He actually cared about solving the problem. Chris handled the installation and was exceptional. On time. Professional. Clean. Efficient. He treated my home with respect and made sure everything was working perfectly before he left. No shortcuts, no mess, no stress. This company bought our Hall's Water contract, and then failed to regularly service our water softener. The unit was old and a plumber told us it was no longer working. We called and eventually got Culligan to send someone out to service the unit, but we were told it was too old to fix. We paid for a service we weren't receiving while we made a decision on what steps to take to replace it. When I called to cancel the service (somehow a 30 minute call), they said they had to schedule to pick up their old broken unit first. I scheduled it and canceled the service, or so I thought. Then I got a bill for another month of service. I called to dispute the charges and THEN they told me if you don't give 30 days cancelation notice, they still bill you. This was NEVER mentioned in the earlier calls, and I never actually signed up with them--they took over a contract from another business that was set up before I even bought my house. I explained the situation and they wouldn't back down on the charges. They also charge a $3 fee for mailing you a paper bill (which I never chose to receive) and then they charge you a processing fee to pay with a credit card on their website regardless. Every single time I had to talk to the people at Culligan of Ventura, they were very rude, inflexible, and just acted like they were annoyed I had to audacity to call them (and I was nice on the phone). I got them to begrudgingly refund the $10 late fee, since I didn't know that I would be billed again. I hated to give them the last payment, but it isn't worth it to argue more. Do not get soft water tanks from this place! Worst customer service and disgusting dirty tanks. Last week (on Monday), we were trying to bathe our toddler in the morning and we turned on the bath water and the bath started filling up with pitch black sediment. The bathtub was completely black within a couple seconds. We shut off the water and flushed our toilets trying to figure out if the problem was the water heater or if it was the cold water and sure enough, all of our toilets were brown within a single flush. We called the city thinking that it was a city issue. They asked us specifically if we had soft water and we said yes. They came right over within minutes of calling and bypassed the soft water tank. That's called good customer service, Culligan. We ran the water for a few minutes and got clean water. It was a weekday when this happened and my husband and I both work and we have a toddler and a pretty busy life. My husband tried to contact culligan 3 times and got the operator every time since he leaves for work at 7:00 and tried to call before going into the office. Culligan never called him or me back. So, today, a week later, 1 day before our next delivery, I called and got someone on the phone to report the issue and she couldn't have been ruder, which is what is prompting me to write this. I didn't ask for a refund or a credit. I simply reported the issue to her, which she couldn't have cared less about. Her responses were to question what I said and of course said there was no record of anyone calling over the last week, as if this didnt occur and my husband hadn't actually called them three times! I told her that the point of the call was to let them know their tanks were disgusting and they needed to clean them. We have had the tank bypassed for a week now and can't use it because it's filled with black- possibly mold for all we know! Why would a company not care about that. So, of course, I told them we are canceling and to pick up the tank because clearly they could care less about their customers. If I were managing this place, anyone who picked up the phone and dealt with a call like this from a customer would be gone immediately. The fact that you even have someone this horrible at customer service, picking up the phone to customers, shows that management is likely the exact same way. So, bye bye Culligan. This company sucks!! They promised me things they never delivered. The "salesperson" Eric said he would be here for installation but he never showed. And the guys they sent out were in a hurry cuz it was the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. They keep calling me to say I never paid when I financed thru their bank Community Wide, but they are threatening to send me to collections. Completely inflexible rude staff. Really like Sammy our route driver, but office won't set a specific delivery day of the week. We used to have deliveries on Thursdays. Now it changes monthly. I can't deal with that. They also can't be counted on delivering new filtration tanks. We had a delivery and it caused so many hard water issues. Had to call the office and they sent out new tanks. But by then the inside of our dishwasher was wrecked. Used to have their under sink RO system. When water wouldn't come out because the filters were dirty, was told by the office team member, that we weren't due to have our filters changed yet and refused to send out a tech to change out the filters. So, we removed the RO system and put in our own. Now that they can't commit to a specific day of the week for deliveries, it's time to move on. No wonder their yelp reviews are horrible. read more

Believe it or not, this company actually stole $600 from us. The concealed that we had an account credit and then unilaterally enrolled us in a service contract without our knowledge, draining the $600k over the course of several years. When I posted the issue on Google, I recd a response asking me to call. When I did, the person who answered said there was nobody by the name at the location. Beyond frustrated. If you live in Goleta, try to get a local and smaller business they might be more responsive! I decided to try them out when I met a salesperson at an event. I was looking for a water softener at the time. They immediately scheduled an appointment to come by. They were really informative about the features and services they offer. But! I think after the sale, they don't really care about you. They're not going to follow up to see how things are going. Once they have your money, you'll never hear from them again. I initially wanted a salt basin that was on the smaller size, so I can park my car easier. I made the decision to go with the water softener because they said it would fit in a space that I chose. They came by, and installed one that was much larger. I was told at the time that they ordered a smaller basin for me, and they'll come back to install it. I waited couple of weeks and followed up. My call was answered by a person that seemed really annoyed. She just told me that "we'll call you." After waiting for 2 months, I called again. They didn't have any recollection of that first call. They acted like they were going to do something. The person on the phone wrote something down and said she would get back to me. So, it's been about 9 months now, and I have just been met with radio silence. So again! Choose a highly rated company. read more

My mother died on May 31, 2025. Although I have called, emailed and written letters to Culligan to cancel her account, they will not do it. There is no way they can be accessing her water as no one can be letting them in. The house has been sold as of October of last year. Still I continue to get billed as if she is living in the house. The customer service is terrible. Every time we need service or filter changes, I call to schedule an appointment, and they never show up. This has happened four different times already at my house and at my workplace. Unbelievable. When I call to report that no one showed up and request urgent service, they act as if they're doing me a favor by rescheduling--usually a week out. The woman answering the phone always seems to be annoyed by any question. Zero professionalism and extremely poor customer service. Zero stars. read more

This company has the absolute worst customer service. I have been with them since 2019 and it has been a problem since day one. They never show up for service no always have to remind them. They always reschedule and don't show up to that and I'm still stuck paying. Not to mention the change in my contract with no written notice and the lies they leave in their system as notes like they left salt for deliveries when they didn't and they spoke with me or left me voicemails when they did not. I haven't had a designated route driver for years and have had to manage my own account schedule. The price has increased from $10 monthly equipment rental to $18.85. That's a 88.5% increase from 2019 to 2024. That's crazy. Not to mention that our privilege program while initially free, has increased from 22.66 to 27.97 monthly. That's about a 25% increase from 2021 until now. While not as high as 88%, that's still pretty high. Do not use them. Use anyone else. read more

We had a Culligan water filter system installed in January 2024, and the experience has been a nightmare from day one. The very night after installation, there was a huge leak in our garage coming from the system. Several pieces of furniture and small appliances were damaged. When I contacted Culligan, the manager called and apologized, and as a gesture of compensation offered free salt delivery for our system. I appreciated that at the time and trusted that it was being handled in good faith. After a few deliveries, however, I noticed our account had been charged a couple hundred dollars for salt delivery that we were told would be free and that we never subscribed to as a paid service. Since then, I have called Culligan five times. Every single time I was told that "someone will reach out to you"--no one ever did. No follow-up, no resolution, nothing. Today I called again, hoping to finally get this resolved. Instead, the representative was impatient and dismissive, cut me off twice, and then ended the call with "you have a great day" without even letting me explain the full situation. It felt like they just wanted to get me off the phone rather than help. For a brand as big and well-known as Culligan, this level of customer service is shocking and unacceptable. From the leak and property damage to unexpected charges and rude, unhelpful support, this has been one of the worst service experiences I've had with any company. I do not recommend installing a Culligan system. If something goes wrong, based on my experience, you may be ignored, billed for things you didn't agree to, and treated poorly when you try to get help. read more

I'm at the point where I'm not sure what else I can do. My water softener has been out of service since the first week of April. Week after week, I have had no shows for service only for someone to show up for 10 seconds and confirm that the water softener was broken. There has been a total of 9 no-shows in almost 6 weeks now. I called in to talk to a supervisor and was told they were in a different building and was told they would contact me soon. To my surprise, I have not been contacted. I have been paying for the premier program for over 5 years. To their credit, I haven't any issues until now. With that said, it is a scam. As soon as I need to use the service, consistent no shows and waste of time trying to schedule appointments. This has been the worst customer service experience I've ever had in every aspect. read more

I've had the worst experience with Culligan. We have hard water at our home in Westlake Village so the rep came out tested, did the presentation, and we moved forward with a softener, carbon filter and RO. It took them 2 weeks for the initial install, which ended up only getting the RO installed since the sales person didn't measure our water line properly and the technician had no idea what to do with an 1-1/2" line, and was rude to my wife blaming her for wasting his time. It took multiple calls to Culligan, getting the sales manager involved, etc over 5 weeks just to learn that the only system that would work for our house was a commercial system that cost 2-3x as much. I finally had enough of them and told their billing dept and the sales manager to cancel our contract, and I called Rayne Water after a friend recommended them. Rayne Water came out and installed the same system that Culligan couldn't within a week, and now I keep getting bills from Culligan for the full installation and late charges - an installation that was never completed. I've called their billing dept multiple times and they do nothing about the bills, and they promise dates to pickup the RO system that's now sitting in my garage, and never show up. Culligan was supposed to be a good brand, but I would suggest to anyone looking for a water treatment system to look elsewhere. There's other companies with as good, if not better systems, and much better with customer service and knowledgeable employees. read more

We had tank exchange service with Harris Water, and they were bought out by Culligan. Never had a problem with Harris. When Culligan took over, we started running out of soft water within days of exchange. That happened so often that I bought a system at Lowes and have not had a problem since. The issue I am having now is that I am now 76 Y/O with a bad back, so the forty-pound bags are becoming a strain. I thought that I would give them another try since it has been a couple of years. I called the office two weeks ago on a Friday afternoon and was told that someone would get back to me on Monday. Never heard from anyone. What was I thinking!! read more

BEWARE. These guys may sound nice on the phone, but be prepared for a lot of hidden fees. They boast $15 per month for the first three months, but then they add in transportation costs. Which vary based on your address. So it's not $15, it's more like $27. If you decide you don't like the service for whatever reason, they have a "breakage fee" anywhere between $200 - $400, based on the length of the contract you signed. Oh, and if you're thinking of waiting until that third month to cancel, they also bake in a handy little 30 day notice fee. So they get another full month's rent regardless. Oh and one more thing, they don't attach your contract to your account so every time I spoke with a representative, they're like "oh you'll need to send us your contract" before we can provide you with an answer. I can't even start with that one. Ridiculous. Don't bother with this company. Too many hidden fees. read more

I called to cancel service in May (2025) and they said they had to schedule the cancellation. Two weeks later the tech comes out to remove the equipment on June 2nd, We move out of state, and then I am charged for the entire month of June, even though we did not use any of their services that month. The next month I was charged again for July. When I called they said that one was an error, but after 2 phone calls and 10 days I am still waiting for that refund. read more

They even charge $3 to send you a bill. $5 per 5 gallons of water and a $7.50 delivery fee is outrageous. You can get water from a machine for $2.50 per 5 gallons of water. They lost my key in November so haven't been by to provide service since. Stayed home and left door unlocked on told service days, but they were a no show twice. They won't transfer to a supervisor as their policy is to only send emails. I continue to call weekly and leave messages for over a month now with no call backs. I've had no service for over two months. I've stayed current on payments but they only credited one month. I have no clue why they wouldn't take care of the customers they have. First of all, I love the water quality and the drivers are very friendly and the pricing is great; however, Culligan recently updated their payment portal online and required you to register. While trying to re-register it said email not found and so I called customer service as suggested, the person who answered the phone Alexis was so rude! Before I could even finish explaining what was wrong she interrupted me and said "you need to re register , see where it says.." . This is the kind of customer service you would expect from a corporation and not a local business and I am quite disappointed. Where to begin? We've used this service for decades. Never had problems until Culligan took over. Since then it's only been problems. No less than 10 interactions over the last couple years and not one resulted in a completed service without an issue. Between the multiple no shows, wrong serviceman showing up (trying to sell me soft water when all I requested was an RO filter change) miscommunication in office staff, price hikes that don't seem to end, incorrect information coming from office (including a wrong address for me) as well as office staff communicating contradicting information (like pricing, appointment times, not sending info they said they did)- it's a mess. The leadership is poor. I've stuck around purely out of convenience, and hoping they'd figure it out after a few years of ownership- but they have not. The owner clearly doesn't know how to operate a business well. Customer service is poor, they are disorganized, not communicators, make excuses and one even admitted her disapproval in how they operate. We have a vacation home in Goleta and we had our filters replaced by an employee of Halls Water aka Culligan of Ventura County. He replaced our filters within 15 minutes and said that the total will be $425, which I paid him in full to settle the account. My husband and I were shocked about the cost vs his time/filters. In November I received an email that I owed them $20 for an addtional filter!!! I called them to tell them that I paid in full in May and to have the manager call me, but no one did. Today, I received another email saying I now owe them $30, because I'm late in paying! Reluctantly, I will pay them their $30, but I told them to take me off their customer list as I will NEVER EVER have them service our water system again, even if I have to replace their whole system with another company's system. In my opinion, if you're looking for the "old" Culligan Man, he's gone!!! If I were you, I'd beware of this company and take my advice to look elsewhere! read more

Frightening dilemma, This past Friday afternoon, around 1 PM, my wife found resin from our water softener had seeped into our back yard! Fearing the worst, blocked pipes , we contacted Culligan for support!! Roughly at 2:00PM, Joseph and Jesus arrived to assess the situation. They worked tirelessly for 3 hours to correct the problem and prevent any further damage. Those two, our heroes, did a wonderful job and are truly assets to Culligan. Thank you!!! I have been a customer for a very long time, but the last few months have been absolutely horrible. This is due to the fact that I finally had to deal with customer service - which has basically been non existent. The unit that I rent from them malfunctioned/exploded, and sent resin all through my pipes ruining my plumbing, water heater etc. When I called, they were a no show. (not once, but twice) I got a plumber to come out and help get the water running again, and was told to send the invoice to Culligan. It took weeks for them to come out and install a new unit, also forgetting parts and having to come back yet again. They told me they would escalate to a supervisor to try and get reimbursement for some of the costs incurred, but I haven't gotten any type of reply since September. Absolutely disappointing and not how you should treat customers if you want to keep them. I will be looking elsewhere and canceling my service. read more
