This is just a no-frills, straight-up American fast-food establishment that serves tasty food. I find White Castle's sliders and chicken rings to be delicious, especially when they are freshly made and eaten hot. I don't go here often, but if I am in or near Gurnee Mills mall and hungry, I try to stop by here for a quick, inexpensive meal. I have received good service whenever I have visited. My go-to order usually consists of jalapeño cheese beef slider, original slider, chicken ring slider, or a six count of chicken rings (or sometimes fish nibblers instead of chicken rings. With my order, I get their hot sauce, which is similar to Texas Pete's, if not it. I have not had bad tasting food here, and neither has my order been gotten wrong. Prices have gone up a bit due to post-COVID conditons such as inflation, but the food is still very reasonably priced. I recommend going to this White Castle if you enjoy a good fast-food meal. read more

Service here is horrible. I came here for lunch. There was 1 customer waiting for her order to be filled. Being the only customer at the counter, I thought the order taking would be quick. I was wrong. The manager was behind the counter doing maintenance on one of the deep fryers. Seriously? At 12:30 pm arguably peak lunch rush time fryer maintenance should have been done during off peak time. The drive thru was being slammed with cars. Other customers started to accumulate behind me. Several ended up leaving because of the lack of service. The manager just kept filtering the deep fryer, Not attending to the customers as if we weren't there. Instead, he yelled at an employee that was on their break to handle the front line customers. Finally, my order was taken. Total wait time from when I walked in to getting my order served was 30 minutes. One of the other customers that came after had mobile or online order that was large. The manager lectured that customer to expect longer wait time with an order of that size even though this was placed on electronically. How's is that the customer's fault. This manager hasn't a clue to customer service. This is the only White Castle that I experienced such crap service. This location sucks. I really think Harold & Kumar our White Castle on the map. I had never heard of them before nor did I know they were sold in the freezer section -- obviously, I don't do a lot of frozen foods. Well, when I was in Gurnee, I knew I had to check this out and see if I liked it. The size of the sliders were like King's Hawaiian Rolls. At first bite, I thought it was pretty good. The bun was slightly toasted and the cheese enveloped the patty. Overall, pretty good. Not the best but better than what I expected. After our pizza binge we were headed back to our hotel when we saw White Castle! Everyone had that look on their faces like we just saw the Holy Grail. Swung around, quickly pulled in and parked. The store we visited was SO FILTHY we couldn't eat there. The floor was sticky, the tables were disgusting and the soda machine was dirty. When they finally sent someone to clean the tables, he used a sopping wet rag on all the tables and left them extremely wet. They were by no means clean. There was food and paper all over the floor. There were no napkins in the napkin holder. If this was the front of the restaurant, it frightens me to think how clean the back is. Needless to say, we will NOT be returning. read more

Every time I go to this location the staff is arguing or joking around and never paying attention to the customer. I pulled to the window for 10 minutes while the cashier and manager were joking or arguing and never acknowledged me. Not too sure where to begin. Probably at the drive through speaker trying to order my meal with 3 different loud arguing voices being heard on my end. Waited and finally ordered. At this moment I'm already somewhat uncomfortable by the lack of professionalism shown just trying to take my order. Upon arrival a larger African American man open the window and greets me in such a creepy manner and then tries to slick talk me also. Im now 100% uncomfortable by the behavior of the window worker now. I was given my order within a minute almost and my first thought - oh great, burgers than are soggy, half way cold that have been sitting out for a while now. What happens when I pull over a few moments later to eat ? Soggy cold burgers like I assumed and my order was wrong. It's pathetic, no wonder the one on Washington St closed. I don't normally write reviews for fast food establishments (unless I have a really bad experience), but we had a really nice visit to this White Castle this past weekend and I wanted to give them a shout out. I'm no stranger to White Castle. It is what it is: cheap fast food. I don't have huge expectations when I walk through the door. My kids and I were staying at the nearby Great Wolf Lodge for the weekend and instead of dishing out an arm and a leg for their very average food, we decided to head out and explore. My kids saw White Castle and decided that was where they wanted to go. Restaurant was clean and well maintained. Staff was very friendly. In fact, the gentleman working the counter was really awesome. Friendly, funny...made us feel welcome. Little things like that make all the difference. Service was quick. Food was nothing special, but I've always enjoyed it and the kids always get a kick out of getting their sliders in their little cardboard boxes and honestly - I've always loved White Castle fries. Just a nice experience with a lot of little things adding up to make me thing I'd definitely go out of my way to stop there the next time we're passing through! read more

This White Castle is consistently good. I have went here for over 15 years. Employees in that time rarelyade any mistakes or forgot food etc. You either love sliders or you don't.
