I made a purchase of approx. $500 from this company in November. Big Mistake! After ordering, I was automatically signed up for $14.95 per month service that gave me 10% off on cuddledown purchases. To break even I would have to be making purchases of $1495 per month. I called to get the charge reversed and it is very clear from the call that many people are calling to get this charge taken off credit card. I called another number for customer service to express my reaction to this deceptive practice. The individual I spoke to had no number for customer service complaints and thanked me for calling. They actually have great linens, but their prices are 2 to 4 times any other manufacturer and dealing with them direct is a complete disaster. They unapologetically just let it sit around for days if not weeks before bothering to ship out your order for which they charge an excessive "express" premium shipping charge. Horrible Company to do business with. Update: After promising to fix it, and showing one sheet or the other going in and out of stock multiple times for over a month, they finally sent the order by the slowest ground method possible. Nearly a 5 week wait. Nice sheets. In the end with no comment from anyone - ever - they refunded our shipping and took $50.00 of of our $225.00 order. But if you actually want and need your order in a reasonable period of time (we really did) or wanted any actual customer service I think Cuddledown would be the last place to order from. read more

I placed an order for a comforter on 1/2/18, but canceled within the hour because I ordered the wrong one. I then ordered the correct one, (over $1000) to be sent to my daughter. Two weeks later, I get an email saying "ooops, the comforter was delivered after the cancellation." Called the company, and was told we could keep it or return for a refund. Only problem is, the comforter hasn't even arrived. I've been charged for it already! I then asked about the second, correct one, and the agent said that they didn't ship it out because they had to confirm the shipping address, and didn't I get a letter from them mailed on 1/3/18? The letter hasn't arrived yet, buy why didn't they email me?? I confirm the address and he says they'll ship immediately. Puts me on hold and then says it's on back order, delivery date unknown!! Do I still want it? I ask to speak to a supervisor and they transfer me to voice mail. Three days later, still no return call. THEY ARE PLAYING GAMES!! I estimate I've spent over $7,000 on comforters from this company in the past. My credit card was charged $14.95 membership for being a Cuddledown VIP. I did not recall giving my credit card no out and consiciously enrolling a chargeable club membership with a one month trial period. And I was totally unware of the $14.95 fee. I did however purchase online some bedsheet and pillow case 2 months ago. I was charged unknowingly a membership. The customer service said I separately signed up to the VIP website. And I said I did not know it had a membership fee and the amount. I meant to look up my order details from cuddledown websites because only one pillowcase was shipped to me instead of a pair and I didn't have the invoice with me anymore. I got landed on this VIP site. I dispute this repetitive monthly fee and please DO not debit from my credit card!!! I had not authorized it. Why can't they make everything blatantly clear - can't help feeling cheated! It is not the amount, it is the practice that I feel disgusted. I haven't used any of VIP service (for the record). First of all, one pair of pillowcases became one pillowcase for $59 and customer service told me the quantity on website was quoted incorrectly. Well I said fix it to say "one single" instead of "one pair" Look, I paid over $300 for just one queen size bedsheet and pillowcases. I agree with all the other reviewers who said this company's customer service is severely lacking. I've been on the phone multiple times with them to sort out multiple problems. For example, I ordered and paid for towels and only AFTER that I was informed that the towels were on backorder, and the company couldn't tell me when they'd arrive. On top of all that, their towels are just ok. I returned them because the colors didn't look in person quite how they looked online, which is not a problem I've had with other companies, so I don't think it's my computer. The towels give off TONS of lint, too. I returned the towels a MONTH ago and still haven't received the refund. I called and was told I'd get the refund in three business days. Didn't happen. I AM NEVER PURCHASING FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN! I had been waiting years to save for a Cuddledown blanket. After finally choosing to purchase one, I found that the company had some products on Amazon so I ordered one off of there for faster shipping. When I received my comforter, it was of very low quality - very flat, dirty, and not puffy whatsoever. I decided to request a return of this product to receive a refund so that I could purchase a different comforter from Cuddledown, my mistake. It took 3 days for the Cuddledown representative to reach out to me, and when they did, they were extremely vague and rude. They told me it was my fault for ordering the blanket that I didn't like. It took over a week to receive a return label from them, in which they told me they charge a $15 restocking fee to even return the product. Once I got the label they told me that they scheduled a FedEx pick-up THE VERY NEXT DAY, very little time to get the package ready for shipment. I put my comforter out for FedEx pick-up the next morning (they didn't tell me what time FedEx would be picking it up), and after a short time of being on my porch, the package was stolen. I contacted Cuddledown customer support and they were EXTREMELY rude, and told me they would not issue a refund without the product being received at their location in Yarmouth, ME, not even taking into consideration my situation of the stolen product. CUDDLEDOWN CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST I'VE DEALT WITH. DO NOT PURCHASE A PRODUCT WITH THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU ARE SURE YOU WILL NOT BE RETURNING THE PRODUCT! Bought the OS Queen down comforter rated summer for our master bedroom. I live in southern CA so wanted something not too warm for summer but not too heavy for winter. The duvet we had was an odd size - thought it was CA King size but found out it was really OS Queen. This comforter is super nice. It came in a nice comforter bag/box. The cover is excellent quality white crisp cotton. Upon shaking, no feathers or down came out unlike cheaper comforter brands. It fit our duvet cover perfectly - size was exactly as advertised. The air vents throughout the cover really do make a difference and keep the body heat regulated. If you like luxury and quality, look no further. read more

The shams were nothing more than pillow cases, and had a bit of an odor, which was unexpected.The part the rankled me though, was learning that a fee was going to be deducted from my refund. I've bought two of their throws, polyester filled with a satin blanket trim. I love them. What I don't love is their VIP club that I was thrown into, being charged $14.95 a month on my Visa. They offer it to you free for one month. I must have accepted an offer to be in this club, not realizing that I would be charged each month. Who wants to spend $180.00 a year to save money? Really? And when I called customer service I was told they would cancel my membership. I had to ask customer service to refund my Visa for the two months charged. Cuddledown used to have the best flannel sheets. 20 years ago, the German flannel sheets I bought from them were perfect: thick, soft, and stayed that way through multiple washings. I wore them out. I have purchased their flannel sheets 2 or 3 times since, chasing that first experience, with declining quality with each subsequent one. The last set I bought (plus an additional flat sheet) were awful. They are also German flannel, but are the complete polar opposite of that first experience. I have tried everything I know to soften them up, but nothing works. It's SO disappointing! I can't find flannel sheets like that first set, at least in a queen size, ANYWHERE. :( UPDATE: I have been contacted by Cuddledown's customer service, and even all these years later, they care about my experience and are going to refund me the cost of the flannel sheets I was so disappointed about. Do not do business with this company! Purchased online a very expensive comforter. They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I have contacted the company 3 times, both by email and by phone, and they are not getting back to me to give me the refund promised if not satisfied. The quality of the blanket for the money is crap. my "comforter" is basically a $400 sheet, because the fill is totally displaced and completely worthless. Order from overstock, better quality, better customer service, better value. Will be contacting credit card company to file a complaint. Very disappointed. The order I placed was not due to be rec'd until after Jan. 15th which was fine as I was going to be away. Too disorganized and/or dishonest. I've lost faith in this company. I just don't trust them anymore, and doing business with them became too unpleasant and stressful. Not to mention, time-consuming and disappointing... A long time ago, Cuddledown was known for good-quality reasonably-priced basic down bedding items. I was a customer for several years. But things changed. Don't be fooled into thinking Cuddledown is a "family owned" business anymore -- it's actually part of a billion-dollar corporation called American Capital LTD. Customer service and website are misleading, especially when it comes to country-of-origin and other manufacturing details. Also, some of the customer service agents are extremely nasty and defensive, something I've never experienced with any other retailer. A couple typical examples: I purchased expensive bedding items on a couple occasions (which are supposed to be new and unused!), but received obviously old dirty and worn-out items in non-original packaging. I was able to exchange the items, but it was disgusting and a real shock and turnoff. On another occasion, I purchased two pillows. One arrived with insect carcasses inside the packaging with the pillow, which I returned due to concern about bedbugs. I sent it back for refund, and purchased a replacement. Months later, I discovered Cuddledown had double-charged me for the replacement. So I can't recommend Cuddledown as a retailer or manufacturer. I need several down items (comforters, pillows, etc), and I'm sad because I have no idea where to get good down bedding. I might look into outdoor equipment stores on the west coast, some of which have branched out from down sleeping bags to comforters and pillows. read more

Cuddledown deserves NO STARS but giving one because I want to make sure this is posted. I wished I would have more diligent researching this company. Down comforter was a Christmas gift ordered on 12/18 with a two-day express delivery. I did not receive the package until the morning of December 31, 2016. I called customer service on several occasions (12/20 & 12/23) and on both occasions, their customer service representative ASSURED me my order would arrive before Christmas. On or about 12/27/16, I received a call from Cuddledown telling me that the order was just shipped & I won't receive my order until 12/30/16. My reaction was of disbelief & total disappointment so I called its customer service & spoke with a Sean. I asked to speak w/manager. He told me the mgr was not available. I told him my situation. He put me on hold and then came back & informed me he spoke w/manager (earlier he said there were no managers available) & they couldn't do anything for me. Making all sorts of excuses why my order wasn't shipped on time, on and on and on..... At that point, I requested to speak with the manager directly. He said I couldn't speak with one. Then I asked for the contact # of a mgr. He adamantly refused my request. Instead he berated me by saying that that's what I get for ordering late during the holiday season. He was rude & unprofessional throughout my telephone contact with him. Suffice to say, this has been the worst customer service experience ever. The problem with Cuddledown is its commitment to its customer, THE LACK THEREOF. After my dealings with its customer service, I felt betrayed & duped. Stringing me along thinking that I was going to receive my order before Christmas!! The comforter is still in its original box. I have thoughts of returning the comforter back to Cuddledown but think not!! I know they will try to deceive me once again and I will be out with the shipping charge, the down comforter & $215 (the amount I paid for the comforter), not to mention the anger & aggravation. I placed an order on 12/9. When I called on 12/11 to see if I could change the shipping address, I was told the order had already shipped and I could not change the address. I called again on 12/16 to see if I could receive an email with the tracking number for the order, I was told the order had not shipped yet. I asked to cancel the order and was told I could not cancel it. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told she was on the line with another customer. I said I would hold, which I did for some time, then I was told I would be transferred, only to get a recording saying the number had been disconnected. I called back. The next agent said he could put a stop shipment, but could not guarantee it would be cancelled. I asked for a supervisor, was told she was on the other line, I said I would hold, which again I did. Agent came back on and said supervisor was available and he would transfer me. My call went to a voice mail. Don't buy from this company. They lie saying an order has been shipped when it had not, just so I could not cancel. Then I'm told the second time I could not cancel, but the next guy said I could put a stop shipment on it. Both time supervisor is on the other line and when becomes available, my call does not go through. So tired of poor customer service. Not for lack of employees, as I did speak to two different CS reps, but they have apparently been trained to not let customers cancel order. read more

Recently, I went into the store when visiting Maine and the folks there were wonderful to deal with and super helpful. Chester, the manager at the Freeport location spent nearly an hour with us to ensure we buy the stuff we need. Linda and Mandy were also extremely attentive to us and very informative with the items we purchased. Super nice people and a pleasure to deal with in person. Wow. I should have read this before buying my $175 pillow! Things are not working out for me at all. After a year the pillow has gone flat giving me major neck pains and getting a replacement using the lifetime warranty has been hell. Not only were some of the staff pretty unhelpful and borderline rude but I have been without the pillow I returned for over a month and there is no date in sight regarding when my replacement will arrive. When I placed the order on-line, the price came up at $99. I sent an email, and explained that I had placed an order for fitted sheets, item # Z3380. Although the catalog clearly states that the price is $59, it turns out that this item # is not unique. It identifies numerous items! What on earth? Although I ordered item #Z3380, it fulfilled a flat sheet in a different color. Their response? " You ordered the wrong item. Take a look at the website and you'll see the correct price." Oh how I wish I had read these reviews before placing an online order. The bottom line is STAY AWAY! The customer service is unfathomable to me in this day and age, and has only reaffirmed my love of places like Zappos, amazon, and Nordstrom. After placing a $650 order I was shocked that I would be charged for shipping (who charges for shipping on orders that size?), but I went with it because the product seemed good. When I realized that the pillow sham I had ordered was a single, not a pair, I called them to see if they would waive the shipping when I bought another sham. I made an honest mistake and thought it was a very reasonable request. Their response was that they would split shipping costs with me. Wow, how generous! You're only charging me $3.00 for the shipping after charging me $45 on the previous order. Really??? To make matters worse I had ordered the sham while it was on sale so I also asked if they could honor that sale price, but that was a resounding no. I was sent an email from Cuddledown inviting me to shop on their website and get a discount with free shipping. I attempted to purchase two items online. I could not put one of the items in the shopping cart as the website generated an error encouraging me to contact "customer service." I contacted "customer service." The representative said he could process my order over the phone but could not honor the discount offer with free shipping I was emailed. I was then transferred to a supervisor who reiterated there was nothing they could do despite the fault in their website. When I asked about who I could contact at their corporate offices to try to resolve this, she hung up on me. I emailed customer support with this story and have received no response to date. Cuddledown's prices are outrageously inflated and the ONLY reason I bought a set of their bamboo bath towels is because that specific brand was on the list of desired wedding shower gifts for a relative. The towels arrived at my house long after the shower AND the wedding. They were not in the pretty box as shown in the Cuddledown ad and still required my wrapping them and having them delivered to the newlyweds. Now I receive incessant emails and ads from Cuddledown when I did NOT ask to be on their mailing list. They ignore my requests to remove me from that list. Terrible cotton blanket and awful customer service that does not bother to respond to emails. A few months ago I purchased a cotton filled anti allergic blanket as I suffer from asthma and cannot use down. After very little use, the cotton fill is coming out and the white blanket has turned yellow. I have emailed customer service 3 times now. I get the automatic emails but nobody bothers to respond. This is probably one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. 1. I ordered a pillow from cuddledown.com, which they shipped to my billing address in MA, rather than my shipping address in CA. Their mistake, not mine. 2. I wrote an email letting them know of their mistake. No response. 3. I called, told them of their mistake, asked for a new pillow to be shipped to the correct address. No apology for the mistake, I was just told that the pillow is now sold out and transferred to the Freeport store. 4. I asked the Freeport store to order me a new pillow, plus for complimentary shipping on this pillow because of the online store's mistake. After waiting on hold for 20 mins., I was told they don't do complimentary shipping and that the pillow actually was in stock on the website and that they would transfer me back to place my order with them. At this point, I said no and hung up. There are plenty of pillow manufacturers in the world, and clearly Cuddledown doesn't value my time or business, so they won't be getting it. Despite being told I would get a full refund for the pillow I never received, I still haven't received a credit. I imagine i'll spend another 30 minutes on the phone with their horrendous customer service before I receive my money back. read more

Worst WORST ecommerce business I have encountered in years. It isn't 1990 Freeport, get with the program. I ordered from them twice and won't do it again. It takes weeks to receive items. As we speak my comforter is taking the Summer '15 tour of the upper western U.S. When I login to track my purchase, there is no link. I have to search every time for the shipping confirmation email. They use FedEx Smartpost, which adds about two to three times the shipping time it would take to simply use the post office. Customer service is about a dim as a human can get. I didn't even realize that they had signed me up for the VIP program until I read the reviews on here. I thought the charge was a return shipping fee. So lame. I'm contesting it with my bank and hope I can get my money back. The main reason I'm on here complaining is because of how long it took me to get my refund for my return. They received the return on 1/8/15. I didn't get my refund until 2/18/15. How is that legal? Holding onto my money for more than a month and a half? I'm very irritated.
