I've always been impressed with Cultured Canvas' stylist Jenna DeWitt. As a long time customer (6+ years) she's the only person I go to for my cool blonde hues and long layered cuts. I'm particular with my highlights and Jenna has continually exceeded my expectations. One word - crispy. Finding a barber in Scottsdale who can give a solid men's cut isn't too hard to find, I've been to most of them. The problem is that the prices have increased significantly over the years as the shops have invested in lifestyle offerings at the shops (booze, lounge areas, etc.). Don't get me wrong, it's a fun environment, but for my basic cut it's not the experience I'm willing to pay the mark-up for. Two of my buddies recommended I try out their barber, Albert, who now owns and operates Cultured Canvas. He's a super personable guy and we have a great conversation every time. He's put a ton of time and thought into his salon and it shows. I especially appreciate his collection of music videos he constantly has running. Additionally, he always has great recommendations for trying something a little different for my hair, be it product, styling, or lengths. Nowadays, my buddies and I book back-to-back appointments and we hangout and shoot the shit during each of our cuts. I definitely recommend Albert! read more

You would think am a hair stylist's nightmare client. I had no idea what I should do and where I should go! I want to be able to walk in and say, "do whatever you think is best!" And I wanted to go with my daughter and have her hair done too and have her feel special! We walked into Cultured Canvas in Old town Scottsdale and loved the music and atmosphere (including the branded logo). We watched the transformation of the client before us. Then it was our turn and you could tell Albert (our stylist & owner of the salon) was passionate about his work. Making people look and feel good.... Which is so cool because that's what we do too just in a different way! He cut the extras dead weight off and got some volume with some layers. I soo needed it to be lighter and healthy. Hi folks, i have been a client of Albert's for over six years. I was at work the day I met him. He had mentioned he did hair and I said, "Well, don't look at mine." I had it up in a ponytail or bun. That was my typical look back then. I have medium, coarse curly hair which tends to be frizzy. It looked okay if I blow dried it and took a flat iron to it, but that takes a lot of time and then I'm a freak about humidity, getting it wet, etc.... I don't remember our conversation after that, but soon after, I was sitting at his station, in the salon. The guy is seriously good. I receive many compliments on the style and the color. I rarely wear it up. My mom is also a client. After many years of stylist hopping, we have finally found someone who is knows what he is doing. I will never go anywhere else. Another benefit is he has his own shop; there isn't a bunch of other stylists and clients buzzing around, making it a more personal experience. We have fun and have become good friends, over the years. He is a very people-oriented, down to earth guy that is willing to play online "games with friends" if you're into that.
