Maine Root Blueberry Soda Cup of Tomato Basil Soup (V) Smoked Robinson

I was very curious to come here and try out what they had to offer, very interesting concept to sell different kinds of grilled cheeses! So I tried the grilled cheese with ham and a sweet jelly! It was a very good mixture of sweet and salty and a nice toasty buttery bread! I love the tomatoes soup, it was so nostalgic dipping my sandwich in the dipping soup, sooo good! I highly recommend stoping by, it's only order to go but they do have a small sitting area outside if you want to enjoy the weather, other wise it's just pick up. The service was great, they really have a niche idea, with great food to back up the unique experience. The blueberry drink I had was very different, I think it's some kind of ale, but non alcoholic just fyi!

Love taking out my lunch from this local spot! I got the lunch combo which consisted the turkey cheese sandwich, basil soup and choice of drink for $15. The portion is HUGE!!! Personally I felt the turkey was salty but it could be a me thing.Other than that everything was tasty and fresh. HUGE PORTIONS. There isn't a dine in option, you order online and if the seats in-front of the place is free you can eat there. More of a to-go place. Definitely will try their other options!

We were in town for a wedding and staying at a nearby Air B&B right down the street. I ordered food online and went to pick it up. It's a small little place with only a few seats. My food was ready to go when I arrived approximately 20 minutes after ordering. I got the turkey panini to split with my wife. I got the classic which has lettuce, tomatoes, red onion and mayo. It was exceptional! The cheese was gooey and sandwich hot and delicious. My wife got the pimento cheese with crackers which is sourced and made locally. They also had beer to go! I tried a blueberry ale from Isley Brewing, which is also local. We also got two cookies which were soft and chewy, just the way we like them. Definitely will order from here again if back in town in the future.

This is a hidden little gem with great food. I tried the Smoked Robison with tomato soup dipping sauce. It was absolutely delicious. To order you must use the chaos or scan the QR code and order using your phone. I highly recommend this place!

It was lunchtime, and I remembered Cheddar Jackson just opened in Jackson Ward, so I scooted on over and got the Northern Liberties on wheat, which comes with a 1/2 cup of chunky tomato basil soup. The bread was THE BOMB (so buttery and crispy just like a panini should be), but honestly, the filling (onions and peppers) was so tart, I couldn't really enjoy it. And the portabella was scant. Or maybe it all just tasted the same sour that I couldn't discern the taste of the portabella. The chunky tomato basil soup is VERY chunky. Too chunky for my taste, and yet again, too tart. Everything I ate tasted sour. Sour lunch. With just a few modifications, everything could be delicious. If there's a next time, it'll be just a plain grilled cheese. Doubtful, though. Too bad. Nice guys.

A great black-owned spot in Jackson Ward! Upon walking in, I was greeted by the friendly staff. l and chit chatted with them as I waited for my sandwich to be prepared. You can make your order online and customize your sandwich with several different add-ons (I highly recommend the caramelized onions!). There's a nice bar area to sit indoors and a super cute outdoor area with a couple of tables. My sandwich was fresh and flavorful, and the pasta salad was the perfect cold side on a hot summer day. A great business!!

"The cheese stands alone" is there motto. And they are absolutely right. This newish restaurant was in the rva black restaurant week so I decided to try. So glad I did! I looked up the menu online and at first was a bit sad there were not a ton of meat options. I was going to order online but had a few menu questions, so I just stopped by and ordered in person. It was pretty quiet since it was a weekday afternoon. The owner & staffer were nice and answered my questions quickly! The sandwich was made to order so I waited outside ~10minutes. the Duvall sisters sandwich was A-MAZING. again, the motto it absolutely right. The cheeses, the bacon jam, the buttery bread. THE BACON JAM. The cheddar broccoli was yummy too! So much broccoli in the cup, so it was really filling. I also got a mango sake. It was good -- if you don't drink sake often (like me) the flavor may be a little overpowering. I may have to try a different flavor. This place is definitely a must try!

Lovely vegan panini lunch for me & my husband on this our 21st anniversary. Our melty, toasted sandwiches were perfectly wrapped in novelty parchment paper (with an image of headline news Nov 19th 1996, I think?) served w tomato soup dipping sauce, put together by Madison & Diamond, the friendly and sweet young ladies behind the counter. My husband had a yummy vegan chocolate chip cookie to round out his meal. I was too stuffed to try one this go. We also enjoyed a chat w owner Brandon, whose warm personality and enthusiasm for his business was engaging and inspiring. The paninis really hit the spot and the whole experience has us looking forward to future visits. YES Vegan friendly

Really great sandwiches! UberEats delivery took a little long bc the driver did another order on the way but it was still warm! Sandwiches also come with a little 4oz cup of dipping soup which was really good. I hate tomatoes but sometimes I take a chance on tomato soul and this one was so worth it. I got a roast beef and cheddar panini (pictured), in the pic it looks a little flat but it was full enough of meat and cheese and horseradish. The horseradish flavor was so great, and it didn't even over power the meat and cheese. I'd definitely order this again and probably try some other stuff as well! The menu looks pretty creative with the other sandwiches and there was a crab bisque I'll probably try next time. They also have Boylan bottle sodas, my bf got a black cherry one which was great. They also have mexican coke, which is always a plus.

The florets stayed crispy, the whipped feta, chilies, and pomegranate made an unexpectedly pleasant combo. The Reuben was well executed. The bread retained its sturdiness instead of the normal sponge like qualities you might find with other Reubens around town. The meat was melt in your mouth tender and every bite contained components of the sandwich, rather than the usual wrestling match of sliced meat in your mouth. The service was meh. It's counter service with sit down restaurant prices. Here's the funny thing: you are given a number for food to be delivered to your table. The waitress puts the food down on your table and directs you to a rolling cart where plates, napkins, etc. are BUT the waitress has to pass the rolling cart to bring you your food. Could we have not received appetizer plates and silverware when we checked out and were handed our drinks? I don't think anyone can get excited about Jason's Deli type service at lunch at Lemaire prices. If I had to choose a good time to suggest going to Susie's, go to Happy Hour on a sunny day and sit out on the patio

It was a weekday after work. I went to my homegirl's house because I missed her birthday I offered to take her out someplace nice. She said no way man and immediately said we were going to this sandwich shop. This was the only thing she wanted. So we were gonna veg out on her couch. Have a couple cocktails and whatever else and watch something on TV. And her new couch is the bees knees. For me, the sandwich was perfect. The bread was beautiful and crusty. I was afraid it was going to be toasted and too crusty, and I'd be fighting to bite it and my sandwich guts spilling out while cutting up my gums and the roof of my mouth like it's Captain crunch or something.. BUT NO! It was PERFECT to bite through. They load you up with the meat they're not stingy. And the sauces... BABY! The aïoli was fantastic. My only beef is that horseradish aioli needed a little bit more of a kick, but that's a personal problem. My friend got the chicken Caesar and I see why it's popular. It is so garlicky and delicious. Cons: While I understand the sandwich requires a strong vessel to hold the toppings, the bread was very thick and tough. The fillings did not match the bread proportion on this particular sandwich. The chicken breast was extremely overcooked and difficult to chew. Several pieces were leather-like in texture. Maybe chicken thighs would work better. I love the creativity of this sandwich and I get where they were trying to go, but the finished product was disappointing. A new line cook was being trained so perhaps this accounted for the miss. I've seen photos of the other sandwiches and they look delicious with better proportioned fillings. Not sure if I'll give it another try, but shoutout to all their fans in Church Hill.

My dining partner says there is a pool table in a back room, and that could be fun to fold into a longer visit. The piped in music was light jazz. The menu is oriented around philly cheesesteaks and variations. I ordered the chicken philly, which was large enough to make two lunches (I brought half home.) The flavor was decent, with seasoned or marinated chicken chunks and veggies & cheese on a sturdy roll. It came with a decent serving of chips. We were served a juice glass of room temp water on arrival and no drink order was taken. Negatives were related to pacing. It took a lot of time for the food to come out. We were pushed to eat even half of our sandwiches within the hour my dining partner had for lunch. The server did not check back after dropping the plates, which could have been an issue if we needed more water. The menu has so many tempting options that it was hard to choose, but we both landed on the Hot Chicken Sandwich with cayenne butter--and we're glad we did. It had the perfect amount of heat: enough to bring some spice without overpowering the flavor. On the side, I ordered the green beans after our bartender/server highly recommended them. Normally, green beans wouldn't be my first choice, but they were seasoned perfectly and ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the meal. My partner chose the mac and cheese, which was the superior side (although both were excellent). The service was friendly, attentive, and genuine throughout the evening. Despite arriving on a Friday night without a reservation, we had no trouble getting a table. They only accept reservations for parties of 5-8, so I'm glad we decided to take our chances. One of my favorite parts of the evening was chatting with another guest at the bar. He and his wife shared several entrées with their young son, and they couldn't stop raving about the short ribs--which their son happily claimed for himself by the end of the meal! They also highly recommended the salmon, so we've already got ideas for our next visit. The only real downside has nothing to do with the restaurant itself: parking in Scott's Addition can be a challenge. I'd recommend allowing yourself some extra time to find a spot or, even better, taking a rideshare so you can start enjoying your evening right away. Lunch.
