This was our first time at Texas Roadhouse. We tried to get in one night last week and the waiting line scared us away. My boss recommended to get on the waitlist and you can wait in your car until time to come sit "ON DECK". You get seated quickly from there, but before you do there's a counter / cooler area you can take a gander at their steaks. Once seated, Christian our server came over and took our drink and app order then quickly returned with everything. He was hands down one of the best waiters Ive had, checking on us without being bothersome, catering to our every ask. It's a fast paced but fun vibe, the staff even does line dancing. Several other people checked in on us during the meal. They really strive to make your dinner a pleasant experience. The food was magnificent just the hearty meal we were looking for. Steaks, potatoes, veggies and more. We left with a healthy doggie bag as did many others, you really get your money's worth here. It might've been crowded but the pace was just right.. Last night we had dinner at the Lawrence Texas Roadhouse restaurant. The chain was founded in Clarksville, Indiana with corporate headquarters in Louisville, KY. We are not surprised that this faux Texas chain has been sued many times. It was the worst dining experience we have had in many years. We will not return. We arrived at around 4:30 pm on Saturday night. We asked to be seated in a booth along the back wall, as we always have done. In fact, booth 332 has been our favorite. A hostess walked us to the back of the restaurant and tried to seat us at a non-booth table along a different wall. We refused the table. There were three empty tables along the back wall, so we walked to one of those tables and seated ourselves. While reading the menu in preparation to order, a hostess came to our table and asked us to move to the corner table 336. She said they had no servers available for the table we had chosen. Table 336 is one of the most undesirable tables in the restaurant, crowded into a corner by other close tables on both sides. There is no privacy at that table and hardly enough room for a server to get to the table in that crowded noisy location. We moved to that table as told. As soon as we had moved to that crowded corner table, we saw people being seated at the three available tables along the back wall. Obviously we had been lied too. Clearly there was a server for those tables. As a Distinguished Professor at the University of Kansas, I am not accustomed to being lied to and mistreated. My wife and I were angry. We were served at 4:38 pm, according to the check we were given. We ordered the Rattlesnake Bites Appetizer, the Grilled Shrimp dinner (my wife), and the Grilled Salmon dinner (me). It was so noisy in that crowded corner booth that it was difficult to order, but I ordered a Caesar Salad with my Salmon dinner. The server brought out a house salad and left it on the table for me. When she returned, I told her I ordered a Caesar Salad, not the house salad. She smiled and said she knew that I ordered a Caesar Salad. She asked if I wanted the house salad replaced with a Caesar Salad. I said yes. She removed the house salad and brought a Caesar Salad. If she knew I had ordered a Caesar Salad, why did she try to get me to accept a house salad? When we were nearly finished with dinner, a manager came to our table and asked whether everything was OK. My wife said yes. Not wanting to disagree with my wife, I said nothing, but I noticed that she had eaten almost none of her dinner. I asked her why. She said she did not know why, but she just was not hungry. Clearly, she did not want to complain about what was really bothering her. When I had finished my dinner, and my wife had eaten almost nothing, I asked the server to bring boxes, so we could box my wife's food to go. The server returned with three boxes. She just handed the boxes to us. She could have offered to help with boxing my wife's food, and she certainly should have put the boxes down on the table. But she could not put the boxes on that table, since there was nowhere on the table to place the boxes. The table was covered with dishes, including the empty appetizer dish and my empty dinner dishes. She should have cleared the empty dishes from the table, but she did not. My wife was upset about trying to box her dinner without anywhere on the table to place the three boxes. I called the server back and asked her to clear the empty plates from the table, which she should have done without having been asked. When asked, she did clear the empty dishes from the table, so my wife could box her dinner to go. When we got home, my wife told me she had been very unhappy all evening at that restaurant, because of how we were treated there. She said she did not know why we had been lied to about the availability of a server at the three available tables along the back wall. She asked me to write a negative review. Here it is. read more

Terrible experience today at Texas Roadhouse- waited a long time for food - had appetizers and they brought out right before our dinner was served, forgot my salad and the waitress told me I can have corn instead- then my steak I ordered was well done( I ordered medium rare) they took that back and then brought a steak that was half the size I paid for 8oz instead of 12 oz. And she took that back and came back with the same steak and said they would Cook me another half to make up the difference !!! By then my husband was done eating before I could get my food ! And by the way my glass of tea had to be taken back Because the glass had food on it ! Horrible ! Never again ! read more

Food was very good. I had the 8-ounce steak with Grilled Shrimp with a side of steak fries topped with cheese and bacon, and a bowl of their green beans which were seasoned with bacon and grilled onions. The Blue Crush Lemonade was also good, not overly sweet and had good flavor. The service was quick and had a great atmosphere so that adds more to this review. I will be visiting again. read more

Food and drinks were great! Our server was a bit overwhelmed last night, and didn't follow up appropriately. We had to ask a different server to bring us rolls, and the entire time we were there, she did not take away our dirty plates. When dinner was done, she just brought our check and we had to tell her that we wanted to order dessert. Peanut shells were flying! A little taste of Texas in Lawrence, KS. I was glad to see this restaurant come to my neighborhood. I had been to other out-of-state Texas Roadhouse restaurants and had a very enjoyable time. Disclaimer: I am not a huge fan of franchise anything. I much prefer the smaller, quaint local restaurants to the large and loud franchise food. That being said, Texas Roadhouse is a very good restaurant and perfect for families. I am not sure it is the right venue for a corporate lunch, though. I took a friend to lunch who was in town for only two nights. He had never been to a Texas Roadhouse so I decided to let him have the experience. We both really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. I had ordered the chicken fried steak and it was good except for the gravy. The gravy had a very odd and unique taste. It was not a bad taste, just not what I expected from steak gravy. It was slightly peppery for my tastes but that is just a personal preference and not a restaurant thing. The peanuts were fun and the beverages were good. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. The line dancers were great and they helped make the place lively. The one glaring complaint that I have is the music was loud. I mean.... very loud. It was unbearably loud. I actually had to shout to "talk" to my friend. When I asked a server to turn down the volume, she explained that they turned it up when the crew dances. It was just too danged loud. No complaints with the food (besides the strange tasting gravy), the atmosphere (other than the loud music) or the service. TR is one of my absolute favorites. We stopped in after a football game and we were hungry! As always, the rolls were hot, delicious and plentiful. The kiddos had chicken fried steak and cheeseburger sliders. The hubs and I shared a 16 ounce ribeye. The streak was tender and cooked perfectly, but lacked seasoning. We wondered if they just forgot to sprinkle some on before cooking. No biggie though, we just sprinkled our own salt. read more

We came in and were seated quickly, they waiter was prompt, polite, and got everything out quickly. The only down sides I found was the inconsistencies from the other locations I've been to. The salad plates weren't chilled, that the loaded potatoes we got were overly salted on the outside, I ordered my steak med well and it was was over cooked, I only ended up eating half of it. I had the catfish,the fish was good and hot,nice fillets. This is coming from a fisherman. My wife had the bbq chicken breast,I have never seen a chicken breast flattened like this was. The smallest half pound of meat I have ever seen. My wife ordered the watermelon wine. Good tasting wine. The only problem is that she got a quarter of a glass of wine,I about lost it when we got our bill and the wine was $10.49 for about 4 sips of wine. No wonder the wine wasn't priced. Showed up tonight for a take out order. Was informed that everything was ready except the bread. Figured I'd step back for a minute and they would let me know, either through text or physically that it was ready. The line for take out was long, and regardless of how long I waited it was like no one noticed me anymore. Another window opened, went up, nobody. Finally, 30min later, after the line cleared, I got my food. Kicker is that it said I was here and to txt me on my reciept.... guess that didn't happen. That service was atrocious and I wouldn't ever come back to this location. The staff were incompetent, the girl doing the take out couldn't get on a computer to tell the couple in front how expensive there order was and then just struggled to get orders out in general. How ridiculous is it when 30 degrees outside, line of 10 people and it takes 30 min to get through them..... Should be ashamed of that service. read more

I hate, loathe, despise and detest country music. As you might imagine, this location does not accommodate my needs in that respect. But, I also wanted a good steak. And, well, while I love some of the other local restaurants in town that can accommodate that request, I wanted fast, convenient and relatively cheap. So, I decided to try it out anyway. Gotta give it to them. It was a pretty good steak. Cooked to my specifications (the FIRST time, which is also important) and they had sides that could accommodate my dietary restrictions. (I'm low carb.) Add to that, the servers were friendly, attentive and helpful. I'll pack headphones next time. But, I'll also enjoy my steak. read more

The last time that I ate at Texas roadhouse was the week of my mom's passing. After my mom's funeral my brother and I had our one last meal together as brother and sister before he moved back to New York. Due to this, Texas roadhouse will always have a soft spot in my heart because it was a place for me and my brother shared memories of our mom and bonded closer than we ever had before. But I hadn't been back since that time and I was in the mood for some fried catfish today and so I decided to stop in and grab some on the way home. First of all the location of this Texas roadhouse is pretty sufficient it faces the roadway the signage is clearly seeing the parking can become pretty congested just because of the layout. This place is known for having a bucket of peanuts that sits on your table, I didn't get to partake of that this time since my order was to go but that is a little adage that you learn to love about them. Makes them Stand out from other restaurants. Today I was very impressed with how quickly my order was completed, but it did sort of cause me a little hesitancy because I began to question whether the quality was going to be as good because it was done so fast but to my surprise the food was hot and fresh and very tasty. You know your fish is good when it can be eaten with no tartar sauce. Their yeast rolls are awesomely hot and fresh . if anything it just made me miss my brother more wishing that he could be here. Hopefully if he comes into town again when Covid is no longer an issue, we can head back to Texas roadhouse for another meal together. read more

Texas Roadhouse is an excellent, economical eating establishment located in Lawrence, KS. Yes, this is a restaurant chain, and I have dined at many of them both in Kansas and in other states, but this said I feel we have one of the finest Texas Roadhouses right here in Lawrence. We are always greeted in a friendly manner and seated quickly. Our order is taken within several minutes of our seating, our drinks are served and our salads or appetizers quickly follow. We asked that our main entree is not served until our salads are finished. We feel eating should be enjoyed in a leisurely manner. If you are in a hurry perhaps fast food is a better choice for you! We have been very happy with our food and service here, the waiters and bar tenders are very attentive. If you prefer seafood rather than steaks the salmon served at this Texas Roadhouse is excellent and cooked just right. Give this eatery a chance to serve you, I think you'll be happy! read more
