I haven't had a problem with this location yet. It's close to home, the atmosphere is delightful and the food is delicious. The service could use a little tune up because when I visit and ask questions about menu items, they don't seem to understand or know the menu. The burgers are great, the fries are decent, the cheese curds are to die for and the ice cream is the best in town, especially for the price. It isn't somewhere I would take the family every weekend because it isn't the healthiest or cheapest meal but its good for occasions and a lot of fun when you dine-in. We stopped here for a quick dinner ... and the service was amazing! Better than some full service restaurants we have been to recently. Culver's is just alright in my opinion. The quality of the custard is good. I've never had a problem with the custard. Tastes fine. The food is mediocre. I don't eat fast food anymore but when I was little I would eat the chicken fingers, cheese fries and sometimes a burger. Everything tastes alright, but just expect that stomach ache from the grease after. My only complaint or why I don't enjoy going there because I feel like this Culver's is all staffed by 16 year olds. Most of them look miserable and don't really go out of their way to give good customer service. I worked at Dairy Queen when I was 15 and I went out of my way to be nice and provide good customer service. The staff looks miserable every time you thank them and they go "my pleasure." Everyone has bad days but I haven't seen a single staff member in there smile lol. read more

This is our local, fast food, burger joint. We opt to come here anytime over the other typical burger places. Here you are guaranteed to have a clean environment, relatively quick service, and a great dessert. Over the years, we've tried just about everything on the menu and have not been disappointed. My favorite, but simple meal is the Culvers Double Deluxe, complete with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayo with two slabs of butter burgers with cheese. The Fish platter and Ruben sandwich are also secondary bests. Of course, when you go to the soda fountain, and if you like root-beer try their very own brand, which I find to be very tasty and can easily drink several cups while there. To end the meal, you can enjoy a nice custard. As mentioned by Chris, each day they have a flavor of the day and other mixes you can experiment with. For me, the Turtle or Raspberry Sunday are good hits. When you have kids in tow and they get the kids meal, don't forget to tear off the two coupons on the bag. One is for a free kiddie sized custard and the other is a token. When they save up 10 tokens, they can redeem them for a cool prize which are displayed by the soda-fountain. read more

I am a huge fan! Their burgers are great; I've tried some other items and haven't been disappointed. What really impresses, though, is the employee attitude. Always friendly and helpful. Out of all of the Culver's in the area, (Gurnee, Kenosha, and Zion) the Grayslake location is the best hands down! Culvers is known for their delicious Butter Burgers. However, they are not always as delicious and sometimes they do not come fresh but with the ingredients slapped on and meat mildly warmed up. I visited the Grayslake location last night for the first time. I was actually rushing because I had 30 minutes until they closed. I was worried because I know that when establishments are getting ready to close the service laks. However, I had the best burger, fries, cheese curds, buffalo chicken strips that I have ever tasted from a Culvers. Whoever was working last night after 10 p.m. deserves some kind of recognition for the outstanding service they provided. I highly recommend this location. I live in Gurnee but I will now only visit the Grayslake location Culvers. Good job guys! read more

I can no longer recommend this Culver's location. While the food is still good by and large, the service (or lack thereof) has deteriorated to the point where it's not worth the aggravation. The missing/incorrect order items I noted in my previous reviews are still occurring; if anything, it's happening more. I've written to Culver's corporate at least 3 times, begging them to send a district manager to bring this franchisee into line, but all that happens is the store manager (ie, the source of the problem) contacts me and offers me a coupon. I don't want a coupon; I want my order to be right the first time, every time. I want the employees to act like they care about the customer and stop sleep-walking through their duties. Interestingly, the Arby's about a mile or 2 down the road does a much better job at getting orders out correctly, with less than half the staff of Culver's. Make of that what you will. read more

Simply the best fast food burger you will find. True meat lovers understand the chemistry of the Maillard reaction - that getting a nice, brown crust is the source of tremendous flavor. Culver's pursues burger perfection by serving thin patties and smashing them on the grill... the high ratio of surface area to volume means plenty of flavorful Maillard goodness in every bite. You want a bigger burger? Two thin patties means twice the crust, twice the flavor compared to a single thicker patty. Not a huge fan of the chicken. The tenders are really quite boring compared to actual fried chicken chains... and I think they don't even offer the chicken dinner anymore. Stick to the beef. Delicious cheese curds. Decent fries. Went here the other day around 330-4 for 3 ice creams and a fry. It was not busy at all so I figured the wait for the food would be rather quick. After at least 10 minutes of standing there, I'm going to assume it was a shift manager, who was on break asked if I was waiting for food. I told her fries and 3 ice creams. She got up and bagged the fries herself and the ice creams were already mixed just melting on the counter. Mind you there were 5 employees behind the counter standing around doing nothing and the shift manager said something to them about standing there. And when the employee tried to hand me the ice creams as I was holding my baby I had to tell her to put it on the table, which is what they've done every time I've been there before. Maybe it was just a bad day for them, but I was disappointed to say the least. read more

Kids seem to like the burgers, they are ok. The problem I had was with their fried fish items. The bad flavor lets u know they let the fry oil get rancid and gross. I could not finish my walleye though I have had it before and it was good other times. I think it may just be this Grayslake location just does not maintain their fry oil quality... Yuck. This place gave me and my mother food poisoning. they need new management or new staff. the food must of not been kept at it's right temperature. we went out for dinner my mother, my kids and I one night. My mother and I both got chicken salad sandwiches and my kids got something else. I woke up puking my brains out on a Sunday. I had to call in from work. I called my mom and she told me that this morning she too was projective vomiting!!!! I work in food service as well and you all can get someone very sick if your not following standard food safety rules. I ordered a create your own concrete mixer with vanilla ice cream with Brownie pieces and Hot Fudge. The worker who took my order said to me, "You don't want Hot Fudge because it will melt the ice cream. You can have Chocolate Syrup instead." She completely changed my order and gave me a vanilla ice cream concrete mixer with Brownie pieces and Chocolate Sauce. I don't care what she thinks but this is MY order and NOT hers! I really enjoy Culver's, great tasting food and amazing milkshakes....when they can get the order right. I had just got off a long 11 hour shift and decided that I wanted to have some tasty chicken tenders and so did my girlfriend at the time. Without a moment to spare Culver's popped up! So I head out there and order 2 shakes and an 8 piece chicken strips. Well when I got home to have dinner with my girlfriend i notice that they had gave me only 4 which is enough to feed one. I call back but it was closed and the manager insisted on sending me a coupon BY MAIL to redeem my 4 chicken strips...... I wish I could rate the food and the staff separately. The food is fantastic, no different than any other Culver's. However the staff at this location is the most incompetent group of morons I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. In the past year I have probably gone through the drive thru 20 times, and they have got my order correct maybe 5. I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but I promise it's not.
