year's review: recently went to Cuccias and had a very delicious and authentic dinner, little wait between courses, very professional and engaging waitstaff. This is a happy change from last year and I encourage locals and visitors to enjoy a lovely dinner at Cuccias. We had Veal Parm and Lassagna- I highly endorse both meals. This location used to be the Mohawk Cafe. We drove into town from the campgrounds we were staying in to find that the ownership and name had changed. And while we'd had a great experience at the Mohawk Cafe in the past, we were not at all disappointed to be dining at Cuccia's (pronounced KOO-cha's) instead. We chose to be seated on the screened deck since it was a nice night. The screens were most helpful in keeping the bugs out and the breeze was very enjoyable. Though we were outside, the interior did look warm and inviting with a couple of tables that might even be considered "cozy" or even "intimate" - particularly in the wine bar area. My BF and I shared a Eureka Peak pizza and it was scrumptious, with grilled chicken and lovely soft roasted garlic cloves. Oh, the breath we had! But it was worth it. A small probably would have fed us both, but the medium allowed us to have some to take back with us for breakfast the next morning! Nothing like refreshing the garlic breath first thing in the morning... The dessert menu offered several tempting choices, including a tiramisu-gelato sundae that I was dying to try. Unfortunately they were out of the vanilla gelato, and for some reason my BF was more in the mood for cheesecake than tiramisu, so that's what we ended up with. It was excellent cheescake though. Our server Audie was friendly, helpful and efficient. She was cute - I told her they'd be getting a great Yelp review and she didn't know what Yelp was. I guess Plumas is a bit removed from the fast-paced, plugged-in world that I'm used to. But that's what makes it great. And country folk can be refined too, even without knowing what Yelp is :P So OK, to cap off our visit, we got the bill. For the two of us plus sodas and dessert it came to only $31! We kept checking and rechecking to make sure we'd been charged for everything. Yep, we had. Overall I think most of the items there are priced fairly appropriately, but somehow we came away feeling like we really got a deal on the meal. The pizza in particular seemed like a great price for what could be considered "gourmet" pizza. We also got to speak with the owner a bit - though I heard it was supposed to be her day off. We learned that her plan is to offer espresso drinks as soon as she can find a commercial espresso machine for the place. That would definitely round out their menu nicely. This place has wonderful pizza! It's only open seasonal and when open its busy. Reservations are pretty much required unless you get lucky or dine late. We only ordered pickup dining because we could never plan far enough to get a table. So no idea about service. Pricing is in line with all the other good restaurants in area. We showed up right at our reservations time at 7pm. Got seated by the manager/owner who said she need to get menu's from outside. We ending up getting our own menu's after waiting for 19 minutes. We did get water from the bus boy during this time. Once we placed our drink order, then about 10 more minutes our waitress showed up. Placed our order for dinner finished our drinks had to put them as closes to the end of the table so someone could see them. They were empty for about 15 minutes before they asked if we wanted more. Finally got dinner which luckily it was good and left about 845pm. It was our 4th time there and our adult son's first time. It was the worst customer service I have had in a very long time anywhere. This is by far the best Italian restaurant on the planet! Tucked away in a corner of Graeagle/Mohawk/Blairsden. The food is exceptional, fresh, and homemade. Great rustic Italian food prepared and served by a friendly family in the middle of nowhere. The location is a little off as this is actually in Graeagle rather than Plumas. The food is simple italian fare well executed, with good ingredients: - the meat is locally sourced grass fed so great veal and beef. Autumn time in Graeagle, most places are only open on the weekends. Cuccia's was one of the few open on Wednesday night, so we made reservations and were promptly seated. Service was friendly and professional and hyper-efficient. By the time we left the waiting area was overflowing, so they have to keep the tables turning over -- which we understand but we did feel slightly rushed. We were quite happy with our entrees -- Linguini with Clams, Veal Scaloppini and Chicken Saltimbocca. Very flavorful, not heavy, and piping hot. While vacationing in Graeagle we had a couple of mediocre meals at restaurants nearby so we asked around for recommendations and were told that we had to try Cuccia's. It was a Thursday night and they were packed (note: it's best to make reservations) but they were able to get us in. The service was wonderful. Our young waiter, Davidson, was friendly, knowledgable, and attentive. Great wine list. And the food was outstanding! Everything was fresh, perfectly cooked, and delicious. We ate here with our son and daughter-in-law while they were visiting from the Bay Area between Christmas and New Years. We were all very impressed with the quality of the food. Three of us got dinner entrees, and I got a small pizza. Everything was delicious, and the service was friendly and timely. They also have a very good selection of wines. What a delight to find this restaurant near our campsite! Most of the other places were closed on a Tuesday night, but this one was open and hopping. I'd recommend making a reservation in summer if you are eating past 6:00 pm. We had the gorgonzola pasta/chicken dish and it was delicious! We did a split and had their tasty homemade zuchini and herb soup and Caesar salad. The bread was wonderful and the dipping sauce of olive oil and balsamic and herbs was very tasty. It overlooks a therapeutic riding stable, so we got to watch the horses in the pasture while we were eating. They also have a nice wine selection and we enjoyed a bottle with dinner. The service is amazing. They have a crew of young people who are very attentive to your every need. Our total bill for all of this was only $63, with a $30 bottle of good wine. read more

I want to preface this by saying I am a general manager of the same Italian Establishment for 23 years. This place does a brisk business, it is always busy from the time they open to right before closing. The service warrants this for the most part, as we were served promptly. The food came out quickly and looked good. The problem was that is tasted so not home made. The two pizzas had a very frozen pizza type taste, were not cooked all the way (the Sierra was extremely undercooked. The spaghetti Meatball was sub par, the sauce very canned, the meatball the highlight, but not that much of one. We serve a Caesar at the place I run, for $7.50, that was the exact same size and was $13. We make our dressing with Anchovies, Olive Oil, Garlic, Black Pepper and Lemon Juice. Burr mixed, Home made! It tastes that way. Their dressing pales in comparison, bland. Their croutons are not house baked, but rather Safeway-like. Boxed. We get our croutons from a local bakery where we get our bread, and they taste and look like they come from a real bakery. Not a shelf at Safeway. Overpriced, mediocre food normally gets you no where, but in Graeagle, at which we love to vacation, there seems to be a plethora of older, retired/vacationers that have zero palate for excellent or even passing grade Italian food. I am happy that their business does well, I root for all restaurants, but wonder how the f.... this place is so busy. Again service was good, the Bartender was a bit stressed and the food came out quickly and was poor. Note: This place takes reservations and call they take them months in advance. I wanted to like this place so much more, we (wife) will not return. She had an even poorer grade for the food. read more

I always enjoy eating here because the ingredients are fresh, the wait staff attentive, and the chef very accommodating. I am gluten intolerant, and it would have been a mistake for me to dine here as it is an Italian restaurant, but I brought my rice pasta and they gladly made the Salmon pasta recipe with my pasta, no questions asked! Once, a wait person made a mistake with our order, and made it right by serving us a sample of dessert wine. as a semi-local (part time in Reno and part time in Graeagle) we eat at Cuccia's often - sometimes take-home, other times in the restaurant. Gina is great, wait-staff is great. Great indoor and outdoor seating options, or, sit at the bar - all comfortable. Most of the food we've had has been terrific. There are times that it takes a bit to get seated or waited on, but this is a small, local establishment, and often is very crowded, so go in with realistic expectations. Make reservations if you need to be in/out in a hurry. Otherwise, go in, take your time and enjoy the wonderful local location, people, and great food, and have a great time! read more
