I ended up ordering for the spicy chick on a bubble waffle with fries, and my mom of for a BBQ chicken sandwich with a waffle on the side. The dining room was clean and comfortable, and the temperature was just right (a unicorn when my mom and I are together, as she's always too cold and I'm constantly undecided whether I'm too hot or too cold, especially during the humid weather air conditioning season!) Our food was cooked to order and done pretty quickly. By the time we got home the wake was a little less crispy, but that's to be expected when hot, fresh food is transported in carry out containers. The waffle was still delicious, nonetheless! The chicken portions were enormous and could have easily made two meals. Per my usual M.O. though, I was a glutton and ate the whole thing - haha! The sauce/seasoning wasn't exactly like other Nashville hot chicken I've had, but it still had a great flavor, and the jalapeños gave it an extra kick that pushed it right to the edge of my spiciness threshold. Good thing I had that delicious iced tea to wash it all down! All in all, I had a great experience, and this will definitely be in my Lawrence takeout rotation. While I don't typically eat in the store, it's fun to walk in to what seems like peanut heaven and out with more fries than you can eat. Yes you can grab a scoop of peanuts to eat while you wait for your very flavorful fries cooked in peanut oil. And thank goodness, there are extra fries in every bag that is less like spillage and more like abundant gifts of joyous yumminess. This particular McDonald's is clean, easy to access and it's fast (kinda the name of the game, right?). Nothing outstanding either way about this restaurant. The reason McDonalds has been so successful is because of the uniformity. A quarter pounder in Nome, Alaska will taste the same as a quarter pounder in Possum Grape, Arkansas. I have never had an issue with their food. Truth be told, there are things on the menu I crave. Sometimes you just gotta have a Big Mac or a double cheeseburger. I have never thought their fries were great but they do hit the spot. I actually like the breakfast food more than their regular food. The only issue I've had is just a personal preference and that is the amount of ice they put in their drinks. I happen to like ice in my drinks. Mountains and glaciers of ice. With their automated machines, though, McDonalds just puts a spit of ice in their cups. That's the one thing I wish could change. The prices are reasonable for what you get. The service is average. I've never had problems with smirky servers. The restaurants are clean. I think they do a good job of making sure the establishments are clean.
