Came here to lunch and had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated due to it being a first come first serve spot. I got the steak sandwich ($12) and it was made in about 15 minutes. It was very fresh but nothing too fancy compared to a really Philly. It's quite solid for its price. Unfortunately you have to order a side of fries as none are included. We ordered several sandwiches to try amongst our family-Turkey Rueben, Rueben, Corned Beef, BLT, and Sailor. Rueben was probably the overall favorite. Kraut was good. Biggest detractor for me food wise was the bread, it doesn't hold up to the dressing at all. Our waitress was efficient and prompt. Definitely a local joint. read more

This is my go-to place for a Reuben. It's an unassuming Deli but has amazing corned beef and pastrami. These two deli meats just melt in your mouth! My husband is from New Jersey. And although he's like everyone else from up there, 'nothing ever compares' but this is 'pretty good corned beef and pastrami'. read more

This place is a hometown favorite. The waitresses work hard to serve you. It's a small diner experience so sometimes you may have to wait but the wait is worth it. They are known for their ribs and run out quickly so make sure you get there in time. They also do a good job with their corned beef. I personally like the sandwiches that have pastrami or corned beef on it sometimes I'll order a Reuben. I also get a plate of fries to share with my company. This is not fine dining but you will enjoy yourself in this small shopping strip. read more

This family owned business has changed and not for the better. The prices have gone up and the food is not as good. I got a hot dog with mustard and slaw. I have never had a hot dog with so much bread! I took the Weiner off the bread. My mom got French fries. We split those. The ambience is the same. It is actually just a hole in the wall. My mom and I came here for lunch but did a take out order. The order took forever because there was this huge confusion. For whatever reason the cashier had our order confused with someone else and had made my mom pay for that food and when they found out the mistake, they had trouble refunding my mom and the person who actually had ordered it was going to leave without paying for the order since my mom did! And when we thought things were finally settled, they only charged us for one order so we got one sandwich and when my mom asked where the other sandwich was, the cashier was even more confused! So we had to wait even longer for my sandwich. We ordered the same sandwich: Pastrami with Swiss on a roll but when we got the food, one of as just on regular bread without any cheese. We were starving by then and ended up eating what we got. It did taste pretty good so I guess that makes up for the endless confusion. Server was very attentive no complaint there. Food was okay not like it use to be. Very disappointed that the pickles are now $2.50 instead of free. Always loved knowing that I could go somewhere that did this as I am gluten free and it was like the bread basket but instead a small bowl of pickles. When you are from NY it is hard to find a "deli" around here. But this is definitely what I was looking for. I would do 4.5 stars because the menu says bagels from NY but I don't believe it. I'd call them a NY style bagel but the flavor isn't 100%. If you aren't using the water from NY to make bagels then it'll never be the same. I asked the person taking my order if they were from NY and she said they get the bagels from their supplier. So I guess they aren't making them but who knows where the vendor gets them from. So you walk in and there is a bunch of seating. There is a counter where you can order take out. Or you can sit. Not sure if you order at the counter and sit or someone takes your order. It did seem like when people were done eating that they went to the counter to pay. The staff was friendly. There was a guy standing on the side that seemed to be running food and cleaning tables. I liked the sandwich I got roast beef with cheese onion lettuce tomatoes and thousand island dressing. You can get it hot or cold. I would go again if I were in the area. read more

I love a good ole deli and this had all the vibes .. our first time visiting.. we both got subs..i got the Turkey and cheese and hubs got the pastrami.. his was better for sure but mine was still yummy. We are big sandwich fans and this deli did not disappoint. I had a corned beef on rye with Swiss and my husband had the roast beef on pumpernickel. First time reviewer... I have over 15 years eaten at Central Park Deli in Chester, VA. On 1/10/2024 we went to enjoy their delicious Reuben's sandwiches; we were disappointed big time. Our server was great and she always is so absolutely no complaints there. The problem was the kitchen. My husband and I sat down at 12:30 and noticed they didn't have the lines to wait like they use to. Ok prices are going up everywhere I get it. But why did we have to wait an hour for a subpar Reuben? More people walked out with only having a meal. Our sandwiches were cool to cold not the warm sandwiches we were use to. The sandwiches barely touched the grill! There was no hustle like there used to be to be at the grill. Just casual cooking. The kitchen doesn't care so I won't either. No I won't be back anymore. Just a small little restaurant in a shopping center. Very nondescript. You walk in and feel like you've stepped back 30 years. This place has good food & they don't really care about the decor! Their sandwiches are what we usually get. I got the club (so good). Everything was fresh and tasty. She got a Reuben (her favorite sandwich) and says they make the best. This place is the only "deli" nearby and I really want to like it. They are just way overpriced for not very much filling in their sandwiches. Really lackluster. I ordered a tuna sandwich and it looked like something you'd get in a school cafeteria. Excessively sweet due to the copious amounts of relish used. My husband ordered a cheese steak and it was meh. The meat was tough, there was hardly any cheese. I don't visit this establishment often, but am generally satisfied when I do. Most often, I go with the rueben when I visit. This was not exception. To put some perspective on the sandwich, in NYC you'd pay around 15 and the helping of meat is about 3 times as large. So yes, Central is a bit expensive. They do tend to put a greater supply of kraut on the sandwich, which tends to throw off the taste balance a bit. That said, it is one of the very few places I've been to that cooks and cuts their meat correctly, which means meat has the right taste. As for the fries, it's a matter of taste, but I like mine a bit more brown on the outside. A big plus, for those that care, is that they offer Dr. Brown's soda! I've never had anything than excellent service at this establishment. So in the end, the sandwiches are not to die for, but certainly more than passable. The prices are a tad high, but the service is quite good. As a result, its not a place I often seek out and it's also not a place I avoid. read more

We were fortunate enough to find a parking spot right outside the door, which was good, since it started pouring during our meal and we had no umbrellas! I ordered a smoked salmon lunch, which came with potato salad, coleslaw, and some bread. I also ordered a bowl of potato and bacon soup. The soup was piping hot (just the way I like soups), but I think it had been overheated at some point, since the cream had separated out and coagulated into small droplets. Nevertheless, it was still tasty. You get complimentary pickles with every order, and they come in a metal bowl as appetizers. The pickles are sliced up into coins, and they are very crunchy! The food is not too expensive, and portions are generous, so the value is good. The restaurant itself is large and has all wooden tables and benches. The basket lamps also stood out to me.
